The hotel staff are excellent and the breakfast was lovely but the hotel and rooms need to be refurbished as it’s very tired. For a 4* hotel I wasn’t expecting such old outdated bedroom furniture and in our first room the curtain’s were ripped at the top and there were no plug points by the dressing table, therefore we requested to be moved. Our second room was slightly better but the furniture should have been renewed or at least painted. We were staying over Christmas so I expecting to stay in a nice hotel but felt this was more 3* than 4!

My wife and I stayed three nights here as part of a guided motorbus trip in Italy. This hotel is very well located with good restaurants and an excellent gelataria located within 1-block walking distance. In addition, it is only about a 15-minute downhill walk to reach the historic area, although the return uphill walk is a bit more of a hike. Our room was very nice, with a good mattress and a spacious bathroom. The staff here were friendly, and the included breakfast was tasty and generous. We cannot address value, since this was part of a tour package. That said, we would happily stay here again.

Hotel is a typical Italian hotel. Would not rate as a 4 star hotel. Rooms are tired and need updating . Providing no glasses in the rooms but paper cups to have a glass of wine in your room and paper cups to have tea & coffee in room . No milk provided to have with your cup of tea or coffee . I asked for mugs & glasses told to go to the restaurant but the man would not let me have any telling me there was an event on and they was for them . This event went on for the days we stayed and seemed to take over the hotel stating guest . Breakfast was plenty full with lots of choice . Staff on reception lovely shame the man in the restaurant let the team down by being so rude when I tried to borrow just two cups and glasses . Would I return to this hotel No .

This hotel is a hidden gem. Staff are very friendly and helpful from the get go, the rooms although dated have everything you need for a comfortable stay , including robes and slippers! We slept great here , very quiet , good air conditioning and very comfy pillows. The breakfast was tasty and they had a very good selection and again the staff at breakfast were so cheerful and friendly. It’s also in good walking distance to local restaurants and the main landmarks. I’ve had a lovely stay here and would highly recommend to others having a short city break in Rome.

Firstly, I can’t believe some of the comments regarding this hotel. It is Rome folks. The rooms are older and smaller. That is part of the history. Now for the positive. What you want in Rome is a place that allows access by foot to the main attractions, or the ability to get a taxi if needed. This had both. Yes the room is not what you might get elsewhere in the world, but so what. The staff were simply amazing. They went out of their way to assist my wife and I every time we requested anything. They were simply outstanding. I will take GREAT service over a more modern room every day of the week. Every day we went down to the restaurant for what was a fantastic breakfast, we were greeted with smiles and help. It was such a great start to every day. We like to stay in nice hotels and had no idea what this hotel would be like. I would stay there again in a minute just for the service and its location. Finally, if you do stay here, go to the restaurant around the corner ‘La Locanda il Bacco”. Incredible food. Reasonably priced given that this is a higher end restaurant.

Listen to the reviews that say this is tired and worn. The first room we were shown had a desktop so water-stained that I’m surprised it wasn’t discarded long ago. There was also a step up into the bathroom, a real hazard at night. We were able to move to a slightly larger room that did not have these issues. There were, however, nails sticking out of the bathroom door molding (my husband removed them). The furniture in the common rooms also showed years of wear. Although this wasn't an issue with us, this a hotel with zero accessibility; even the main floor had multiple levels with steps. There were a couple of upsides: a good included breakfast and a responsive staff. This is a hotel in bad need of refurbishment and I’m surprised that it’s part of chain that bills itself as “luxury” on its website.

From arrival to departure we couldn't have been more happy with our choice to stay here. Yes, you have to do quite a bit of walking to get to the major sites (20 mins to Trevi, 35 mins to Colloseum), but it was in a nice quiet area which was a joy to return to after a day in the choas and noise of the city. We had a superior twin room on the 5th floor (507), which was a corner room with two windows with different street aspects. The room was a good size, and the bathroom was large and well equipped, and the beds were comfortable. The room was ready when we arrived earlier than the check-in time, which is always a bonus. There was only one elevator, but it was speedy and efficient. Breakfast was a delight, with an amazing choice of hot and cold foods. We didn't eat in the restaurant but did enjoy pre-dinner drinks in the courtyard, which was a wonderful peaceful oasis. Drinks were served by a delightful friendly man (didn't get his name). In fact, all the staff we encountered at the Empire Roma were friendly, helpful, and professional. I would recommend this hotel.

Was a very nice stay 2 nights in Rome in Empire Palace hotel. Short walk to Trevi fountain, restaurants, shopping. Hotel itself is classic and stylish. We were really pleased with the reception ladies, they went above and beyond to accommodate us when we asked for the assistance. Miss Rome already

My wife and I arrived at 13.00 after travelling from 3 am. With her medical conditions we wanted to freshen up and shower and change clothing etc and other personal care issues. We were shown a extremely small public toilet of the hotel down 4 flights of steps we could even fit a suitcase in. No apologies. We went ti retrieve our bags from the same lady and with tiredness I forgot which pocket my ticket was in. Now she was scanning our passports again but refused to realise the bags even though she took them off us. Gym closed no reason , yet advertised as open. Breakfast basic , no welcome or interaction The room has holes in the walls and tired. The shower was dirty. Not all the plugs worked. Asked to speak ti the manger who never obliged. 2 lovely staff one on reception abs one at the bar. But the ladies cold rude and it was too much trouble to help. Wouldn’t recommend it. Needs a total revamp
