We have visited a number of Caribbean islands in the past but never found the perfect spot for a variety of reasons: tired hotel, poor service, poor food, bad value and unfriendly staff to name a few.
Then we found East Winds where we are currently halfway through the perfect holiday: joyful staff, well appointed and tastefully done cottage, lovely beach with plenty of covered sun beds on the beach and by the outdoor pool, bars a plenty, excellent food in the characterful restaurant and some event on offer every evening. Trips to explore the island by land or sea are available and the twelve acres of gardens are a delight.
This small boutique hotel best serves older couples who come for winter sun and to chill. The young would miss the lack of nightlife and walkers would find the size of the property somewhat limiting. The majority of guests are English and many are repeat visitors.
For us this is heaven and we expect to thoroughly enjoy the rest of our ten days and hope to return next year.

With only 30 rooms, and no disco or casino, bring your own partner. Yoga and Pilates offered on site, as well as cooking and tasting activities. Offsite excursions also offered. Water sports offered include Hobie Cat sailing (with instruction), snorkeling, paddle boarding and snorkeling. Small beach and pool with sufficient chaise lounges provided. No need to claim before breakfast. Good shade offered at the beach (trees and structures). Small surf.
Excellent food with dinner served. Gluten free and vegan offerings. Excellent live music with dinner. Only a few danced. Roughly 80% of guests were Brits. Many were regulars. Good resort for “mature” guests. Resort setting is a garden. Abundant flowers and hummingbirds. My wife and I enjoyed each other in the beauty and quiet of this special place.
Disappointed that we did not have an expansive beach for morning walks. Rocks and trees on one end of our beach and Windjammer Resort on the other end.

Just returned home after a wonderful 9 night stay. An amazing hotel with incredible staff made this a relaxing and memorable trip.
Facilities and food as well as the beautiful beachfront setting make all the review comments very well deserved but for us it was the staff that made the holiday.. hardworking, attentive with a real personal touch.
We stayed in room 12 which we loved. close to everything. only 2 minutes walk to the beach but from our veranda felt like we had our own little world to sit and look out at the beautiful gardens.
My wife enjoyed the Yoga and Pilates classes and we both took part in the rum tasting and garden walks.
Would recommend a trip to pigeon island and Rodney bay, as well as going further a field to The Pitons.
The fact that the majority of the guests were multiple repeat visitors says it all.
We would love to come back again one day

We split our stay in St Lucia, 4 nights in the south and 6 nights further North at East Winds. We are not really beach people but we loved East Winds. There was enough to do as well as time to relax. We stayed in room 27 which was lovely, it had a sea view and the feeder on the balcony attracted lots of birds including hummingbirds.
We took part in the yoga and pilates, we had massages and I had a facial.
We went out on the hobie cat a couple of times, the paddleboards and used the snorkeling gear (although not too much to see).
We did the excursion to Pigeon Island and the walk with Simeon on a Tuesday morning and the rum tasting was brilliant.
The quality of the food and wine was exceptional and all the staff are so lovely and very helpful.
We loved every minute of our stay and would love to return again one day.
Thank you for such a great holiday.

Just paradise. What an amazing hotel with fabulous staff. We celebrated my 70th birthday in January 2025 and couldn’t have wished to have been anywhere else than East Winds. We stayed 13 years ago and it gets better each time. The decor is beautiful, food is gorgeous, entertainment is wonderful, rooms are lovely and spacious, but most importantly the staff from the management down are the best you could have in our opinion. They are so attentive and make you feel so very special. We can’t wait to visit again hopefully for my 71st birthday. I would love to name some staff that stood out, but as all the staff we met were so lovely the list would be too long. Thanks for the best holiday ever.

I have to be completely honest about East Winds boutique hotel, it’s absolutely wonderful, from our arrival where we were greeted with a lovely cocktail and super friendly welcome to our fabulous superior cottage, I found this location perfect and on the flat, the deluxe cottages we’re up a slight incline, the other thing to know before you go is getting in and out of the sea, can be tricky, but even with my mobility issues I managed to have a lovely relaxing swim each day , perfection at its best,
And I have to mention the staff, they helped to make our holiday magical, a shout out to Mickel at the pool bar,Sylvia Titus, Kirby, Jermaine for our amazing food, kerwin … and many many more, I’m sorry if I’ve missed you off, but you are all amazing , we can’t wait to return in October.

Wow!
We decided to get married at this venue and we couldn’t have chosen better.
Staff 5 star. Accommodation 5 star. Beach 5 star. Food 5 star.
It’s hard to know how our experience could be bettered.
Maybe a little less rain, but even with that the staff couldn’t be more helpful.
Staff training must be awesome because the EW staff achieve that mixture of individual service without being over familiar.
Now a few do’s and donts
Don’t fly BA from Gatwick business.
It’s a complete and utter customer nightmare. No choice of food on an old rickety plane. Try complaining to BA and you’ll be answered by a ‘bot. Shocking service shocking customer support. Plane staff onboard embarrassed. Save your money
Airport to hotel shuttle- during the day 1-25 duration ish
If you arrive on the 10 am Garwick flight you’ll have a 2hr plus trip through traffic after you arrive at 1510. Castries is a traffic nightmare.
But East winds is a must if you’re in the 40 plus age bracket. It’s quiet and tranquil.
If you’re after a boom boom disco pool time this isn’t the place. Try Sandals.
As Arnie said
‘I’ll be back’

We spent a week here after spending a week in another hotel on the south of the island. There was a completely different vibe at East Winds - very peaceful and relaxing. As mentioned in other reviews, the clientele is mostly retired British couples. In our late 50s, we considered ourselves to be younger than many of the other guests. There were however a few much younger couples including one on honeymoon, who, despite the obvious age gap, appeared to be having a great time. The other young couple, we heard were influencers, invited there by management. The hotel has very recently refurbed and the furniture and soft furnishings are fresh and colourful. Sadly, the old furniture is currently being stored in the gym meaning the gym is out of action.
We had the sense the hotel is currently at a cross roads, negotiating which route to take for the future. Do they continue to cater for the retired Brits, many of whom come back year after year, and do not want the hotel to change or do they look to attract a new future client base?. To stay successful inevitably means a business has to evolve and adapt to changing customer needs. We, in our late 50’s, are the potential returning customer base of the future, but, like many of our age, we value our fitness and seek opportunities to exercise regularly, but with the gym closed and no exercise classes my only outlet was getting up early to swim lengths in the pool before the other guests were up. Some days I couldn’t even do this until after breakfast as the pool was ‘closed’. I would love to introduce my children (in their mid- late 20’s ) to this lovely hotel, but I know they too would want a working gym and/ or fitness classes to be available. The hotel could maintain its calm tranquillity at the same time as providing more opportunities for those who wish to exercise and this might attract a new customer base
Positives
Fresh Fruit and yogurts at breakfast with
Lovely cappuccinos and lattes made to order
Afternoon tea and cakes / biscuits served from 4-5pm
Great bbq with local lobster as it was in
season and a fun cocktail competition despite horrendous weather that evening
Nikita ran the twice weekly pilates class - she just took one look at everyone and accurately diagnosed any joint issues - The Second time around, we were the only couple there so she focussed on our own particular strengths and weaknesses which was great
Damien, Devon and Joe- the water sports staff- seemed happy to take us out on a hobie , wind permitting, in the morning if we asked them. This was a highlight for us
Lovely beach- not long enough for taking walks along but lots of space for the hotel guests with enough loungers and plenty of shade and a nice and welcome breeze from the sea. Pool area with serve yourself bar. Pool big enough for swimming lengths in if desired
Negatives
First night- our dinner order had obviously been forgotten and we didn’t get any food served despite couples seated after us being served 2 courses. This was rectified once we pointed it out
The Gym was closed as it was being used to store old furniture- this was a great disappointment for us. I really hope they dispose of the furniture and refurb the gym sooner rather than later. In the meantime extra exercise classes in the gym pavilion would help compensate. The multi-talented water sports staff could help out here at no extra cost to the hotel e.g. by hosting aqua aerobics, small group guided kayaking or fitness classes
Pool opening times not advertised . On several occasions, I wanted a swim before breakfast and couldn’t as it was closed for cleaning. On one of these days, a member who was sweeping around the pool told me it was ok to go in the pool but once in the pool, another member of staff told me to get out. The pool needs to be open from 6.30 am daily please to cater for the needs of the mainly British guests who wake up very early due to the time difference.
The Fridge was not restocked with white wine- when we asked for more, a non chilled bottle was supplied an hour later so we couldn’t drink it before dinner as we had hoped to
Would we return- yes probably if the gym has re-opened

Well what can I say. Having just returned from another amazing holiday at East Winds, which makes this my 17th time, I didn’t think anything could be improved but how wrong was I! The resort has had a major refurbishment which now captures the modern with the traditional. The bright colours are fabulous. It was so good to see so many of the amazing staff that we have known for so many years. Whilst there are too many to name (they know who they are) I can honestly say the staff make this a holiday to remember and can not do enough for you. I can’t wait to return in 2025!

Just back from our first visit to St Lucia and after extensive research on places to stay we were recommended East Winds.
All we can say is wow, East Winds is an absolutely stunning resort. Nestled in idyllic tropical gardens are a series of cottages. We stayed in a newly renovated superior cottage and it was a stunning cottage. UK plug sockets so if travelling from the UK no need to take adapters. A well stocked mini fridge refilled daily and a very comfy king sized bed.
The staff are amazing, so knowledgeable and friendly and the service we received was the best we have received of any resort we have previously been to.
The food is amazing, from breakfast which is buffet as well as chef prepared food if required. Lunches again were so good with BBQs and buffet food Evening meals are truly spectacular. With each night being a four course a la carte menu with paired wine. Every night is something different. We were there for 10 days and never had the same meal twice. Again the food is some of the best food we have ever had when travelling. A huge shout out to Miriam in the restaurant who is absolutely wonderful and always greeted us with a huge smile
Small beach but plenty big enough with the smaller number of guests, plenty of sun loungers. Also a lovely pool with a self service swim up bar.
Plenty of excursions to choose from the resort and although we wanted a more relaxed holiday we went on the sunset cruise arranged by Simeon and it was wonderful. Simeon is great and he is the person who can organise any excursions on offer and something slightly different if you wish
I could keep going on all the amazing things this resort has to offer.
If I could give this resort and staff more than 5 stars I would it's exceptional.
We will definitely be returning to East Winds and to see all the wonderful staff again

Stayed at East Winds for one week (sadly) in early July.
This was our first trip to St Lucia, and what a choice we made with this resort.
Stunning location, with the most helpful, and friendliest staff we have ever met anywhere. Nothing was a problem to them, they all went over and above what is expected.
Accommodation was very clean and spacious, food and drinks were excellent quality.
Hopefully we will return one day, but would highly recommend to anyone thinking of staying
ThankYou to all, who made it a holiday to remember.

Our first trip to East Winds and it lived up to all our expectations, having been recommended to stay by our friends who joined us on the holiday.
Let's start with the staff at the hotel - quite simply the friendliest and best staff we have ever come across anywhere in the world - NOTHING is too much trouble! The restaurant in particular is fabulous - open air and beautiful views across the beach and most lunchtimes and evenings have some entertainment (the steel drums are brilliant) The food is simply fantastic.
We booked a Deluxe cottage, which was worth the extra cost, as they are beautiful.
Couple of things to note (but please don't let them put you off!) but there are lots of Mozzies so make sure you are well protected at ALL times - the hotel provides all sorts of sprays but make sure you use them. The other thing to be aware of is the 1 hr and 20 min transfer, which is a struggle for those who suffer travel sickness as it's very winding roads ... but is also a good opportunity to see the Island and both our drivers were very friendly and informative.
All in all - we would MASSIVELY recommend as a fabulous place to holiday in paradise - thank you to all the wonderful staff for making it such a special place!

This was our fourth visit to St Lucia and our first to East Winds...it will not be our last as we hope to join the many repeat guests which speaks volumes about the quality of this wonderful hotel.
We stayed in a semi detached standard room with many luxury features. The resort is small so we were close to all facilities. Room was very large and attractive with plenty of storage space, very comfortable bed, Molton Brown toiletries in the bathroom and a separate utility area with 2 sinks, tea and coffee making equipment and minibar containing white wine, beer, water and cans of soft drink, snacks and chocolate. Rooms are are arranged back to back and each has its own very private terrace with thatched parasol and seating also with a hummingbird feeder. Room was kept to a very high standard by the excellent housekeeping team.
Grounds are beautiful, mature, tropical and very well kept. The entire resort has a feeling of peace and beauty especially early in the morning when the birdsong is incredible. There are 2 areas of beach both with well spaced comfortable sunbeds and plenty of beach towels. Paddle boards, kayaks and hobie cats are available and the watersports team were really friendly and helpful.
The pool is lovely with more very comfortable sunbeds and a help yourself bar complete with everything to make your own cocktails and a fridge full of soft drinks, beer and water.
Food is excellent at all meals - buffet breakfasts and lunches with twice weekly BBQ lunch, the shrimp were amazing! Dinner was a la carte starting with an amuse bouche followed by 4 courses and a different menu each night, we enjoyed every meal and service was excellent. We also liked having a choice of specially chosen wines to complement the menu, The home made ice creams were a highlight - cashew nut and rosemary, avocado and lime, nutmeg and ginger! Our thanks to all the chefs and behind the scenes kitchen staff.
The inclusion of French champagne as part of the all inclusive really made my holiday as I am not a big cocktail drinker although those I tried were excellent especially whilst watching the spectacular sunsets.
Because the hotel only has 30 rooms the service felt very personal and was certainly the best we have ever experienced in the Caribbean. Special thanks to Wendell and Robert in the bar and the lovely waitress Jesse who always found time to chat and make sure we had everything we needed whilst always keeping on top of her workload. She is a credit to the hotel. Thanks also to Joe who was so kind and helpful when he took us out on a hobie cat which I thoroughly recommend. We were sad to leave and would like to thank every member of staff for their exceptional service...we will return without doubt!

Well what can I say! This resort lived up to its excellent reputation and trip advisor ratings! From start to extended finish, the attention to detail and exceptional service, from all the staff, we had to stay an extra 2nights due to flight cancellation, which reception dealt with promptly, allowing us to stay in our room, juggling other guests! For which we were very grateful, the room was excellent, superior garden cottage, must say it was great location for all the areas we used, very well tended to by our room service lady, the restaurant, was just excellent, food was of very high standard both in quality and flavour, and nothing was too much trouble if you had a particular issue with a dish! The servers, waitresses and waiters and bar staff were so cheerful, helpful and courteous, and fun! It was an amazing holiday, one which we will never forget and hope to, like so many of their guests, come back to in the future! Thank you to all of the staff I won’t name as I’d be scared of missing anyone out as they all are truly a credit to the hotel!!!

Our second visit to East Winds and just as special. A wonderful place to relax and recharge. The weather was perfect and the grounds stunning. Staff were delightful, warm and friendly. The water sports team were the stars for us. No request was too much for them. Their experienced tuition on sailing and paddle boarding was exceptional. Thank you Joe, Davon and Damien. Food is mostly good especially the lunchtime BBQ. Dinner was on occasions slightly disappointing and we rarely had all the courses. Just not necessary. Perhaps focus should shift to quality and not quantity offering a really top notch entree instead of lots of little courses. Our room was charming and spotlessly clean. However, we had to ask twice to have bathroom light bulb replaced and net curtain in the bedroom had seen better days! The sunset cruise was fantastic and well organised. My criticisms are minor and mentioned only to ensure this incredible place remains top notch in the hope that we will be able to return soon. We would strongly recommend East Winds if you are looking for some peace, space and luxury.
