Reviews of Villa Del Palmar Cancun Luxury Beach Resort & Spa
The resort was great and the rooms beautiful. We enjoyed the restaurants but our best time was by the pool. Angel, Alejandro and Jorge met all our needs. They were the best! This was our second time at Villa del Palmar and can’t wait to come back!
Never disappointed at Villa del Palmar

This is my second time at Villa del Palmar. It is one of the best all inclusive resorts we’ve been to. I can’t say enough good things about all the staff here. They were all exceptional but one in particular stands out. Tai, the hostess at Caprichos. I use a cane and can’t stand long. She was always ready to accommodate me as quickly as possible. She has a fantastic mannerism. She gave my day a great start. Will definitely be back.

Garza Blanca and Villa Palmar Cancùn
We staying at another resort (I use the term loosely) decided to leave after two of the 7 days. Move to Villa del palmar and have overwhelmed with attention! The food has been amazing as well! Our server Angel Tax at the Italian restaurant was over the top amazing!!

The service was over the top! We had a very clean and well stocked room with nightly turn down. Food was average. They could use some improvement in scheduling reservations at the speciality restaurants. We would try to get a reservation, put on a wait list and never contacted. They close the only buffet dinner service on Thursday/Friday nights and force you to a reservation We waited 1 hr past our requested time each night and walked to the restaurant and told our plight and they seated us both times! Need more beach chairs for the "common" guest. The reserved gold towel chairs would be empty and folks sitting in the sand because they weren't special guest.

Loved everything from the staff at check-in & checkout, housekeeping, waiters, hostesses, poolboys ( especially Angel & Kevin). The food was absolutely amazing!! The best all inclusive we have ever been to!! This is our second year at this resort & we will continue to come annually!!

Angel who works the pool area is absolutely the sweetest guy. We never had to worry about a chair he had us covered with towels and whatever we needed.
We had so much fun with arobics everyday. Botlgns and his Rocky music were great. He made it fun. Alejandro has so much energy and always a smile, he obviously knows his stuff. We loved it. Jargo is so nice. We loved them all. All the activity people are wonderful.
Edwardo in The Sports bar restaurant went above and beyond to make both meals we had there special. Amazing service there. Also the manager there was great! She was working so hard to accommodate everyone on a busy night. Always a smile.
The supervisor of the elite pool was definately not my favorite. We are elite members and have been for about 6 or so years and in a 3 week stay we got to have chairs at the elite poole 2 times. And one of those times he was mad at Kevin for giving us a cabana because he didn't approve it (even though he wasn't there). Kevin is so sweet. After that he checked on us every day no matter where we were to make sure we were comfortable.
Eric was our server for some of our stay and was the best pool service we had. Always right there when we needed him and remembered everything we liked.
Our concierge Ale was ok, communication on dinner reservations could have been better. But the worst part was being there 3 weeks and her telling us she made arrangements for us to stay in the same room the whole time (we had a lock off room that turned into a 2 bedroom) and we ended up having to move the last week. And we only found that out because I went to get a new key bracelet because mine came off and they told us at the desk. All the refrigerator stuff and groceries we bought. She invited us to an owners happy hour but didn't even tell us where, so our concierge from last year (who was amazing) took us over.
I will say I'm very disappointed that they have over sold the elite and we really have no benefit now except the check in and a massage. We can't even get in the elite pool ( which was loaded with the kids jumping and diving in) and it's a small pool anyway. It really should be adult only since there are 2 and really 3 kid pools.
Also the chef at Davinos was amazing. Their food is great. We bought lobster on the beach one day and he prepared it for us. We just had to buy 2 bottle if wine. He added shrimp for $2.00 a piece. The salad was amazing. And the pasta he added perfect. A great experience.
No coffee and pastry in the lobby in the morning is disappointing. They do have it at Garza. I'm just beginning to feel like "the red headed step child". Absolutely no fault if the employees who are amazing, just the Villa Group being all about the money.

Canadians there from Feb 21 - Mar 8, 2025 Non All-Inclusive in a studio. Besides the kitchenette removals, which is a huge con to us, the other cons were just inconveniences.
CONS - Last time we were here, in 2018, the studio rooms had kitchenettes. Once Tafer joined with Villa Group, they did renovations and took out the kitchenettes, dishes and microwave. In the room now is an exceptionally mini fridge, a nespresso pod machine and a few glasses. We asked for some dishes to use and never recieved any. Not helpful if you go non all-inclusive. 1 bedroom suites and above still have kitchenettes.
-CAN dollar convert to USD is bad
-Not close to town for restaurants off resort. There are taxis (more expensive), uber (resonable price) and local bus/collectivos (10 pesos/person 1 way).
-Palmita Market prices expensive (eg. tomatos 19peso/kg in town yet 109peso/kg at Market)
-Car ferry to Isla Mujeres has really increased. 45ish pesos from 2018 to 276ish pesos now. There was a more reasonable choice by using Ben's speed boats.
-automatic 15% tip at restaurants if not AI. We like to tip our servers in cash.
PROS - resort is beautiful. Warm, clear aqua blue waters with good snorkeling from the beach. Main pool is heated, bridge pool is cool, 4 hottubs.
-Staff we interacted with were amazing. Shout out to Veronica (non member concierge, always a smile, wave and how's your day when she saw us), Abimael (front desk, always smiling, remembered our names, had time for a chat, very helpful with our questions)
Edgar (front desk/supervisor, happy, helpful, calming prescence)
Francesca (room cleaner, friendly and patient while I tried conversing in Spanish with her)
All Activity staff: Edgar, Alex, Arely, Francisco(Paco) Such fun activities with them in charge. Always time for a chat, helpful with Spanish, smiles all the time)
-Market Deli and room service pricing not terrible.
-hotel/airport transfer fair price. We didn't book it soon enough so used Cancun Shuttle. It was equal to the resort and very reliable.

We travel to the Villa Group properties at least twice a year. Cancun always in March. We love the food experience here so much. We enjoy all the restaurants at both Garza Blanca and the Villa Del Palmar. We also love the room set up. Beautiful bedding, towels and robes. The best part of our vacation is always the staff. Our housekeeper (twice a day service) to our VIP pool attendants (Kevin and Jared) to the bartenders, wait staff and cleaning staff around the hotel. Everyone is so happy and friendly. The one bedroom suite has a beautiful view, kitchen, living room, dining room and two bathrooms. There is also a large jacuzzi tub in the bedroom and a hammock on the deck. We enjoy our two weeks and always can't wait to return. Thank you for another fabulous vacation.

We had a great stay here! We are members of the Villa Group and this was our first time in Cancun. Of course the beach and scenery were gorgeous. The resort is well maintained and the maintenance staff responded quickly when we had difficulty getting opening our balcony door. We enjoyed most of the restaurants we went to. We claimed a cabana on our last day and it was so comfortable and relaxing. All of the staff were friendly and responsive. The resort is quiet, as it's not in the Hotel Zone, and things settle down quickly after 10pm. However, there is nightly live entertainment and sometimes in the daytime, too. Plenty of activities for adults and children. Conveniently located near the ferry to Isla Mujeres. We will be back!

Live, loud entertainment at 9 pm whether you like it or not. Stinky seaweed on the beach every morning. Remodeling in progress when we went. Looked like they have been working on it for a long time. Many unfinished paint jobs with many different colors. Scaffolding as well. The rooms were updated nicely. Pools were nice. They cut the grass one morning and all of the clippings ended up in one of the pools. Nobody came to clean it until a few guests complained. Not enough lounges poolside and even fewer umbrellas (many are broken). A bit disappointing.

We came for our Honeymoon and had a great time, initially I thought OMG we are coming here every year to celebrate our honeymoon. WE tracked what we were upgrading, which was (1) $60 bottle of wine, lobster and oysters. We also knew that tips would add up, however the math was not mathing when we checked out and they couldnt explain $800- tips and a couple dinner upgrades should have been maybe $300-400 dollars. Nobody could explain why they just kept saying its a credit, if its a credit then why are we paying more. We will likely be disputing this with CC company. So big warning to anyone that their is a scheme behind a scheme in Mexico. DONT go to the timeshare free lunch bs, not worth it- and beware of big charges that cant be explained upon check out when most people are rushing to catch a plane, so they do not argue and just sign. Disappointed, I have not heard back from management after writing an email and I beyond this we loved the hotel. Will likely try somewhere new next time where we can relax without the time share push and unexpected charges.

Giant shout out to Leandro our waiter who anticipated our every need is Esmeralda & Susana provided excellent food and setting. We were set up on our terrace for our private meal. Leandro even turned on the terrace light that we were unaware of. For the main course we had filet mignon and mashed potatoes, that I could have sworn were made my mother. Very buttery and creamy and perfect texture. Perfect Thanksgiving, mashed potatoes.

The hotel grounds are immaculate. The food is above average to good. The pools are amazing. The issues at Villa Del Palmar Cancun are the little things, which sometimes become big things.
We stayed here in January 2025 and are here right now (May 2025). Our experience was pretty bad in January, but there was enough good that we wanted to give them a 2nd chance.
We are presently in a 2-bedroom oceanfront room. The terrace jacuzzi works well and the views are amazing. We are on the end, however, in 1803 (8th floor), and our elevator is inoperable and will be for the entirety of our stay (never communicated to us). We are over 65 and it’s not pleasant to walk completely out of our way every single time to get to the other elevators located at the front of the property.
They also have this rather peculiar habit of either entering without knocking or entering immediately after knocking. This has happened more times than I care to admit. This leaves us with no sense of privacy whatsoever. In fact, my wife and I were in our terrace jacuzzi yesterday and much to our suprise and sans request, out of nowhere appeared one of the butlers.
Every room that we’ve stayed in here has very low water pressure. It’s manageable if not preferrable.
Even though we understand the receipt system, it is really inconvenient. To boot, like other reviews, you really need to stay on your accounting game. They can and do make errors, and “conincidentally” never err on the side of the customer.
There have been other minor things: door unlock reader broken, food left in freezer from last guest, a/c breaking down (fixed once, not fixed another), no restocking of the fridge or snack bar, etc.
Some of these may sound like minor issues, and they are when merely singular in fashion. Instead, they form a photo album of issues that make for a less than stress-free stay. I will add that we have stayed in the penthouses here and they are not cheap. These types of occurences should not occur for this property and room tier. When compared with other properties that we visit with the same level of service and star levels, sadly and unfortunately, Villa Del Palmar Cancun is a failure.
Lastly, like many Trip Advisor properties, the general manager at Villa Del Pal Mar, Eduardo Alcalde, often writes that he hopes to have an opportunity to provide guests with a positive hotel experience in the future. We’re going to be here a while longer - Mr. Alcalde, you can try to make our CURRENT experience a positve one WHILE we are still here.

We recently stayed here for our honeymoon (May 10-17, 2025) and we couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay. The staff were all amazing and kind. They did anything and everything for you to make your stay even better. A few of the staff members really stood out to us.
At the elite members pool we had the servers Benjamin & Renan. We only had Benjamin for 1 day but he was sure to say hi to us every day for our 7 day stay. We then got Renan. Renan was the best pool server we have ever had. He was so on top of everything, quick service, never left empty’s on the pool deck or on the tables for very long. Quick to deliver food and drinks. Very very friendly.
Also at the elite members pool we also had Kevin & Jared who made sure that our pool spot was revered for us every morning with towels pre set. In the afternoon they would switch our towels to ensure that we always had fresh dry towels on our lounge chairs. They also passed out fruit skewers, cold towels & treats during the day.
At the lobby bar that we visited nightly during our stay, we had Obet & Adrian. They made the perfect bar team. Working hand in hand. Making us unique drinks to try, and some unique shots. If you get Obet as a bar tender, be sure to ask him for shots! He will not disappoint you. Be sure to ask Adrian for his special espresso martini, it was way better than any normal espresso martini!
All of the villa staff members were outstanding. But these 6 gentleman really made our stay even better than we could have asked for.
Thank you Benjamin, Renan, Kevin, Jared, Obet & Adrian for making our stay oh so memorable! We will be back for sure.

The best part of our stay was the absolutely amazing service from our poolside waiter, Edgar Chan. Yes, the location is great and the rooms are top quality, but the most valuable asset of this entire resort is Edgar Chan. My wife and I visited Villa Del Palmar for our honeymoon and if we ever come back, we'll be calling ahead to make sure our boy Edgar will be there. His professionalism, thoughtfulness, and attention to detail set the gold standard for service. Edgar's care made our visit an unforgettable experience. Seriously, give this guy a raise.
