A simply elegant and friendly hotel...top drawer in every respect!
“One of the loveliest hotels we have ever stayed at. I love the beds, the quiet elegance entire building and location. Your staff is professional and friendly, yet warm and welcoming. The location is walkable to many delicious eateries and Grafton Road. Just simply the best! Thank you!.”
From the moment we were met from the taxi, the service was impeccable. We were also given a bottle of wine for our wedding anniversary which was a wonderful touch. The team at the spa were very professional as well. Professional team, beautiful surroundings and fantastic service.

We arrived for our weekend in the pouring rain. As soon as our car pulled up outside the hotel we received a wonderful welcome from the doorman and bell staff. It should not be underestimated what a good first impression that made. we walked thought the beautiful public areas that ooze with history to the front desk where again the welcome was warm and genuine. The room was not ready but we were offered bag storage and told to come back later. Too be fair it was only 11am and the check in time is 3pm so we completely understood. We returned at about 3 and our room was ready with the key handed over again with warmth and a friendly attitude. Our Bonvoy status was recognised and we appreciated the location of a nice room. The room was lovely, old world charm mixed with modern features and a covert white marble bathroom. Clean and cozy with a massive balcony (sadly not useable because of the awful weather!). The time spent in the room was very comfortable. Breakfast was in an event room as the Saddle Room restaurant was closed for refurbishment. They had done a good job of making the room attractive and the buffet was good. Service again was excellent and the attention to detail throughout our stay was very obvious. Location was good, and we walked everywhere from the hotel. The park opposite was a lovely respite from the busy city. We were so impressed by all the staff, everyone was so welcoming and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

“I am currently acting in a play in Dublin, and my wife came over from London to see me. We had a wonderful two days with you as I escaped from my 'digs' and revelled in the Shelbourne's luxury. Last time I was here was 45 years ago with my parents as a 10 year old! Wonderful staff, professional and friendly. I hope I have another job in Dublin that will bring me back to you!”

We would love to stay again. The Shelbourne has been our favourite stay at any hotel that we've been to. Even taking away the fantastic location, beautiful and clean facilities, you're still left with such amazing team members who have great recommendations.”

This was without a doubt the best hotel experience. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The room was immaculate and quiet. The food and drinks were excellent. The location was perfect for exploring Dublin being within walking distance to museums, live music, and dining. I would live in this hotel if it was an option. One tip for those not in the known to turn on the lights for the room you have to insert a keycard by the door, it’s a sensible idea since it insures that lights are turned off when you leave, but we didn’t know about this and spent a good 10 minutes feeling like there was something we weren’t getting before we figured it out.

A wonderful hotel with lovely and very helpful staff
A wonderful hotel with lovely and very helpful staff. The spa and relaxation room are gorgeous. Both the Horseshoe and the 1824 Bar offer an extremely relaxing atmosphere. We stayed in a spacious and cosy Heritage Parkview room with stunning views of St. Stephen's Green. An absolute recommendation!!

My wife and I had an incredible stay at The Shelbourne! This was our first time visiting Ireland and we are so happy we stayed at The Shelbourne. We enjoyed every part of our weeklong stay but most of all the incredible service. Every staff member was friendly and helpful. The beautiful hotel is historic but also has modern amenities. The daily Irish breakfast was fantastic and a great way to start every day. The Afternoon Tea was also fantastic. The Heritage Parkview Room was spacious and provided an incredible view of St. Stephen's Green. If you get a chance, try and visit the Constitution Room at the hotel. Ireland's first Constitution was drafted in that room. The original tables and chairs from that time are still there. A very nice member of the staff let me take a look around the room.

We stayed here for a long weekend in March, three nights in total. I booked via the app and always reserve the room I want, so we had a suite to enjoy. Ahead of check in I asked my Bonvoy ambassador to coordinate a Y24 but she said it wasn’t available, a few days before check in and again the morning we landed from the US I messaged via the app to let the front desk know our arrival time. One tip I’ll share is not to waste time using the app for this hotel. There’s an automated response to each message as nobody bothers to read or reply to them. The service at the front desk isn’t much better, young and inexperienced foreign students who mutter incomprehensibly and have to run to a back office for ten minutes each time before making any decision or providing a room. The check in time is supposed to be 3pm, our room wasn’t ready at 3pm and we were told to come back at 4. At 4pm our room still wasn’t ready and we were told it could be another few hours. At this point I asked to speak to a manger and within minutes we had the key to our suite. My guess is that it was available when we arrived at noon but given the complete lack of engagement, experience and care from the staff nobody was going to figure this out. The service at the restaurant is similar with a bunch of untrained staff standing around while guests wait for service. The food is ok but it’s the same thing every day and could use some variety. It was only on the Sunday as we were leaving that the host Shane made an effort to show us around the buffet and offerings and ensure that a waiter had been assigned to our table. The bars are noisy but fun with a mixed service level overall. Our suite was big and comfortable, the windows were clean and the view of the park was wonderful but the room itself was pretty dark. There’s only one bathroom with no WC as is the standard in most suites. We appreciated twice daily housekeeping and the AC worked very well. While this is a Marriott hotel, there is no status recognition from the staff whatsoever. Although to be honest there is so little engagement and hospitality from the staff altogether there’s no way this can be considered a five star experience. Literally every opportunity they have to connect with guests is missed as if they’re trying to avoid us. I followed up by sharing my experience with the Front desk manager a week ago and she didn’t even acknowledge my email or reply! We have stated at the nearby Merrion hotel many times and always recommend it to friends who are visiting my home town. Next time we’ll be staying there too, the rooms are big and bright and the Cellar bar and restaurant are excellent.

Had a lovely stay over St Patrick's weekend at the iconic Shelbourne. However more actual attention to customers rather than lip service is required. At breakfast we were welcomed by at least six staff members; however I had to ask for my coffee and tea. When it arrived it was served from a pot served by a staff member. No one offered a refill, which had to be asked for. I would have thought that a Five Star hotel might have offered my own coffee pot.

We had a wonderful stay at the Shelbourne. The property was Gorgeous, they had a very welcoming and attentive staff, and wonderful beds! We had just arrived so we had to decline turn down service as we were in bed quite early!! We also had a pleasant time at the 1824 bar. Highly encourage you to stay. It’s near many things and tours, etc. However it is on the quiet side so, you’ll have a restful night!
