If I was able to give 6 out of 5 stars I would… the Fingal experience is that good… I often stay at the Fingal, mostly for events when I’m through in Edinburgh. The services and staff are simply incredulous. The wonderful chef / food and of course Matt my favourite cocktail person on the planet.. It’s unique, boutique, functional, luxuries galore at the Fingal, but the most remarkable are the staff who work there. Rui was the front office person that greeted us the first time on arrival at the Fingal and he is one of the key reasons my wife and I come back. Nothing is too much, he’s so gracious and makes the stay amazing, he’s not the only one but of course he was the first person I met at the Fingal.

An oasis of quality and charm offering luxurious rooms and first class catering in unique surroundings. Attentive staff and an excellent wine pairing for supper offered at reasonable cost. Free car parking adjoining the vessel. Lounge facilities busy at weekends. Treat yourself.

Absolutely loved our stay, staff went out their way to help and very friendly, rooms were amazing and food outstanding, both breakfast and dinner, plenty choice at the breakfast table, evening meal was exceptional, certainly would love to stay again,

Amazing dinner on Valentine’s Night @fingaledinburgh . Such a special vessel that used to be a lighthouse tender now an absolutely beautiful hotel. All the cabins are named after lighthouses…..we were in ‘Ardnamurchan’. A very special two night stay in a wonderfully appointed room, with access to the outside deck....

The breakfasts were fantastic and wins the top prize for the best Eggs Benedict! Everyone looked after us so well, we were made to feel very special. Thanks to everyone xxx

From the moment we arrived, we were treated like royalty. The cabins were luxurious, the food was excellent and the customer service was the best that I have ever experienced. We will most certainly be back for another helping of 5-star luxury!

Absolutely exquisite! All members of staff are exceptional. Perfectly positioned to enjoy all that Leith has to offer. Superb cocktails and excellent breakfasts. I really did not want to leave. Huge thanks to everyone concerned. Note to self: book longer next time!

Greeted warmly, very efficient check in, lovely friendly staff, fabulous food, very comfortable and well appointed room. Bell Rock. Surprisingly quiet all night. Great for a special occasion and very accessible from city centre to it by bus or tram. Parking for those who drive. Would go again no problem

We came to stay for valentines weekend, our first as a married couple. Every single point was amazing. Cosy hotel room. Excellent breakfast. Superb dinner and cocktails on both nights. We loved every single bit of our stay here and can't wait to do it again. We loved it.

The selection for dinner was excellent and the choices we made for ourselves were excellent. Would love to return one day

The Fingal did not disappoint. She has been beautifully converted into a great experience. Our room was excellent and the comforts were most appreciated. The service from arrival to leaving was excellent. Breakfast was quite memorable and the first gluten free full breakfast I have ever had with black pudding...

Luxury experience from beginning to end. We were lucky to receive an upgraded room and found it well equipped with quality bedding, finishings and facilities. The staff were extremely pleasant, and the service throughout was first class. We ate our evening meal in the restaurant and the food was excellent, with good choices. The only negative point was perhaps the lack of public seating areas but with our stay being in January this was not so much of an issue for us. A very enjoyable retirement/birthday treat?

It's no secret that I am in love with this wonderful ship. I have reviewed it twice before and have little to add to the very positive comments previously made. We have stayed and eaten here a few times now and have never been disappointed. The cabins are lovely, immaculately clean and comfortable; the staff are welcoming, attentive and keen to please. The "public" areas are beautiful. The Lighthouse restaurant offers as good food as you will get anywhere in Edinburgh and the cocktail list is original and seductive. There is free secure parking close by. Our connection with the Fingal goes back decades and it gives us great pleasure to see the old lady living out her supposed retirement with elegance and luxury. If you haven't been, you are missing a treat. As a starter taster you could try their afternoon tea deal which elevates the concept of afternoon tea to a different level. I would give six stars if they were available!

I just cannot find fault with this place - thought I found a tiny one, then discovered I was mistaken. But before diving into my review, first I feel the need for a shout-out to thank my parents for the timing of my Birthday which led to us visiting Fingal to celebrate this occasion on a cold, February's day - admittedly, this is probably not the most glorious time to see Edinburgh, but nothing about this stay was cold or miserable - quite the opposite.... We'd read the reviews before going, but thought it couldn't be that good - as it turned out it really was the highest, most exceptional quality at every level. We were so well looked after and felt like we were treated like royalty - and these guys have the actual experience to know how to treat royalty, due to their patron, Princess Anne's visits! Little chocolates with a birthday wishes card just made it even more special The room was spectacular, unique and themed but luxurious through-and-through and we'd decided that the occasion warranted one of the mid-level suites - which did not disappoint. We also booked a table at the on-board restaurant and the food was some of the, if not *the* best we've ever had and I'm a big enough chap to show that I've enjoyed more than a few meals in my time! At the end of the meal, the whisky range was glorious, discussion and advice with the bar staff superb, and as silly as it sounds, asking if I could take my final half-finished glass of whisky from the restaurant to our room, but instead them insisting on it being be delivered there (and arriving before us on a little tray with extra treats) just felt like such an above-and-beyond special thought. We're really not special in any way to deserve our glasses to be carried those few steps from the restaurant to our room, but Fingal wanted to do that for us because nothing is too much trouble for them and every little thing is special. I say "of course" - but it's really hard for it to be expected, but of course, the room's been prepared and the bed's been turned down for the evening. There's even a "wee step" they put by the side of your bed to help you get in. Everything else aside about the actual stay - which couldn't be faulted - it's the feeling that you just know you're experiencing the best of the best which is what really makes Fingal set the standard for every other place we go. Part of me dare not go back, because I just fear it can't possibly be as good again as it was the first time we visited Fingal. So despite all that gushing - everyone just wants to know what was the one tiny fault?! Well, the compass emblem printed on the ceiling was triggering my OCD because they'd even made the effort to reverse the order of the cardinal points (being upside down) - but it didn't appear to be pointing North. Lesson learnt - don't use your phone's compass app inside a big metal ship - coz as soon as I stepped back onto the dock, the needle pointed in the correct direction!

Booked this for my mum's 70th birthday and I can't tell you how amazing it was for them...from the moment my mum and dad boarded to the moment they checked out they were treated like royalty...simone looked after them so well and there were wee personal touches everywhere..I can't thank the Fingal Team enough for an amazing experience for my mum (andrena higgins) and Dad (john)...our family and friends will definitely be booking in the future ❤️
