We looked forward to heading back to our home away from home to escape the long days and unwind. Worth the money! Make sure you have a cocktail and enjoy the live piano player if you get a chance.

We felt wrapped in luxury from the minute we stepped through the revolving door into the beautiful lobby. Porters took our luggage and showed us to the front desk where the clerk went over and above assisting us, answering our many questions. Our room was large and luxurious and the large beautiful bathroom offered a separate shower and oversized bathtub, with all the amenities you could want. The concierge desk was extremely helpful and all assistance was done with a smile. We were located across from the Arno near a wide variety of restaurants and within easy walking distance of Ponte Vecchio, the Duomo, and the Ufizzi Gallery. We hope to return to beautiful Florence and would be happy to stay at this hotel again.

what a horrible experience. this is supposed to be a five star hotel? paid for a superior upgraded room and received a different room. the hotel justified it by stating that the room faced the river which is what i booked. no, i booked an upgraded room with a river view.
more importantly, we were placed on the first floor right above the restaurant and the lobby and could hear everything happening below us well into the night. we could even hear the chairs dragging across the floors, the lobby music that played past midnight, and the constant conversation occurring below us and in the neighboring rooms.
my wife and i never request service to our room as we prefer to not have people in our room. in turn, we ask for the normal replacement of water and towels every other day or so. we had to request this over and over again before we eventually just went downstairs and retrieved it ourselves. when we tried to speak to the hotel about the issues, they advised they didn't have a solution other than moving us to a new room the day before we checked out or providing us free buffet breakfast for our stay. this was priced at $55/person for a cold mediocre continental breakfast. we were staying there for 6 days and our stay cost over $6000. what a disappointment. 5 star hotel? more like 3 star. we stayed at the Marriot in Rome right before this that is considered a 4 star and it was SIGNIFICANTLY better in all avenues.
if you're looking for a 5 star experience, stay away from this property.

Location, location, location in combination with great staff and excellent hotel.
Hotel was clean, staff were very polite, location was great. The breakfast and dining area were excellent. Hotel was under some renovations in June of 2024 however it did not impact the positive experience. Would stay again and highly recommend.

Returned to Florence after 10 years and Stefano immediately recoginzes me and said "Riki, welcome home". For years I traveled to Florence/Firenze for business and only stayed at the Excelsior so when returning with my husband to Florence for vacation it is the only hotel we would stay in. It never disappoints and exceeds expections. Stefano makes you feel royal. His concern for your comfort and that you are enjoying his hotel and city is beyond words. His colleagues Daniele, Eva, Beatrice and rest of team provide outstanding service from front desk, to door people, concierge, restaurant, house keeping. Rooms spacious, location the best in Firenze on the Arno. Highly recommend the Excelsior. Looking forward to our next visit

The hotel is in an excellent location and easily walkable throughout the city center. We also enjoyed the rooftop restaurant for cocktails. Our room was clean, comfortable and very good size, but the bathrooms could use an update as the shower in ours was surprisingly small/narrow. Otherwise, a solid option for a stay in Florence and we'd stay there again! I also wanted to particularly thank Andrea the concierge! He was incredibly helpful in finding us a fantastic place to have cocktails with a view right in front of the Duomo and was able to get us a reservation (quite last minute) at a great restaurant in Florence that was our favorite meal of the trip. Thank you, Andrea!

It was wonderful to return to this stunning hotel, ideally set on the banks of the river Arno, just a 10 minute stroll from the Ponte Vecchio. The hotel is quiet, beautiful and the epitome of 5 star. The beds are sumptuous. We opted for a premium guest room with an Arno view, and felt it was definitely worth the extra cost. My only criticism is that the rooms lack a coffee machine, something that’s quite important to me. Unfortunately the roof top bar was closed on this visit but we have enjoyed that on a previous stay at the hotel. It did however give us the opportunity to try the elegant lobby bar. The gym in the basement has everything you need, and feels reasonably airy for a hotel gym. We would definitely return in the future!
