Following the pack, it would be easy to give 5 out of 5, which seems to be the trend. There are wonderful aspects to this hotel - beautiful gardens, a gorgeous beach, wonderful pool area and gym/spa, many lovely staff, a very high standard of food quality, exceptional cleanliness, a nice welcome, a great all-inclusive deal, and a lovely relaxed attitude to checking out at a mutually agreeable time. There are also some pretty basic areas where Spice Island does not live up to its 5-star rating, when compared with other 5-star establishments, in my experience. In short they were the absence of visible leadership, the unfriendly attitude of some F&B staff towards guests, some excruciatingly long delays for food orders to be served, some issues of tiredness and poor maintenance in our suite, and a lack of information about hotel activities and facilities. I dithered between 3 and 4 for this hotel, and chose 4 in recognition of the great features and the good people, but there is room for improvement, and I would have been happy to share all of these comments, in detail, with the hotel management, if I had been asked, or if I had known who to engage.

Our second visit to Spice Island Beach Resort was just as wonderful as our first visit in Feb 2024. Our Gardenview accommodations, the gourmet food and the service were all outstanding. All of the staff from the restaurant & bar service, housekeeping, reception and even the gardeners are all friendly and accommodating. Grand Anse Beach is great for walking and swimming.

We are widely travelled and this was one of the most expensive Caribbean hotels we have stayed in, and thus our expectations were high. Unfortunately, we were disappointed in several areas. Good points Beach front rooms are fabulous, very comfortable, leading straight onto the white sand beach and turquoise sea....

We are widely travelled and this was one of the most expensive Caribbean hotels we have stayed in, and thus our expectations were high. Unfortunately, we were disappointed in several areas. Good points Beach front rooms are fabulous, very comfortable, leading straight onto the white sand beach and turquoise sea. Grand Anse beach is great to walk along (although very busy when large cruise boats visit). Most of the staff are very friendly (especially Katrina) and service is generally good. The hotel has a total no-smoking policy, even on your sunbed on the beach. I wish more hotels would introduce this. Smoking is so disgusting. Bad points On several evenings there was nothing we liked on the dinner menu in Olivers. The food was pretentious, overly complex, and often unhealthy, with few fresh vegetables. Several other guests also complained about the food and the poor quality of the all-inclusive wine compared with other hotels. The breakfast buffet had limited healthy choice: no muesli; no bananas (in the Caribbean!) or pineapple on several days. There were usually unacceptably long waits before a cooked breakfast arrived. In its advertising the hotel claims that “Every moment at Spice Island resort is a haven of relaxation”. However, the weekly game of Bingo (played over loud speakers) at the bar while we were having sunset drinks or the shouting during the Cocktail Blind Tasting competition in the restaurant during our lunch were far from relaxing. Such events should be held at times and in places where they do not disturb other guests. There was a shortage of sunbeds with good shade. Guests put towels out to reserve sunbeds before breakfast, but then did not use them for 4 hours. Not what one expects at a five-star hotel.

This well laid out hotel with accommodation on either side of public eating and entry areas. Everything basically faces towards the magnificent Grand Anse Beach giving views over the water to St George's. There can be few better gardens in the entire Caribbean than those that spread across the accommodation....

Everything basically faces towards the magnificent Grand Anse Beach giving views over the water to St George's. There can be few better gardens in the entire Caribbean than those that spread across the accommodation. The meet and greet was first class. We were in rooms 51 and 23, both having plunge pools in their private gardens. Room 23 was larger, with a private fully stocked bar, a very comfortable fully king sized bed, spotlessly presented and upkept by the team. The bar team was brilliant, fronted by Dexter with the likes of the ever happy Jeron and Kevin. Seriously good guys. The breakfast was a joy with beautiful fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereals etc and if you wanted, a good variety of hot dishes. Lunch and dinner were quite different with perhaps lunch providing more local dishes. Do try the Goat Roti if available. The serving teams were in the main most helpful and even smiled at their guest's poor jokes! Whilst the food from the kitchen could take time, the upside was it felt freshly cooked. If not enjoyed, it was sent back, and senior staff would come out afterwards asking what went wrong and how could they rectify. The concierge headed by Elizabeth, went way beyond being just helpful, she basically enabled our holiday. She organised everything off site, including a historic walking tour to St George's, a food tour across the island which included stopping for fresh coconut, snow cones, together with lunch and snacks etc. There is a barbecue but with the best will in the world the food is much better at the hotel. We tried several restaurants, and our preferences were 'Sails' overlooking the water, 'Dexter's' (the ex-Calabash chef's home) and Calabash itself, a totally different experience to Spice Island. If I have left anything out, forgive me. This is a most delightful hotel well worthy of five stars, giving the most relaxing times under a constant 25 to 30 degrees of heat. will we be visiting again? Yes.

Grenada is not known for all-inclusive hotels and it's better that way. Spice Island stands out as one of the few all-inclusive options on the island, but it’s far from the standard formulaic experience. Everything is first class! The staff is super friendly and competent, the food is delicious and fresh, and the location on the quiet end of Grand Anse is simply the best. The hotel is quite small so it really feels like personalised luxury. The highlights for me included the gorgeous and private Luxury Almond Pool Suite, absolutely delicious desserts and the lovely yoga pavilion on the beach. I had a perfect two-day break and will be returning for sure, as it was one of the best hotel experiences I have had in Grenada. I vacillated between 4 and 5 stars. The presence of large family groups over Christmas killed it for me. Dominated meal times and sucked up service / kitchen time. We had a sea grape room which couldn’t be faulted. As others have said, avoid the vet low numbers by the water sports centre. We were10, so that was ok. Bar service was slow / inconsistent in the evenings. Wine was relatively low cost Australian and S American. Purchased bottles off the wine list reasonably priced. Took us a few days to realise there was a wine list. It was only as we saw on Christmas Day that people had bottles. Too many buffets at lunch and dinner, probably as the holiday season. Food was good generally. Would I go back - maybe. Staff did generally try to please

Old fashioned elegance with service to match. Set in an idyllic location at the end of Grand Anse Beach, it rests on a dreamy section of the beach, provides superb food, and the staff that are determined to ensure you have a wonderful experience.

The resort is faultless! Impeccable! Everything was truly wonderful. Excellent accommodation, food, staff, bar, location service……. Stylist beach front rooms with extremely comfortable beds, well stocked minibar. All extremely clean. Excellent attention to detail. Would love to go back..

Spice Island Beach Resort - Grenada Dec 2024 - leaving tomorrow :( Grenada much like many of the smaller Caribbean islands are often overlooked due to cost, flight connections and general inconvenience to reach, myself included, simplicity got us in the same old locations but we try... This was our first trip without our children and it was serene and wonderful. They may be kid friendly, but it’s definitely a quieter, tranquille resort, where after 1030/11pm everything is done… That said, this place is a pink pearl of a gem in a drop in the bucket of hotels in the Caribbean, it's no wonder it's a 6 Star Diamond award winner, it's truly a slice of heaven. Please vote for Spice Island to earn it’s 6th star, it’s seemingly always in contention! For anyone considering island honeymoon, or simply a week in paradise, luxury and can afford it (I recognize this wasn't free nor at high season), it is truly magnificent. Worth every dollar and hour spent getting here. Remains to this day a small (64 room but never really at capacity) boutique hotel privately owned by the front and center Hopkin Family. The second you are out of the transfer, your bags are handled, smiles are provided in abundance, care and the little details that leave a lasting reminder of what true service excellence, true customer experience, care and how wonder humans can be to one another. You are guided by a Manager or higher through check in, provided cold face towels and a prosecco to refresh you upon entry. You are walked to your room, your room laid out for you, any and all small requests handled in a timely and professional fashion. It's marvelous. Breakfast = a small buffet of pastries, cereal, juices and fresh fruit that you point to and a Buffet Station waiter will provide you, a la carte is also there. Breakfast is about 45mins altogether. Upon completion as you exit, you make lunch reservation time and select the same for dinner with both being a la carte and various menu options. Lunch - similar relaxed dress code but the British and the staff expect t shirts, shorts and women to wear a proper cover up, none of these trashy see through things... show them that respect and they in turn will wait on you hand and foot... including again little things like a purse hook for the table. Incredible. Dinner, is a 1.5-2hour process, 3 course meal. Truly the BEST food we have had in all our island vacations (Turks, Antigua, Barbados,DR, Mexico, etc. we’ve travelled well...) and it's not close, maybe St Vincent (Palm Island), else, without a blink no surprise the #1 Hotel of the country on the #1 beach of the country. On the menu, Lamb, duck, chicken, pork, veal, seafood (lobster, scallops, shrimp)... Name it they will figure it out and make it. It's one of a kind. The deliver of the dishes is all Michelin star level. Clean dishes, nothing out of place, comfortable portions but not silly. It's an experience, people say "it's a vibe..." well it's more than just that. Our room is Seagrape Beachfront and it's the best. The staff say lots have reserved the private pool rooms but the beachfront is untouchable, you have 2 private beach chair, umbrella, hammock, sofa and table set outside which is 20 yards from the PRESTINE generally calm waters surrounding the country. It's gorgeous, it's not Turks, but it's a 2nd place for us and Aruba is upcoming in a few weeks, so will see... There is a kids club, but there's 2 kids here in total. Mostly for adults. That said, I did peek at the kids menu and was slightly jealous ! Night time bar is lively, again, the people are great, and no matter how busy it is, you'll never see the bottom of your Glass, they're great. It's slow in tempo but slow and steady. Dress code for dinner is a thing. They make sure you respect the rules...that said, servers circulating with Rose, Red and White wine, etc. All alcohols are top shelf, by brand and cocktail made properly, nit like other resorts with freepouring… Tipping helps, they're already very caring and gracious this just makes them go above and beyond. We went for a walk to their local Supermarket (500m away) and it's cute, some stores, and an IGA... yes the grocery store. They have everything! It's slightly overpriced but it's got ALL snack options, meals, meats, alcohols, fruits, literally an IGA. Very safe to venture around. Housekeeping and Mini bar restocked with care, took note of your preferences and made sure to stock them. We were in Room #40 and truly was amazing… This place can only be described as the cream de la creme and that's doing it a disservice. Simply. Wow. TripAdvisor has a lot of reviews, all 5 stars, no surprise to me at all even though I was skeptical coming in… Absolute paradise. Shout out to Seymor, Nia, Kenitta, Fabian and the management team, always willing to help out. Katrina, Shawn, Tracey, Shirlyn, Kevin, Lyndonna, Rachel, Reannah, Kaleshur  ans the countless others whom I may have forgotten, THANK YOU.

Luxury All-Inclusive is the way to go. The service here is wonderful from the moment you arrive to the moment you depart. I love that this is an ultra luxury property AND that it is All-Inclusive. The rooms are quite large and spacious; the beach is amazing, the pool is clean and in a nice location, only steps away from the bar and steps away from the beach. The spa is quite nice and the property is easy to move around. Def a great place to stay in Grenada if your budget allows.

We returned to this beautiful resort with friends who we met there in 2015. We were looking forward to seeing the changes made in the last couple of years & the overall impression didn't disappoint with the lighter coloured furnishings in public areas. The staff are as welcoming & efficient as ever & it was nice to see the familiar face of Fabian still there; now in a more senior managerial role. We chose an Anthurium Pool Suite this time & enjoyed spending a bit of time on our own terrace - though the small pool was very cold despite the air temperature! We were told they will now be starting a programme of bedroom renovations &, although they are very clean, comfortable & have obviously been repainted regularly, the furnishings & bathrooms are now outdated. New technology such as a wide screen tv, Alexa & Nespresso machines have been added. All food & drink was once again of a very high standard though the evening menu didn't vary during our week except for a Caribbean theme eve. There are a number of dishes to choose from & some specials each day; however we found lamb dishes were the special on 3 consecutive nights. It was very low occupancy while we were there but that didn't matter too much to us as we were there with friends. We had the main pool area pretty much to ourselves most afternoons. Lovely comfortable sunbeds with plenty of umbrellas & multiple towels. We loved our return visit but found the stop-off in St Lucia in both directions a bit tedious on the BA flight. We have recommended Spice Island to others over the years & everybody has loved it there. It's still the nicest Caribbean resort we've been to but then again it's by far the most expensive!

Spice Island Beach Resort had been on my travel list for a while so we decided to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary there a few weeks ago. It exceeded every expectation from the moment we arrived!! The property is beautiful and well maintained. It sits on the most beautiful beach with stunning water. The rooms are just as pictured and have everything you need. Plenty of chairs and secluded spaces all over the beach so never a need to reserve chairs!! It is quiet and private- almost like being on your own island. If you are looking for a party or Sandals atmosphere this is not it. That is what makes the resort special! The dining areas are just as pretty and all overlook the beach and water. And the food!!! It really is a 5 star chef prepared all inclusive meal plan!! You order off of a menu and there are chef specialties too. Some meals it was so hard to decide between lobster or the red snapper,etc. We also booked excursions to see the highlights of Grenada. They were personally crafted by the concierge staff and were for just us. We toured the nutmeg museum, chocolate factory, waterfalls, and a private catamaran trip. All were fabulous! And as a special treat, they sent picnic lunches with us!! But the REAL REASON to come to Spice Island Beach Resort is the staff!!! I have traveled extensively and I have never felt more at home or welcome at a resort before. Literally every single person greeted us with our names, a smile, asked if they could do anything for us, how our day was, etc. They wanted to make sure the food was perfect, the room was perfect, they wanted to go beyond the extra step. And the thing is, it was genuine. I don't want to list names of staff in case I leave someone off accidentally but I am pretty sure they all know how much I appreciated them. They made a special trip very memorable and we will be back!!! :))

We just returned from our 4th stay and it was excellent. We really liked the decor/style updates, the new no-buffet breakfast set up and, as ever, the whole place is beautifully kept, especially the gardens and beach areas. We really loved the beautiful sea grape beach room which made early morning swims both easy and a must! The view from the room is special. The food is excellent, we would have liked more frequent menu changes but the daily specials were often a great option. As with every visit we’ve made the staff make this place a real pleasure and are outstanding in every department. Special mentions to Katrina, Nia, Gary, Kashir, Shawn, Danielle, Lydonna, Reannah and Stephanie, with apologies to all those whose names we didn’t catch, all excellent. It had been 7 years since our previous visit but I am pretty sure it won’t be that long before we go back! Highly recommend.

From a private guided tour around the island the water sports and even the underwater sculptures we even had oil down the local dish, dodgy dock was great as well wall street was a true Caribbean experience. We travelled with British Airways Holidays, and after a delayed long flight we arrived around 18.30hrs at the hotel on 30th June to be told the Island was under a Government curfew and Island wide lock down. The hotel was fully prepared for hurricane Beryl to hit, with an expected landfall by 2am that night. The curfew & lock down meant bars were closed, restaurants shut, and the hotel preparations included all guest area furniture stowed away, with few guest remaining. We were quickly booked in, provided with some food in our room and given instructions to then go to the Hurricane shelter where we would spend at least the first night of our anniversary holiday. The hurricane room was a small internal conference room with blocked off windows, where we and the remaining guests tried to get some sleep on our tightly packed rows of sun beds. We learnt that the hotel had done its best to minimise guest numbers, with most leaving early or rearranging dates, allowing the staff to ensure they were able to look after those who had to remain. The hotel had not contacted us ahead. They were clear that it was the responsibility of our agent (BA Holidays) to alert us to the emerging (dangerous) situation and change of circumstances, and they would expect alternatives to be offered to us. During our 10 night holiday at the resort we saw that the hotel staff did their very best to ensure the small number of remaining guests were kept supplied with food, and looked after as well as possible in the difficult circumstances. They were clear that safety was the first priority. The hotel had suffered significant hurricane damage 20 years earlier and they were clearly well prepared. The clean down after the hurricane was impressive, and whilst it took several days, due to the lock down limitations restricting staff numbers, everything was spotlessly clean as they gradually restored services. The last few days of our holiday gave us an insight into what we should have experienced, and it was very lovely. Thankfully all guests, staff and their families were safe following Hurricane Beryl. Work was underway across the Island to restore essential services and support the work to address the devastation on Carriacou. It was impressive to see the professionalism of the hotel team who remained on site with us through the hurricane and aftermath. They are a credit to the hotel, and the efforts that were made to restore the resort to normal as soon as possible were commendable. Sadly that same cannot be said for British Airways Holidays, who did not even followup to see if we were ok. British Airways Holidays had made no contact with us ahead of the holiday, they did not warn us of the situation, nor alert us on the "close down" of the hotel. They did not offer any options to change dates or cancel and have subsequently said it was our responsibility to check for hurricanes as "the flights remain operational until the hurricane path is certain". BA did however change the planned flight path so they could drop off passengers in Grenada before the airport shut down due to the hurricane, which happened immediately following the departure of their onward BA flight to St Lucia. Therefore BA were fully aware of the situation and hurricane path. Despite following up with the complaints team and the CEO of BA, there has been no attempt at customer care or redress from BA. Recently we received a call from the BA destination holiday representative over 2 months after we left, to ask if we were in resort and available?! Had we been given an option we would have sought to avoid landing into the direct path of a hurricane, where days of local preparations and Government restrictions locked down the Island, closed down facilities, & where we added to the burden on hotel staff by increasing guest numbers. There was sufficient opportunity for our agent to offer alternatives and not place lives at risk. However the hotel handled the situation well and the final few days of our visit showed what a wonderful resort this is, reflected in my score, although we were not able to experience the full luxury of this resort holiday as we had planned.

This is an amazing hotel located on the stunning Grand Anse beach. Upon making our reservation we were immediately sent an information pack detailing what to see and do on the island, excursions and other restaurants on the island which we found very helpful. The staff are so friendly and welcoming and couldn’t do enough for you, they remember everyone’s names which is very impressive and do their best to make sure you have a wonderful stay. The beach is beautiful as is the pool area and there were always plenty of sun loungers free. The rooms are lovely and look exactly as they do in the pictures. We were blown away by the quality of the food, it was exceptional. We stayed at a different hotel for the first part of our stay as we wanted to have a car and sightsee and try some of the local restaurants but the food we had at Spice Island was better than any other meal we had in Grenada. We weren’t keen on the white house wine but the rose was especially good and we also enjoyed the red wine, the cocktails were great. There was usually entertainment in the evenings such as a steel band or live singers which we really enjoyed. We are not usually ones to return to the same place as there’s a huge world out there to discover but we are already planning to return to Spice Island. If you are wanting a relaxing, beach holiday with beautiful surroundings, excellent food and amazing staff then this is the perfect place. We can see why they have so many repeat visitors!

An incredible hotel, with remarkable food and the most welcoming of staff. We woke up every morning having to pinch ourselves to make sure we weren't dreaming! The accommodation and beach is absolutely stunning, but it is the people at Spice Island who really make it so special. Just perfection.
