A lovely historic grand hotel with a fabulous location on the river and overlooking the Old Town including Fort Hohensalzburg and all the cathedrals. Very helpful and courteous staff and several restaurants including a nice bar. The five star place to stay in Salzburg.

Our stay at the Sacher Hotel was absolutely wonderful—our only regret is that it was far too short! This means we’ll just have to return to beautiful Salzburg during the summer to spend more time at this exceptional hotel.
From the moment we arrived, every member of the staff, from the reception desk to the restaurants, went above and beyond to make our visit special. Their kindness, attentiveness, and willingness to assist truly stood out. One example of their exceptional service was when I mentioned how much I enjoyed the oatmeal cookies at the spa. By the time we returned to our room after dinner, there was a plate of those delicious cookies waiting for us—a thoughtful and magical touch that perfectly reflects the Sacher experience.
I also want to highlight Ronja, our hotel tour guide, who was an absolute delight. Her charm and knowledge added an extra layer of enjoyment to our stay.
We can’t wait for our next visit to a Sacher Hotel.

While the staff and restaurant were GREAT, this hotel needs to improve their cleaning standards which are low.
Kensington Travel booked us here, so expectations were high. The carpets in hallway to our room were. covered with dirt and stains, and the rug in our room was dirty. The suite was lovely, so we didn’t worry about it.
But the next day after coming back to our room tired in the late afternoon, the bed was a mess as was the bathroom. The frig and coffee were not restocked.
Called the desk to request it be cleaned, we were told all they could was turn down service. They gave us a handful of decaf pods nobody wants and did no cleaning. We don’t expect new towels and sheets, but for the price of our suite, at least make the bed.
Will discuss this with our travel agent, as we don’t recommend Sacher for the price you pay which was a splurge for us. We were spoiled after staying at the Imperial in Vienna and Annatarra in Budapest. Those hotels give you what you pay for.

The Sacher Salzburg is a hotel that understands the very essence of service and quality. Everything and I mean everything is done to a level of precision and quality you just don’t see any where anymore. I travel a lot and stay at the Peninsula and the Mandarin Oriental which are my go to hotels.. but Sacher is on a whole different level and if I am in Austria, there is no where else I am going to be staying but the Sacher. The rooms have a great view of the river with high ceilings, heated floors in the bathroom, a shower you can have party in and the most luxurious snacks and fully stocked frig which comes with the room. But what makes the difference is the staff; Martha was extraordinary and she makes you feel as if you just walked into your home. Her quick thoughtfulness and she is always thinking how to make every experience even better - that comes from someone who loves her job and cares about their guests. Wow what an incredible job taking care of my wife and I. She absolutely made our Christmas and we will be back next year too! Lastly but not least was the restaurant, some of the best Schnitzel in Austria but what really impressed me was Venison Wellington! I’ve got today that was the most tender venison as I have ever had. My wife loved the Schnitzel and felt it was far better than anything she had in Vienna or anywhere else in Austria. So yes, we are going to be back and keep coming back thanks to a wonderful team of people who truly know how to run a hotel.

The welcome amenity of the sacher cake was so sweet. The breakfast has a lot of selection and the staff are all super welcoming. The receptionist who check us in was also very friendly. The bellman which we saw every day was very helpful. The sacher grill served delicious food and dessert.

This was our second stay at the hotel. We love it. Great location right on the river across fromt he Old Town…a short walk across the bridge with all the locks. Still family run, but totally Five Star! We had a room with a small balcony on the river and a perfect view of the old town and Hohensalzburg. The staff is terrific; nice to a person. Great small bar for cocktails; and two excellent restaurant choices on premises: The Zirbelzimmer with it’s very traditional menu and decor…complete with deer antlers, etc, and excellent Austrian food; and The Sacher Grill which was updated since our last visit 8 years ago; stylish yet still casual with nice upscale traditional Austrian cuisine as well. Excellent breakfast buffet overlookiing the river, and of course, the Sacher Cafe, complete with the original Sacher Torlte. Valet parking is available at 55 EU a night. Walking distance to anywhere in the old town. The Christmas season is great with the Christmas Markets at The Dom and Residenzplaz. Salzburg is a wonderful romantic town; and the Hotel Sacher is definitely part of the charm! We look forward to returning. Highly recommend!

We stayed at the Hotel Sacher Salzburg for five nights and found it to be an extraordinary experience. The hotel is well situated between the old city and the new city, with a delightful bridge to the old city right on your doorstep.
The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Simon was our go to Concierge who effortlessly answered our many questions and helped us navigate the OBB train system. Ursula went well out of her way to provide us with a custom blended vegetable juice each morning. The breakfast has an incredible range of cheese, fish, yogurts in addition to being able to order from a menu for eggs, French toast and such. The fitness room includes a fully equipped sauna and a steam room.
The bath in our room included a full size tub as well as a stand up shower, with gorgeous tile and top notch fittings. The two toilets included built in bidets ("smart toilets").
All in all a great experience and we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again in the future.

The staff are very professional and the service was friendly and helpful all times.
We were offered an upgraded room which was facing the river and was very well appointed. The bed was comfortable.
The restaurants are wonderful in the hotel with many to choose from and of course you can purchase Sacher Torte in take home boxes or to eat straight away.
The only negative was the difficulty of arriving by car, as there is no place to pull up or park in front of or behind the hotel.
Loved the Sacher and would return any time.
