Entirely frustrating and disheartening experience. My husband and I booked a celebratory weekend with the gold experience at the Banff Springs. Understand it was a last minute trip and booked around 4pm as we got very good news that day and wanted to celebrate. Unfortunately the hotel was unable to adapt to a same day booking. They had no rooms available, nor available in the upgraded category through Amex fine hotels and resorts. For the incredibly high price, why allow it to be booked? We couldn’t get a room for 2 hours from arrival around 6, keeping in mind booking through Amex aims a noon check in. Not only that, the staff were incredibly flippant and honestly quite rude for a “gold” experience. They offered for us to sit in the lounge, but sorry, not pet friendly. We waited in the car. Our belongings however were left on a bell cart in an open hallway where multiple people walked by and had access to. I hoped for a wow-worthy experience at one of the most iconic hotels in Canada, but so far we’ve had a significantly better experience at the Moxy in town.

The massage at the spa by MJ was the highlight of my trip - followed by a relaxing afternoon at the spa amenities! This hotel looks like a castle from a Harry Potter movie. Steeped in history, it’s in the centre of a national park with fantastic views down the valley and mountains surrounding. The gold lounge was great with really good food offerings at breakfast and early evening canapés. The rooms are small, like European big city small but the view is great and you are paying to be in the location not the quality or space of the room.

Have been here many times and really disappointed this time, seems to have slipped a level. Food portions were really small and the salad was 5 leaves and was told would have to roll these and fit the minute salad into, not impressed. Real shame for such a landmark and brand.

A great hotel is not about some social media popping gimmick, it’s about getting the basics spot on, and the Fairmont here delivers in spades.

I booked my wife, & mother in law a stay for my wife's birthday in January 2025 whilst I was in Australia. To say that the team at Fairmont Banff Springs went above and beyond is an understatement. Every single thing was perfect. All of it. Flowers, champagne, even a birthday cake was arranged by staff. My wife loved the room, the view and the amenities. The attention to detail, genuine care and incredible service really topped off their stay. This place by far exceeded all expectations. I cannot recommend this establishment enough. Sincere special thanks to Elle for her incredible help. We can't wait to stay as a family in the summer. A 10/10 experience!

This is still one of my favorite properties on earth. Winter or summer you never get better views, service or facilities. This property has been setting standards for 150 years, and continues to perform. You can explore the property for days and still find new nooks and crannies. Whatever the rate (it's high), it is worth every penny. Don't trouble yourself with activities outside the hotel property until you have fully taken advantage of the dining and activities in the hotel.

We have nothing but positive things to say about our experience. All the staff here were incredibly accommodating and professional, from the concierge, valet, check-in, servers, to tour guides. The buildings are beautiful and impressive. We booked a Vermillion room, which was in the original building with a beautiful mountain view. Our room had a lot of character, with beveled ceilings and gabled window seating area. The furniture was incredibly lovely modern and thoughtful with plenty of USB ports included for convenience. Our bathroom was on the small size, so we just had to stay organized to make it work. We had a very large walk-in closet that I took advantage of to keep all my winter layers in order. The food here is incredible. For breakfast we did both the buffet and a la cart, all delicious. We like the ambience of pubs so ate in the Waldhaus pub, where they made delicious schnitzel, and at the Ramsay Bar, which serves the same menu as the Castello Italiana. It was all beautifully decorated for Christmas and felt very magical. We went for a dip in the outdoor pool after our wilderness walk with the hotel guide, what a wonderful way to spend an afternoon. We also did the quick history tour and learned about the hotel's beginnings which was very interesting. I hope to come back one day to stay in a different season, and to try out some of the other restaurants and take in the high tea service.

My wife and I had a tremendous stay at Fairmont Banff Springs. I skied Lake Louise and Sunshine Village, my wife enjoyed the spa and we both took several snowy walks around the hotel grounds, the beautiful walking paths around town and to the village itself. This is one of the greatest ski destinations in the world, and a first class town. The Fairmont is a serious hotel for those ready to enjoy the incredible Banff area and the staff are clearly dedicated to giving you a first class experience. They express pride in the hotel, its history and all they have to offer. Tips: Gold level is a worthwhile upgrade; take advantage of shuttles; all hotel restaurants are excellent and Waldhaus is a unique experience; take advantage of local walking trails.

Absolutely wonderful ambiance and service. Delicious dining and superb service. We had no complaints about this luxury hotel. The historical architecture and artwork were outstanding. The outdoor patio was perfect for a drink by the fire pits.

Called into the Rundle bar for a few drinks. Just an incredible, friendly service from the guy (Henry) that served us. This hotel needs more staff with his integrity, friendliness and professional approach. An easy five star review, earned by himself ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We stayed at the Fairmont for my birthday over the Easter Weekend. I can’t tell you how much we enjoyed our stay. Exceptional service, amenities & activities. Gold service is unbelievable. I’ve never felt so spoiled & cant wait to come back.

Traveling from NW British Columbia, my wife & I stayed for three nights, Apr. 22 to the 25th. We experienced the Fairmont Gold hospitality and, I must say, it was first class. I have never encountered more professional, accommodating or friendy staff as at this luxurious hotel. They went above & beyond to make our stay a most memorable one and the fifth floor experience was one we shall always cherish, every aspect of it! Yes, to some, more accustomed to large modern hotels, the rooms might seem on the small side. Having said that, our King bedroom was more than adequate, with a very comfortable bed, lovely view of the mountains, modern conveniences and tasteful decor. We spent little time in our room actually, preferring to enjoy and absorb all the amenities that this extensive and fascinating "Castle in the Rockies" has to offer. We were not disappointed. Thank you all for a most delightful three days...we shall return.

But don’t stay here. Come have dinner and enjoy the views. Stay in a more comfortable room/hotel or B&B

Everything was beyond our expectations, which were already high. Amazing welcome, check in, all staff, outdoor pool, room, View, Rundle Bar, 1888 Chop house, food wine, cocktails. Such a great treat. Special from beginning to end. Thank you!

This has been on my bucket list for years. We decided to splurge on this trip, and it was worth every penny. We stayed in a Fairmont Gold King room, and it exceeded our expectations. From the time we arrived we were treated like royalty. It was such a personalized experience, with exceptional service. Our room was beautiful, clean, and the bed super comfortable. The bathroom is small, but very modern. The LeLabo bath products were amazing. Other than the service, the breakfast, evening canapés and dessert made the splurge worth it. We never ate a meal in a restaurant while we stayed here. The food in the lounge area was wonderful with lots of options. This hotel is amazing, absolutely loved our stay.

I wasn't able to ski while there, so hit the spa which was lovely with a great array of water features to use while at the spa. Very historic and special place.

From the second you step on the Fairmount’s ground, the staff is kind and ready to assist. We were upgraded to a suite (Room 211) which includes the VIP service. The VIP team responded so fast to text messages within minutes and really cared about meeting our needs. Room service was fast and reliable. (Special shoutout to Jack at reception who was so sweet and just genuinely happy to have us stay at the hotel!) Restaurants: Castello Italiana: 10/10. We absolutely loved this restaurant. The food was delicious, the ambience was quaint and the service was one of the best we’ve ever had (Special shoutout to Randy and our AMAZING waiter David. I wish all waiters were like David; and Randy if you are reading this, we tried your recommendations at the bar and love them!!) The Vermillion Room: 8/10. We had breakfast and dinner. Breakfast is good. Dinner is ok. Our breakfast waiter, Matthew, went above and beyond. He told us all about the Fairmount exclusive coffee; which was honestly some of the best coffee we ever had. Tours: we did the Hotel History Tour, the Surprise Corner Tour and the Twilight Tour. They were all excellent! Some of the information on the tour overlaps a bit but overall loved hearing all the facts about the hotel and wildlife. (A special shoutout goes to the tour guide whose name unfortunately we can’t remember… he is from New Zealand) Random Notes: they will give you free water bottles at no charge; the stay comes with free bus vouchers; the bar food is very fancy, maybe too fancy. Overall, we would 100% recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a truly special experience.
