Our first time at this hotel. Weather was a little cooler than expected, Room, beach & food service good. Shout outs to Edwin of Pergola & Paul Salas of the pool area. All staff were very helpful & friendly. All day most days there have been two very loud brass bands on the beach in front which we found annoying after awhile. Also, don't like the hidden extra service charge of $15USD / Day not included with our All Inclusive booking through WestJet. Happy to say the pool bar opens at 10am, & lounge chairs generally available. Food variety & quality is good.

Lupita Soto was the sweetest and kindest in teaching us how to do crafts, and she is also very attentive. In Aquaerobics, she is very energetic and recommended several places for us to visit. Everything is beautiful and a perfect vacation to enjoy by the beach.

We love it here at el cid castilla. We have been coming here for 20 years now. We have always felt very welcome and the staff is extremely accommodating. The entire resort is very clean. We feel very safe here and have recommended to many people.

The food service staff rate well as they are sufficient in numbers and are proficient and attentive. Unfortunately the food quality is mediocre at best, the selection limited, some condiments kept hidden (syrup/jams), and the entertainment volume during evening meal borderline unbearable. The management rates a ZERO for its all inclusive offering. Extra charge for coffee packet used in rooms, extra charge for bottled water in rooms, one restaurant not included - you get bill at end of meal, one restaurant closed entirely, sister hotel Granada, closed entirely, US$15 per night per room resort fee, extra charges for certain drink requests. Really? Management, are you intentionally trying to aggravate your guests? It's working! NOISE everywhere: Mariachi relentless and aggressively loud from noon till five every day, hawkers pass on beach every 45 seconds, loud karaoke in only bar every night except one, and deafening low end talent during evening meal. Everything management couldn't screw up was very enjoyable - sun, sand, blue sky, and ocean.

My partner and I were there january 26 to Feb. 2nd. Our initial stay was supposed to be the el cid granada, but on our arrival we were moved to the el cid Castilla. Due to renovation we got moved to the Castilla, which was totally ok with us. They gave us a beautiful room facing the ocean. The staff there was amazing and super friendly, rooms always clean . The food at the buffet was plenty of choices and very good aswell. Nightly shows were good too. Overall for being our first time in mazatlan we were really happy, the weather unfortunately was a little colder as we were hoping. Trips we booked a quad trip into the mountains that included some kayaks and I would definitely recommend it. Overall we were happy with everything and would return to mazatlan and the el cid hotels. One great thing is there's a bus that takes you to the sister hotels so you can use their facilities. Just keep in mind that you will have to pay for food at the marina but can use all their facilities.

This was our third time to the Castilla and first time with the elite package. The resort occupancy was low, maybe 50% which some attributed to few Americans traveling to the region. The Argentinian restaurant was closed due to "renovations" but they used that excuse last year too instead of just being honest that it is due to occupancy. With the elite package you could dine at any of the a la cartes. Our favourite was the restaurant at the Marina. Beautiful outdoor patio and the service and food was fantastic! They charged us a $15USD / day at check in which was new to us. I asked why and the employee said for free parking and access to all the resorts. This felt like a scam. 1 - we flew from Canada so why would we need to park and 2 - with elite package you can go to any of the resorts for dinner. Just add the amount to the price at purchase instead of the hidden cost. We thought the elite package was worth it. Gave us access to La concha for breakfast and dinner. Had breakfast every morning outdoors by the ocean instead of in the cafeteria as many like to call it. Premium liquors, dinner at marina and a few other perks. We got in one round of golf and used the gym facilities daily. The El Cid will continue to be home for us. The staff are amazing, rooms are dated but we don't go to hang out in our room, we never go hungry and enjoy the entertainment around the pool. Appreciated they added a falconer since the last time we came. Kept the birds at bay while we enjoyed the outdoor dining and pool time. The weather was a little cooler than it has been in past years but I write this as we returned home to - 40 with the wind chill. What we wouldn't give to be back there! See you again El Cid!

My husband and I visited for a week the beginning of March, and we had the best time. We wanted a vacation for relaxing at the pool and on the beach and that is exactly what we got! The pool atmosphere was great, very clean and our pool guy/drink server, Paul Salas, was amazing. He was so efficient, and super friendly.,he always made sure we had what we needed! This beach front hotel is in a great location. I recommend getting an ocean view room because the view was wonderful. The buffet was great, alot of selection, always clean and fresh. We loved the lunch buffet which is open air atmosphere with views of the beach and ocean, with always fresh selections and always clean. If i had to complain about something, it would be, the bed was a bit hard for my liking, but that didnt ruin our time!!
