The resort was great and the rooms beautiful. We enjoyed the restaurants but our best time was by the pool. Angel, Alejandro and Jorge met all our needs. They were the best! This was our second time at Villa del Palmar and can’t wait to come back!
Never disappointed at Villa del Palmar

This is my second time at Villa del Palmar. It is one of the best all inclusive resorts we’ve been to. I can’t say enough good things about all the staff here. They were all exceptional but one in particular stands out. Tai, the hostess at Caprichos. I use a cane and can’t stand long. She was always ready to accommodate me as quickly as possible. She has a fantastic mannerism. She gave my day a great start. Will definitely be back.

We staying at another resort (I use the term loosely) decided to leave after two of the 7 days. Move to Villa del palmar and have overwhelmed with attention! The food has been amazing as well! Our server Angel Tax at the Italian restaurant was over the top amazing!!

The service was over the top! We had a very clean and well stocked room with nightly turn down. Food was average. They could use some improvement in scheduling reservations at the speciality restaurants. We would try to get a reservation, put on a wait list and never contacted. They close the only buffet dinner service on Thursday/Friday nights and force you to a reservation We waited 1 hr past our requested time each night and walked to the restaurant and told our plight and they seated us both times! Need more beach chairs for the "common" guest. The reserved gold towel chairs would be empty and folks sitting in the sand because they weren't special guest.

Angel who works the pool area is absolutely the sweetest guy. We never had to worry about a chair he had us covered with towels and whatever we needed.
We had so much fun with arobics everyday. Botlgns and his Rocky music were great. He made it fun. Alejandro has so much energy and always a smile, he obviously knows his stuff. We loved it. Jargo is so nice. We loved them all. All the activity people are wonderful.
Edwardo in The Sports bar restaurant went above and beyond to make both meals we had there special. Amazing service there. Also the manager there was great! She was working so hard to accommodate everyone on a busy night. Always a smile.
The supervisor of the elite pool was definately not my favorite. We are elite members and have been for about 6 or so years and in a 3 week stay we got to have chairs at the elite poole 2 times. And one of those times he was mad at Kevin for giving us a cabana because he didn't approve it (even though he wasn't there). Kevin is so sweet. After that he checked on us every day no matter where we were to make sure we were comfortable.
Eric was our server for some of our stay and was the best pool service we had. Always right there when we needed him and remembered everything we liked.
Our concierge Ale was ok, communication on dinner reservations could have been better. But the worst part was being there 3 weeks and her telling us she made arrangements for us to stay in the same room the whole time (we had a lock off room that turned into a 2 bedroom) and we ended up having to move the last week. And we only found that out because I went to get a new key bracelet because mine came off and they told us at the desk. All the refrigerator stuff and groceries we bought. She invited us to an owners happy hour but didn't even tell us where, so our concierge from last year (who was amazing) took us over.
I will say I'm very disappointed that they have over sold the elite and we really have no benefit now except the check in and a massage. We can't even get in the elite pool ( which was loaded with the kids jumping and diving in) and it's a small pool anyway. It really should be adult only since there are 2 and really 3 kid pools.
Also the chef at Davinos was amazing. Their food is great. We bought lobster on the beach one day and he prepared it for us. We just had to buy 2 bottle if wine. He added shrimp for $2.00 a piece. The salad was amazing. And the pasta he added perfect. A great experience.
No coffee and pastry in the lobby in the morning is disappointing. They do have it at Garza. I'm just beginning to feel like "the red headed step child". Absolutely no fault if the employees who are amazing, just the Villa Group being all about the money.

Canadians there from Feb 21 - Mar 8, 2025 Non All-Inclusive in a studio. Besides the kitchenette removals, which is a huge con to us, the other cons were just inconveniences.
CONS - Last time we were here, in 2018, the studio rooms had kitchenettes. Once Tafer joined with Villa Group, they did renovations and took out the kitchenettes, dishes and microwave. In the room now is an exceptionally mini fridge, a nespresso pod machine and a few glasses. We asked for some dishes to use and never recieved any. Not helpful if you go non all-inclusive. 1 bedroom suites and above still have kitchenettes.
-CAN dollar convert to USD is bad
-Not close to town for restaurants off resort. There are taxis (more expensive), uber (resonable price) and local bus/collectivos (10 pesos/person 1 way).
-Palmita Market prices expensive (eg. tomatos 19peso/kg in town yet 109peso/kg at Market)
-Car ferry to Isla Mujeres has really increased. 45ish pesos from 2018 to 276ish pesos now. There was a more reasonable choice by using Ben's speed boats.
-automatic 15% tip at restaurants if not AI. We like to tip our servers in cash.
PROS - resort is beautiful. Warm, clear aqua blue waters with good snorkeling from the beach. Main pool is heated, bridge pool is cool, 4 hottubs.
-Staff we interacted with were amazing. Shout out to Veronica (non member concierge, always a smile, wave and how's your day when she saw us), Abimael (front desk, always smiling, remembered our names, had time for a chat, very helpful with our questions)
Edgar (front desk/supervisor, happy, helpful, calming prescence)
Francesca (room cleaner, friendly and patient while I tried conversing in Spanish with her)
All Activity staff: Edgar, Alex, Arely, Francisco(Paco) Such fun activities with them in charge. Always time for a chat, helpful with Spanish, smiles all the time)
-Market Deli and room service pricing not terrible.
-hotel/airport transfer fair price. We didn't book it soon enough so used Cancun Shuttle. It was equal to the resort and very reliable.
