We had high hopes for our visit because the hotel had been recommended to us (by a friend who stays here for business).
Frustratingly, it was a let-down from the start when we entered the foyer and saw that the promised great views had been replaced with glazed over windows to cover a load of construction. Not only that, there's also no restaurant to sit and enjoy the golf view.
WE WERE NOT TOLD THIS WOULD BE HAPPENING, and it had a material impact on our stay.
We didn't have any choice at this stage, so we checked in, only to find the room we'd been given was the very furthest room from reception as possible, bar 1 other room. The walk was LONG and offered absolutely no view of the course.
No robes in the room - not a showstopper but poor.
It's not like this is a cheap hotel - the prices are hugely hiked up, likely for all the conference attendees who can expense all these little pleasures.
We should have been told at least about the construction.
We expect more from Westin and likely won't come back to this hotel again, as they just don't seem to care.

We stayed at the Westin Villas as timeshare owners and came to the Resort for dinner, lazy river and relaxing here also. I have gone on your site and looked at other sites for your resort and no where did I read that the hotel was UNDER CONSTRUCTION! When you enter the hotel the glass view to the expansive golf course is covered with cloudy plastic so you don’t see the construction and I understand that. BUT, it must be disclosed to guest, even in the restaurant you can’t see out.
Now I saw the new drawings to install a huge covered outdoor bar and entertainment area and that will be beautiful when it’s done. It appears to be bigger than the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess. Since I’m only coming here off and on for a week it’s not effecting me as much. I hope to come back in the future when it’s all done.

We decided to try The Westin Kierland for the first time and boy are we glad we did. I feel like their favorite words are "sure" and "no problem" and "there is no charge for that". We ended up having to change the dates of our stay by a couple days and Marcie who helped me book my package, pick a great room & reserve a couple pool chairs said "no problem" and switched it. She was amazing. We got a late flight change and asked if we could stay past check out..."sure". We asked if we could cancel our pool chairs for the last day of our reservation, sure "there is no charge for that". The gentleman who worked around the adult pool giving waters was great. He was there so fast if our waters ran out. We loved that we didn't have to reserve chairs by the adult pool. All around a great resort. I dont expect a yes every time but it was shocking how happy they are to please guests.

This hotel is the perfect location to enjoy Scottsdale. 2 beautiful open malls within walking distance with shops, restaurants, cinema, all covered in shady palms. Hotel Pools, lazy river, grounds are beautifully kept. Staff are excellent, friendly, helpful and professional. We have stayed in this hotel 14 times, always in June, for hot , dry weather. Don’t be put off by the high temperatures, the humidity is very low. The hotel is geared up for UV sun protection, shade and water everywhere. A wonderful place to visit.

Here is everything you need to know about staying at the Westin Kierland in a 40 second read. There were two features of the Westin that I was sadly unaware of prior to check in. First, its pet friendly! That said I saw only a few dogs in and around the hotel on this Memorial Day weekend; the hotel was not overrun with canines. There may be a few rules on areas where dogs are allowed as I observed the pool staff questioning entry with a dog owner at the pool gate. The second is that this hotel has not succumbed to the Woke mob and allows guests to imbibe in cigars in the large back patio area complete with fire pits, comfy chairs and food and beverage service…guests are not, as in the cases of most hotels, relegated to some obscure and decrepit area in the hinterlands of the property should they want to light up. Bravo! I found the staff exceptionally well trained. This Westin has moved out of any post Covid staffing shortage. The staff managed the Memorial day crowds very well, especially the pool areas which were packed. The hotel is building an addition to the back patio area that faces the pond and golf courses; this was not a detractor on this particular weekend. On the hotel amenities…..if you are a Scotch fan, you will be in heaven; visit the Scotch Library. You Scotch aficionados will pay dearly for the experience but I’m certain that you all are accustomed to the extravagant nature of your libation. There is a great hole in the wall saloon below the main lobby worth trying. Beer is fairly priced; shots (bourbon) are exceptionally expensive. The pool scene: A rather mundane adult pool (small ish). The adult pool has a lazy river with a bar stop….awesome. Also has some kind of surf/wave machine that was popular with teens. Recommend that you pay extra for a reserved chair ($50-$75) or cabana ($450 ish) as sadly there are classless and uncouth trash guests who come early, “claim” a group of lounge chairs then leave to return later. Pool drinks are expensive (a bucket of 5 beers for $75), pool food is “good”; big bang of the buck are the $5 fries. All in the Westin Kierland was a great stay for our Memorial Staycation…highly recommend!

We booked a resort view room and the "view" was of the roof and air conditioning unit. When we opened the blinds, there was a big "Balcony closed" sign and couldn't even step out on our balcony. Not sure what was going on with the paint in the room. Looks like they had "touched up" the paint, but was poorly done. I felt like I was in a Motel 6, not a beautiful resort. We had asked when we checked in for our room to be made up by noon as we had work to do and needed the room available. They said that it would be no problem, they would put it on the schedule, but by 3:30 it still hadn't been made up so we finally had to ask the front desk to get it taken care of.
The food at the Waltz & Weiser was consistently served lukewarm, sometimes even cold. Cold chicken wings are not pleasant! The service was slow. It took us 1 1/2 hours to have one drink and a meal for dinner. The time we went was not a busy dinner hour time so I'm not sure why it was so slow. I didn't see many servers so I wonder if they were just understaffed.
This is not our first time at the Westin and for the price you pay for a room here, I expect to be able to step out on our balcony and not have a patchwork paint job and have hot food at the restaurant. It was a very disappointing time.
