The Springs Resort & Spa at Arenal

Highly recommend this place. Very large. Great options for various hot springs. Love the ones by the river. Very private. Not crowded at all. I love this place and Tabacon. Lots of trees and nature. Food is pretty good, especially breakfast.

My husband and I recently stayed at the Spring Resort & Spa which is the sister hotel of Peace Lodge in Poas. Both are beautiful hotels to stay at. The Spring and Resort & Spa has a spectacular view of the Arenal Volcano with natural hot springs and beautiful stained glass throughout the public areas. Our room is clean and the staff are friendly and very helpful. A special mention about the Trout Bar. It offers a spectacular view of sunset and staffed by a friendly bar crew. They were kind to allow us to bring a complimentary bottle of red received for our wedding anniversary to the bar so we can enjoy the sunset with snacks/light meals and good conversations. Special shout-outs to Daniel Villanca, Rafael (cook), Vista Poas, and Dayra Castillo. We appreciate your service and conversation!

Facilities were amazing as were the food and service. Bayron treated us with white glove service and was super responsive and informative. The room was secluded and quiet and the pools were top notch. We would go back in a heartbeat. Highly recommend!!

This place is big and beautiful, and clean. The staff are all friendly and knowledgeable, all willing to go the extra mile to make your stay wonderful. Nice big room with a great view, couldn't ask for more. We enjoyed the Club Rio area and its activities. They do have a number of free amusements such as putt-putt golf, billiards, darts, and ping pong tables that we enjoyed. The hot springs - so many of them! - were varied and wonderful. The food was even good. But this place is expensive, first for room and then for food and drink. If we ever go back it would be for a major anniversary or something similar.

The Springs was the perfect place to stay in La Fortuna! Although a bit overcast the first two days there we were able to enjoy the beautiful pools, hot springs and swim up bar. The service was wonderful and the food was great. We had a really nice anniversary and birthday dinner at Las Ventanas where they decorated the table with fresh roses. Very nice touch. Loved the towel in the room made to look like a sloth. That was really cute. The last morning there was our favorite as the clouds cleared and we opened our curtains to the most spectacular view of Arenal Volcano. Gorgeous!

Fantastic resort. Exceeded expectations! The resort itself has so much. There is an on-site area about a mile down the path called club Rio. They have great little excursions there. We did a night tour and one day did white water … tubing. It was great. Got some great photos...

There is also a lot of other activities like billiards, a game room, and of course a lot of hot springs. Would definitely stay there again.

We spent one week at the resort and found no need to leave the property, as it offered a wide variety of on-site activities and dining options. Activities: Although we didn’t prebook any Club Rio activities, we were able to sign up for horseback riding and tubing on separate days. We were initially uncertain about our physical readiness, but our concerns were not necessary. The horses were well-trained, and the ride was guided by an experienced rider. Our tubing excursion included about 25 guests and 7 guides who ensured our safety. We had planned to join the Wildlife Tour, but heavy rain that day made it unfeasible. Room: We stayed in Room 329 of the newly constructed Aracari building, which was completed in phases in 2017 (x21 to x26) and 2022 (x27 upwards). The room featured a spacious layout and a large balcony with a direct view of the volcano. Being a fairly new building, the room was clean, modern, and thoughtfully designed. Conveniently, there are USB plugs above the nightstands, so you don’t need to worry about converters. Laundry facilities are available on the main floor with detergent pods if needed. Dining: prices are comparable to high-end restaurants in major U.S. cities, although the quality may not always match that level. Unlike the U.S., all Costa Rican restaurants automatically add a 10% gratuity to your bill, in addition to a 13% tax. However, there is a section where you can leave an additional tip if you feel your server went above and beyond. For room service, add another $8. Getting There: The roads from both airports are winding, so if you’re prone to motion sickness, it’s best to prepare for the drive.
