I would give 3 1/2 stars. Pros, the staff was absolutely wonderful. They were always extremely helpful and pleasant. All of the food I ordered off of the restaurant menu was delicious. My husband and I had the buffet one night, and let's just say we are not fans of a buffet. That's a personal preference. If you want good clean food, go to the restaurant and order off of the menu. It's probably the same price. Lunch at the beach bar off the menu was also delicious -- salads, burgers, grilled fish sandwich, tacos. FYI, ask for grilled if you don't want deep fried. Keep that in mind. Bartenders were amazing. The hotel is also very quiet, which is a plus. Adults and families. No spring break here. Cons. Room was a bit outdated. Only one bathroom for a one bedroom condo. Room keys had to be corrected every day. Ocean view was great, but I would recommend the ground floor. We were on the third floor, and it was a bit of a pain whenever you needed water or use the bathroom. We were in Building 3. Apparently, there was a storm somewhere out there, and even though the beach was cleaned every single morning, meticulously, and after ten minutes, because of the current, garbage and tons of sea grass was being washed up on the shore only in front of Buildings 3 & 4 for the first six days we were there. The last two days, no garbage. That was a bit of a bummer. The beach in front of Buildings 1 and 2 were fine. Just some sea grass. Not the hotel's fault, just the side of the island. Also, the ocean was very rocky in front of Buildings 3 and 4. 1 & 2, not so much, but I do recommend water shoes. They do have activities, but when we were there, there was no kayaking or paddle boarding because of the waves. No umbrellas in front of Buildings 3 & 4. Only shade was from the palm trees and the building. Last, not a walking/running beach, which was a bummer for me. Very slanted. We went to Seven Mile Beach one day, and the sand was white, and the water was turquoise. Not on the east end. I hope this helps.

Located in the quiet but picturesque East End of Grand Cayman on its own beautiful white sand beach, Wyndham Reef Resort is a great place to kick back. Yes, it has events if you like that kind of thing (from fish-feeding to beach volleyball to bingo to aquarobics), but you can easily avoid all that stuff too. We stayed at the quieter (north) end of the resort, away from the pools and the Beach Bar (which can get noisy, especially when there is live music), and it was really quiet and peaceful. We chose the third floor (there is an elevator) to avoid scraping chairs and midnight stomping, but I think we needn't have worried (the rooms seem pretty well sound-proofed). Our room was spacious and well-appointed, with a full kitchen and a balcony overlooking the beach. I appreciated that the toilet flushed quietly and the doors don't creak, and that the lighting was good and bright. Air-conditioning worked fine, although we hardly needed it in January: it was a comfortable pleasant temperature. Room cleaning was every 3 days (unless you ask for more), so unnecessary washing is avoided, and you book a beach towel out at the start of your stay, so no unnecessary washing of clean towels either. Shampoo and shower gel was in refillable containers. Little things. There is recycling, although it's hidden away behind the tennis courts and not otherwise mentioned. Tides Restaurant, Beach Bar and Coffee Shop are all fine, if a bit pricey (it IS still Cayman, after all!) with a surprising number of vegetarian and vegan dishes on offer too. But there is also Fosters supermarket just across the road, so you can cook in if you want a change and some cheaper prices. The beach is lovely, although the ocean can be a bit rough when it is windy (which seems to be often), and there is a reef and seaweed to negotiate. You can walk a long way on the beach in both directions. Staff were pleasant and helpful in the main. Check in and check out was painless. Wifi was fine (in the room, in the common areas, even on the beach). There's a small gym, a spa, basketball and tennis courts, laundry facilities, ample parking. everything you might need, really. No complaints.
