Management and staff are outstanding here and truly makes a difference. Juan Diego Golobio always insures you will have great restaurant and dining experiences because he is a great host and has a true commitment to excellence. The wait/server personnel are all great and well trained but Bernice at the Beach Club and Leo at the Mercado really stand out. Even Dickson at the transportation desk and Eric at the front desk will delight you with their top-notch service and professionalism. I hated leaving this place and can't wait to get back. Bernard J

We reserved an ocean view room which was fantastic. The room was spacious and the bathroom was great with a separated toilet. The shower had dual showerheads but it had no barrier between it and the rest of the bathroom which made for an interesting experience! Staff in the resort were very friendly and accommodating and went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. We happened to be there during a "shoulder period" between some larger groups so the resort overall didn't feel crowded. The spa was great but beware that the pool and sauna +steam room are outdoors. When we went it was very hot so we made less use of the facilities. Beach access is easy and the fine dining restaurant was good. Most of all, the breakfast buffet is outstanding!

Upon arrival we were a little concerned : greeted with the pulsing sound of DJ and club music when we were checking in at the registration desk. We struggled to even hear what the clerk was saying. We were celebrating our Anniversary and when the clerk asked we told her, she said “we’ll do something special for you”. However, nothing was ever done. The hotel we previously stayed in for our birthdays did something special each day so this was a missed opportunity in our opinion. Once we saw our room and the views, we had splurged for the beach view suite with plunge pool things were looking up. The first night it was very noisy as loud music and sounds ( not sure from where?) when I was looking forward to hearing the sounds of nature. Luckily it was quieter the remainder of our 4 nights. The pool on our balcony was a little disappointing as the jets didn’t work and the water didn’t warm up. The adults only pool was incredible, never had many people in it and plenty of lounge chairs and umbrellas. Pool side service although very friendly, took a little longer than I would expect for drink service same for at the beach. The beach access was fantastic, plenty of lounge chairs and umbrellas, had to be patient as at times would take quite awhile to get our drink orders and bills. The cocktails were great however and you can’t beat the views. We dined at the beach side restaurant and Cocina de Mercado and were very satisfied with the food quality, taste and service. Special thanks to the staff at Cocina; hostess Maria, servers Javier , Vladimir& José to name a few, who always took good care of us and made us feel welcome! Never long to wait for a golf cart ride to the beach, or a short walk. Room service food was great. Beautifully maintained grounds and hotel. Would have appreciated somewhere for grab and go snacks, coffee, etc. Overall a wonderful experience!

We spent 8 amazing nights at the W. We did the all inclusive and it was well worth it. The food was really good. We did the fancier dinner at Latitude twice. Our room was nice and spacious. We loved the breakfast buffet every morning. The adults only pool was nice and you didn’t have to fight for chairs with umbrellas. The staff here is phenomenal. They go way beyond any other Bonvoy property we have ever stayed. Carlos, Joseph, the other Carlos, (machete ) Victor, just to name a few of the amazing staff there. They made our stay at the W even better. This is a gem of a property!! We will come back one day soon.

I had a wonderful experience at the W Reserve with my husband for a 3 day trip in February. We had an ocean view suite with a plunge pool and it is one of the nicest rooms I have ever stayed in. The hotel facilities were excellent. The gym is spacious and very functional. We loved the beach club. The friendly staff set up chairs and umbrellas for us (wind permitting) everyday. We were able to get drinks brought to our beach chairs and they were delightful. The beach itself was wonderful. Blue water, nice waves, warm. It was one of my favorite beaches to play in. The staff were all so warm and friendly. Everyone asked our name and introduced themselves to us. Although we were only there three days, people remembered us, said hello and remembered the drinks we liked. Breakfasts were excellent. We loved the buffet and the setting was stunning. We also loved the lunch food and cocktails at the Wet bar. It was really nice to have an adults only pool. A highlight was having room service dinner for our last night. The food was brought quickly and on temperature. The food and drinks are on the pricey side and we did the upgrade to an all inclusive package ($175/person/day) and it was so worth it. The only downside was we did not love the dinner food at Cucina Mercado and Lat 10. Everything was fine. Service was also overly slow (although warm) at those restaurants. Because we had the package, we did not mind this as much.

We had a wonderful stay at the W. Beautiful views surrounded the resort, the wildlife was incredible and easy to spot on the resort in their natural habitat. The room was beautiful and the staff were kind, helpful and fun. We loved the activities available on the resort including coffee tasting, yoga on the beach and dancing lessons. We enjoyed the walk to the beach every day but golf cart rides from the lobby to the beach were easy and quick to catch as well. The staff truly made it a welcoming and comfortable stay - can’t say enough about how friendly and personable they are. The beautiful architecture was so interesting and the views from the pools were incredible. We’d stay there again in a heartbeat.

This resort is beautiful and the staff is great. The staff consistently introduces themselves and is very friendly and interested. We were particularly impressed with Eric at the front desk, Tatiana (our favorite mixologist) at the living room bar, Kevin at the Zona Azul bar/restaurant and especially Morgan who seems to be everywhere all the time. Morgan leads the exercise, yoga, biking, hiking and any other activity you can think of. He is fun, energetic, friendly, knowledgeable and goes out of his way to make sure you are having fun! This facility is gorgeous and our room (Tower 1, 5th floor) was amazing. The view of the ocean and surrounding coastline from our bed and balcony was to die for. The breakfast buffet was great (but very expensive if not included in your package). The pools and beach are very nice but umbrellas weren’t available when we were there due windy conditions. The gym at the W is comprehensive, large and well maintained. We biked (included) and hiked a bunch of the trails on the vast property and made it to some incredible vistas. We also walked around the neighboring Westin and were glad we were at the W. If you want to play pickleball, golf or tennis, you can use the facilities at the Westin. We enjoyed our beach walks to Brasilito (about 1.3 miles) and it’s easy to do some off property good dining there. Marriott has their act together in a big way at this property and we loved our time there.

Stayed at the W Costa Rica for 5 nights in January as a winter getaway as a couple, from check in to checkout, excellent hotel all around. What stood out the most was the service, all the staff worked hard to know our names and even had our drink orders memorized at the breakfast by the end of the week. We stayed in the treehouse room, which is separate from the majority of the other rooms, which was a nice private area but a short walk to the pool/restaurants. Room was a great place to come back to from long days of excursions and had everything we needed. There are two pools- the main adult only pool outside the lobby, and the family friendly pool down by the beach. Both great facilities, depending what kind of experience you are looking for each has their own pros/cons, but we enjoyed both. There is an onsite travel booking company- we opted to use an external service for our excursions and airport transfers (ConchalFun- highly recommend this travel service!), but from others at the resort there were many options to get out and see the beautiful country with great experiences if you did not plan ahead. Overall- great experience and enjoyed our getaway, would recommend the hotel!

W Costa Rica is our new favorite place on earth. Already planning to go back again next year. Adults only pool is gorgeous. Short walk to the beach, and it's the most incredible beach ever. One resource that is great: "Finding Mangos" channel on YouTube has phenomenal videos on the W and on trips to Costa Rica with great details. There are some secret beaches nearby Playa Conchal. Also, you can walk down the beach -- through the crossover to Playa Brasilito -- and down to eat at Patagonia Del Mar. They are right by the beach, have a killer ambiance (look it up on yelp) and the Sushi was amazing.

Propertyis beautiful. Food prices were very high. We enjoyed the suite very much. Had to pay for upgrade for anniversay
Amazing views a bit overpriced in my opinion. Loved the 2 days we spent there and was a relaxing last leg of our costa rica anniversary trip for us. Would have liked a complimentary upgrade as we celebrated 30 year wedding anniversary while there

Three couples booked the all inclusive package through Costco. This is a beautiful resort, clean, wonderful friendly staff. We had an ocean view room in Tower 1. The room was spacious, comfortable bed, cool open shower with double rainfall heads, lovely amenities and clothes steamer. Really enjoyed the adults only pool, though the family pool was not very crowded. Resort was full but did not seem crowded at all. The only restaurant where reservations were needed (for 6) was latitude 10. Thai based menu, we had very nice service and enjoyed the chef seven course tasting menu. In our opinion the food we enjoyed most was the Sushi, ceviche at the restaurant near the beach. breakfast buffet daily was very good, but no toaster for breads, bagels, ha ha, which we missed. One night we did the Guanacaste tasting menu which was good, very interesting. Our waiter brought it family style to our table with a bit of everything on the menu. Highly suggest spending a bit extra for all inclusive, otherwise the food and drink prices are very expensive. Be aware there are some top shelf liquors NOT included in the package deal, but there is plenty to choose from. My friends and I had massages in the spa which were awesome. Spa also has sauna and hot and cold plunge pools and steam room. The fitness center is very adequate, While the ladies were in the spa, the men played golf on their beautiful course. Golf carts are always available for rides to beach or rooms, though everything is very walkable as well. Service is slow in the restaurants, but on the other hand no one rushes you out and you can enjoy leisurely lunches and dinners. Monkeys, iguanas, Coates, and other wildlife on property with beautiful foliage along the paths. Highly recommend this resort especially for couples. families with children would probably enjoy the neighboring Westin property.

Don't bother - totally meh & overpriced
Totally meh. It wants to be a nice hotel, but it isn't. Food & drinks are mediocre, but ridiculously expensive. Cocktails start at $22, entrees are $50+, etc. Fine dining prices for cafeteria quality food. The whole place just lacks pizazz...

This resort was an absolute perfect getaway. The property is beautiful nestled into the hill along Playa Conchal. Both swimming areas (Wet Zone - adults only, larger pool with hot tub - and Zona Azul, the smaller but still spacious pool right next to the beach) are lovely to enjoy. Our room was in Tower 1 (closest to the Living Room) with an ocean view over the trees between our building and the beach. It was spacious and comfortable and I loved our balcony. The wildlife sightings for not even leaving the resort were great - lots of birds, iguanas of all sizes, howler monkeys, deer, small lizards... The service could not be beat. Everyone was very friendly and accommodating. Salud to everyone who took care of us especially Carlos & Carlos in the Living Room, Kevin who seemed to be everywhere, Franden (Frank) at Zona Azul, and everyone at the Wet bar. We look forward to coming back!

The staff is exceptional from front desk, to the restaurants, to the pool bars and the housekeeping. Special shoutouts to the two Carlos’ at the lobby bar, Victor and Yvonne at the pool service, and Yuli and Morgan at the Gym who ran personalized boot camps! Make sure you check out the tasting menu with drink pairings at Latitude with spectacular food and creative cocktails made by Fabian(sp?).
