Reviews of Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya
The grounds were kept so clean, the rooms were very clean, the maids did a fantastic job. All the workers were so nice, and helpful. The pool areas were kept very clean as well. Dora was always asking people if they needed anything, and made sure everything was good.

Hands down the best resort! This has been the second resort we have stayed at in Mexico and ever since we stayed here in 2020, it has been hard to choose a different resort. This was our 3rd time staying at valentin from march 4- march 11 2025 and it did not disappoint. The pool is huge and has two swim up bars to grab drinks. The beach has plenty of seating and also has bars nearby and workers that go around asking for drink orders. The food is delicious! My favorite restaurants to go to were ginger hibachi (need reservations) and hacienda. I loved the pozole and mocajete at hacienda. For breakfast, I loved getting the green juice and fresh fruit platter. At the swim up pool, my husband and I enjoyed the chicken panini and shrimp burger. Room service is offered 24/7 and has a great food selection. The pool activity staff does a great job of including people to enjoy the many activities that they offer. My favorite was pool volleyball and the foam party. The music at night in the plaza was great! The dj did a great job of playing requested music. Now I want to give recognition to some of the staff that made our stay that much more special.
Amanda at the hookah lounge is so sweet! I always say she is my mom because she genuinely cares for you and has a heart of gold.
Pablo, Isabel, and diana at the pool were super cool and kept it lively at the pool.i am forgetting some other names but in reality, they were all great and always had a smile on their face. Isabel has a special place in my heart as she got me to dance at the pool (which I would never ever do). Pablo and Diana danced with me at the plaza and were also very sweet and fun.
Magdiel at the martini bar is so sweet and very attentive.
Angel and Edgar at the pool swim up bar made great drinks and were quick to serve drinks.
Fernando, albino, and Marco at the bar in plaza at night were so much fun! They also served the drinks quickly and were super nice.
Cecilia and Martha. the servers at the plaza were so sweet to my husband and I.
Vianney, the server at la hacienda, greeted us nicely and made sure we liked what we ordered.
Mildre, the hostess at la hacienda, was nice and quick to seat us.
Osmar, at the sports bar, was great and pleasant to talk to.
Lastly, Guillermo, the dj, played the hits at night! He played menae at night for my husband and I and made sure we had an enjoyable experience.
Overall, the staff does a really good job on making sure you have a truly magical experience. If it wasn’t for them, our experience would not be the same. thank you everyone :) i usually don’t write reviews but i do believe this resort deserves all the recognition. I would recommend this hotel to anyone! Can’t wait to go back!

Never disappoints! We just completed our sixth visit to VIM and each time it gets better and better! We had a swim up, as we always do and everything was absolutely made perfect by the friendly and attentive staff - especially Joselo, Customer Care Manager and our building concierge, Maurizio. Joselo was so helpful in assuring our reservation was perfect and our experience beyond expectations. Maurizio was a delight and ensured all our requests were met in a timely fashion. The food was very good and the staff- what more can be said. Everyone we encountered were so helpful and friendly! Special shout out to Israel of the Go Team and Oscar in the Sports Bar- so very kind, professional and friendly! We are already planning our 7th visit!

My wife and I got engaged at the VIM in 2016. We married later in 2016, but never took a true honeymoon so we decided to come back to the VIM. We were there for a week at the end of January. This resort is the most relaxing place we go. Every thing is 5 star. Service, food, pools, bar staff, entertainment, spa, and beach. The one thing about the VIM that sets it a part from every where else is the service. So many great staff that make everyday special. We do the Prive package when we go because it makes a great vacation in better. Highly recommend the Valentín Imperial Riviera Maya if want a relaxing vacation with every detail taken care of. We’ve already booked 2+ weeks for January 2026. It’s going to be amazing!!!

We had a very relaxing holiday at Valentin, it was the second time we visited in 6 years. It is a very different hotel to most as its surroundings are very natural with plenty of green spaces. The only criticism we would give is the request that guests wear long trousers in restaurants - we did not know this and my husband had to wear the same trousers for the whole week each evening, rather than his smart shorts which he was able to wear at another resort which was of a higher hotel rating. The rooms are very clean food options are good. The staff all appeared to work very hard. We had interaction with few staff on our trip and would give a shout out to Marcial who works at the martini bar, Maria who was very efficient who worked at Le Marché at front of house and to Dora who was very personable and clearly loves her job!

First day of our 10th return trip and decided to try the Chef’s Table. Chef Eduardo is a genius and our server, Fernando, was incredibly knowledgeable about each dish and its wine pairing. Worth every penny for a wonderful experience and a delicious, creative seven course meal.

The staff that really made an impression this trip included Gabino, Samuel and Esmeralda at The Corner, Elsy at the Indonesian restaurant, Yonathan at the French restaurant, Edgar and Milde at the Mexican restaurant. Mauricio, the concierge in building 11 was able to get a delivery from a nearby pharmacy on just a few minutes notice. Marco is the pool concierge and is going 20 different directions at the same time and doing it all well.

My wife and I visited VIM in late February. This was our 10th visit and the resort just keeps impressing us. The service from the staff is amazing and I literally have never heard staff member tell someone something couldn’t be accomplished.
The beach and ocean were amazing, no seaweed and the water was crystal turquoise. The grounds were impeccably clean as was our room.
I’m a pretty picky eater and I’m always able to find a delicious meal at one of the restaurants. One of the aspects that I love about the VIM is, if you want to combine certain dishes to make something more enjoyable, they go over the top to make it happen. For example, at the French restaurant, I wanted the steak with a different side dish and they were very accommodating about putting the two meals together to make one.
A couple staff members that really stood out during our stay was Johana at Don Miguel’s, Carlos and Teresa at Mar for breakfast.
A special shout-out to Dora that once again went over the top to make our stay memorable. She makes VIM feel like a second home for us.

1st. Every single staff member was FANTASTIC!! Couldn't ask for better service. We've been to several resorts in Mexico, Jamaica, Punta Cana, Aruba; and the Valentin service exceeded all others. I had a small medical issue, and the staff was all over it, and took care of everything with great follow up. Our stay was for 10 days. Perfect weather all but one day. I will say this is a GREAT resort for pools. We really enjoyed the LARGE party pool several days, and also for quieter, but still fun times, the Golden "lazy river" pool was great. Can get food and drinks at both, with great service!! And the pool water is actually comfortable. Refreshing, but not COLD like at some resorts. The bali beds/Cabanas definitely could be better. They are comfortable enough, but very few give you all day shade, and a lot of them are restricted to those who bought the Prive package. We did buy the Prive for all 10 days, but I would NOT do it again at all. Yes, it was helpful to get reservations at restaurants and a reserved bali bed, but it wasn't overly necessary at all. And the lobster you get is very good, and good sized, but you can only eat so much of it.
I would definitely give Valentin 5 stars if it weren't for 2 items that are usually pretty darn important on our trips. #1 the beach is not good here. The sand is fine, but you can never go swimming as the waves are always too rough, and the wind is constant. This is kind of just a known thing in this part of Mexico, it's hard to find a good, calm swimmable beach. The bali beds weren't great at the beach either, even though we were Prive. Can get food and drinks served at the beach as well. #2, and I know this isn't important to a lot of people, but the "gym" here is laughable at best. I see why they have very few pictures of it on their website.
The biggest question is always, would you return? My wife and I have already discussed this. If it was just the 2 of us, then no, we would not return. If we were to travel with friends who do spend most of their time at the pool, then definitely, it really is a great resort for those who enjoy the pool scenes, both party and quiet.
I haven't even mentioned the food yet, as nothing stood out good or bad. And individual tastes vary whether you like Italian, Mexican, French, etc, etc. I would not go here because of the food, but I also wouldn't avoid it because of the food. It's basic sustenance food to soak up all the booze :). Again, nothing was great, but nothing was bad either.
Oh, one other thing to mention. This is a large, spread out resort; and most rooms it is a 5-7 minute walk to the restaurants, pools, beach, and gym. They do offer golf cart rides which is very helpful some days, and all the drivers are great and knowledgeable!!

Atmosphere was relaxing, staff was exceptional
Great visit staff was very polite, helpful and always willing to help and always smiling! Beach area was very good. Lots of shaded seating areas and no rocks if you go left of the lifeguard stand. Don Miguel’s was 100%. We will definitely be back.
It was a an amazing first time
Feels massive while still being cosy and friendly. Gardens are amazing and so are the staff. The restaurants gives you different options depending on your palate. We were well looked after by the staff and all the entertainment.

We stayed here for 3 nights at the end of a two week adventure travelling around Mexico City and the Yucatan region.
Here are our impressions:
Check in: Excellent. You are made to feel very welcome and get to have a drink or too during the process.
Check out: Just a standard check out process. However, as our taxi to airport was booked for 1pm we were given late room check out of 12pm (standard check out time is 11am).
Room: We were given a free upgrade from Deluxe Double to a larger suite by the beach. Overall the suite was amazing, especially having a jacuzzi.
Food: Excellent. We loved the buffet at Le Marché for and the French was probably our favourite evening restaurant.
Drinks: Varied in strength but overall no complaints. We loved the swim up bars and the Don Miguel bar in the evening.
Entertainment: Solid but not amazing. Normally a 45 min show at 9pm followed by house band in Plaza Espana.
Pool: We didn’t bother with the quieter pools but main pool was very good with plenty of entertainment during the day. Only negative about the pool is the bed hogs who leave towels on bed early but never seem to use them.
Beach: Not great but no big beach people.
Overall we had a great stay!

Everything from the food and entertainment to the phenomenal service everywhere - in room, restaurants, bars, spa, and pool/lazy river/beach-side. All staff are very friendly and non-stop service oriented for an ideal vacation.
The grounds are lavishly maintained and stunningly beautiful!
They have a wide variety of activities for entertainment so you can choose to do as much (sporting games/friendly competitions) or as little (just be docile and be waited on) as you desire.
We were celebrating and indulged in a private "Chef's Table" dining experience - absolutely the best meal of our lives - and we have traveled the globe many decades! We are looking forward to our next Valentin vacation!

The gardens and buildings are wonderful as are the pools and access to the beach. Big letdowns though - nowhere near enough beds by pools and cannot reserve table in restaurants (not, that is, unless you're prepared to fork out another £70+ per person per day for the privilege) - no, not even if it's your birthday, as I found out. If you don't pay this supplement, then you either scramble to join the 6pm mad dash to be first in or you will definitely wait minimum of 1.5 hours for dinner. House Wines are good - watch out they don't try to upsell you for more expensive wines as it is then no longer all-inclusive and you will pay. The only restaurant I could possibly recommend is Le Marche but unfortunately only open breakfast and lunch (don't know why, as this would alleviate evening crowds) - think it's just a ploy to get you to pay the supplement. The other restaurants, I found the food really bland and disappointing on the whole - what a shame, as all the surroundings are lovely. But the really biggest bugbear of mine is that tips are expected for any and every service, good or not-so. This is supposed to be ALL INCLUSIVE but really it isn't. Even the mosquitos want a tip for biting you!!! Not for us, but lots of people have been dozens of times.

All the 5* reviews are accurate. We’ve traveled to the Riviera Maya for 20+ years and visited many resorts across different resort chains up and down the coast. This is our new favorite place to go.
Overall - well laid out Spanish Colonial architecture with Mayan touches. No buildings are taller than 3 floors and all have elevators. Rooms are categorized as Silver, Golden, Emerald or Onyx. Size and amenities increase from Silver to Onyx. Silver suites are buildings 1 - 5 and are all situated relatively close to the main pool with building 1 closest to restaurants and building 5 closest to the beach. Golden suites are buildings 6 - 8 and are the only buildings with swimup suites. We stayed in a Golden swimup in building 6, which gets the most afternoon sunshine. Buildings 9 and up are the emerald suites by the ocean.
Room - bathroom is spacious with frosted doors for the toilet and shower. The bathroom also has doors and the jacuzzi tub is situated between the bathroom and main room with louvre doors to close it off from the main room and fully enclosing the bathroom area. There are several outlets with USB 2 connections and the clock also has both USB 2 and a phone charge pad built in. Regular mini bar with beers, juice and soda. Ice is available in the 2nd floor machine by the elevator. Bed is very comfortable not too soft or too hard, Goldilocks would approve. The loungers on the terrace have nice pads not those stretched material loungers.
Restaurants - OMG!!! We are not overly fussy eaters and love to try new things. Every meal from breakfast, lunch and dinner was fantastic. We are used to good resort food from Excellence and Karisma resorts and Valentin exceeds them all. The French restaurant was elegant with an interesting twist on the classic French onion soup. Great service and delicious meal to start off our week. Mar y Tierra is the only casual dress restaurant and located by the beach. Wonderful outdoor setting with the sounds of the ocean in the background. We did the Mediterranean next and again the meal and service were exceptional. The ONLY downside was a table of 6 with 2 drunk people yelling and shouting across the table and the restaurant with their drunken idiot talking. It’s unfortunate that this occasionally happens in AI resorts but these occurrences are few and far between, 4 times in well over 30 visits to AI resorts. The Asian, Taman Sari was also great service and food, finishing the meal with the “Secret Box” IYKYK. La Hacienda the Mexican restaurant was our favorite if we had to choose. Angel the roving restaurant supervisor greeted us and had us seated quickly. We had Yonathan as our server, he was fantastic, knowledgeable, friendly and efficient. We enjoyed our time there so much that we switched our decision to repeat our French meal with another visit to La Hacienda and Yonathan for our final meal. Ginger, the Japanese restaurant, was also one of my favorite meals. We did the Sushi bar, not really my wife’s favorite kind of meal but she enjoyed it. I ordered the chef special and was not disappointed. This is not on the menu and is a great mix of sashimi and sushi. Soooooo good! Breakfast was a mix of room service, Le Marché buffet and Mar y Tierra a La carte. All were excellent quality with plenty of options. Lunch was either at M y T or Golden pool. Again everything we had was delicious, Golden shrimp burger, every ceviche, nachos, club sandwich, tuna salad sandwich, chicken sandwich. The roasted tomato soup at M y T was so good we had it EVERY TIME we had lunch there. Only thing not amazing was the calamari, overcooked and chewy.
Entertainment - we’ve noticed a significant drop in the quality and quantity of evening entertainment at many resorts over the past 5 years. NOT AT VALENTIN!!! Their evening lineup is always varied, great quality and definitely worth checking out. The only show we missed was the Mexico show as we were tired from a long day of lounging and drinking. Gatsby, Magic, Burlesque, Circus, Fire Show were all great shows. Entertainment in the square before and after the theater shows was very good. Nice piano in the martini bar. Tenors were awesome. We spent our days at the beach or around our swimup room so I can’t speak to the daytime activities by the main pool or other activities around the resort. Shoutout to Cecilia our favorite server in the square, so friendly, we LOVE her.
Nature and layout - so many critters in and around the resort. We saw raccoons, coatis, squirrels, lots of iguanas including the famous Golden pool Kevin monster iguana. Plenty of different birds as well. We really enjoy how much of the resort is natural and how they mix in the landscaping, pools, fountains, flowers and buildings with the natural forest. The beach is recovering from the hurricane but still has a lot of small rocks and shells in the sand. The ocean was fairly wavey the entire time with red flags but lots of people still went in and enjoyed diving through the waves. I did bring snorkeling equipment but didn’t go in as the waves were too much.
Privé - I did this last as not everyone gets, wants or needs this. We opted for Privé as we enjoy the liquor in our room, the reserved Bali bed on the beach, the Privé lounge with special check in and check out and especially the 7:00 dinner reservations. Our ideal vacation includes laying around on a beach bed, being pampered and served drinks while watching the ocean and enjoying nature so Privé is definitely worth it for us. Shout out to Mariela in the Privé lounge, super friendly and always there to help us in anything we needed.
Overall we highly recommend this resort and will definitely be back. So glad we found this resort.

The staff, accommodations (stayed in building 7 Golden Suite) and food were exceptional! Resort is beautiful! Beach is accessible but can be windy and rough. First stay here and only dissapointments were the long waits for dinner (45mins - 1hour) we would go get a drink while we waited, and not finding any place to sit/lay at either of the 2 pools during our 8 day stay when we got to the pool at 9am. The same guests would get up and save a free lounger(s) everyday at the best spots. These were usually guests, when asked, that had multiple stays at the resort. You can pay an extra 85$ USD per day per guest and get a reserved bed, "if available," at the pool OR beach. Spending time at the pool and beach are always a priority on our beach vacays. We asked and during our visit the resort was at 90% capacity.

The absolute best thing about our stay at the Valentine was the staff.
The food was great and with all the places to choose from we didn't get bored with the choices.
Our room was spacious. The only bad thing we could say is that there was a musty smell to the AC. On the day we had the coolest temp left the doors open and it was perfect.
The pool was fun. The drinks were tasty and the staff at the swim up bars were knowledgeable.
The beach was ideal and the staff would remove the seaweed to make the waves accessible.

Just returned from another excellent stay at the VIM. This was our 12th visit. We have been visiting the Cancun-Riviera Maya for over 30 years well before the airport was renovated and alot of the resorts were built, etc. The VIM is our favorite. The property and associated amenities are superb. I will not go into detail, as much has been written (on TripAdvisor) about the VIM; do your own research and see if the VIM fits your needs.
The only advice I would give is relative to ALL the big inclusive type resorts located in the greater Cancun resort area. Most all inclusive resorts are expansive and require some walking.
Most offer a wide selection of worldwide culinary - dinning experiences. On and off property activities are varied and designed for the adventurous and lazy alike.
Most resorts have large pools and the associated chair games in order to get a preferred spot by the pool or beach, etc. Some are stricter than others about saving chairs - as this a reoccurring complaint among guests.
Most of the inclusive resorts include alcohol. Some of the guests will do their best to consume their body weight in alcohol and the ensuing behavior to follow day or night.
Finally the greater Cancun area is constantly under development or improvement; especially with the highway system. Allow yourself plenty of time to transfer back to the airport. Most of the transfer services are reliable.
Having said that, the greatest thing about the VIM is the staff. Without a doubt, these are the friendliest and hardest working people I have ever meet. All are to be commended.
I would be remiss if I did not recognize some of the VIM
very best ambassadors we interacted with on a daily basis:
Privé: Mariela; Le Marche: Luis, Andre; French: Oscar; Ginger: Bernardino, Oscar; Italian: Armando, Blanca, Fernando,Juan, Luis, Daniel; Indonesia: Kierly; Don Miguel: Ximena, Uriel, Alan, Jocelyn, Abigail; Pool Staff: William, Karla, Alberto; Bellman: Arturo.
Finally, there is Yolanda. This elegant lady is a blend of artist and drill sergeant (who) keeps the entire food and bar experience working. This lady works 10-12 hr days to ensure you have the best experience possible. She is the first person I look for when we arrive.
Enough said. The VIM is like coming home and seeing old friends who are more like family. Do your homework.

I came here for a week with my partner, and paradise is an understatement! The food is all fresh and incredible, the service is top notch, and there is so much to do! The Go Team has tons of activities for guests every day, and they are so friendly and energetic. We had so much fun playing pool volleyball with Isabel and Israel, and they kept it light and fun! Pablo, Carlos, Diana, and the rest of the entertainment staff made our stay so fun! The pool is always sparkling clean, and the landscaping took my breath away. I don't know how they manage to keep everything so pristine at all times, but they really do! Dora is so amazing, and she made us feel right at home, like we never wanted to leave! We loved the all inclusive atmosphere because we got to try everything! The shows each night are fantastic, and the band is always rocking! I love the attention to detail in absolutely everything here, and I felt like royalty every day! This is the kind of place where you can stay busy and active, or just relax and recharge. There is a party pool and a quiet pool, as well as beach access with water so clear I couldn't believe it was real. They have beach side cabanas for guests, and they even will bring you drinks and food by the beach or pool. Our room was so comfortable and beautiful, and the housekeeping staff work so hard to make everything perfect! We loved visiting the coffee shop, sometimes twice a day. We did one of their new Gastronomic Dining Experiences in the French restaurant, and it was so romantic and delicious. It was five beautiful courses, with two of them prepared in front of us in our private dining room. It was truly and unforgettable experience! We loved using Amstar for our transportation to and from the resort and the airport, as they made it simple and efficient. They have excursions you can go on, but we opted to stay on the property for the whole week and we were never bored. I cannot recommend the Valentin strongly enough, and I can't wait to come back with friends and family!

My home away from home! This is my fourth visit to Valentin Imperial and it continues to get better each time. I do not want to go anywhere else! This place is absolutely wonderful! The staff, the hospitality, the food, the atmosphere, the amenities, and everything in between is top notch! The Valentin has stepped up their food game (compliments to the chefs) and we had incredibly delicious food at every meal. Highly recommended trying out the gastronomy experiences (the French one was superb for my birthday). Always make sure to stop by the churro cart (best churros EVER). Big shout out to the GO Team (Israel, Isabel, Pablo, Diana, Joana, and Carlos) for being awesome and keeping everyone entertained! The night performances were fantastic and highly enjoyable. And lastly a huge shoutout to Dora, she always makes sure that our stay is enjoyable/perfecto and it’s always good to see my friend! Thank you Valentin for an incredible vacation! See you again next year!

Having been to the VIM many times, I was anxious to see if it still lived up to years past. I believe it did. The grounds are immaculate, rooms clean (jr. suite), food delicious. And the staff are still some of the friendliest ppl I’ve met. Angel and Joel at the pool bar, Veronica (Vero) at La Marche bar, Sonja at mar tierra bar at lunch, and the crew at Don Miguel’s - Osmar, Alan, Joslyn, Uriel are top notch.
This year’s Go Team is one of the best in years.
Our fav restaurants are the Italian and Indonesian. The ribs at both places are so good and tender. Blanca was our waitress at the Italian twice and she was amazing. Very fun and friendly.
I will say a few things could have been a bit better. The elevator in our building was broken more than it worked. Both times we ate at mar tierra for dinner the length of time we sat was quite a lot. 2 hours both times. Food was great but it took longer. Not sure why. And while still great, morning wait staff didn’t come around frequently to fill up coffee/water. None of this is a deal breaker nor does it lower my rating. But nothing is perfect and it should be noted.
We did not notice noise from the new buildings going up.
All in all. Great trip at a great resort.

My husband and I spent our 30th anniversary trip at VIM for 6 days and honestly, every expectation we had was not only met, but far exceeded. This was our first trip to a 5 star Mexican resort, and it was worth every penny that we paid and more. It would be impossible to list everything, but here’s my shot at a fair and honest review:
- We stayed in a Golden Superior King, as we were told it was the only way without going up to an Emerald to guarantee a King bed. These are all on the 3rd floor and we could not have been more pleased. We could hear the ocean from our balcony (my tall husband could see a sliver of it through the trees) and had a great view of the Golden Pool. We had a double vanity and the bathroom closed with two set of doors so there was lots of privacy. Housekeeping and turndown service were amazing, and mini-bar requests were accommodated. One thing I appreciated but don’t see mentioned much was the bidet, which I think are in all rooms at VIM. I have one at home and usually travel with a portable one for any stay longer than overnight. It was excellent to have one included, and if you’ve never used a bidet before, this is your chance. You’ll never go back lol.
- Weather was great (88F and partly cloudy) but WINDY. 16-18 mph all day every day, making for red flag days with big waves our entire stay. We only felt safe going in up to our waists, but still enjoyed our time at the beach. Tons of shaded chairs available at the beach and good drink service. We had one tiny burst of a sprinkle for maybe a minute. No bugs at all, our bug spray remained sealed the whole trip.
- We got shaded seating at the Silver Pool easily and just walked over to the Main pool from there. There were even some chairs available at the Main pool, but only in direct sunlight. For the money we spent I was not going to play dumb chair games with people.
- Drinks were amazing and you could hardly sit still for 5 minutes without staff asking you if you wanted something. We loved the Martini Bar near the lobby for drinks while waiting for dinner or just picking up a quick mimosa or bloody in the morning. We brought a flask and the plaza bartender filled it with cognac for nightcaps back in the room. Don Miguel’s was so classy and lovely, and the Italian coffee service I got was delightful.
- The food and meal service were excellent for the most part, and we hit every single restaurant including the buffet and Café Sissal. We are foodies (will easily throw down $250 for a nice dinner out for two) and while not every dish was perfect, the quality and variety was fantastic. There were very few issues where something was not right – my first fillet at the French restaurant was wildly overcooked, and a couple of times we got the wrong dish – but it was always resolved within minutes. My least favorite experiences were at Mar y Tiera; at lunch my calamari was so tough I could hardly eat it, and at dinner on Saturday the food was good but the staff seemed overwhelmed by larger tables, and our own service suffered quite a bit. Our longest wait for two was 45 minutes for both L’Alsace and Mar y Tierra.
- The shows were a little cheesy but the performers worked their butts off and we particularly enjoyed the Circus night. The Imperial Band was so much fun to dance to, and they engaged with the crowd very well. Musical selections got more lively the further along we got in the week. We never made it to the DJ.
- Other great experiences of note were the bike tour, tequila tasting, ice cream at Café Sissal and of course the churro cart. And just the grounds in general, they are immaculately kept and there are little speakers along the walkways playing acoustic music. We really liked that almost anywhere you went, there was some kind of music playing. The gift shop had some surprisingly reasonable souvenirs, and I got a really cute pair of rhinestone sandals at the boutique for $60 USD when one of my pairs broke a strap our second night in.

Construction was a disappointment as we are beach people. The work they are doing at the beach is extremely disruptive. Made relaxing/enjoying the swimming area next to impossible.
Red flags every day (currents are very strong here), so if you want a swimmable beach this is probably not the place for you.
The sargassum was not cleaned up at all while we were there (I think we got unlucky and went while their tractor wasn't working). Beach is a major let down, but everything else would be top marks.
Our other issue was the room. Silve jr suite is not a good layout (bathroom is open to the rest of the room other than a thin curtain). We were initially in the back of building 2, where the construction road runs and this was inconvenient. A loud air horn went off multiple times every morning starting at 5:00am (we assume this is to start work). We asked to change rooms and were put in building 1 facing the resort, and had no issues after this.
Of note:
Main pool is fantastic. Lots of classes/events, lively atmosphere, music, great swim up bars. Chairs were always reserved (and early!) while we were there. Spent a little time at the golden pool which is a completely different vibe and great for relaxing. Nice to have both options.
Food was outstanding. Best resort food we have had. Went to the restaurants at 6:00 every night and never had to wait. Selection in terms of themed restaurants and the items at each is wonderful. Churro cart is a must.
Drinks - asked for top shelf liquor and this was never a problem. Drinks were always well made.
Grounds - if you like a jungle vibe, this is the place for you. Tons of wildlife. The grounds are immaculate and constantly being upkept. Everything was very clean and well maintained. Love the hacienda style/design. We like a spread out resort where we can do some walking, this met that without being too large.
Special mentions:
The staff here are spectacular. Every single interaction we had was a positive one, and everyone we encountered (even the groundspeople) would say hello. I want to take an opportunity to recognize the following people:
-Aaron (front desk): extremely helpful, kind, and wonderful to deal with. We went to him with a few requests and he made sure to fulfill them and that we were happy. He gave us helpful advice for the day we were leaving, which we really appreciated.
-Esmeralda (hostess for breakfast at Mar y Tierra): we went to the a la carte breakfast every morning, and by day 3 Esmeralda remembered us AND remembered my allergy every time. This is incredibly impressive for the amount of people she encounters each day. She has a true talent for her job.
-Abelardo (pool bar): the BEST drinks. Abelardo has his drink ratios down to a science. Great service, even better drinks.
-Zeyana (yoga and other classes): I went to Zeyana's yoga class every morning - she is an incredible teacher. The sound healing at the end made it even better than I could have imagined. I enjoyed some of her other classes also, like aqua zumba. Not only is she a wonderful instructor, she is also an incredibly kind person. She always made sure to chat after yoga, and seemed genuinely interested in the yoga I did at home. She is a true asset to your fitness programming and the resort as a whole.
-The GO team (in particular Carlos, Isabel, Pablo, Lorenzo, and Daniel). I participated in many activites while I was there, and the GO team is what really made them enjoyable. Our first day there, we did the rifle shoot with Pablo and he remembered our names for the rest of our trip, and always made sure to greet us by name when he saw us - very impressive! Lorenzo, Carlos, Isabel and Daniel had great energy, espeically for the crafts (Lorenzo), the guacamole lesson (Lorenzo and Carlos), the tequila tasting (Carlos and Isabel), amd the Spanish lesson (Daniel). The activites/classes/fitness etc offered at this resort really are a stand out.

I had this resort bookmarked for a couple of years, but was hesitant that it may not be lively enough for us compared to other resorts we had visited in the past. I am glad we pulled the trigger because the property is absolutely breathtaking! There are so many activities offered, but we are pool people, so we spent literally ALL day every day at the pool enjoying the music, foam party and bull riding and then tried to stay up long enough to enjoy the nightly live music after dinner.
The food at the themed restaurants was the best quality we have ever had at a resort, along with most of the cocktails. We only had to wait one night for about 25 minutes while we were there to get into the restaurant we wanted to have dinner at and that is likely because we had dinner later in the evening that night. Other than that, our group of 6 were able to get into any restaurant without any wait. Service was great, staff were warm and friendly. Check in/out was fairly quick and highly organized. I was thoroughly impressed when we received calls asking if we needed housekeeping to tend to our room on a particular day and then calling to confirm we did not need the original airport transfer that was arranged (we had paid extra for a private shuttle and I had cancelled the original with the shuttle company, but they had still sent a driver). Overall, I 100% see why there are so many repeat guests who return to this resort. I don't think this will be our last trip either.

We stayed at this resort at the end of March and had an overall good experience, though there were a few things that could be better.
The Good: The resort is set in beautiful, well-maintained jungle grounds, creating a really peaceful vibe. The food was good—huge breakfast and lunch buffets with tons of variety, plus à la carte options for both meals if you prefer something more personal. There are six themed restaurants, with two or three that were particularly great. The staff was friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed. The Imperial Band provided some great entertainment, too.
The Bad: Check-in took over an hour, and we spent most of that time just sitting and waiting without any updates from staff, which was a bit frustrating. Also, the ocean wasn’t great for swimming during our stay. We were told later by some local people that it is typical for this area during early spring. The waves were huge, and there was quite a bit of seaweed washing up.
The Ugly: There was ongoing construction right on the beach, with heavy machinery and jackhammers working from 8 AM to 6 PM every day except Sunday. It was hard to ignore, especially when trying to relax by the water. Unfortunately, this construction will likely continue for at least another year.
Final Thoughts: Overall, the resort is beautiful, with good food, excellent service, and well-kept grounds. However, the slow check-in, rough ocean conditions, and noise from construction did put a bit of a damper on things.

Restaurants. Tried all the Themed ones except Mediterranean. The only one that was ok was the French. The problem is they don’t serve the traditional kind of food each one says it is, and just not much flavor.
Best one for breakfast is the steak house at the beach. Mar y Tierra.
The best one for lunch is buffet.
Dinner is again the steak house.
Restaurant service was ok. A lot of waiting time, for drinks and or food in all restaurants.
Service at the lazy river for drinks and food was better, however the food is just ok.
Room service was Basic. Takes around 45 minutes.
Pools. If you want a chair get up at 5am to put towels on them because they are gone by 7am.
If you want loud activity pool, that’s the main pool.
Lazy River was much quieter and laid back.
It’s a nice resort, love the adults only. It’s clean and beautiful. Biggest complaint is the food.
We have been to several different resorts in the Riviera Maya. 8 I can think of. So I am comparing from our favorites. For the same price I can go to a better resort, I won’t name any because this is just about Valentín Imperial.

Visit #9 at Valentin Imperial Maya did not disappoint! We found some new favorite foods at Taman Sari. The chicken satay with peanut sauce, fried mahi mahi and merengue tart were delicious! We were a little disappointed with the food and service at Ginger this year. L'Olivo, however, outdid themselves with amazing food and service, and L'Alsace did as well. The lunch buffet is always a nice alternative to the food trucks. Oh, and there are beautiful new restrooms by Mar & Tierra.
Our amazing servers were Edgar at La Hacienda, Alan at the sports bar and Marisol at the pool. Thank you!
We did spend the extra money and went with the Prive package this time around. The bali bed and dinner reservations made this trip outstanding. The liquor in the room was nice, but, we would have preferred more options, such as wine.

This was our third trip to Valentin and it was just as perfect as the past two. All the remodeled spaces look amazing, well done Valentin! We spent each morning walking the grounds...its easy to get 3 miles in without backtracking. We played pickleball for the first time and that was fun. We also went on the bike tour and would have loved to have done that every morning but didn't get a chance to.
The best parts of the resort: the vastness of it and the people who work there. Some specific shout-outs:
- Joanna and Daniel from the GoTeam...they were so fun and informative on the bike tour!!
- Dora from PR: wife and I were spending some time in the lobby just reading our books and Dora came over to check in on us. We spent probably close to 2 hours chatting with her. She taught us about suero con limon, some Spanish language, the different regions of Quintana Roo (pronounced Row...not Ru), and was just a really friendly person to get to know. Thanks Dora!
- Angeles from Sisal and the Golden Pool: we met Angeles in 2024 and were so excited to see her again in 2025. She is a very special person who will make you smile AND you should definitely ask for her recommendation on shots at the pools. .
( ___ in the Grass!!) :-)
- Ernesto y Paola: building 8 Concierge during our stay. Both of them were so helpful on various accounts. They helped make a large Hibachi reservation and found us to remind us to close out our bill in the main lobby the night before we left. They also set up wake-up call, golf cart (luggage) pick up, and room service for us.
- Israel from the GoTeam: we attended the pico de gallo class at the main pool and Israel made it very fun. And the most impressive part of Israel was that he remembered our names for the remainder of our stay and always greeted us with a smile! Thanks Israel!
- Jocelyn in Don Miguel: Not only was she a great mixologist but she did it with a smile...even when I ordered a Japanese coffee followed by a Spanish coffee. Tip for everyone: if Don Miguels is busy...don't order the Japanese coffee...its very time consuming. I'd highly recommend trying one but try to do it when its less busy. Thank you Jocelyn...you are a trooper for putting up with our drink requests!
- Grounds keepers: you guys are the unsung heroes. I'm guessing you don't get much recognition but the work you do, behind the scenes, allows all the guests AND staff to enjoy being at the Valentin. The grounds are pristine, so clean, everything is in working order, and the wildlife seem healthy and happy. I did actually thank some of the ones I saw working to keep things tidy and looking good.

2nd time at VIM and it won't be my last. Travelled with my wife and another couple and we all had an absolute blast. This place does the finer things better than anyone, from a cold scented towel and a drink upon arrival to the prompt service by all staff members. The food is top notch at all restaurants, the drinks are high end liquor, the go team is fantastic always keeping the energy level up at the main pool (fun side). If you want a little quieter time, the other side of the massive pool is very quiet and relaxing. Don Miguel martini bar is pretty sweet for a before or after dinner drink as they make some really nice fancy drinks and if you ask for the Irish coffee, you get a nice fire show :) Special shout out to Angel at the Indonesian restaurant as that guy was working his you know what off but found the time to be one of the nicest and funniest guys at the resort. He had my group in tears as we waited to be seated. Also, a shout out to Isabel and all the Go Team as they do an incredible job. Dora and Pamela had us laughing and entertained on our last day as we waited to depart for the airport. Dora is a legend in her own right as she has the perfect personality for her job. I said I would never do the same resort twice, now I am already planning for my 3rd visit to VIM. Keep up the great work VIM team and see you in 2026!

This was our second trip to VIRM. The staff at this resort are fantastic and it was wonderful to see some of the same people we met last year, especially all the staff at Cafe Sisal, Don Miguel's (Jocelyn is the best) and Abner at the Prive beach desk. The concierge team at the Prive lounge promised to make this trip even better than our last and they delivered (big thank you to Mariela!). We also thought the food and beverage options this year were better than last year. We tried more dishes this trip and we were not disappointed. We had two amazing celebration dinners, one on the beach and one at our room (swim-up). Highly recommend either option if you are there for a special occasion. The resort grounds are stunning, especially at night. We love the soft music that plays throughout. We also love that this resort offers both lively and quite atmosphere options while catering to a more mature and respectful crowd. We were excited to see that the resort is undergoing an expansion and construction was underway while we were there (but not disruptive). We can't wait to see what's in store and will be booking our next trip back soon. Thank you to everyone at VIRM for making this trip special and it was our best Mexico vacation to date.

My husband and I have been returning to the Valentin Imperial Maya since 2016, and every visit feels better than the last! It is rare to find a resort that not only maintains its high standards over time but actually improves.
The service is consistently top-notch. From the moment we arrive, we’re treated like family. Every staff member goes above and beyond to make us feel welcome and cared for. Huge shoutout to our favorite DORA - who is a great ambassador for the hotel and truly goes above and beyond for guests. The hotel has made lovely renovations and while we’ve always been fans of the food - they’ve really kicked it up a notch. Especially at Le Marche. The sommelier Matias, is a wine genius and picked delicious bottles for us during our stay. Valentin keeps giving us more reasons to keep coming back.
A special shoutout to these additional staff members who made our stay extra special:
Italian restaurant - Blanca
Le Marche - Naomi , Jorge, Luis, Andrés
Mar y tierra - Felipe , Samuel , Oscar and Eduardo
Prive - Mariela, Oscar (who also covered the pool area during our stay)
Prive Bali beds by pool ; Marco, Abner
We will be back for our 10th time !

From the moment you arrive you are greeted with a glass of champagne and a cool washcloth. The staff from the hotel are welcoming, friendly, helpful and an all around delight. Luis checked us in and was very funny and informative. He made note it was our anniversary and the next day we had a bottle of champagne and rose petals on the bed with swans made out of towels. The buffet for breakfast and lunch had a huge variety and desserts for days!! There is no way you can leave hungry or thirsty. I walk with a cane and they were very accommodating. We had a swim up suite in building 7. It was huge and nice and quiet. We never had to ask for a drink they walked around and took your drink orders all day. The wildlife is amazing. We had iguanas large and small. We even got to see Kevin several times. He is the largest of the iguanas and is orange. We saw coati’s, lots of birds and we even got to see 2 spider monkeys. If you want a more lively atmosphere the main pool is the place to be. We enjoy quiet and relaxing so the golden pool was perfect for us. Most people we spoke to were on their 3rd or greater visit to this resort. Some were there for the 11th time. The grounds are immaculate and the staff all around are so hardworking. We couldn’t think of one negative. We will definitely be on the return customer list!

A great resort for couples.

This was our 2nd time there, the last time in 2019. We were very happy to see the standard of service had remained the same. Good food and premium alcohol. We spent time in the sports bar to watch hockey and golf in the evening. The staff were very accommodating to get any sports we wanted on the big screens. The only complaint is the WIFI in the rooms is not good. You have to go to the common areas to get good reception.

Very much enjoyed our stay. The gardens and hotel are beautiful and cared for very well. I'm still missing walking to dinner through the gardens . We had an Emerald suite on the beach which was comfortable and peaceful. The bed was super perfect and the sunken tub facing onto the beach was a real treat. We loved the ocean view and sounds.
We had our breakfast at Le Marche. Omelettes particularly good. All the staff are friendly and helpful. I always felt welcome and cared for in a genuine & attentive manner.
We enjoyed the live music each night in the plaza which is a delightful place to relax and have a drink before or after dinner . The churro cart became a regular treat for dessert each night .
I have read people complaining about a long wait time for dinner but we had no problem . We either were seated straight away or given a buzzer which took at most 25 mins . It was no inconvenience to enjoy a cocktail in the plaza while we waited .
We were aware of the construction but it did not cause any problem or spoil our tranquility.
Overall a perfect 5 nights of rest and relaxation in a gorgeous place with extremely hard working and friendly people. Hope to return

We have been to this hotel since 2008 ,we have watched over its growth and changes through the years and every time I’m truly grateful for our time in this beautiful property. All the staff are the heartbeat of the hotel , from the Prive staff (Tanya, Mariela , Joselo and Oscar , to the pool concierge Abner, Manuel and Marco. Absolutely adore DORA she represents the property with her lovely smile and graceful presence to all the guests .
The staff of Lamarche who definitely made our breakfast special were the two hostesses Hilcia and her partner, waiter was Isaac his smiling face always made our day . Edgar is always checking on special details happening there truly an asset to the hotel,All the servers were always willing to help out and even Miquel a top manager and Arely are willing to help out. The Pastry chef spoiled me for my birthday week gracias , and Martin a chef also took time to treat my husband and I to special ordered food so delicious.

Beautiful resort, great food, but not my fav
The location is nice. The staff were friendly, none that stand out like the last resort I went to. The food has been better than other resorts we have been at. Scenery was beautiful, lots of wildlife. The room was great. However, the smoke detector light right above the bed...
The location is nice. The staff were friendly, none that stand out like the last resort I went to. The food has been better than other resorts we have been at. Scenery was beautiful, lots of wildlife. The room was great. However, the smoke detector light right above the bed was very annoying. I will say activities during the day was wonderful. But I feel the nightly entertainment was not the best I have seen recently. Would I come again, maybe but not multiple years in a row.
