We spent 3 nights at this wonderful hotel/resort, in a quiet, secluded area a short drive from Valletta. The resort is right at the sea, with an amazing view. From the moment we entered the hotel, we were very impressed with the interior, it was clear that this was a high-end hotel. Everyone who we interacted with was very helpful, eager to help. I would particularly like to praise Victor, the gentleman at the car valet service, who always was there, full of energy, eager to help in retrieving or parking our car. Sandra Aleksic, an Operations Executive provided us with great communications regarding our stay. During check-in, my Lifetime Titanium status was recognized, and we got upgraded to one of the best rooms in the hotel with a large balcony facing the sea. The breakfast buffet was excellent, a wide variety of foods were available catering to every type of guest. We will certainly return!

This hotel is a large and rather impersonal establishment. It has large common areas with nowhere really cozy to sit the design of the hotel is in the courtico style and as such seems to amplify the noise from the pool and children’s area too many of the rooms that overlook the central area. During our visit which was late February the catering opportunities were very limited, primarily apart from the bar area. The only restaurant open was the buffet style family restaurant. So consequently we chose to eat out during our stay. I had originally booked a sea view room which when I arrived was anything but a Seaview room I have included a photograph to illustrate this. This position was rectified the following day but be aware Seaview does not necessarily mean Seaview. The room as you might expect for a mid luxury hotel was comfortable and the facilities first class. I would’ve expected in a five star hotel in room beverages to include a coffee machine, the hotel only provided instant coffee sachets. The soundproofing of the rooms could be better. We were unfortunate enough to have guests in the room directly above ours making considerable noise until at least 2 o’clock in the morning, which was clearly audible from our room. Without exception all the staff that we encountered during our three days stay were extremely pleasant and friendly and genuinely seem to want to make our stay as comfortable as possible.

This was our 3rd trip to Malta but our first to stay at The Westin Dragonara, St. Julian's Bay. Previously just been to the hotel for lunch. The hotel did not disappoint. From the moment we arrived we were made feel very welcome. All the staff - particularly the Lounge Staff- were so courteous, friendly and nothing was too demanding for them. The room - we stayed in a junior suite - was spacious, beautifully decorated. We could not recommend this hotel high enough- a must for all that like being spoilt. We hope to return. Many thanks for a great visit.

We are repeat visitors to the Westin, a beautiful building brought to life by its incredible team. Below is a copy of the email I sent to the team upon departure, so you can see I say the same to them directly as I would post on here: "Despite the challenges leaving the UK on Monday, we didn’t arrive at the hotel until 1130pm but were greeted by the attached cake and message. We are so humbled and so grateful, it was a fantastic surprise. Even with new faces on the Check In Desk, the welcome is always warm and we feel so at home. Whilst the likes of Josef are having some well deserved vacation time, we still managed to meet for a coffee and Tony / Voja we have managed to catch up with and they all create a fantastic “first impression” of the hotel as you arrive. To our incredible and special friend, Fabio – what a legend of a man he is – thank you for everything you have done this week. On behalf of the “guests of the Westin” can we nominate him for MANAGER OF THE YEAR at the staff presentation event on Saturday! He is so deserving and the team down at Breakfast do a wonderful job. Great to see Santos be promoted, to see Suru and her partner married, to catch up with Adrain and Sean Paul, so many names and people but we love and appreciate each one of them and are proud to call them “family”. Jason was a lifesaver, providing some true technical expertise to allow me to watch my beloved Liverpool on Wednesday night - I cannot thank you enough though if you can fix the score next time so we win, that would be perfect 😊 We have been in the Executive Lounge a lot of the week and been looked after superbly. Jeffrey is a star and this week has been wonderfully supported by Kriti and Sabu whilst he has been off, thank you to all of them. The room has been kept immaculate by the housekeeping team, they do a great job and work so hard. Finally, a thank you to Sunny and Lama, great ambassadors and it has been a pleasure talking with them throughout the week. Once again, a week of total relaxation at the Westin where your amazing team are always prepared to go above and beyond – thank you all once again." I cannot speak more highly of the Westin and of the Team - truly special. The weather in January is lovely, warm and sunny most days though it is quite cool at night - so my advise is Tshirt and jeans through the day with a jacket / hoodie for the evening. There is always plenty to do - this time we visited Teatru Manoel, well worth a visit and it is like a step back in time when inside with some fascinating history. Valletta, Sliema, Mosta were our usual places to visit - Valletta is my favourite city on the planet with a magical calm and beauty. For all those wishing to visit the island - please respect the Maltese, they are the lifeblood of the island. There is so much culture and history, so much for you to explore and visit. The concierge team at the hotel will advise and guide you always, they are brilliant people and so helpful. We return in June and cannot wait to see our friends again. Mark and Katy
