I have been lucky enough to stay at some pretty amazing hotels around the world, but this hotel may be the top of the list now. The hotel itself is incredible, with an amazing interior, grounds and view. It is the perfect place to be outside the city, and have the feel of a Victorian Era Tuscan Villa. The view from our rooms (we were on the 3rd floor, or Floor 2 in Italy), had a view of the city, the Duomo and the surrounding hills. Just amazing. The rooms were comfortable, with wonderful beds and linens, our bathroom had a heated floor, which was nice for the cooler mornings. The staff were incredibly kind, service was outstanding, and they made us feel like we were the only guests there! The food on site was just amazing. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet each morning and had dinner one evening there. Everything was 5 stars in quality, taste and presentation. We had a great time enjoying the use of the shuttle service both to and from the city center. The drop off and pickup point is the Palazzo Republica so it couldn't be more convenient. I can't emphasize enough how wonderful our stay was! Thanks to Ariela and her staff for truly making our 2nd trip to Florence so memorable. We will be back!

We stayed for 3 nights in this exquisite hotel - we were enchanted by this magical hotel. From the moment we stepped in the hotel we were treated with the most exquisite charming and sincere service by the lovely team at Villa Cora. Thank you for such a lovely stay. I would not hesitate to recommend Villa Cora in every sense. The experience was that of staying in a private house combined with relaxed high end luxury. The team went out of their way to help make our experience beautiful - from dining, to spa and to the unique smoking room bar! This is a truly unique hotel and we will definitely be returning. Small touches such as the shuttle driver into Florence, details in the room - Ortiga products / linen and so on….all point to the thought and exquisite taste of the owner and team. We intend to be back soon with family and friends.

We recently spent a wonderful few days at Villa Cora. The service was impeccable - both professional and warm but with an attention to detail that did not go unnoticed by my husband and I. Our room was beautifully appointed while the food was just extraordinary good - I don’t think it’s possible to find a better breakfast in Florence or indeed Italy!

Went for drinks and cigars a couple of times. Service was exceptional with a good selection of single malts and cognacs. Their pizzas were a pleasant surprise - light n delicious! Seating by the pool is very cozy. Worth a visit despite being a bit out of town.

We have stayed in many 5-star++ hotels in the world and this hotel ranks in our top 5, from the service to the location to the views to the exceptional rooms. Upon arrival, we were personally welcomed by the GM, who takes a "hands on" approach to operating this Grand Dame, originally built as a proposal (they married, she fell in love with the gardener, he tried to burn it down). Bianca at the front desk is amazing and friendly and can do anything. She helped another guest locate lost luggage from an airline, spending hours on the phone with them. Yay Bianca!! The rooms are very comfortable with all the luxury amenities you would except. WIFI is excellent. Immaculate. Not one bit of dust or scuff on walls. Breakfast is lovely, a large spread with also an a la carte option. Everyone in there is cheerful and it's probably the best crew of the lot. Dinner was fine but we enjoyed our dinners in the city a bit more. We used the shuttle several times and also enjoyed the 15-20 minute walk to Ponte Vecchio through charming streets. Much easier on the downhill but we did both. Tip: When taking taxis back, it's much easier and cheaper to take them from the Villa Cora side of the river, ideally the one way road that heads back towards Villa Cora, otherwise you end up in terrible traffic which you pay for. Most of the guests here are well heeled and dressed up, so pack accordingly. I'm looking at you fellow Americans. Don't be showing up for breakfast in cargo shorts and sweatpants. The Porsches and Bentleys out front tell you that this clientele does their shopping at the finest stores around the world. Service is friendly and not pretentious, and we loved the location. We will return to Villa Cora! Best from Roberto e Tomasso!

An absolutely exceptional property. The hotel is just gorgeous. The rooms are lovely and different from one another. Everything in the rooms from the beds and sheets, towels and toiletry to every little detail, is very luxurious and well thought out with guest comfort in mind. The staff are exceptionally warm and hospitable. The breakfast is wonderful. The other F&B outlets are also great. Wonderful wine list and reasonable priced. The pool is heated, so even until mid October, if not later, you can easily use the pool. The SPA is very well equipped and has many options from treatments to other spa facilities ( sauna, steam room, hot tub,...) Lorenzo at concierge is very friendly and knowledgeable and can help with anything you need for an exceptional visit to Florence. His restaurant suggestions were right on point. This hotel is a must visit. And don't forget to take your aperitive to the rooftop for an unforgettable view!

The villa is beautiful and elegant, the pool area is lovely but be careful of the rooms. Some in the main villa are small and dark but still charged at an extortionate rate. Service was cool and not overly friendly apart from the day when a wedding party was arriving and it seemed to improve dramatically. The Shuttle system is good but not something you can rely on to be there when you need it but it is a good add on. The outdoor terrace is lovely and views towards Florence are beautiful. There is some road noise due to the position of the hotel close to a busy road. I have given feedback direct to management and hope this might be considered for the future guests to enjoy as it would greatly enhance this beautiful and unique hotel.

This was a return visit to beautiful Vila Cora. It’s a great choice for people who want easy access to Florence but with the benefit of a pool. Having seen the sights many times, this is good option for us, as the hotel runs a bus service for guests and so we would spend the day around the pool and then into Florence in the evening. Thank you to the driver who took us to Piazza Michelangelo to see the sunset. Because it is so beautiful it is a popular wedding venue, often with large gatherings during the day by wedding guests staying elsewhere, which the hotel allows. It can therefore get very busy poolside and noisy. On the day of the wedding the main public spaces close after breakfast to prepare. The pool also means the hotel is popular with families as very few Florence hotels have a pool. Ahead of arrival I contacted the hotel to ask if it would be possible to have an annexe room which is where we had previously stayed, the hotel replied that whilst they couldn’t guarantee, they would make a note and this was fine with us. When we arrived we were advised that we had requested a room in the Vila, which confused us a little and were taken up to the top floor. The room was small and dark, it was hot in Florence and the air con struggled, however it has a large walk in shower and a balcony with lovely views. Ahead of arrival I also emailed about a private visit to San Gimignano but didn’t receive a reply. Breakfast is fantastic, with a wide range of options of the highest quality, we ate on the terrace which was lovely. Pool service was a bit hit and miss and you didn’t always get everything you’d ordered. Same with housekeeping, on a couple of evenings there was no turndown service and no complimentary water left on one. My glasses also were knocked under the bed. It’s for these reasons that this year no five circles, that said, I would return as the Vila Cora ticks a lot of boxes and Florence is my favourite city.

This place has all the facilities of a 5 star but some things are lacking that make it one in my opinion. The location is good if you want to be close to the main city. It’s not as cut off as one might want. Lots of road noise etc around the pool. Restaurant was excellent and can’t fault it. Property itself it very nice and smells fresh. Room also good. Although a lot on ground floor which isn’t really my thing. Ok here’s why not really a 5 star 1. Some of the sun loungers by the pool were broken in that you couldn’t set the back rest to some positions. However this could be fixed with a simple maintenance and pair of pliers 2. There was a plastic wrapper beside the pool that no one picked up. There was no trash visible. I moved it to a more obvious place. Still there the next day! 3. Wanted to iron a shirt and pants. Don’t offering ironing boards. Have to pay for them to be done. Made me 30 minutes late for dinner. Don’t understand this rule. I am used to 5 star hotels that accommodate your requests. 4. Someone had put several drinks on our pool bill. Drinks we don’t even drink. But took about 20 minutes to get removed and had to speak to bar manger. Why? Not like they can argue for me to pay for something that was not ours. 5 star hotels customers are not challenged. Hopefully these things will be picked up and resolved to make this the 5 star hotel it deserves to be.

Villa Cora is an opulently decorated historic building overlooking Florence central. We selected the hotel as we wanted somewhere in walking distance to Florence Central, and this property was perfect. An easy 1/2 hour walk to all the major attractions, and a courtesy shuttle to come back to the hotel. The pool area was excellent and very welcome after the heat of Florence. The restaurant was also very good in a poolside setting. We were disappointed that the roof top bar was not operating - we went up and got some good photos, but it would have been great to have an aperitif at the same time. In saying this the pool side bar was lovely. Our room was quiet, spacious and well appointed. We had an issue with the air conditioning which while couldn’t be addressed at the time (after 9pm) was promptly and appropriately addressed the next morning. We would recommend.

Lovely old world style hotel within walking distance to town. Lovely small decks with amazing views. Beautiful grounds and setting without feeling fussy. Excellent concierge service who accommodated our multiple last minute requests with ease. Agree with others that the bathrooms and workout room are both very small ( work out room can probably accommodate two pax max) Luckily I was the only one in the gym the three times I used it. The vibe was grand and lovely and the breakfast selection had something for everyone. We did not use the shuttle to town as we love to walk but that seems a great service. Highly recommended!

When I came here on our first visit I thought I'd never stay in another hotel quite as luxurious as Villa Cora....... I was lucky enough to visit a second time! Nothing has changed, from the moment you walk into Villa Cora it takes your breath away, it's like going back in time to the beautiful manor and home it once was. We were lucky to have been given an upgrade with complimentary champagne on arrival and minibar throughout or stay. Our Junior Suite on the first floor had amazing views of Florence in the distance. Its location, away from the hustle and bustle of beautiful Florence is ideal - you're able to return after a long day to relax and unwind before heading back out again in the evening. A big thank you to all the staff who are all friendly, helpful and courteous and made our stay very special.

Pros 1- Great location in a clean green area that surrounded by peaceful superb neighborhoods. In Villa Cora, you feel you stay in a country side but at the same time you are very near to a beautiful charming city 2- Clean room and great house keeping 3- Great history awaits the guests when they find out the property was inhabited by the French Empress Eugenia (widow of Napoleon III) 4- Helpful, smiling, friendly staffs and they all speak English perfectly, the thing which makes communication very simple. From the shuttle chauffeur to the receptionists all are respectful to guests and guests’ cultures 5- Great free shuttle service between the property and city center during two operation periods (morning and evening) Cons 1- Too expensive breakfast that costs € 40 per person. Breakfast package options were not available in booking.com while reserving and had to pay separately for the breakfast which was really overpriced 2- Outdated furniture (classic double room) that some not properly functioning such as cupboard doors. I believe renovation is required 3- Some essential items were not available in the room such as iron, iron board and electric kettle
