A nice resort that could benefit from actually opening their amenities

The views are beautiful but the property itself is dated. My husband and I spent 3 days at the end of our Japan honeymoon and it felt like we were staying at a resort that was getting ready to close up for the season. The pools are only open for a few hours each day, poolside service is non-existent, and the "gym" (a few treadmills squeezed into a tiny room) doesn't open until 9am.
I know alcohol culture is different in Japan vs. the USA but can a woman get a glass of wine at 4pm on her honeymoon? I had to seek out the one bar that was serving alcohol but of course, you had to stay in that area with your drink.
There is a bar on the grounds which opens from 9pm-11pm (strangest opening hours ever?) but we never checked it out as it permits smoking inside and I am not trying to go to bed smelling like an ashtray.
A boat tour was included with our reservation which I was initially excited about. It promised to "sail us between the islands" and "explore the Okinawa Bay". Upon entering the boat, we were handed safety instructions and were not spoken to again for the remainder of the boat ride. The ride itself was 30 mins into the Bay and 30 minutes back again - possibly the dullest boat ride of my life. For $500 US dollars, I at least expected some level of commentary to point out history, sites, wildlife, etc.
The restaurants on the resort are okay but exorbitantly expensive. We ditched our reservation for the french restaurant on the last night and had a great meal at a local restaurant just a few miles away for a fraction of the cost.
There was a few pluses though - while it specifies tattoos should be covered, I didn't cover mine throughout my stay and nobody asked me to cover up - a small silver lining I guess.
The sunset sax player by the pool was a nice touch and became our nightly routine.
The staff were extremely helpful and kind, especially the morning breakfast waiters and waitresses.

I stayed at The Busena Terrace for 3 days. It is a beautiful, polished resort, which spares no expense to make sure your money and time are well-invested. Staff is very friendly, doing right to ensure you experience the luxury and attentiveness of Japanese hospitality and professionalism. You are greeted with a glass of juice upon your arrival, and given thorough explanation to the properties amenities and restaurants, before being set loose to your own shenanigans.
I'm not entirely sure if it was off-season, but our stay was from May 30-June 2nd and it was completely empty aside from a few pockets of people here and there. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but was shocked given how massive the resort is to accommodate tourists, there were barely any there.
Some key notes:
• The beaches are very well-kept. Water is crystal clear blue, coral is everywhere. You're forbidden to swim outside the designated area due to jellyfish. Many water activities such as jet pack, wave runner, water bike, etc. They also offer snorkeling and scuba diving - please be aware that spots book up fast, so buy days ahead of time. The pools were also impeccable in cleanliness, but closed quite early (5:30 PM).
• Buffet is delicious! Very clean, serves both modern and traditional options. Food isn't mediocre as what you'd expect from a typical one. I personally only got to sample the breakfast, which was incredible. Fresh juices, rolls, delicious omelettes, etc. Several restaurants to explore that range in cuisine from Italian to Japanese, Chinese, BBQ. Reservations are required except for the buffet.
• Housekeeping is thorough; fresh towels and sheets changed every day at 10 AM. Rooms are very attractive and kept up to standards. No issues like mold, insects, etc.
• Gift shops everywhere! One catered to foods and beverages, another housed Okinawan trinkets from beautiful lacquer bowls and cups, hand-crafted glass jewelry, t-shirts, etc. There are a few little shops outside the property such as a tiny convenience store if you wanna stock up on booze and salt cookies. It also offers a place to make your own souvenir out of clay. If you're an early-riser, a farmer's market opens up for a couple of hours every morning at 7 AM - 9 AM; a couple of little stands that serve traditional Okinawan snacks and tropical fruit.
Overall a delightful experience and one I wish I could have enjoyed longer than 3 days! The thunderstorms are also exhilarating. Having returned home just a few days ago, Okinawa and Busena were some of the highlights of our 18 day journey through Japan. I highly recommend.

My husband and I stayed at the Terrace Club in a ocean view room 12-15 APR 2019. The room was incredibly luxurious; I especially loved the chaise lounge on the terrace and the exposed bathtub. Staying at the Terrace Club comes with several benefits, breakfast is included, cocktail hour every night, tea time in the afternoon, etc — dinner is not included, however.
A few things to note — you really must make reservations for dinner every night. The most popular dinner places are the Chinese restaurant and the Main Dining option.
If you stay at the Terrace Club, you have access to the bio pool, sauna, and the cocktail hour right there, as well as the Thelasso spa experiences. To get the main hotel, the hotel concierge will take you on a golf cart or other car, or it’s also a pretty short walk. There is also a spa at the main hotel — the masseuses do not really speak English but I highly recommend getting a massage!
It rained on and off and was a bit too cold to swim, but the sunrises were beautiful and the ambience was perfect and incredibly romantic. My husband and I especially enjoyed the cocktail hour and the biopool.
Do be prepared — there are many people there who want to serve you; for us Americans it was incredibly awkward but we just embraced it and tried to enjoy. Also, we rented a car because we have SOFA licenses, but I imagine it would be somewhat difficult to get to the hotel without one. It’s an hour drive on a toll road just to get here.
Overall, I definitely recommend the experience. We look forward to coming back again!

We came as part of a honeymoon trip visiting and it's paradise. It’s off season so quieter and not all facilities are open but enough is to make our stay wonderful. The room was big and clean. The breakfast buffet at La Tida is really excellent with pancakes, French toast, Goya juice, purple yam bread and purple yam Brulee that is so nice as well as a large selection of breakfast foods.
The beach is clean and the water a beautifully clear turquoise. The staff are all so polite, friendly and helpful and speak good English.
There is a handy bus stop just outside for further adventures. The Italian restaurant Chula-la was superb and we enjoyed an original awamori cocktail with gyoza, goya chips and brown sugar peanuts at Ku-su bar Dachibin. The “fun pub” Sugar Cane was lovely for sitting outside and smoking with a cocktail or whiskey.
It would have been nice if the veranda bar or refreshing square had been open but we will try and return when the sea bed walk is open in summer.

Haha, we arrived to stay here in a typhoon. My wife and I looked out our windows into driving rain and wind and every day of our stay we had intermittent showers and strong wind. My brother and sister in-law took us here for a family holiday and we came from Australia and they are Japanese. You can't pick your weather when you book in advance. The travellers’ photos on Tripadvisor are just a dream. Our room was located on the 9th Floor and had great views of the sea and the beach and the hotel. The best bed of our stay in Japan, so far, very comfortable, nice pillows and doona. The pyjamas are also quite comfortable. Our first night revealed noisy neighbours who banged their doors and spoke all night. My brother asked for us to be moved to a quieter room and we were moved to the other end of the hotel on the 8th floor. This is a bigger room and looks straight down on the large swimming pool and has a western aspect. It has a similar bed layout, but now has a hallway and is a bit larger. There are some surprises in the room, like a wardrobe that is restricted inside by a wall, and is virtually useless to hang clothes in. It has an alcove in the room that holds a large case, but nothing else and restricts the use f the balcony. The floor seems like it isn't stuck down and seems to move when you walk on it, it feels strange under bare feet. There is no full length mirror in the room. There is no brown sugar in the room, unusual as Okinawa is famous for it and it is a worldwide trend to reduce white sugar consumption, for health reasons. We were lucky enough to encounter some sun on our third day. The breakfast buffet is a bonus, with an extensive array of western and Asian foods on offer. Two venues are available, though the western breakfast is my choice. My wife, used the Yoga room, but was told she would have to leave 20 minutes before a Pilate Beginners Class commenced. She and others left the room and she had a sauna, instead. Oddly enough, no-one attended the class. Service in the breakfast room is spasmodic, some staff are really focussed and some wander around unsure of their job. Some staff collect plates and some fill empty coffee and tea cups, but it seems they are not watching efficiently. On arrival at our new room, we noticed the supposedly clean room had a bin full of rubbish in the bathroom. Attention to detail is somewhat lacking. The bathroom has a good supply of toiletries and the bath towels are fluffy and clean. Shower water is hot all day and night. We really enjoyed our stay despite the weather. The internet connections are patchy around early afternoon. The shops in the hotel have a nice array of goods and most are high quality items, especially the clothes. This hotel is highly recommended for extended stays.

On the road we saw the sign for this beach, the same sign you find everywhere in Okinawa to indicate a beach. At the entrace we said we were going to the beach asking if the entrance was free. The guy at the gate said us it was free and gave us instructions for parking. Once on the beach, when we had already taken off our shoes and clothes and when we had already positioned our beach towels, a man came to us asking if we wanted to swim. We really didn't get the meaning of such an incomprehensible question and we answered that it was possible we would want to swim. At that moment he started blathering we couldn't stay there cause it was a private beach and if we wanted to swim we have to pay 1000¥ per person. I've never heard something like that, I don't think you can prohibit someone to swim. I don't think the ocean can be private but, anyway, the very thing I don't understand is why they didn't say that the very first time we asked upon our arrival!!

As a couple, we spent 4 days in this hotel. It's a huge property with a lot of facilities - lots of shops, 2 pools (not infinity), public bath, gym, water sports rental, awesome beach. The place is prettier than the pictures. Sunset is magnificent. The sea breeze in the balcony is just great.
Hotel service makes a lot of sense - if you skip breakfast, they are happy to serve you lunch buffet for free; shops close at 10 pm; message services until 1 am.
The only thing to pay attention is transfer - it will cost you around 15,000 yen from the airport to the hotel by taxi.
We took a package which includes dinner, which you can choose from 3 restaurants. Chinese food is so so. Didn't try the Italian one. Western buffet is ok. Coffee in the cake shop is the best! The French restaurant was always full so we didn't get the chance to enjoy it.
We also went to Terrace Club and used their huge Jacuzzi pool. 2000 Yen each person, thoroughly enjoyed.
Rooms are pretty much the same. A little dated but it's all the same in Okinawa. They have some cottage rooms with private pools. It's ridiculously expensive but you should try if it is within your budget.
