Hotel is located about 15 minutes outside of Florence located along a river. ( frequent shuttle service available). Country like setting among lush landscaping, gardens, green paths and cypress trees. Our room was a spotless suite, with a comfortable bed, marbled bathroom, with a free standing tub, lush toiletries and towels and windows that reminded me of the Austrian Alps that opened to views of the green grounds and river views. More closet space than one could ever need. Twinkling lights blanketed the stone walkways at night. So perfectly stunning and romantic. Staff were so courteous , polished and pleasant and helped support you with any request you may have had. Dinner was delicious as was breakfast. Small bar was lovely for after dinner drinks as well. A large outdoor pool with an adjourning cafe completed the space. Lite fare / late lunch and drinks in an open air setting were perfectly casual and just what we needed. Indoor common areas were cozy, comfortable and interesting. With grand books, statues and works of art to complement the plush furniture. If we return to Florence, without a doubt we would stay here again.

Villa La Massa is a dream come true. An absolute jewel just outside the chaos of Florence. We booked a room and were upgraded on arrival, then upgraded again when we asked for a room with more air conditioning power (bloody Americans). They obliged and we got the most gorgeous suite we have recently seen. Breakfast superb - some of the best coffee in Italy was served in the morning. Very accommodating staff - Maria and Ilaria (sp?) went out of their way to help us with our early morning departure and a shuttle into the city daily. Restaurant was superb - live piano music and a wood fireplace added to the touches that make this truly five star. You won’t regret this spot - it will now become our go to for Florence in the future.

This was the most spectacular stay of our entire Italian vacay! The service is exceptional and genuinely friendly. Rooms are spacious and perfectly appointed. And the food!! What can be said about the food except you’ll definitely want more, or at least to enjoy that caliber at every meal of your life. Enjoy lunch outdoors by the pool. And don’t miss exploring the magnificent grounds and gardens! We’ve stayed at other 6-star hotels in other countries but few can compare with La Massa.

It is in the countryside along the Arno River which is so very peaceful and relaxing. We enjoyed having cocktails on the patio, listening to music and enjoying the view. They also have a shuttle service available to Florence with the drop off right near Ponte de Vecchio which is nice if you choose to venture in to town. I highly recommend this countryside retreat.

Relaxing and amazing stay
We recently visited Villa La Massa for a chilled long weekend prior to our wedding. The hotel and spa is incredible and we cannot recommend it enough. The staff in particular are a credit to the hotel. We loved our stay and will be back as soon as we can.

Villa la Massa is a hidden gem of an hotel just outside Florence. We had some initial reservations about the location, as we thought it might be too hot as it is not in the hills, but this was totally incorrect. There is a nice breeze off the Arno in the mornings. The location is extremely practical, within easy reach of Florence, and the main roads to Tuscany. It feels like you are on a country estate, while actually being handy to everything you would like to do. As mentioned in previous reviews we enjoyed sightseeing in the morning and then returning to the excellent pool area in the afternoon. The courtyard area for drinks was charming and both the casual and formal restaurants were excellent. The hotel also organised a casual dinner for us in the courtyard one evening which was lovely, and would be very helpful if you had young children. We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a suite, and this was immaculately presented, and the bed was among the best we have experienced. We would strongly recommend.

Special thanks to the staff, especially Elisa/Joshua/Ahmad/Sylvester and the rest (too many to remember all). Shuttle provided to/from Ponte Vecchio daily which was extremely useful (taxi's are sometimes hard to find). I would HIGHLY recommend if planning a trip to Florence/Tuscany. We will absolutely visit again on our next trip to the region.

What a wonderful experience! We stayed at Villa La Masss for 3 nights and absolutely loved it. In fact we felt like being part of a family. A peaceful Retreat within a very short driving distance to Florence and oozing history, charm and beautiful personalised touches throughout. We loved our room in their newest tract La Limonaia - which featured our own small beautiful garden as well. Overall the service stood out and was fantastic and engaging. We loved the gardens of the property and its location near the river. Its old world charm is carefully balanced with more contemporary touches and for us was the perfectly chic countryside retreat. We can’t wait to come back.

Our stay in this beautiful hotel was too short. It is perfectly situated 20 minutes from the centre of Florence overlooking the Arno River & set amongst hectares of the most beautiful gardens, manicured lawns & giant oaks. We could not fault our suite, the service & food & must congratulate management on how well they do with selecting their amazing team. We particularly want to thank Andrea who is so composed, professional m, charming & brilliant at what he does in the bar & the restaurant along with his wonderful team, for example Vasili, Frederika & Thomas. And the staff at reception were always so warm & helpful, nothing ever being too much trouble. The drivers providing the half hourly shuttle service to the city were equally as good. We thank everyone we encountered at this gorgeous hotel & dream of returning.

This hotel is truly the pinnacle of a luxury boutique experience. Set 15-20 minutes outside of Florence; when inside the confines of the property, you’d never know that you’re so close to a bustling metropolis. It is serene, calm, rural bliss. A sprawling property with working gardens and orchards, the buildings are a mix of medieval villa style and modern touches. Our room, looking over the Arno over, was recently renovated and was beautiful. The local Italian bathroom products felt like the height of luxury. The pool was always calm and not crowded. There were never more than 10 people in the pool area, with lots of staff to keep you refreshed. Next to the pool was a more casual trattoria with AMAZING authentic Italian food. The spa, though very small, was incredible. I had one of the best massages I’ve ever had. I wish I remembered the masseuses name. Lastly, the service was high touch and very personal. Everyone knew our names and asked us about our meals the previous days, and if we needed recommendations, etc. 100/10 experience.

The staff went out of their way to ensure we were comfortable and having a good time from the moment we walked in the door. The decor and feel of the hotel is just beautiful. The outdoor terrace was cute to have a glass of wine at while watching the sun set over the Tuscan hills. There is also free shuttle that brings you back and forth to Florence.

Our trip to Villa La Massa was truly perfect. The hotel has everything to offer- starting with the proximity to Florence, and the beautiful Tuscan countryside. The staff were a dream throughout our stay. They did everything they could to make our visit comfortable and were happy to help with any specific requests. I planned a proposal while we visited, and the team did an incredible job of creating the perfect setting for it to take place. The food at both restaurants is second to none- this was a big reason for visiting having been to Il Verrocchio last year. To top this off, breakfast overlooking the Arno river was a brilliant experience. The facilities have everything to offer- from extensive gardens, a 5* spa and recently refurbished rooms. I cannot recommend the hotel more and we will definitely be returning. Thanks for a magical weekend!

Villa La Massa has been on my list to experience for years. I was lucky enough to book a one night stay after spending some a few days in the center of Florence. The serene setting on the Arno, surrounded by the gentle Tuscan hills was just what we craved after being in the frenetic City Center. The Villa has been welcoming guests since the late 1940's and their experience shows throughout the property. Our room was exactly what we had hoped. High ceilings, marble bath stocked with high quality amenities, a gorgeous view of the terrace and river, ceilings so high they should have their own weather. Pitch perfect. My partner booked a massage in the downstairs spa, that she proclaimed was the best that she had ever experienced. I used the gym in an effort to redeem myself after a week of enthusiastic eating, and found it to be modern, well appointed and spotless. The sauna was spot on too. Cocktails were enjoyed in the Villa's bar. Beautifully prepared, generous accompaniments and fun banter with the staff made for a pleasant hour before dinner. We dined on property and enjoyed and extraordinary meal. My truffle risotto was infused with the depth of flavor that only comes with the best ingredients carefully prepared. Great food, great service accompanied by a talented piano player. It was a a meal that we will both remember for a long time. Manager Elisa Peroli runs a world class hotel staffed with happy professional who embody hospitality. 10 out of 10. You will not be disappointed .
