A paradise island. The hotel is clean and has great sized rooms. Very generous size bed and comfortable. We had pretty noisy neighbours above us the first 2 nights, but thankfully they then departed and after that we had no noise issues. Nice "beachy" Mexican hobo feel to the property. Think hammocks, Mexican blankets and natural stone wash basins. A/C was great. My best suggestion to the hotel is to put coffee machines in all the rooms. Nowadays that's kinda a given right? Apart from that we loved the room. The beach is opposite the hotel and the town center is close by. The buffet was good. We also tried a couple of places in town which weren't bad. Guy on reception is happy to recommend places to try. Relaxing vacation.

First time in Holbox but not first time in Mexico. The one thing that amazed us was the lack of cars on the streets which is big plus. Also, zero crime and no need to be on alert.
The hotel: Not new + big welcome at this hotel + nice buffee with themed nights at the dining room and large room.
Negative: Swimming pool not very large and kind of strict on check out time.
WE VERY MUCH LIKED HM PARAISO AND IT IS ON OUR LIST OF GO BACK TO HOTELS.

Staff were all nice and we felt welcome and at home from the first day. Our room was great. Very spacious and nicely decorated. Very clean too. The food was good with a nice selection and they made the effort to change it up on a daily basis. The ocean is just a few steps away but the pool was also pleasant to use and we liked the greenery surrounding the property which gave it a very natural feel. The island is pretty quiet place in general and a perfect place to get away from it all and switch off. We did just that and enjoyed every minute! We are now recommending it to people!

I am 54 years old and have been fortunate enough to experience hotels all over the world. Some hotels fantastic, some less so and some awful. But, NEVER have I experienced anything as appalling and crushingly disappointing as the 3 days out of 10 booked that I lasted at Paraiso. I arrived exhausted after a trip spanning 2 days from England. With no welcome whatsoever I was immediately asked to hand over my card to pay £4000 as full payment in advance for a 10 night stay. The WiFi connection for the card machine had broken so payment was unable to be taken. I was then informed I couldn't check in, couldn't have a shower, couldn't do anything until the machine was working. What I could do was buy a towel for 300 pesos to go for a swim in cold. A glorified puddle filled with ice cold water. Finally, WiFi was restored and £4000 was quickly extracted from my account. The room I was shown to was dark, dank and smelt like 3-4 dead Mexican badgers were lying beneath the floorboards. Next stop the restaurant. Cold, inedible slop was included in the upfront fee. If for some extraordinary reason I chose not to order from the cold, inedible, slop menu that was extra and had to be paid for immediately. Whether it be a taco or a towel everything has to be paid for upfront. Which would be fine if what had been paid for was delivered. But, and here is where the word 'criminal' becomes relevant very little was actually delivered. I asked for a car to be arranged to pick my girlfriend up from the airport which was fine with the now accustomed caveat of paying $250 upfront. No car was waiting when she arrived and a beyond dispute refund was aggressively denied. A man called Manuel was directly put in charge of my misery and my god did he fulfil his duties. If it's between a tent on the beach and Paraiso chose the tent. The hotel is appalling and the staff even worse.

Holbox was quite something, the sea is the most incredible shade of turquoise and it felt like we’d found an undiscovered Island.
We stayed ten nights at our hotel, arriving on golf buggies the hut style villas looked like a beach village in the sand. Our room was open, spacious and just gorgeous, soft beds and a one off bathroom made it feel super lux. The upstairs balcony was a generous one, loads of room to sit back and watch the sun going down.
The restaurant was great, a lot of effort was put into not only making it taste good but look good too. Service was good, the staff were lovely and ready to help if asked.
This was seriously romantic, long walks along the seashore, cocktails after dinner to the tune of crickets and birds flying home, we fell in love with Holbox, impossible not to.

Really everything we dreamed of and more. Such a beautiful place and a beautiful hotel to match. The hotel, pools and gardens are very well looked after and the staff are friendly and on hand day and night at reception to answer any questions. They were cool with calling taxis for us when we needed one and happy to give directions and so forth. Very nice room which had pool view and we slept well every night. Sand inevitably ended up in the room from our feet and shoes but the housekeeping ladies worked hard to keep the sand cleaned up around the restaurant and reception area. We were on half board basis and liked the food. They changed it up every day and it was always fresh. Great smoothies also! Liked the location at a quiet spot on Holbox and we pretty much had the beach to ourselves one day.
All round an excellent place to visit especially for couples and this is an excellent hotel to book!

I organised this trip for my wife, accrued major brownie points with the location, the view from our room was out of this world.
Liked the pace at this hotel, it was very definitely a place to unwind and relax. Food was great, especially the mexican dishes, a major favourite of mine, service friendly and all room facilities were to my wife’s liking and more.
We became obsessed with the beach, persuing getting comfortable in a hammock, took me a while but was worth the effort.
Never before found somewhere so tranquil, we would love to return.

On the beautiful unspoiled beachfront of Holbox. This hotel has a special feel to it and we definitely felt like we were on a proper vacation where we could sit back and relax in style. Staff all lovely with us and helpful with planning a fishing trip. Beautiful rooms with real wood flooring and colorful cushions and decor to give that Mexican flare. Food tasty and we tried their sister hotel right next door one night for Sushi and it was great too. Loved it all and highly recommend!

Stayed a week and came home wanting more which is a good sign. Holbox is a little known island off Mexico and we liked it loads more than the main touristy resorts of the mainland. The beach is vast and left pretty much in it's natural state. We saw plenty of wildlife like birds and iguanas. The hotel is spot on for relaxing. Clean, large rooms with comfortable beds and good showers. The restaurant is buffet style and has different theme nights. We enjoyed the food and have no complaints at all. Worth checking out.

Chosen specifically for our second honeymoon after twenty years of marriage. It was even more remote and beautiful than I’d ever imagined.
Relaxed and friendly service, the staff are always around if you need them, the food was good nice fresh fish, ripe fruits and everything else you expect.
The pathway that led to our room was magical, but the beach was knockout. This is one very special destination and like nowhere we’d ever been, there’s lots to explore and the town has a feel all of it’s own.
Wish we could have stayed longer.

So good we came back. It really is like paradise as it feels so cut off from the rest of the world. Amazing big unspoiled beach with good fishing trips if you like that. The hotel is excellent and feels very unique and calming. Nice trees and birds and iguanas everywhere! Great rooms with nice beds and bathrooms and the staff take care of their customers very well.
Maybe a little evening live music would have been nice whilst eating dinner like last time when we were here, but the food itself was great and a good variety.
The walk into town is not too long but taxi's will come to the hotel if you prefer.
