We stay here every time we're in Mazatlan. This year the pool area has been demolished and a new sea wall and pool are being quickly built. The adjacent property north of the Palms has a small pool for use while construction is under way. The restaurant does a huge business now - prices are reasonable too. Rooms are as they always are - utilitarian, clean, and the wifi is good. Air conditioning is marginal, thermostats only allow for slight cooling. Coming from the frozen north I like a cool room to sleep in.

We've been staying here since this resort was a Holiday Inn 20 plus years ago. This was our first time back since 2019 and the resort is under new management. First impression was the resort was busy - although much of the crowds in the lobby were here for functions or the restaurant. The tennis court was gone - but I never saw it used. One other noticeable change was the complete absence of guests from the US or Canada - that wasn't a problem; we came to Mexico not to hang out with others from the US or Canada. The air conditioners worked better than previous visits, water pressure was good. Our last visit here in 2019 featured loud parties, drunk high school students, and the frequent smell of pot. We stayed here for a week and there was none of that. Wait staff at the pool never asked if we wanted anything to drink or eat. Two young women waitresses? walked around as if joined at the hip - never taking or bringing orders to others. Security was almost always present around the pool - I spoke to one who explained what he was looking for - keeping order. It was all good. The rooms are small. When I sat at the desk at my laptop my wife could barely squeeze by (and she's not a large woman). Still no room refrigerators but there was coffee and bottled water replacements every day - previously only the first night's water and coffee was provided. Ice machines were gone; a small amount could be found at the bar. The washer and dryer were gone too. Finally, all the staff was new. Over the years we had gotten to know some of the previous staff and it always nice seeing them again; many worked there for years.

My husband and I stayed here for 1 week. Here are the things we would like to point out about this hotel. 1) the pools is cold and not heated! Also pool opens at 8 am yet you can’t get a towel until 9am! When you do get a towel don’t even think about asking for an extra one! They have this Rolodex where they keep the number of towels you are allowed 2) if you are laying by pool or beach & think a wait staff will come & take your drink order you better think again! Anytime you want a drink you need to walk over to restaurant & ask for it yourself. You would think they would come & check on you occasionally no way!! 3) the walls are paper thin. One night a drunk was pounding on door so hard he was going to break door down around 2 am. I kept calling front desk & nobody answered. 4) the staff everywhere seems like they don’t even want to be here. They are not friendly at all. We have stayed all over Mexico & staff always goes out of their way for you well not here!! 5) the beds are horrible!!!!!! They feel like your sleeping on the floor! We finally had to call & see what options we had & they sent a topper that didn’t even fit the bad & was all stained. We were at the point that we would take anything. It helped just a bit but the topper was so hard too. We would never stay here again! We only give it 2 stars due to location & beach is very nice by the hotel.

We’ve been coming to Mazatlán for 12 years and always stayed here. We found out that there were new owners and decided to book this year here as well. They did some maintenance improvements, but apparently they let some of their best staff go. Happy hour stopped a year or so ago. The place is still dated, but it’s clean and comfortable. You get what you pay for. Don’t expect any extras here.

Southbound for Etzatlan, stayed 1 night in Mazatlan (first time) - wonderful find, travelocity special $73USD 5th floor, sea view, right on beach, 2 lounges, 2 restaurants, beautiful facility - crashing surf, pelicans, warm & breezy - will book again for our northbound leg and stay 2 days, highly recommend
