Note that this is written in January when the tourist and resort season is at low ebb in Wisconsin. Almost nobody at this huge facility, in fact the restaurants are on diminished hours due to the season. Clearly could be a different experience during car race weeks and summer. Although we had booked a one bedroom unit, we were called three hours prior to arrival and told that our condition of non-connecting rooms could not be met, but the management graciously agreed to move us to a two bedroom at the same cost. Heard about this place for years and decided we deserved a couple of days at one of the best (by reputation) in the state. Facility was much more than a hotel room, with fireplace, stove, refrigerator (with ice maker), micro and dishwasher. Very small sitting/living room, with one of two easy chairs with two broken legs. One bedroom had light and dark curtains, the other only a vision shade that did not keep out light in the morning. Tried to use the whirlpool in the evening and there was a “closed” sign on it. No message in the room or at the desk, who knew nothing about it. Not sure what the thermostats in each area of the condo did since they were set to 60 yet it was plenty warm. Adjusting did not seem to have any effect. Since it as winter and warm enough in our rooms, and we could crack the window to cool off, it wasn’t enough of a concern, but it maybe something to ask at the desk when you check in. The stay started off on the wrong foot. When we checked in the clerk asked for our car info, make/model/year/color/license. I knew all but the license and when I asked if there were a lot of my make/model/year/color that would make me a target for towing, I was told “you would be surprised”. Given that there were maybe 30 total cars in the lot, none even the same make, it was just a non-customer friendly way of enforcing some archaic middle of the summer or wedding party full house. Other receptionists courteous with a greeting each time we entered or left.

Place was nice and great for walking around town. However the AC was not working in our room. Strange we would need it in October but it was unseasonably warm. They sent someone to fix it but it went out again in middle of night. Woke up and it was 76 in room, could not sleep. Wrote to them in their text msg they sent asking for feedback but they never responded. Would like to give higher review but 4 hours of sleep at the price we paid I just can’t.

Went to the Osthoff resort this past weekend 11/1/24 to 11/3/24. I was a little concerned because all the positive reviews I read were several years old. There was no reason for concern this resort is lovely. The staff was friendly, the grounds were beautiful, and we had a great time. I rented a lakeview unit, and yes, I did have a lakeview, but I was expecting it to be a little closer to the lake so don't be surprised if your unit is in the center of the resort and not on the end closer to the lake. I can't blame anyone for my assumption. The room was nicely appointed we had a kitchen, living room and a private bedroom very cozy for a couple. The Balcony was nice and despite it being November we actually spent a lot of time on the balcony because the view was just so wonderful. The room decor could be updated a little, but it was very clean and comfortable. The Elk room was the nightly gathering place for all the guests there was live music each night, a nice touch and the bartender Chuck was great. If you are just looking for a quick escape, I would highly recommend this resort. It is a little under 3 hours away from Chicago and worth the trip.

The resort is in a great location. Rooms are clean. The issues we had can be chalked up to no attention to detail. First, the luggage carts available in the lobby at time of check in had flat tires so trying to push them was a pain.
Second, the shower door had a huge gap that allowed water to go all over the bathroom floor so we had to use towels to dry the floor and it’s a pain since you have to request housekeeping service. Third, we didn’t want to request housekeeping because there is no in room safe to lock up your personal items.
On a positive note, their beach is awesome but be prepared to bring your own towels or take towels from the pool.

Top notch without being stuffy
Very clean and comfortable. The room with kitchen we stayed in even had ice in the freezer! Great views, loved the waterfront (especially the hydrobikes) and all the establishments within walking distance. Phenomenal food at the Concourse! A huge shout out to the following employees who made our anniversary stay memorable.
Davina, Cheyenne, Emily, and Brittany from the Concourse. The food was so delicious we ate here twice for dinner. The bone in rib eye and cajun shrimp pasta were very yummy. Davina was new and made her first grasshopper and it was probably the best one I ever had in 50 years!
One issue was the girl at the gift shop on Wednesday, the 28th. She sat behind desk on her phone, never greeted us, and we had to ask her to bring something to pull off a shirt from a higher rack which didn’t make her day. We were the only customers in the shop. We would’ve left but temperatures got cool for late August and we had to buy sweatshirts.
Other than that, everything was perfect. The grounds were gorgeous, hotel was clean, and beds were incredibly comfortable!

A completely unsatisfactory place.
We were given a room that is often occupied by the owner. There was a large stain in the carpet. It had a closet filled with rotten food that smelled. And this included among other things, open liquor bottles, an open jar of French Onion dip that expired a year ago, popcorn that expired in 2021, a swollen can of tuna fish that had to be many years old and an ancient rusting can of mushrooms. We complained to the management and they wouldn’t remove it. They would only lock the closet door. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. When we checked in, there was a hotel iPad type device facing the guests that contained all of the personal information from someone who had recently checked in including a complete credit card number. They wouldn’t help us take our bags to our distant room. The hallway carpet smelled and you could see all kinds of snack food ground into the carpet from all the children running around. Kids are okay but the hotel needs to clean the carpet! The room telephone didn’t work properly. We were repeatedly called and asked if someone could remove “the tray” from our room even though we didn’t have any tray. We didn’t receive housekeeping even though we requested it after not being informed it wouldn’t be automatic. Someone dropped off one bath towel per person and didn’t make our bed or clean any of the room. I could only get a 5:30pm reservation at the restaurant when we asked for 6:30pm. There were always at least 6 open tables available even when we left at 7pm. The food was awful. Obnoxiously over salted French fries. Both steaks cooked incorrectly. However the only bright spot was our server who was sweet and apologetic. She took 1 steak dinner off the check and offered free dessert which we didn’t want.
This place would be over priced at $200per night and I paid $500 tax inclusive. I recounted this story to a friend who said they stayed here last year and left early because the A/C didn’t work in the room and they couldn’t fix it.
