Spent 12 nights here which was total bliss. Great staff, very helpful and always smiling. Castle restaurant is a must for a ‘fine dining’ experience with a top cocktail bar for pre dinner drinks. 10/10 to Gus and Wyndel for running a great team!!

We stayed here for 10 days. Wonderful holiday and experience. Our king, sea view room was perfect. Molton Brown toiletries was a lovely touch. The hotel facilities are top notch, fresh towels available for the pools daily. Excellent dining facilities, with fine dining at the Castle View restaurant. Bottled water always available, as well as other soft drinks, also local beer and a little snack fridge. Fantastic entertainment crew, friendly, high energy and kept us entertained. The steel pan show was amazing, as was the Oistins experience. Lovely staff, made amazing cocktails and on the whole, nothing was too much trouble. A few excursions laid on by the hotel which we took up, as well as booking some of our own. Being on the Eastern side of the island, its good to arrange a few trips out to see the island. Met some lovely people and definitely come back and stay again. Thank you for an amazing holiday 😄

First class hotel excellent friendly helpful staff, wonderful plentiful food and wine plus great rooms. You can tell them to reduce the sound of the music around the pool and they do. Cooling winds off the sea a great advantage as it's always hot.

Castle View Restaurant was definitely a highlight, offering mouthwatering dishes and expertly crafted cocktails. A must-try during your stay! One of the best features of the resort was the abundance of convenient self-service options. Whether you wanted water bottles, sandwiches, fresh fruit, empanadas, or sweets, there was always something readily available. It made the experience even more enjoyable and stress-free. The resort’s location was another big plus for us. While it’s not right downtown, it’s just an easy ride away. Its secluded setting made our stay feel peaceful and relaxing — a true escape from the hustle and bustle. Overall, I highly recommend Wyndham Grand Barbados for a relaxing and delightful getaway!

Housekeeping was terrible, we waited 2 days for toilet paper . Never had clean drinking glasses . Toilet was never cleaned . Floors were filthy in our room and throughout the hotel . No gift shop . Food was decent. Pools were nice . Couldn’t swim in the ocean ....

This is probably one of the worst places we have stayed, it has some good points but for the most part it sucks. The rooms are dirty, we actually had to use a towel to clean the floors so that our feet,t didn’t stick to it. The house keeping service...

This is probably one of the worst places we have stayed, it has some good points but for the most part it sucks. The rooms are dirty, we actually had to use a towel to clean the floors so that our feet,t didn’t stick to it. The house keeping service is awful, no fresh towels no toilet paper whats up with that. Drinks are inconsistent most are awful. Food at the buffet is nasty unless you want salads then they are good, dinner at the buffet run away as fast as you can, dog food looks better. The Castle view restaurant is pretty good not great but decent, the Sam Lords grill is a good option if you want to eat local dishes.All in all this place is not worth the money unless you’re okay with mediocre service and food, I personally would stay somewhere else. Definitely will not return to this place. This place is a 3 star at best!

Was really looking forward to this hotel for my birthday but very disappointed. Dirty room and unhelpful staff. No room service for 4 days and had to get extra toilet rolls from pool toilets. No hairdryer or iron. Lock on door broken so couldn’t lock from inside. Buffet restaurant not very good lukewarm food. Grill bar chairs were very dirty and staff too busy chatting rather than serve you. Castle bar was lovely but you had to book early as everyone wanted to go there. Pool area dirty. To get to beach you had to go down quite steep steps, no toilets or drink facilities, lots of seaweed on sand which you had to walk over to get into sea, although not advised to swim as very strong currents, ok to paddle. Bar staff friendly and helpful always wanting you to try new cocktails! Reception staff not helpful at all.

We stayed at Wyndham for a few nights during what I assume was a conference? This seemed to lead to some challenges with housekeeping cleaning our rooms daily, but overall and enjoyable stay. Alysa from front desk along with a few others suggested me to write a review about my experience. There was and easy QR code to scan for me to do this, though the Wi-Fi gave us a bit of trouble to access it, but this is likely due to the heavy traffic from the conference. My coffee maker was missing and I had to ask repeatedly for one to brought up. The restaurant for Castle View you had to book for dinner, but brunch was walk-in. The restaurants food was edible and drinks were tasty. The entertainment was lively and the team seemed to love what they do. some friendly faces that I recall were Jaleesa from Castle view who understood what customer service is completely, Mario, who worked at the bar (drinks are simply amazing) and Kadeem and Candice at the concierge desk helped answer some questions and booked a couple things for us. This was my first visit to any Carribbean country and we had the tour desk book tours for us to see and meet the people on the island.

Beautiful location (but miles from anywhere), stunning coastline. The check in was a lengthy and disjointed experience. Many people milling around the area and being dealt with apparently at random. Not helped by a large number of airline crew checking in. We were taken to our room and left with no information and no information in the room either. When we queried the lack of information we were told it was published on the television. We subsequently checked this and it was out of date. The room was contemporary, the bathroom being visible from the sleeping area was not to our taste. The toilet was small and smelly with no hand basin. On two occasions our room was not serviced. When the bedding was changed, the used linen was left on the floor. On several occasions the towels were not replaced, we had to phone Housekeeping. On two occasions there was no hot water. The furniture on the balcony was sparse and uncomfortable. Our used cups, saucers and spoons were taken but not replaced. The TV was unwatchable due to pixelisation. There was rubbish in the lifts which remained there throughout our stay. Sam Lords Grill was OK with a good selection of Barbadian food but the service was extremely slow. On one occasion three groups left as they were tired of waiting possibly due to airline crew joining the tables together and monopolising the staff. At breakfast in the Mediterranean Market the buffet was mediocre at best, all the food was cold and of a poor quality. The egg stations were OK but the queues weren’t. The ambiance was more like a factory canteen. Eating on the patio was nice. The Castle View Restaurant was better for breakfast, but a lengthy process. In the evening the Castle View was quite good. One observation – how can the catch of the day be Salmon in Barbados? On the evening of the Super bowl, no information was provided and all the restaurants were closed apart from Castle View which had to be pre-booked. Guests were wandering around wondering where to eat not realising food was available in the car park several hundred yards away. At breakfast the following morning one elderly lady was heard to say she went to bed without dinner. Similarly, the restaurants were closed on Oistins Extraviganza night with no information given. The beach was a long walk and covered with seaweed. There were no toilet or drink facilities. There is no convenience shop on the property which meant we could not replace our expensive high factor sunblock when it was removed from our cabana side table. We requested a late check out the evening before and understood it would be OK. When we went to have our key bracelets extended the following morning, we were told it had not been approved and further authorisation was needed. Extended checkout for 2 hours was 75 USD. Most of the staff were extremely pleasant once we engaged with them. Catching their eye was the problem. The bartender in the Burnt Rum Cask was great and really knew his rums.

Not cleaned to a high standard when cleaned. A lot of guests were English, but no breakfast tea to be found in the restaurant or the rooms. No hot water for 2 days. Lucy's Bar - decor a bit depressing. Could be cheered up a bit. Bar staff lovely. Tuesday night dinner around the pool, flimsy paper plates and mismatched plastic cutlery - not great! Night Entertainment - hit and miss Activities advertise for during the day - never happened. Lantern Pool Bar, needs fixing up and modernising . Drinks were good. Buffet restaurant - always something to eat, but food not hot enough. Communal washrooms - not great. Generally staff were pleasant, but also seem frustrated. This would be a great hotel, with movements!!!

Gets a bit monotonous after one week, as it would if you were back home and ate at the same restaurant for a week! A la carte restaurant : 10/10. Simply Awesome all around Entertainment : It’s resort entertainment so one size fits all. I wasn’t expecting Rihanna to perform Beach: we are on the Atlantic side so cannot swim off of this beach. Beach is sandy and well shaded so nice place to sit out and enjoy the sounds of the waves. Overall this has been a great experience. I am totally baffled by previous posts describing the hotel as filthy , staff as rude etc (These were posted the week we are here) I don’t know why one would spend their holiday time making lists of all the negative things they can complain about. Certainly the dirtiest hotel we have ever visited. The floors around the pool, in the rooms and on the balconies were filthy. Getting to our room was a feat of memory as it is a very large complex with very few signs. After our room had been serviced the floors were wet and like a scating rink so I used a bath mat to dry them. When I had finished, the underside of the mat had to be seen to be believed - it was nearly black. The corridors were littered with flakes of paint and marked with white footprints from workmen. There seems to be a lack of management as most of the staff had a "couldn't care less" attitude with a few notable exceptions. I asked three times to speak with the Manager and the best I got was the evening Duty Manager who did listen to our issues but only responded with a Late check out for us.

WYNDHAM GRAND BARBADOS. Sam Lords Castle resort We spent 2 nights here before starting our Caribbean cruise. Room 5001 is in the block 5 building on the ground floor. It's a very large room, about 650sq. ft, with a king sized bed, in-room safe, iron and ironing board, Nespresso coffee machine and a reasonable amount of storage space. It has a bath as well as a walk-in, waterfall shower. The shower is excellent and the tiled floor isn't slippery even when wet. There is excellent lighting in the bathroom, although remembering which switch controls each light is more complex. There's even a magnifying mirror, with a light, beside one of the sinks which is great for shaving, (or doing make-up, I presume). The king-size bed was very comfortable and we slept well. The bedside lights are small, focused LED lights which allows 1 person to read without disturbing the other. There's also a seating area through the patio doors, which has a table and 2 chairs overlooking the pool area and the sea Check-in seemed a bit slow in comparison to some European hotels in which we've stayed, but there was a good seating area and a very refreshing glass of bubbles to alleviate the wait. On check-in, you’re given a wrist strap which identifies you as a guest. Don't tighten this, because it's impossible to expand it again. Mine was too loose and I overtightened it and was unable to loosen it again. MEDITERRANEAN RESTAURANT On our first night, having spent 18 hours travelling, we decided to eat here because we were too tired to eat very much. There was a wide range of buffet items, including some good Sushi, as well as Arabic food, a great pasta station, pizzas, salads and desserts. We didn't eat a lot of food, but what we did eat was tasty, and the local beer was excellent. The staff worked hard, clearing plates and refilling glasses. We came here for breakfast on the following morning. There was a wide range of the usual items found in a typical breakfast buffet with plenty of options available. The precooked scrambled eggs were slow to be replenished when they ran out and there was a shortage of glasses at the juices station. These minor issues were rectified eventually. The freshly made, Nespresso coffee was excellent quality and hot!! Due to a problem with food preparation in Sam Lord's grill we came here again for dinner. There was a range of salads, Sushi and hot food, but many of these dishes lacked distinctive flavouring. My wife said that her food was very bland. I tried the pasta station which offered a range of pasta shapes with a wide variety of sauces and additional options. This was excellent food, tasty and served piping hot. However, on this occasion, the drinks and plate clearing service was very slow. I went to the bar to get wine refills and lifted a bottle of sparkling water to top up our glasses. The evening meal options could be improved if they had a grill station beside the pasta station. There's enough space and they could offer steaks, chicken, burgers, etc. as well as fries. I reckon that it would be a very popular option. SAM LORD'S GRILL We decided to have a small lunch here since it was convenient and the food choices looked interesting. The bartender made me a special rum cocktail, typical of Barbados, which was very good. I had a fish burger with 4 large, parmesan truffle fries which was ample. My wife had the nachos with soused shrimp which was delicious. An excellent choice - so good we intended returning for dinner. Unfortunately, when we arrived about 8pm, there was a problem with food preparation so we couldn't dine here. This was disappointing, because the menu looked very tempting. Instead we went to the Mediterranean restaurant buffet, again! BURNT CASK rum bar I came in here for a quiet, after dinner drink, because Lucy's Lounge was very noisy, due to the great band playing there. They have a good range of quality rums, ideal for sipping, similar to a good cognac. The very knowledgeable barman suggested I try the Mount Gay Black Barrel which was an excellent suggestion. STAFF All the staff we met were friendly, helpful and keen to please. A very important asset for any hospitality business. The only exception to this was in the Mediterranean restaurant on our second evening when the serving staff seemed disinterested. CASTLE VIEW RESTAURANT The menu here offers a range of very interesting dishes, but if you want to dine here book in advance. We wanted a table for dinner on our only evening in the resort, but they were booked up 2 days in advance, so we missed this opportunity. OVERALL SUMMARY I would have awarded 5 stars, but the Mediterranean restaurant is a disappointment in terms of overall food quality and service. That's a shame, because so many other things are top notch. The hotel complex is orientated to take advantage of the prevailing breeze which helps keep things cool and, as already mentioned, the rooms are excellent. For this reason, I'm only awarding 4 stars. However, if the Mediterranean restaurant is improved, I'd have no hesitation in awarding 5 stars.

I had concerns considering I’d read the reviews before coming but decided to overlook this as the pros looked to outweigh the cons. I would advise anyone reading the reviews to take them seriously. What to expect: -Unhelpful uninterested staff from the moment you check in despite the ratio of staff to guests is plenty. -You will wait until 4pm even if the hotel is only at 40% occupancy when you check in. -we were not given direction about any of the facilities or told any information about the hotel and restaurants upon check in. -some staff are better than others but you’ll have to repeat yourself 5 times for what you wanted or try and catch staff attention even if they’ve watched you for 10 mins which is one of the biggest let downs. A few times 4-5 staff were stood behind the bar doing nothing ignoring guests waiting to order. Another example, I needed a plaster and was simply looked at blankly and told the nurse went home. -this hotel is predominately used by airlines for crew rotation so at times is not relaxing (nothing against airline crew just it does not make for a relaxing holiday vibe). -the hotel has no atmosphere what so ever and at times is eerie. -considering it was opened 18 months ago the hotel is looking tired already and things are not being maintained well. -the hotel is not cleaned properly anywhere and simple things such as soap dispensers in the toilets are not topped up. Previous nights room service is left visible in service areas until the next night on your walks to the lifts. -the swim up pool bar is not in operation which is a shame because this would help with the hotel atmosphere. -there’s a big entertainment team but they’re not really trying to entertain just walk amongst themselves joking around during the day. At night, the organised entertainment is better but not well attended. -it’ll take you forever to get drinks at any of the bars. -the main restaurant food does the job however after 5 days you might be sick of the repetitiveness of it. -the castle restaurant you have to book and the food is ok. For brunch you don’t need to book and it is a far more pleasurable experience for breakfast (don’t be mistaken this is 9am-11:45am not actually ‘brunch’ time as described. -the gym is adequate however, missing simple things such as ropes for the cable machine. -The pools are not maintained properly and often there is gunge in the corners. -location wise there are shuttles but if this is your only experience of Barbados I would recommend getting a car. -our room was not serviced several days, we had to ask several times. By which, you will get different answers depending who you ask. - towels round the pool station not topped up regularly so when they run out you’re going to have to painfully ask or wait. - Tv in room has no ability for you to connect to it so you are stuck with 10 channels which is very outdated. Especially if you’re looking to have a quiet movie night in. Positives -The rooms are decent with comfortable bed - I would recommend upgrading if you decide to stay. -there is a fridge in the room which is maintained when they decide they want to service the room. -Brandon was absolutely brilliant (one of the bar managers). He really did go above and beyond to provide great service, resolve issues we were having. He needs to be considered for overall management of the hotel or someone should snap him up! Due to the Heathrow fire we were forced to extend for 4 more days. This was the most painful experience and was not resolved until 4pm despite trying to resolve from 9am and being told we would be absolutely fine by management. Overall: I think 3 days is more than long enough in this hotel if you’re looking for a long weekend onwards travelling otherwise, I would not recommend what so ever. For £520+ a night it is not worth it and a complete let down to the Wyndham group. This is not a 5* hotel and does not earn its price tag. Bad value, mediocre and at times frustrating experience.

This is a beautiful resort with great views and big stunning rooms. The beach is secluded and pretty and the area feels very safe. Unfortunately the staff are in need of training. This was our main issue! • On check in the staff were chattering between themselves and it felt a bit like watching school girls conversing. •The lady who booked the tours from the hotel was great. As were the speciality staff restaurant servers. •The housekeeping was diabolical- we had to ask for a bin twice. On the first day they removed the coffee cups we had used and never replaced them even though we asked. They didn’t restock any of the tea or coffee items in the room either. The room wasn’t particularly clean. Overall the vast majority of staff made you feel like you were an inconvenience to them and they were miserable and didn’t know how to perform their jobs. The food at the main buffet was boring and no labelling or changes made daily. The food at the lantern bar and speciality restaurants was much better. The complex needed a decent clean. We would see towels still at the pool at 9am that had been there from the day before and glasses and plates that would be in hallways at breakfast would still be there in the evening. It is a long way to Bridgetown (45-60 minute taxi ride) and nothing around the resort to do, just to be aware. We went with friends and all of us agreed we would not return and the service we received felt more like 3* - definitely not 5!

Wish we could swim in the beach but it was beautiful to lay by the beach! So much potential for hosting great entertainment and activities! Beautiful settings for taking pictures!
