Thompson Zihuatanejo

The Thompson was fantastic!! We had Francisco everyday as our beach server and he was amazing!!! He had our chairs and towels ready to go each morning. Friendly , attentive and great service! The grounds are stunning and the rooms beautiful! We will be back!!!

This review is well overdue. I have been going to the Thompson property for over 20 years. The staff particularly Abigail makes you feel so welcomed and over the years has gone way out of her way to accommodate us. There’s also a lot to be said of her big smile every time she greet you. She really is a gem and has helped us so much. We love the Thompson because it feels like home paradise! There is always a cool breeze no matter what the weather is and the beach staff, including Eddie and Francisco are also so awesome. Every day is a good day. This place is fabulous, you are right on La Ropa Beach, the rooms and grounds are gorgeous which you can't see from the street. It was wonderful being that close to the beach. The service at this hotel is exceptional and our every need was catered to. We had breakfast and lunch every day on the beach and the food was delicious. We opted to go out every night for dinner to sample some of the Zihuatanejo restaurants and had several great experiences. In particular, I would like to give special praise to our server that we had most frequently, Adrian, (I hope I am remembering his name correctly), because every time we were thinking about ordering something he was right there. Incredible!!

The hotel continues to excel. The grounds are lovely, but the staff makes this hotel tops. Many thanks to Bruno at the front desk, Hiliberto, Ellie, Antolyn, and Antonio at Hou, and on the beach, Alejandro, Efrin and, of course, Erriberto. Can't wait to return.

Beautiful resort (not all inclusive) on secluded beach. Rooms, view and service from staff is amazing. Location on Playa Ropa is excellent. Recommend the Beach Suites as they have their own mini pool as well as direct beach access with palapas you can reserve

Beautiful resort on white-sand Playa La Ropa. Our lagoon suite on the second floor had a large outside area with plunge pool and a distant view of the ocean. Upstairs lagoon suites have a smaller interior space than first floor suites but get more light. Lounge chairs on the beach with palapa umbrellas were the ideal place to spend the day. Once you are set up by a staff member, the palapa is yours for the day and you can come and go. We walked along the beach to La Gaviota for dinner one night, and were able to walk all the way to Las Gatas beach on another day from the resort. Kayaks and paddle boards are available to take out on the bay as part of the resort fee. There isn’t much more to the spa than several treatment rooms, but I had an excellent massage with Rosy, who is as charming as she is talented. Note that spa treatment prices are considerably higher than what is posted online. The gym is well equipped with free weights as well as cardio machines, benches, and other machines. The staff at the Thompson was exceptional - they could not have been warmer or more helpful. Many thanks to Ismael and Nadia, Franco at kayaks, our housekeeper Susanna, and especially to Bruno at the front desk who took care of our every need.

Absolutely the nicest staff of any establishment, anywhere. Stay was flawless, start to finish. Very clean, beautifully situated and did I mention how nice everyone was? Lots of small details contributed to our experience. We’re thinking of making it an annual trip.

We have stayed at the Thompson for many years. It is a special paradise . It is located in one of the most beautiful places in the world . If you go there once you will always want to go back! But what makes it extra special are the people they are experienced they are efficient and want to make sure you have a wonderful time. Over the years I have known Abigail, who approaches her job with professionalism and enthusiasm. She is one of a kind. Also Bruno, Eddie ,Juan , and Francisco not only wonderful people but they make your stay extra special. Thank you to the Thompson for making all those years so wonderful. The staff was lovely. The room was spacious and quiet - except the toilet has a saloon type door and is not very private. The beach is fairly quiet and swimmable. Margaritas were outstanding. Overall a very relaxing place to be. Nothing like the higher traffic tourist spots.

This is our third stay at this property in the past four years. We have stayed in a Beach Suite, a Swim-Up Suite, and in a Lagoon Suite and each of these has benefits (though the Lagoon Suite has the best size. Everything about this hotel is outstanding. The rooms are great, the beach and the pool areas are great, and the location on Playa La Ropa is perfect (easy access to town, local restaurants, sunsets). But what really makes this a wonderful stay is the service provided by all of the staff. They do everything right to make your stay perfect. Front Desk and Housekeeping are responsive. But most of all, the staff at Hao are all welcoming, attentive, and make the guests feel at home. In particular, Ellie at the restaurant and Juan on the beach are two reasons we will be back - outstanding and warm service always. Gracias a todos!

This is my 8th time at the resort - some changes they need to make would be to let the guests know the special theme nights, at each restaurant they do a taco night, seafood night and Mexican fiesta but you have no idea when they are. A note under the door the night before alerting the guests of next days events would be great. We love The Beach Boys Francisco, Ediberto, Juan and Guapo all great guys and they really love their jobs. Resort was full but didn’t feel that way but unfortunately you need to play the towel game - get up early and have them set you up. Didn’t see any GM or manager during our stay, usually in the past he would walk around and chat with guests but this trip no sightings. It’s always a pleasure to see the best and happiest Bartender on playa de ropa Marco he is loved by all! They really shouldn’t do day passes when hotel is at full occupancy not fair to the paying guests. That’s a wrap on another great stay in Zihua.
