As I sit here in the hotel on my last night having been here for three days…..I try to conjure up words that describe my experience. The best three words I came up with was WOW WOW WOW As you enter the hotel you just know your in for a fabulous experience from the greeting of the front door staff to checkin, and the personal welcome from Kami of guest relations things surely couldn’t get any better. Our room was on the 30th floor and with fresh fruit, chocolates and a welcome drink you know you’ve made the right choice. The room is stunning with a king size bed and linen of the highest quality (and surprised monogram pillow cases - the height of luxury) is the view the best in Bangkok, I think you would struggle to find one better……service of the room was second to none and if you concerned about hotel security take it from me you should have no concerns - one day I went out and forget to close my safe, on return I was greeted by the duty manager who explained that its hotel policy that the room attendants notify management straight away and a manager then attends the room to secure the safe and content - a true credit to the staff & management - Thank you We indulged in Afternoon Tea 10/10 - top marks to the new Pastry Chef and Executive Chef who introduced themselves at the end of service, once again it’s the small things that make The Peninsula Hotel stand out from the numerous hotels to choose from The dinner buffet has to be one of the best I’ve ever had the pleasure of, you name it they have once again a huge thank you to the staff who just go out of there way to ensure you have the perfect dining experience So in summary the three words that describe our stay remain WOW WOW WOW you will not be disappointed

The Peninsula is a blissful oasis on the river providing a great escape from the city. I agree totally with the all the very positive reviews. It is more than a 5 star and although expensive we found it very deserving of all the accolades. We were there for my birthday and the hotel surprised me with a delicious chocolate cake. The Valentines Day dinner at the River Terrace Cafe was superb in every way - food, service, decor and ambience. If I have any criticism at all it is only related to the decor in the rooms which are very formal and well appointed. We had a great view of the river from our room on the 17th floor but the only two artworks on the wall were very dull and uninteresting. I think the rooms could be enhanced with some new Thai inspired art work that would create warmth and inspiration to an otherwise incredible space. I really appreciated all the beautiful flowers and decor throughout the hotel as well as the pool where we spent a couple of days. The Peninsula boats are the most attractive and provide great service to IconSiam mall nearby. Thank you to all the staff for making our visit so special.

I have travelled over my 60 years on this planet and stayed at some beautiful hotels, however this one must be in my top 3. Everything from stepping out of my transfer to leaving at the end was outstanding. The staff, the service, the food was exceptional The only downside was they do take a £500 deposit off your credit card and not block it like they said at check in and it does take 14 days for them to give it back, which is quite unacceptable for such a hotel

Peninsula is not the same anymore. The hotel is in definite need of a massive upgrade. The rooms are outdated, furniture old & scratched, we had so many technical issues. Even the lifts are an adventure on their own. Tendency not to open, smell of industrial oil, the hotel needs an upgrade. Breakfast becomes extremely repetitive after 2 days and if you choose the buffet dinner on more than 1 night, a lot of repetition. Staff seem very selective in who they treat with a Peninsula vibe versus whom they seem to HAVE TO attend to. Something I have never seen in Bangkok. Was not at all pleasant. If you dont "look the part" you may just be overlooked in totality. Management must look into this. Positives were the Thiptara restaurant, room staff & proximity to Icon Siam.

The Peninsula Hotel Bangkok remains a standout property with its fabulous location on the river and beautifully maintained grounds. However, the property is showing its age and could benefit from some updates. We first stayed here the year it opened (1998) and have returned several times since, though this was our first visit in a few years. Back then, the technology in the rooms was cutting-edge, but now features like a TV built into the bathtub and dark wood decor feel dated. For our 40th wedding anniversary, we booked a king-sized deluxe room. We were welcomed with a lovely spread of fruit, champagne, and a delightful celebratory cake—a thoughtful touch. However, we were surprised to be assigned a room with two double beds. The check-in agent noted that our reservation was for a king bed but mentioned something about a note about a preference for two beds ? ( I visited the hotel once with a friend ages ago and we requested separate beds- maybe that was in the system?) She offered to change our room, but we decided to stay put. It was odd and a bit of a hiccup on an otherwise pleasant welcome. There were a couple of minor issues during our stay: one evening, the air conditioning stopped working, and a technician had to come up to fix it. The breakfast buffet was delicious with a wide selection, but service was inconsistent, especially when it came to getting coffee. The spa experience was also a bit disappointing. Upon arrival, I was informed that the sauna and whirlpools were out of service. While I understand maintenance happens, it’s a key part of the spa experience. The Thai massage was fine, but the setup was unusual—the bed was on the floor without a face cradle, which made it uncomfortable to lie on my stomach. On a brighter note, dinner at the Thai restaurant, Thiptara, was fantastic. The food and service were both top-notch and a highlight of our stay. Despite some areas that could use attention, the Peninsula still offers excellent hospitality and charm. With some updates to the rooms and more consistent service, it could easily reclaim its five-star glory.

We spent 5 nights at the Peninsula Bangkok and were extremely impressed by the impeccable service at this hotel. From our arrival to departure, we felt like the staff at this hotel over exceeded all our expectations. We purchased a package that included transfers, some meals, spa treatments and discounts for some services which gave us the opportunity to use quite a few of the services offered. While the rooms are a bit dated, the river views and the property aesthetics made for a beautiful stay. The airport and boat transfers, food and beverage, laundry, spa, and housekeeping were perfect. As a somewhat “hotel snob”, l can recommend staying at this hotel and thank The Peninsula Bangkok for a wonderful end to our trip to Thailand.

This time I booked the Grand Deluxe Suite at Peninsula Bangkok for celebrating Christmas with my girlfriend. First of all, I rarely post bad reviews online because most of my trips are wonderful but this time is literally the worst hotel experience ever in my life. I have always been a “Peninsula fan” and had been to many Peninsula Hotels in the world, and twice in Peninsula Bangkok before. But this time is definitely the worst experience ever which ruins my Christmas mood. From the beginning of checking in, I was upset by the receptionist by asking me what time would I check out. I assumed that might be a later check-out time around 1pm instead of 12pm which I’m not quite sure. But it turns out the latest checkout time is still 12pm as usual because they’re busy during Christmas season. Sure, before 12pm check-out is totally fine with me because it’s the regular time to check out but what’s the point of asking me in the first place? Want me to leave as early as possible? I’m not sure about that. This receptionist also didn’t introduce any hotel facilities to me throughout the whole check-in process which is very unprofessional to me. Furthermore, she asked me for deposit. I explained to her that I don’t use a credit card, I can pay by debit card. She insisted that have to be in either cash or credit card, ask me to go 2nd floor to withdraw cash. Ok fine, I couldn’t even get my room keycard before handing her the cash. By the way, the room charge was already paid completely upfront before check-in. The very next morning when I finished my breakfast and got back to the room around 9.45am, I can’t open the door with my keycard, have to walk down to Lobby to replace it. And with the replacement keycards, one of them still failed to unlock the door, only one keycard is working. Around 11am, the front desk starts calling me to rush me to pay for the last night dinner bill, rushing me to check out so desperately? Can’t you wait till checking out and then show me the bills? Just like any other hotels do? And for the check-out, they let me wait for more than 30 mins which really wasted my time. It turns out it’s their fault to mistakenly calculate the bill. All I get was a simple “sorry for your inconvenience caused”. And FYI, I was really polite and nice to the staff all the time, no quarrels at all. The reason for writing this review is that I don’t feel respected at all. I paid for a horrible experience. Besides that, the general facilities are fine, the other staff are friendly. The room decoration is a little outdated, all the switch buttons are not very sensitive and have scratches here and there which is understandable due to it’s last refurbishment was done in 2013. To be honest, with the price paid ($1300 per night) for this suite which is 3 times more expensive than other rooms, I do expect more, especially during Christmas time. However it turns out you pay for the most expensive price to get the just average experience. Maybe it’s my fault to put too much expectations on Peninsula Hotel? Lastly, personal advice for those who still want to experience Peninsula Hotel, I think the regular rooms are good enough. That’s the best they can provide, no need to pay for extra. Personally, I will never choose Peninsula again. There are plenty more better options for this same price.

Probably the best hotel on the river. I have no idea why the Peninsula doesn’t score more highly on Tripadvisor, totally baffling. The rooms are sumptuous, colonial in style, so might not suit all, however totally modern and spotless. All the staff cannot do enough for you, we were made to feel like royalty. River views are phenomenal and we have yet to have a bad meal here. If like me you’re spending hours debating which Bangkok hotel to stay in, please just book the Peninsula, you really won’t regret it and will have the best time ever. I would never consider any other Bangkok hotel. We have been totally spoilt with our stay here.

An amazing experience. Such a wonderful hotel. Yes it’s pricey and could do with a little refurb in places but the staff are very friendly and professional. The breakfast options are vast. You could feast from open til close and probably still not eaten every combination of plates. Asian, continental, a full English, roasted meat, fruits and of course lovely coffee. The pool area is great. Lots of loungers and some sheltered pagodas. Pool isn’t the biggest for such a large hotel but is still really nice. I would like to come back here again (cash flow permitting 😉) and experience this relative luxury all over again.

Upon arriving at Suvarnabhumi Airport it is always much appreciated that the team from the Peninsula are on duty to make the end of one’s journey so comfortable. All of them are professional and caring. Arrival at the hotel as a returning guest, is also well managed & the welcome very “Thai like”. Having stayed many times the management know our wishes & requirements, we are never disappointed. The level of service is exceptional, our “likes & dislikes” well noted. The attention to detail is “par excellence”. Not to mention the fabulous buffet breakfast would be doing a disservice to the F&B, the quality & selection of various cuisines is amazing. With the new management team just in place at the hotel, the future will be challenging but given the determination & desire to maintain the traditions of Thai hospitality I feel sure that given the time & of course the funds, success will be for coming. We look forward to returning next year to our favourite hotel in Bangkok.

Can only echo so many reviews on here; quite the best hotel we have ever stayed at and I am comparing with Raffles (SG), the Oriental Bangkok, Mandarin Singapore etc. - I could go on but in our quarter century of far eastern holidays the Peninsula stands out above all others. The staff are superb, the accommodation fabulous and beautifully maintained, the pool area so tranquil - the quiet area being a feature that we really value and something other properties would do well to emulate - and the location unique; to while away a sunny day in a pool cabana watching the ever changing fascination of the river traffic is bliss indeed. Can't wait to return!

It is an old establishment but very well maintained and everything functions well. F&B quality including breakfast was excellent as well. If i have to nitpick, an ironing board / iron should be permanently placed in the room instead of upon request and will be good to install power points at the bedside, during its next upgrading exercise.
