Wow. As a Diamond member, loved the perks this hotel offered (spa, gym, upgrade, breakfast, and more). Our room view was amazing, it’s 10/10 worth the castle view. The rooms are European sized, so all you US folks don’t be surprised, it’s efficient and cozy. If you’re in your room...

The Court for lunch is 100/10, the staff, the food, the piano is worth the stop.
We were so pleased by our visit. Can’t wait to come back.

I’m not going to go into too much detail but we were treated exactly as expected for a quality hotel. We slept exactly how you expect to sleep in a quality hotel with super comfy beds, pillows and rooms. Breakfast was an absolute delight. The staff were incredibly friendly and not over the top. The hotel itself seems to have been recently renovated as everywhere you looked it was immaculate.
I would comeback here in a heartbeat. Perfect hotel. Perfect location.

Superb hotel with exceptional service. The concierge and reception team are fantastic.
Ria Anne at the personal concierge desk deserves particular mention for attending to our needs in such a welcoming way, making you feel valued and going out of her way to look after us.

Visited the Caledonian for a birthday afternoon tea.
The surroundings are fabulous, a combination of classical, trendy and art deco. Service was very good.
The afternoon tea itself was delicious, but for my personal taste the ratio of sandwiches/scones/cakes seemed a bit off. There were six varieties of savouries, which arrived before the sweet tray (every afternoon tea I’ve had has come with the sandwiches and cakes at the same time). The sandwich fillings weren’t your standard salmon & cream cheese, cucumber etc, much more exotic. The scones were out of this world! It was disappointing that they were bite-sized as I’d have liked larger scones and less of the sweet pastries.
And the cakes again, all very intricate and exotically flavoured. The pastry chef is obviously incredibly talented.
The menu as a whole I found a bit too rich, as by the time the sandwiches and scones were eaten, neither of us could manage more than one of the sweets so they were boxed up to take home with us.
The white chocolate chip scones with caramel curd were the hands down winner for me!

My 1st stay & was greeted very warmly by the staff, both on reception and the concierge. The room was beautiful, however, there was no mirror next to an electric point to use the hairdryer. The room in the evening was very cold an the fan was blowing out cold air. It was frosty that night! I was given an upgrade room with a lovely large room, TV, large bathroom and a walk in wardrobe. The robes provided though would only fit a size 8 person! No good for either myself or my partner. We did get bottled water provided. We used the pool in the spa which was lovely, and had a steam room & sauna. We had booked an evening meal. I didn't feel like the service we had was worth what was charged for on the bill! My meal was not good - overcooked chicken and the breadcrumbs on the outside were burnt. We were never asked during the meal if everything was ok, that didn't come until the lady came to collect the plates - I asked if I could just give her some feedback but after that, she never came near our table. We weren't offered a desert menu and it took us over 20 mins to get someone to bring us the bill. When I went to the ladies, there were 4 members of staff at the entrance to the restaurant on their mobile phones! The bar service however, was spot on, and the lady was very attentive and chatty. We went to breakfast the next morning, and the food was perfect, and the staff couldn't do enough for you. I wish I could say my stay was fantastic, but on this occasion I didn't feel like it was. Very disappointed

The only 5 star aspect of this hotel is the great location with a view of the castle. The hotel is under renovation, so our expectations were not as high for this former Waldorf Astoria. The heating doesn’t work in some rooms, including ours. When we checked in, we noticed several space heaters behind the reception desk and realized why after we arrived to our room, which was freezing. We were brought one of these portable heaters, but the room was too large for it to have any effect. In addition, the bathroom had peeling paint and cracked tile. I will give compliments to the concierge staff who provided fantastic recommendations for dinner and whiskey bars. Unfortunately, overall we wouldn’t recommend this hotel.
