Exemplary motel. Great location, near the centre. Easy to walk to centre or drive if preferred. Well equipped kitchenette with dishwasher, convenient guest laundry. Room spacious and furniture very clean, new. Bed comfortable. Parking right outside.

My wife and I spent two nights at The Sails. It was excellent. We were warmly greeted by the hosts, who also arranged for us to get a cab for dinner the first night. They also can provide breakfast on request, the first of which they delivered early as we had to head off to Abel Tasman for a kayaking adventure. They also provided helpful dinner recommendations for our second night. The room was lovely and well-equipped. At first we thought it might be noisy as it's on a busy street, but that was not a factor. They're also nicely located, just a fifteen minute easy walk to downtown. We had just minor quibbles. Parking is tight, but we've discovered that's typical for NZ accommodations. Also, it would have been helpful to have had paper towels or a dish towel in the kitchen area. Nonetheless, it was a wonderful place to stay.

We received a lovely warm welcome and Heather gave us lots of tips for things to do in the area. Room 105 was lovely, very clean and spacious. It had a wide variety of teas and coffees and everything one needed for a pleasant stay. Sails is a very short walk into town and there were plenty of car parking spaces. We did our washing at $4 each for the washer and dryer. My only constructive notes are that we had a wonderful spa bath but the towels were only bath towels (not bath sheets) and were not very luxurious. The weather was bad when we were there so we couldn’t eat breakfast outside and there wasn’t anywhere to eat at a table or the bench inside so we had to balance our cereal bowls on our knee. There was some traffic noise from the road next to our room especially early in the morning. Having said that I would recommend Sails in the future.

Wonderful place to stay.. So lovely ,clean and comfortable. The hosts are perfect, friendly and helpful.. A washing machine is available which was extremely helpful for a couple travelling NZ. I would thoroughly recommend this place to anyone..

Loved the pillows and bed. Fully equipped little studio with a little stove, dishwasher, fridge, microwave and all the utensils. Clean and fresh looking. Washer and dryer on site. Laundry soap provided. The managers Heather and Mike were so friendly and welcoming. Walking distance to town center and bus stop.

We had such a lovely stay at the Sails Nelson. A great welcome by the motel owner. A comfortable, spacious and well planned room close to town. A reasonable and adequate breakfast in the room. Good parking. Definitely a ‘come back’ if ever in Nelson again.

We had a wonderful stay at The Sails! Dave and Cherie who run the place are wonderful people who sought to make out stay as enjoyable as possible. The room was great; we enjoyed the spa tub and the wide-screen TV. We would definitely stay at The Sails again!

This apartment is modern and well furnished. It comprises a roomy sitting-room/well equipped kitchen and separate shower-room. There is also on site parking. it fulfils all that one needs for a short stay. Although slightly outside the centre of Nelson it is within easy reach of shops and restaurants.

This well appointed property has everything you need for a few days exploring the region. Big comfy bed, well provisioned bathroom and kitchen and easy parking. Very nice managers too. Close to the centre of town and just off main connecting roads to the region. We enjoyed the Saturday town market and the nearby sights and national park. Lots of art and craft in this region, and great wineries.

Went all around the South Island and stayed at some beautiful accommodation. This place was the best we stayed in. Beds are the best I have ever slept in. Pillows were awesome. Extremely clean and such friendly people.Well done for making our stay comfortable

We stayed 2 nights at The Sails in a Studio suite and it was superb. The rooms were immaculate and modern. Very quiet. There was a full sized kitchen with a Nespresso machine, plunger coffee and a variety of teas. There was also a dishwasher ,stove and cooking utensils. The bed was very comfy. Shower pressure was fabulous. We had a balcony which captured all day sun. The manager, Cherie was very friendly and helpful. We had both the continental breakfast and pancakes which were delicious. Close 5-10 minute walk into town. Would highly recommend this accomodation and we look forward to staying again in the future.

Beautiful contemporary design, SPOTLESSLY clean (WOW-zahs) and the COMFIEST bed with crisp white sheets (oh-my-goodness - we're n heaven) and so many details thought through (built-in luggage shelf; fancy teas, adorable teapot, lovely hand and body soaps)....

One of the nicest places we stayed in our 1-month trip around NZ. Beautiful contemporary design, SPOTLESSLY clean (WOW-zahs) and the COMFIEST bed with crisp white sheets (oh-my-goodness - we're n heaven) and so many details thought through (built-in luggage shelf; fancy teas, adorable teapot, lovely hand and body soaps). Heather was delightful and engaging, offering valuable tips, e.g. to make a pitstop at Mapua Wharf - we were tickled what a lovely discovery it was! Thank you for the memorable stay.

Very modern accomodation, clean and comfortable. The hosts are super friendly and make sure the place is looked after. Having a safe and good facilities is important. IWe enjoyed sitting outside having a coffee and watching the world go by. We would stay here again

Really nice property with free private parking space Always a plus. Rooms are spacious, well equipped, kitchen And modern. Bathroom large and modern. Great bedding. Check-in check out was a breeze. Laundry service on site at a cost. 5 min walk to the downtown core. I recommend this property

Cherie and all the staff were so welcoming, with nothing too much trouble. The room was spotless and so well equipped; drinking coffee outside in the morning was a delight! Beach towels provided, a laundry for guests and plenty of local knowledge. We would love to have stayed longer.

Good big room: good facilities/ comfy bed/ bathroom. Laundry worked well. Easy stroll into town: easy parking on site. Try the public swimming pool: walk into town turn left on the river path and in 5 mins you come to it: early morning lane swim.
