If being on a perfect beach is your top priority consider Manoah! We have stayed at high end resorts and villas over the many years we have visited Anguilla. Since staying at Manoah in 2017 we return again and again to this boutique hotel. We call Manoah our little beach hotel - it is simple, offers basics and most importantly a perfect location on the best part of our favorite beach, Shoal Bay. The views from the Liz Building are truly ocean front and just steps to the beach. We spent most days just being at the Manoah - talking long walks on the whitest sand and swimming and floating in the clear turquoise water, divine!
This time we stayed in a Standard room on the top, 3rd floor, which gifted amazing views and breezes from the spacious deck. The room was a good size, clean and simply decorated. The air conditioner worked great.
Although we do not use the pool it is large and a very nice area. The bar/restaurant area has been refreshed and good looking. However they still need to up their food program. We ate no meals here except for grabbing a yogurt or banana for breakfast. We did enjoy several sunset cocktails in the bar lounge. They are currently working on a red roofed dining area that we heard may be a casual tapas or pizza addition.
Another important element that makes our stay wonderful is the staff. All staff was friendly, attentive, and helpful with our questions and needs. Most of the staff we knew from previous stays and welcomed us back with smiles and hugs. The crew is the glue to make our stay easy and seamless. Many thanks to Barbara for assisting with our reservation, Rochelle for helping make dining reservations off property, Renee the super bellman who first greeted us, Nyrah for the warm welcome and easy check in and check out, Angelina for front desk help, Shanno and Vee for making us tasty cocktails, housekeepers, gardeners and of course TC who set us up at the beach each morning and checked on us throughout the day.
The supreme location, great room with awesome views, friendly and helpful staff all comes with a refreshing price point! We look forward to returning in May.

If being right on one of the best beaches in the world is your thing then this hotel is a great value. It's not economy but it's not expensive. The open air restaurant bar area is friendly, gorgeous and very convenient. The pool area is very large and pretty (and uncrowded) But where they shine the most is the Liz Bldg beachfront rooms. The views are stunning from the rooms. I doubt the most expensive hotels on Anguilla have better beachfront view rooms.

Where do I start. Location unbelievably beautiful. Located right on shoal bay beach. Probably the nicest of all the beaches on the island. Accommodations very nice.
Staff were probably the friendliest ever encountered in the Caribbean!
Very well kept grounds and definitely will be booking for next winter.

Just returned from a 6 day stay at the Manoah Boutique Hotel, and I can confidently say we were impressed. The property was located right on Shoal bay, and had two main buildings with roughly 20-25 rooms. I’ll breakdown the main areas below:
Property: As mentioned, you’re located right on the beautiful Shoal Bay. We never had a problem getting beach chairs, and actually after 2 days they had our chairs ready to go without us ever asking which was a nice touch. There’s one restaurant on property, a pool, & a gym as well. You definitely don’t get that big resort feel which is why we enjoyed it so much. The grounds were always kept immaculate.
Rooms: We got the best of both worlds. 5 nights were spent in the Beachfront Superior room and one night in the Oceanview Superior Suite. The beachfront room was huge, and literally stepping out of your room onto the beach which was amazing. The room itself was a bit dated but the beach access aspect was great. Also had a nice patio on the ground level. The Oceanview Superior Suite was VERY impressive. It felt new, refreshed, and airy. Equipped with a massive balcony, it was definitely one of the nicest rooms we’ve ever gotten anywhere in the Caribbean. I’m shocked that it was cheaper than the beachfront room. Access to the beach from this room was walking through parking lot and property to beach. So in short, the beachfront room was amazing for beach access, but the Oceanview Suite blew it away in terms of the room and view.
Beach: Shoal Bay is serene. I’d say it’s comparable to a much smaller Grace Bay or even Magens Bay. The sand is a pure white powder and the water was crystal clear (depending on tide and wind) at times it felt like a private beach which was amazing. Throughout our whole stay there were maybe 2 vendors. Nothing like some other Caribbean beaches.
Food: Lunch menu was pretty robust. The food was very good. We never had dinner on property, but the breakfast was weak. REALLY weak. For a continental it was actually laughable. It literally consisted of white or wheat bread slices, croissants, sliced melon, & little cereal boxes. That’s it. We’ve gotten better continentals at an airport best western for $120/night. I get they want you to order things off the menu but it was truly a pathetic display. To top that off they charge $9 for a bottle of water, or $3 a bottle to replace the free one you get at check in.
MISC/TIPS:
1. You’re given one water bottle each at check in. After that it’s $3 a bottle.
2. A large bottle of water is $9
3. They Nickel and dime ALOT. This is the first resort I’ve ever stayed that that charged you for coffee in the room.
4. 80% of the Staff clearly want to be anywhere other than on property. The hospitality training seems to be nonexistent.
5. There are about 8-9 restaurants (including the one on property) all walking distance. Only two are open past 7pm so plan accordingly if you want dinner past then.
6. There’s almost 30% on every bill. You’ll feel it every time you eat. You’re also expected to tip on top of the mandatory 15%
Overall I can say we were throughly happy with our stay and our choice to stay here. There are a few things that are holding this back from being a 4-5 star hotel which are all very simple and mentioned by numerous past reviewers and also listed above. I’m happy with the decision to stay here, I just wish everything didn’t feel like a rip off once on property especially after spending what you pay a night here.

My wife and I are here now in Shoal Bay. Went to this resorts restaurant. We were there at 6:30pm and were worried because we were the only ones there. Started with a bottle of water and guacamole and chips. Found out water is $7. Won’t do that again. Chips and guac were good. I ordered the tuna steak and wife got the shrimp. I fell asleep waiting for it to come. 45 minutes. Asked for no onions and the tuna was covered with onions. Fish was dry and no flavor. Wife’s shrimp was dust okay. Waited another 10 minutes for check. Once was enough. Don’t waist your time we heard from others same problems. There are to many better restaurants on this beach. Server was nice but felt sorry for him because no one else came here.

It's hard to describe the beauty of this place. Photos don't do it justice. The main attraction for us was the beach. The sand is white and pink, the water is beautiful and clear. It is the best spot of Shoal's bay. We walked (left) all the way up to Zemi's and 100% our beach access was better than the rest. Walking right of the hotel a bit you can access no development—just sit on the beach alone with your loved ones and watch the sunrise with nothing but waves, beach and beautiful trees behind you.
The hotel is very chill and quiet when we were there. We do not like all-inclusive and the Manoah was perfect for us. They don't wait on you like at all-incl—but who cares when you get to walk through the most beautiful gardens and say hi to hummingbirds on your way to the bar. I made many trips between the beach and our room just to walk through that garden. Be chill to the staff and they'll take care of you. We had many unique conversations with the locals, they're lovely.
We didn't eat here much as we opted for a car (very easy to park at Manoah) but had a full breakfast our last day and it was very good! Rum punch welcome drink is real nice. We jetted around the island with our car and there are great restaurants around, some walkable, plus a little coffee shop (Le Bon Pain) nearby. We went everyday for breakfast and lunch sandwiches to eat back on the beach!
The rooms are quirky... but pretty. The room is huge and the balcony is awesome (plus ceiling fan!) if you need sun or rain relief. Small fridge didn't work great so we just had an ice bucket for the stay and would run to refill it at the bar (and greet our hummingbird friends on the way, ha!). Bring some earplugs as the birds will start chatting early!
If you're looking for a quiet, peaceful retreat and prioritize the beach above all else then you will love it here. The sunrise and full moon (if you are lucky to catch one!) still brings tears to my eyes.

We spent a wonderful week at The Manoah end of February. This was our 30th stay in Anguilla and our 7th stay at the Manoah. Why we return to this hotel is most importantly Manoah sits on the most perfect spot on our favorite beach Shoal Bay. We are beach lovers and spend all day, every day on the beach from early morning till sunset. Staying on Shoal Bay versus just visiting for the day is a totally different experience. Walking the beach at sunrise and taking in the sunset it is quiet and special. When staying in the front Liz Building - this trip Superior Room 202 - we were steps to glorious Shoal Bay. You never need to save a beach chair and all chairs are front row seats. The staff was welcoming and professional. Angelina with her big smile checked us in and helped us print boarding passes when checking out. Renee, the bellman greeted us and took us to our room. TC always set us up at the beach each morning with fresh towels and water. Our room was super clean, our bed very comfy and we had an incredible view from the large deck. We do wish the food program would improve. We don't eat breakfast except some mornings grabbed a yogurt or banana so that was fine. We bring our own coffee. However lunch and dinner offerings pretty basic. The view however from The Ocean Beach Club is stunning so we did enjoy some sunset cocktails. It is nice that a short drive is Ben's, Artisans, and Hibernia for dinners. Look forward to returning for in May!

READ these reviews carefully before booking here. Most people will say the beach is amazing (which it is) but the hotel is NOT. You can go to the same beach and rent a chair and umbrella while staying elsewhere - and saving a whole lot of money!!!! After my email to Barbara, the manager, went ignored, I am resorting to a review online. I concur with many reviews here saying the beds are very hard & uncomfortable. The breakfast waitress during the week was rude and put out by having to bring us coffee - everything else was self-serve continental. There were a couple of pleasant people on staff but Barbara, the Manager of the resort was not among them. When we went to the office to ask for help one night (because after three requests for a telephone in our room with no avail, we had to go downstairs to ask for anything), Barbara was on duty, she saw us in the empty office waiting, and walked the other way. We saw her walk away. Only after walking to the bar and getting the bartender involved did she arrive and help us, clearly aggravated. The island is lovely and there are LOTS of other options. Save yourself money and stay elsewhere. Hopefully the owners read the reviews and remedy the weak links, because the management is really lacking.

DO NOT SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS OR OWNER! We were just informed that our CONFIRMED reservation was cancelled out of the blue, 1 week prior to our stay. This has been confirmed since September of 2023 and we purchased 2k in airfare. The owner does not care and does not offer any help or support. We were supposed to check in NEXT WEEK and we just got an email saying our reservation has been cancelled even though I have a confirmation from the property. I confirmed the reservation last week and was told we were "all set for arrival" and then yesterday out of the blue an email saying it was cancelled. The owner and management could care less and will not respond to emails. I am so upset and hope this review will help others to avoid. I read some others saying the staff was treated poorly by the owner and the owner was "cheap" but now I too am seeing his true colors. This is NOT how you do business!

We had a fantastic stay at The Manoah. Our first trip to Anguilla, we thoroughly enjoyed our time on peaceful Shoal Bay East. There were so many times we had the entire beach to ourselves, enjoying a bottle of rose on the beach, watching the sunset.
We stayed in the Liz building, which we highly recommend as others have. We stayed in two different rooms on the third floor, which we knew about in advanced, and they were stunning! Some people had comments about the beds, but they were fine. Not Westin Heavenly Beds, but they were comfortable. The bathroom was huge, and while we brought out own shower chair and other accommodations, it worked well for my wife who has a manual wheelchair.
Every morning I would use the tray from our room to bring the continental breakfast to our room and enjoyed on our spacious balcony. As others have mentioned, it's basic but included. The croissants were always fresh, there was fresh cut pineapple, mango, and cantaloupe every day. One day there was delicious banana bread. Cereal, Toast an some other fruit round things off. We're not huge breakfast eaters, so it was adequate. They were always happy to give us a pot of coffee to take to the room as well.
We spent each day on one of the best beaches in the world. While there is a lovely pool, we spent as much time in the ocean as we could. The beach staff were perfectly attentive. The cushions that hotel places over the lounges are super comfortable, and the beach towels are very thick and comfortable. I'm usually more of a multiple towel hoarder, but it really wasn't necessary.
The chef and staff of the hotel restaurant do a great job. We had our first meal of the trip there, where we met the lovely Shauna for the first time, who was an angel our entire stay. We had lunch another day, but there are also some great nearby food selections. Next door is Maderiaman's with a great bar and a super delicious Seared Tuna Club Sandwich and a awesome Lobster Pizza. Olas Tacos had great bites and incredible Margaritas. A short drive away is the incredible lobster at Falcon Nest and delicious French food at Ben's Pit Stop. Gwen's Reggae Cafe is also just down the beach, but we never made it there.
The resort is 20-30 minutes away from the happening West End. We didn't rent a car, but were introduced to a nice man named Peter who became our private driver for the week. While we missed out on Blanchard's, we did make it to Straw Hat, which was lovely. We took in the sunset at the Four Seasons at the Sunset Lounge and Salt on our last day, and had a lovely time. At dinner, we kept saying we made the BEST decision to stay at The Manoah and Shoal Bay East in contrast to the hustle and bustle at the Four Seasons.
A few years back we stayed at another boutique hotel of similar size, with small but lovely staff in Turks and Caicos on Grace Bay. While we loved that similar experience, we really feel Anguilla has trumped that experience. The Manoah, Shoal Bay East, their staff, especially Shauna, and the great food on the island will bring us back again.

Beers we're not cold at the bar either. Do you have a problem with temperature control? Beautiful rooms, cleaning service was excellent. The staff was great. Continental breakfast needs more selections. Come on mix it up a bit the same old pastries every day. Restaurant has a great chef but you can only do so much with what you are given. This hotel has great potential, heard the owner of the property nickel and dimes everything. Does not want to spend the money on quality. So sad. The staff has made suggestions without any action. Guess he is keeping it all so he can drive his BMW.

Not sure why the negative reviews. This small resort is AMAZING and on one of the best beaches in the entire Caribbean. It's not the Four Seasons or Cap Juluca with the service, amenities, and highly staff to guest ratio but it's a solid 4-star experience at a fraction of the cost. Rooms and amenities are also exactly as you see on their website (not sure what the review from June is referencing). Best valued resort on Anguilla IMO. Stay in the Liz Building... all of these rooms are truly oceanfront with huge patios, amazing bathrooms, in some cases a living room, and spectacular ocean and beach views.
Only negative we can think of is that it is a drive to get to the west end restaurants. We had a rental car which helped tremendously but ended up staying on the east end most of the trip and only went to the other side a few times to hit Blanchards, Sunset Lounge, Sunshine Shack, etc. Plenty of great restaurants on this side too though ... we ate at the resort's beachfront restaurant, Maderiaman next door, Olas Tacos, Artisian, Falcon Nest, and a couple others. There are plenty of options!
I feel this resort is ideal for those that like to relax on the beach, don't need to be overly pampered, and don't want to spend as much as the high end resorts cost. It has a very laidback, barefoot luxury type vibe well suited for couples or families. All of beach chairs are nicely cushioned and in only one row so all have ocean views. No issues either getting chairs... because it's such a small resort, chairs are always readily available. The beach bar and restaurant is adjacent to the beach and there is always a beach attendant available to bring you drinks and food. The huge pool is also on the backside of the restaurant and only steps away.
Lastly, we found the employees to be extremely friendly and always readily available to help. Shoutout to Mr T, Kenny, Shauna, and the front desk and housekeeping staff!

Fantastic, relaxing hotel: well appointed rooms, excellent service, good restaurant, and beautiful beach views and better sunsets. Several good beach front restaurants a few steps away. It is a little down market from the Zemi Beach House at the other end of the beach, but also significantly less expensive. The nicest hotels and restaurants are on Meads Bay, but the beach is better at Shoal Bay.

We just spent a week at Manoah Boutique. I hesitated before booking based on some of the reviews. Our thoughts below
1. It is situated on the most beautiful we have ever seen
2. The building was immaculate
3. The beds were very comfortable
4. The continental breakfast was free and more than enough for a light breakfast. Additional food (delicious ) was available if you wanted more. This was clearly explained to us on first day
5. The staff at Restaurant / beach bar was fantastic ( Special shout out to Shana & Francesca)
I really don't understand the negative reviews - this hotel offers an incredible value for the money and we will be back!!
