Fantastic hotel located on the Waterfront in Cape Town. Beautifully decorated, we stayed two nights before embarking on a cruise. Hotel staff amazing, everyone was so polite and friendly. Room lovely with a great view of the Waterfront. Only visited the restaurant for breakfast but it was fabulous, buffet had a fantastic selection, definitely something to suit all tastes and diets. Walked onto the Waterfront both nights, felt very safe walking on well lit roads, no issues at all. Would recommend this hotel for a visit to this stunning city

This is a big and rather impersonal hotel. There is nothing wrong with that per se, but I just found this place a little more soulless than most large hotels, probably not helped by the foyer, which looks more like an airport check-in area (and the feeling of checking into the room was much the same as that). Room 201 is huge. It's a junior suite and has access to the executive lounge, all of which I had booked. The room's seating area was great and the bed was very comfortable. However, when you book a junior suite, it comes with certain expectations in terms of amenities and cleanliness. However, the shaver socket in the bathroom was broken and a previous guest's packet of medication was under the bed. All pretty sloppy. However, not the worst aspect of the room. At 5 am on our first night's stay, all the TVs came on with their welcoming message. I dislike welcoming messages on TVs anyway, since they rarely make you feel special - it's only a computer program that has automatically put your name onto the screen, which demands no human effort or thought. However, the welcoming message at 5 am was most unwelcome. I reported the issue, and it was sorted out. Breakfast was good. There was an extensive range of options, and some very friendly, helpful and efficient servers.

Spent four nights at this hotel after a months cruise. Located next to the Conference Centre so very much a Business hotel as opposed to a holiday resort. Facilities were very good, restaurant, pools, gym etc. Check in was rather long as there were several hundred people checking in from the same ship. But the suite was large with plenty of storage. Didn’t see the guests after checking in,as everyone was off doing their separate tours, safari,wine lands, table mountain etc. Only a taxi ride or walk to the V&A Shopping Mall for great shopping and restaurants.

Ending a Regent cruise in Cape Town, we had a post-cruise stay of 3 nights in the Westin. Room was great, spacious, comfortable, great bed and views of Table Mountain. Public areas were also comfortable, except for the weird chairs/sofas without back support and we dined well in the restaurant on our first evening. Breakfast offered plenty of choices and generally prompt service. The location is in the Central Business District and many shops up Long Street and within walking distance of the attractive park and museums. Thanks to friends locally, we dined one evening at Obi, a charming Japanese restaurant on Long Street. It's also a 15 minute walk to the V&A Waterfront, a must-visit marina and complex with great shops and restaurants. There is a footbridge behind the Cullinan Hotel (right and left across the road from the hotel) which takes you across some of the busy roads. Check-in was a disaster but only because 700 pax were arriving and a similar number perhaps leaving. Since official check-in 3 pm we had to wait almost 2 hours to be assigned a room. It seems like the hotel had no coherent plan or process to streamline this (eg give a number and wait to be called). This shouldn't be a problem for individual arrivals so I still score our stay "very good". One small piece of advice : avoid the Travelex Exchange Bureau in V&A complex. I stupidly didn't check properly and found they charged a commission of 100 rand and another 100 transaction fee for fees of almost 26 % ! So $ 50 dollars got me 661.66 rand. Same transaction in hotel got me 863 rand. Beware and be careful.

My luggage was to be delivered after our stay at the Westin to our ship. Staff insisted it was delivered. after many calls, I was transferred to voice mail, cut off at least 3 times, and had difficulty understanding calls that cut in and out. My air tags showed the luggage was still at the hotel despite their claims. With the help from the ship, it was located in the hotel and ended up being the last item on board before we sailed. That took 3 hours of my afternoon. Morale of this tale: do Not leave your luggage there. You may never see it again.

Some say that the Westin Cape Town is a generic-looking 5-star hotel that can be found anywhere & everywhere in the world. And also that it sits in an awkward position in town, neither here nor there, next to the highway, and that it is not a very picturesque 15-minute walk to the V & A Waterfront. All of the above are true to some extent. But look past & beyond this, we felt that we had an excellent 4-night stay here after a few days of safari in Sabi Sand. 5 stars all around, from the rooms, to breakfast, service, executive lounge on the top floor, cleanliness, and decor. The rooms are large and more importantly, quietly luxurious & classy. I chose this over many other top-notch hotels either at the waterfront or in Constantia. Many of these in Cape Town are decorated in a 'country style' look. Think Mount Nelson, Table Bay, Cellars Hohenort....all 5-star hotels, but we prefer the more sleek, clean, and modern lines that is the Westin. We were upgraded from the Deluxe room, which is already very spacious, to a Grand Deluxe Family room. As a result, we had a generous sitting area and a walk-in closet, which we appreciated very much! Though it was technically a mountain view room, in reality, it was more of a 'Table Mountain hiding behind a tall building view'. No matter, because we spent all our time outdoors anyway, where the mountains are always in full view anywhere we went. If there were two minor points with the room, to an otherwise perfectly appointed one, it was firstly the shower door. It opens out but there is just no way one can place the bath mat in front of the door because opening it will push the mat away. There was no other area to put it either because the toilet door is right next to the shower. If they were to cut the door higher, this would immediately solve the problem. Secondly, the lighting (which was beautifully thought out in all other areas of the room) in the dressing table area was totally inadequate for one to actually see properly in the mirror. We had breakfast in both the restaurant downstairs and the executive lounge on the top floor. Both excellent, with the executive lounge having an option of cook to order in addition to the buffet. We also used the lounge for some snacks and drinks in the early evening, and even managed to have a light dinner there on our last evening. The lounge afforded a 270 degree view of the waterfront, town and table mountain, so we were able to appreciate sun set there as well. Location - as I mentioned, it is not 'right by the waterfront' nor 'right in town'. A quick and affordable 10-minute Uber ride will bring you to quite a few typical tourist places. We rented a car, so that probably tipped our decision to stay here. Besides, how many a time would one want to visit the waterfront, since many of the attractions are spread all over - Constantia, Cape Peninsula, Hout Bay, all these destinations will require some form of transport out of town. So, we really didn't feel the need to be based right at the waterfront at all. So, if like us, these two points are not a priority during your visit here, I would say that the Westin is one of the best choices in Cape Town, made more worthy by its leaning towards upper mid-range rates compared to the higher ones of Mount Nelson, Cape Grace, and gosh, the Silo Hotel! We couldn't be more happy with our choice!

Looked forward to returning back to the hotel after a long day of touring the city (I still remember the scent of the lobby as you walked into the hotel.. so refreshing). Service at the restaurant did not disappoint! Always proactive and ready to serve you with a smile! Enjoyed the meals at dinner and breakfast thoroughly! All in all, great job to the team! Excellent facilities and services!
