Somewhere very different to stay, beautifully kept facilities and grounds. We very much enjoyed our stay for 2 weeks in a pool suite. Excellent choice of good quality dining options. Very friendly and helpful staff. Just outside the hotel you’ll find a very good beach, with many local restaurants etc.

We visit Thailand regularly and when in Phuket we usually stay at 3 x 5 star hotels during our 10 night stay in different areas and we have yet to encounter a hotel that we love as much as The Slate therefore we always ensure that our final 4 nights are at this outstanding hotel. Thailand is known as 'The land of Smiles', and although you receive excellent service at most 5 star hotels, The Slate is a cut above. The staff are immaculately dressed, highly professional, and exceptionally friendly - nothing is too much trouble. What we like: The Pearl Bed suites are spacious and superbly maintained with walk-in closet areas and 2 balconies and the whole hotel is spotlessly clean. We love the decor and the ambience - the hotel has a signature floral scent, which is lush. Black Ginger is a wonderfully dramatic dining experience. Rebar is a lovely cocktail bar overlooking the gardens There are 3 pools, 1 large family pool and 2 adult pools. 1 adult pool is more lively (not too lively - just low level music and a swim up bar), the other adult pool is our favourite as it is very very peaceful and serene. In an evening if you fancy something a bit different, then the public beach is accessed via the back entrance of the hotel and here you will find a host of restaurants, bars and (actual) massage places on the beach - it really comes alive at night and it's great to have the option of cheap eats with a beautiful ocean view. If you are looking for a relaxing holiday away from the craziness of most Phuket towns and villages then I wholeheartedly recommend The Slate.

Had a fantastic couples stay at this hotel to celebrate my Fiancees 30th Birthday and stayed for 4 days/Nights. We wanted a 5 star hotel to finish the holiday near the airport and this checked all the boxes. The check in experience was so easy. They provided really refreshing cold drinks and a corsage for my fiancee. We were also provided cold scented towels to stave the heat away and once all the paperwork was done a buggy came to deliver us to the room. A private pool Suite. The room itself was lovely. The bedroom area was triangular in shape with a large walk in wardrobe to the right and a large bathroom with a shower, toilet and his/hers sinks. Outside the room there was a large cushioned seating area, an outdoor bath, a small swimming pool ( you're not going to do laps or lengths but it's a private dip) and 2 loungers. The bed was incredibly comfortable and the staff gave us complimentary water. The air con was quite and didn't catch our throats the way some others do. The products in the shower smelt lovely. The breakfast was tasty and lots of sweet treats available. It is an outdoor sheltered area so bear in mind it can be hot. The pools were quiet and comfortable, with cold drinks and fruit delivered every 15 -20 mins. Didn't see any bed hogging but it was off season . Grounds are well kept. Staff are the friendliest I've ever come across, nothing was too much. Free paddleboards and kayaks are provided too. When it's time to go you get a free shuttle with water to the hotel. Next time I'm in Asia I'll be calling to stay again. The only complaint, but not worth marking down the review for was the private pools wooden windows had some rot and insects but it didn't impact us.

We have ended our 2nd Thailand trip at the The Slate, stayed last year and again this year absolutely amazing hotel we love everything about it, location great across the road from the beach with all food stalls ate on the beach most nights. The hotel is beautiful, staff friendly every single memeber of staff stop to greet you it truely is the land of the smiles. We stayed in the one bedroom Pearl suite near the adult pool great location private garden sunbeds, bath table and chairs and not overlooked. The rooms are immaculate housekeeping service both morning and night. It is the comfiest bed I have ever slept in. We only used adult pool clean chilled, never an issue with sunbeds always got a bed no beds were claimed for hours at a time some people did think they don’t have to place their towels in the basket when leaving the area so just be mindful they may be a towel on the bed but with no one using it, however Ian does an amazing job none stop tidying around the pool topping up your water for you and bringing fruit sticks with a smile. We booked to go in the black ginger which is out of this world you must book to go beautiful food and surroundings well worth the experience. We will definetly will be returning to the Slate it’s a must for us to finish our holiday off to Thailand there, we stayed 4nights after doing 6 in Ao nang and 4 nights phi phi island next time we will be booking for longer.

Our fourth visit to The Slate and it never fails to impress. Although it's quite a large resort, it feels very intimate and peaceful. Pearl Suite rooms overlooking the adult pool are our personal favourite, complete with bath on the balcony. Not overlooked at all and completely peaceful. Separate adult pools add to the relaxing atmosphere and there are plenty of restaurants and bars spread around, so although the hotel was very full it never feels busy. Excellent, friendly staff. Good breakfasts. Happy hours across different locations throughout the afternoon and evening. The location right on Naiyang Beach gives the best of both worlds. Luxury resort hotel or street food and beach bars; all in one place. Highly recommended.

Recently had the pleasure of a 4 night stay at the Slate. The stay was booked because we wanted to end our Thailand trip somewhere near Phuket airport to make the journey home a bit shorter time wise. We couldn’t have made a better choice, everything about the hotel is top class. Rooms are great, food fantastic, staff second to none and facilities spotless - we couldn’t have wanted for anymore. The hotel itself doesn’t have a beach but outside the hotel there is a beach which stretches for miles with sunbeds for hire, restaurants, bars etc. We enjoyed the hotel so much that I have re-organised an upcoming business trip to incorporate a visit to the Slate - something which I will be doing in all visits to Thailand which involve using Phuket airport (the hotel even operates a free pick up and drop off service from / to Phuket airport).

Another wonderful stay at The Slate. We've never returned to any hotel overseas before, but have now visited The Slate 3 times, and each time has been quite simply, sensational. Any holiday in Thailand tends to be lovely, due to the people, culture and food. However, out of about 20 holidays, The Slate is a simply wonderful place. The hotel and facilities are superb, as you'd expect, and the proximity to the lovely beach with all of the food vendors makes the location ideal. But it's the team and their attention to detail that really makes it such a special place. I will mention those individuals that made our stay extra special, but I know for every individual that made our stay great, there were team mates supporting them or delivering the same experience to the other guests. What Claude and William have created with their teams really is something special. Ian, Dif, Choong, Ploy, Jonathan and Chocco were absolute stars, with massive smiles and nothing was too much trouble. It was also great to see Sao and Apple again - the former even going to the Supermarket for us to gift us some favourite local products. It's a real privilege to be able to take holidays overseas, for which I feel very lucky, and the team at the Slate made it feel like an extra special treat for which I am hugely grateful!

This lace is a real oasis. It is set in enormous grounds, 2 fantastic adult pools as well as a family pool. Amazing breakfasts, and the most relaxing hotel you could wish for. The rooms are very well presented, and the staff a lovely. When you exit the back gates you are on the beach at Tai Yang, but from the beach you would not know the hotel ws there. Very private. A great choice and just 10 mins from the airport.

Stayed here for 7 nights in a private pool villa room. The room was beautiful and spacious, however, we didn't use the pool area as it got no sun whatsoever, so it wasn't really practical to sunbathe in privacy or enjoy the space, although we did use it a little to cool down after being at the beach all day. If I booked again I would book one of the other type rooms without a pool as a lot of the balconies looked really spacious and got a lot of sun. The whole complex is beautifully kept and very pretty, the staff work extremely hard to keep everything immaculate and pictures don't really do the place justice, it is so much better in real life. The pool areas were also immaculate, but what spoilt it for us was the closeness of the sunbeds, it just didn't feel private and there was the usual sun-bed hogging early morning, with people just having to have the same sun-bed each day. There are notices regarding reserving sun-beds and leaving them, but this isn't enforced. We only went to the adults pool near us once and spent the rest of our time at the beach. We tried the family pool one day but that was just a little noisy and also the pool is on the shade on the afternoon. The beach is out of the gate and across a small road and is really lovely, we got a sun-bed every time we went, although some people did find it difficult. The vendors keep back a number of beds and when they recognise the previous days customers they find a bed for you. Food and drink is really cheap at the beach and we enjoyed several lunches at our sun-bed and also used some of the beachside restaurants for both lunch and dinner. There are shops, restaurants and food-carts the full length of the beach, so there is always something to eat or drink and there were plenty of massage shops. We ate breakfast in the hotel and had 2 evening meals, the prices were quite reasonable but drinks were expensive. Most places in the hotel seemed really empty on a night, so it was nice and quiet. Breakfast had some good choices and lots of fresh fruit and pastries. We asked for a packed breakfast one day which was reasonable, however, the hotel did get it wrong and only gave us one breakfast instead of two, so we had to share. The staff try their hardest to help and were polite and helpful, a few things got lost in translation once or twice and we didn't get the wake up call we needed for an early trip and a buggy failed to turn up to collect our luggage on time, but these were small niggles which didn't impact us, luckily I used my phone as an alarm and we had plenty of time to get our luggage moved. Overall this was a really pleasant stay, the bed was really comfy and we slept really well. The one thing I did find a bit difficult was the lack of light in the room and other areas in the hotel, whilst the decor is amazing, its quite dark, our room was very dark and lacked natural light due to the shaded outdoor area, even with the lights on, you cant really see well in the mirrors, the bars, restaurants and toilets in public areas are also very dark.

The resort: it feels so secluded and with all of the established trees and setting, it cleverly makes the resort more private so that you don’t see other rooms etc. Good variety of restaurants and pools. Liked having two adults only pools to relax at. The swim up bar was our favourite. The location: one step out of the private gate and you are on a road with street food, small shops and restaurants, and easy access to the beach. I enjoyed trying the local food and saved money on drinks and snacks. It is so close to the airport (10 mins). We took a taxi to Phuket Old Town one evening which was worth it. It took about an hour, but taxis are cheap. The room: not certain what type of room we booked or received, but it had a bath on the patio as well as a comfy large lounge chair big enough for two to lay back and read in the shade or share a drink in the evening. We got a free upgrade by booking directly rather than through an agency. Restaurants: breakfast at Tin Mine is a buffet with lots of choice and omelette/egg bar. Black Ginger was a very good treat. We had the basic set menu so that we could try a variety of dishes we wouldn’t normally order. The pool bar food was good quality too. Even just basic fried rice dish was fresh and tasty. We took a cooking class at the resort (Moo Moo’s kitchen) and Mam was our chef. Small class and very good fun, definitely recommend if you like cooking. Service: everybody is so friendly and even the people sweeping leaves in the morning by would stop to say ‘sawadeeka’ (sp?) and when at the pool they constantly fill your water glasses.

We had a wonderful stay at The Slate to celebrate our honeymoon From arrival - when we had the best check in experience of our lives - to departure, all the staff were welcoming, friendly, helpful and kind. We agreed we'd never stayed anywhere where everyone was so fantastic. All the food we had was delicious and not too overpriced for a hotel. Our bill was quite expensive at the end but we did eat in a lot, have room service, and experience both a fantastic experience at the Spa, and a Cooking Class in Moo's Kitchen (which we would highly recommend). Our room had a private pool, which we were grateful for as it was shady and we are pale / not sunbathers, but if you enjoy sunbathing it might not be for you. All the pools were great, but we funnily enough preferred the family pool as it was the biggest and had more energy. While not beachfront, it is very close to the beach and we enjoyed exploring the local area where you can get very cheap food, drinks and massages, and enjoy watching the sunset on the horizon. It's incredible how you don't notice the proximity to the airport at all, and while not the hub of Phuket it did provide a great base for exploring other places (we could visit the Phi Phi Islands and Phang Nga Bay in a day). We would definitely recommend the hotel to anyone who was thinking about going, and would love to return in the future. Thank you very much, Slate team!

We stayed 7 nights at the Slate and had a pearl suite at the upper floor close to the beach and village. This was a great location and we really appreciated that the hotel fullfilled our room wishes. Below please find the pros and cons as we see the hotel. Pros - Very smooth check in with nice and clean rooms - Cool hotel design and art - In general good service - 2 Separate pools for adults - Relatively cheap hotel for a 5 star hotel Cons - No direct beach access - you have to cross the road in the village outside. And all sunbeds were reserved so you bring your towel and find a place in the shade, if you have luck.. We mostly had lunch and dinner at the beach as it was as good or better and significant cheaper than in the hotel. The beach and water is ok, but there are a lot of people. - We were very disappointed by the food at the Ginger restaurant - it is really overrated and not worth the money. The food and service is better at the Rivet. - It is a very busy breakfast service as at many other large hotels All in all the Slate provides good value for money but if you expect beach vacation with direct access to the beach and sunbeds this is not the place for you. However we always found sunbeds available by the pool.

First, a heartfelt Thank You to all the staff and management at The Slate for making our 16-day holiday stay with you truly amazing and unforgettable!! The spacious resort lay-out makes you feel very comfortable even if there are many guests. You may find the pool chairs a little close in pool areas, but nothing to really to worry about as, worst case, you just move to one of the other pools or go to the beach just across the street. The staff is extremely service-minded and appears well trained to keep customers in focus with a genuine smile, whether it’s at the front desk, in the bars, at the restaurants, the gym or in the gardens. Truly a pleasure every morning to greeted by people like Chong or Tan at the breakfast buffet. We visited the restaurants, Black Ginger, Rivet, Tin Mine and the Shore Thing, and with one small caveat, we experienced food, service and exterior/interior design of the highest class. Our overall impression is a very well managed resort with a highly service minded team. We will happily return and are already in progress of planning our next stay at The Slate. A little tip: If you are a golfer, The Blue Canyon Golf Club, a nearby 36-hole golf course, is just 10 minutes away, and you just need to bring your shoes and let Foxy at phuketgolfclubhire.com handle all the rest.

Stayed for four nights. The hotel has some interesting design/decor features that make an immediate positive impact on arrival. It is a large property with lots of open green spaces which is quite relaxing. Rooms are clean comfortable and modern. Staff are friendly and professional. Their signature Black Ginger restaurant is outstanding. But I had a few niggles that reduced my overall rating. It has three swimming pools but the loungers are pretty close together and were always at maximum capacity. One of the pools had a swim up bar but no waiter service. As it's a large resort, it needs better signage to help guests find their way around. At night the pathway lighting isn't bright enough, particularly as there are a lot of steps and ramps around. Overall though I very much enjoyed my stay.

From beginning to end the Slate was the most wonderful hotel experience we have ever had. We were met at the airport by a swish car with scented cold flannels and bottles of water and the hotel is only 10mins away! Our room wasn’t ready, as we arrived very early in the morning but the hotel stored our bags, invited us to get changed and use all the facilities. We spent the morning by one of the 2 adult pools and we were treated to fresh towels and lots of fresh (lightly infused) water. It was an amazing start! The design of the hotel is striking and unique and one can’t fail to be impressed. The rooms (we had a Pearl Bed Suite) are absolutely stunning, with an outdoor bathtub and a large very private balcony overlooking lush exotic vegetation with exotic birds and animals so that you feel immersed in a tropical paradise. Breakfast was amazing with everything you could ever wish for - from a spread of Asian, continental and cooked breakfast, to exotic fruits, juices and health foods. Be sure to ask at the coffee bar for a chilled Thai tea - they are delicious! There are several happy hours at the different bars so whilst cocktails are a little expensive, you can always make it more affordable by taking advantage of the different timings at the different bars. The pools are all stunning and even down to the incredibly appointed outdoor toilets by Adult Pool 2! There are plenty of sunbeds at each pool, so even in peak season, you can find somewhere to relax. The grounds are huge and immaculately kept, huge shout out to the gardeners who seemed to be working all day and were always so friendly and respectful. The hotel is located in a charming beach village, with a great night time atmosphere and with lots of affordable bars and restaurants serving amazing food and cocktails. For two of us it cost 40GBP for several cocktails, plus beers, starters and a side dish! The beach itself is stunning. The sea was warm and calm (while we were there) with lots of space in the water and on the sand to make the most of the stunning setting. What elevates this hotel even further is the amazing staff. A very special mention must go to Fridah at reception, who was so sweet, caring and helpful when we wanted to extend our stay and also when we lost our only bank card - they put the whole team on alert and they found it had been dropped in the grounds and they kept it safe until we returned. Maprang from housekeeping was also amazing making sure we had everything we needed. She was always smiley and helpful Aom at breakfast was also very helpful, sweet and smiling. We should also say that the staff overall were superb and very attentive without being intrusive. The key to an amazing 5-star experience is a brilliant hotel and beautifully designed and staff who make you feel like you are the only guests that matter to them! We are already planning our return.

Wonderful trip celebrating my upcoming 50th birthday. The hotel is spectacular! Spotlessly clean and the staff are so helpful and accommodating. Shout out to Ian on the swim up pool and Aom at breakfast for making my holiday so enjoyable. Can’t wait to book my returning trip.
