From the moment we arrived we knew we were going to have an amazing holiday. We absolutely loved everything about The House! The Staff are amazing and can’t do enough for you. Big shout out to Aggie, Wade, Andrew, Dennis, Kobia, Jada, and honestly ALL other staff that looked after us! You guys are the heart of this hotel! Rooms are huge, mini bar plentiful, plenty of sunbeds, lovely breakfasts (big shout out to Pat!!!) The lovely ambassadors sorted out any reservations we wanted to make at restaurants on the island, arranged taxis for us and came round every morning to see if we needed any help with anything at breakfast. We celebrated our 50th and 60th birthdays while there and it was the best holiday we could have had. Food was plentiful and very good with ala carte lunches most days… they will even make a picnic up for you if you go out in a car for the day! Thank you so much for making our holiday amazing to all staff at The House! I even cried on the way to the airport 🥲 The only slight worry is after the refurb you may price us out and we won’t be able to visit…that really would be a shame. Keep it real Marriot!

I am not going to comment on the structure, fabric and aesthetics of this hotel, as it is due to be refurbished soon and, hopefully, this will improve its tired appearance. I hope, however, that any improvements that are made, will not be to the detriment of this amazingly friendly, yet intimate hotel. The food at many all inclusive resorts leaves a lot to be desired, but the menus here are varied and of a very good standard. Only the occasional buffet and barbecue were a little . disappointing, with limited choice. There were a small number of premium spirits not included, but nevertheless, the standard of cocktails was excellent. Situated right on the beach, water sports are included,as is a water taxi to take you to sister hotels where all inclusive applies for facilities and dining. This is a small hotel with a big heart. Please don’t change too much, especially your staff who all went above and beyond to make our stay very special.

We stayed here last year and 10 days wasn’t long enough. So this year we visited end of May for 14 days. Leaving was still a wrench!! The staff here are among the best we have ever experienced. The hotel is a perfect small oasis with impeccable and fun loving staff - Andrew/ Wade - too many to give a shout out. The champagne breakfasts are great- the ladies doing the fresh omelettes and eggs deserve a shout out too. The beach staff were so attentive water / drinks / cold flannels and ice lollipops. Jason the manager sorted out a few issues for us in a quiet and ultimate fun way. Looking forward to being back next year

We stayed at The House for 10 days in March this year as a couple. This is one of the best holidays we’ve been on and it was absolutely the staff and the homely nature of this hotel that made it for us. The rooms in the hotel are due to be refurbished so we’re a little tired, but this did not affect our stay at all! Comfiest bed I’ve ever slept in! The breakfast was amazing every single day and the evening meals were well presented with good options. Most evenings were a la carte and we particularly enjoyed the fact the menu was displayed for each evening at the start of the day. We anticipated that we’d use the dine around programme with Elegant but ultimately the menus always looked so delicious at The House that we didn’t end up leaving, apart from the night when we enjoyed a lovely meal at Positanos next door. Cocktails were expertly prepared and ambassadors were always on hand by the pool and on the beach to bring drinks, ice lollies and cool towels as well as the occasionally pots of suncream! We noticed after a few days that ambassadors learnt what drinks we liked and had them ready for us before we asked, which was a wonderful touch. My partner doesn’t drink alcohol and they made some wonderful none alcoholic cocktails for him. One stand out experience of the resort was dressing for evening cocktails and canapés on the beachfront before a dinner in the open air of the in-house restaurant, which was particularly romantic. Absolute shout out to the wonderful chef/s both behind the scenes and in front of the barbecue. My partner eats meat and fish but I am vegetarian and there were always great options for me. There was usually only one veggie option on mains and starter each day but they were always delicious! The staff really make this place, they were attentive, on hand whenever you needed them and such a good laugh! The ambassadors, bar staff and extremely hard working manager always went a step above and beyond for guests, but most importantly they were approachable and friendly in a genuine way that made this hotel the most homely place we have ever stayed. It is not easy to get a balance of luxury and homely but The House impressively achieves this. We already can’t wait to come back again once the rooms are refurbished. It’s hard to single out staff as everyone was so wonderful but we wanted to do a big shout out to all the staff on the egg station at breakfast (especially to Pat who gave me directions, recommended pans to my partner and generally chatted about life each morning with us) and to Jason, the hardest working manager I’ve ever met. Can’t wait to go back!

We spent 9 wonderful days at The House having been relocated there from Treasure Beach Hotel (due to refurbishment overrun) like several other guests we met. We were made to feel very welcome on arrival with a lovely rum punch! We enjoyed most of the food from the plentiful champagne breakfasts, lunches, and evening meals - favourites included the grilled BBQ lunch which included lobster, steak, shrimp etc, and the Taco Station lunch. There was live music at dinner on several evenings which was good however it did finish very early -perhaps it could be extended a little bit beyond dinner or at least have a little music playing in the background ? Drinks were plentiful with drinkable house wines and fabulous cocktails- however spirits such as gin and whisky were not premium brands so you do have to pay extra if you want something other than Gordons Gin or Grants Whisky. The whole ambiance is relaxed, friendly and chilled -the ambassadors (staff) are wonderful and most seem to enjoy working there -always happy to help or chat! Drinks, iced water, fresh fruit, ice lollies and even sun cream were delivered every day to your sunbed by one of the ambassadors! No problem getting a sunbed during our stay as the hotel now seems to have extra ones available if needed. Big thanks to Wade, Shane (no 1), Rico, Kobia, Kwesi, Andrew, Dennis, Sophia, Patricia, Handy Andy & all the others (far too many to name as they were all amazing). There is also a weekly Managers Cocktail party which provides an opportunity to meet and chat with the management team, and Jason (hotel manager) was also visible around the hotel during the day. Also have to mention the hotel cat, Panda, who is adorable and definitely the ‘Boss’ ! As other reviews have mentioned the rooms are very dated and long overdue a refurbishment -we had a one bedroom suite with plunge pool and while it was spacious and relatively comfortable, it definitely needs an upgrade, particularly the bathroom. We understand the refurbishment of the accommodation is due to start in July and this should make a big difference. Overall, we had a wonderful, relaxing holiday in this small and friendly hotel with its fabulous location overlooking the beautiful turquoise sea. Hopefully the renovations of the rooms will add a touch of luxury to the experience in the future but that the hotel will still retain its Bajan charm and the friendly and attentive service provided by its staff. Thanks to all at The House for a memorable holiday!

We had seen a few reviews about The House, we could agree with the place being tired, but could not find fault with the cleanliness of The House. We found the food excellent, we had different meals most days and nights and couldn't want anything better. The staff were excellent from service inside to outside, and wanted you to enjoy your stay. Whilst outside enjoying the sunshine, Shane was just brilliant bringing round suncream, water, fruit, ice lollies and obviously a lovely cocktail. We went on a cool running catamaran sunset cruise which we enjoyed(missed out on senset) but enjoyed snorkeling and the food on board was again excellent and the crew again got involved and wanted you to enjoy. Also decided to do a island tour(beautiful Barbados) Charles our minibus driver was really knowledgeable about the islands history and also about the island in general. Back to The House, speak to the staff and you will find you get more out of your break. Dennis, Wade, Andrew at the bar, shafeek, shocarra, Agnes, Shane service, Mariner boats snorkles etc. That's just to name a few they were all wanting to help. The only thing we were not really looking forward to our 8 hour plus flight back but even that wasn't too bad. Just a lovely break.

Trip advisor WOW We originally booked the Waves hotel, but due to the adults only side being refurbished we had the choice of moving to the House. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel at home and welcomed to this small hotel. The staff were amazing, just to mention a few, Denis in the bar, Wade, Pat in charge of everything to do with the eggs, the omelettes were great, ham, cheese, mushroom and onion that I had was delicious. “Few too many times” The choice of food was great and delicious. For all the negative reviews, I think they might have had one too many rum punches. Just to the right of the hotel looking out to sea is a small reef great for snorkelling, I’d recommend bringing water shoes as some of the broken pieces of corals and shell etc are sharp as you get in. There has been some negative reviews about the hotel needing updating, and the hotel could do with an overhaul, which is coming soon. But had no complaints, the rooms are spacious and comfortable. I really do hope they hang on to the staff when they do the re-fit. We had a ground floor garden view and would definitely be happy to book this again. There is no reception, but the ambassadors are very knowledgeable and can’t do enough for you. To sum up, if you want a small relaxed hotel, where you are made to feel special then the House is for you.

This is a typical all inclusive where it’s not ALL, but PART, where you get the bottom shelf drinks, but have to pay for anything decent. Our room was in need of a refurb but very comfortable, however having paid extra for a suite, we were extremely close to the restaurants extractor fans, so we had constant noise and smell! However the food was good although not many choices, and the staff were excellent. A special thanks to Agnes, Kriezy and Dennis who made our stay memorable.

We are actually at this amazing little gem as I write from my sunbed overlooking the beautiful sea! We were really worried before due to some very negative reviews but I wanted to write this to say how happy we are we chose here! There are sunbeds a plenty and the wonderful staff cannot do enough for you. Continually coming around the pool area to ask if you want anything, drinks are a plenty and delicious , food is great! It is a little dated hence the refurb happening, but rooms are very spacious and clean. Nothing is to much for them, I even asked for extra lamps in my room and they arrived in minutes! I loved the no reception concept, so no queuing, you just ask someone whatever you want and they make it happen! If you want a true Caribbean, totally chilled out experience I recommend here, if you want a stuffy, action packed noisy experience then not for you! They even secretly set up a birthday breakfast with balloons for my husbands birthday as we were a ground floor terrace. For us it’s been perfect and central to all the other restaurants like The Cliff, Sandy land etc we also booked! Thank you The House for your wonderful hospitality xxxxx

The staff were all friendly, offering knowledge of nearby restaurants and local fun hangouts. Patrica at the egg station was amazing and is a total gem to the property. Very warm and inviting I would come back just for her and the cocktails of course. Our jet leg massage was invigorating and refreshing. Ria and Shakira have blessed hands with the most gentle touch and welcoming spirits. My fave meal was probably lunch they had a grill with chicken lobster salmon shrimp and steak I wish it was for dinner as well. The cocktails were all amazing the green flash and after dark were my faves. It was a nice vacay and one I would do again

We spent a week here and it was overall a very nice experience. We were concerned about some of the negative reviews but our worries were unfounded. As with most hotels, The House is not perfect but provides a very comfortable stay. We appreciated the smaller size of the hotel and its cozy feel. Some updating and maintenance is needed here and there but the property is clean and the staff is very accommodating. Agree with the comments on no front desk which we found strange but you could generally find an ambassador at some point. The open air dining area, bar, and outer deck with lounge seating by the beach are lovely. The lounge chair situation is amusing but we always managed to find something. The pool area is small but appropriate for the size of the hotel. Food and drink were plentiful and service occasionally uneven but overall good. Breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner are all provided. As stated in other reviews, the rooms and balconies are spacious and the bed was one of the most comfortable we can remember. Bathrooms are an area in need of an update and we understand a renovation is scheduled for this summer. The highlight of our trip was the food service staff. Shane kept us comfortable at the pool during the day, Denis is a marvelous bartender, and servers such a Shafeeq, Sophia, Andrew, Nadia, and others treated us like family. We enjoyed our stay and hope to make a return visit.

My spouse and I spent several nights in this beautiful, all inclusive resort. The resort is much smaller than I anticipated, but it was amazing. To start, we were upgraded to a beautiful large suite with two different balconies overlooking the ocean. While the rooms are a bit outdated, they were extremely comfortable. The food at the hotel was terrific, and we enjoyed live music during dinner. The snorkeling from the beach was the best I have ever experienced, and we have stayed at hotels throughout the Caribbean. Wade, the bartender was awesome, and he took great care of us while at the pool. The complimentary massage was wonderful. The gym definitely needs some work, but I suspect very few people visit it. In short, this property was amazing, the beach was beautiful, the staff were so gracious and helpful, and we plan to return.

We had a great 10 days in Feb. We were lucky to get a gorgeous junior ocean view suite which was ground floor so we could walk straight out onto the pool . We loved the food , eating out and about only once as we found the choice and quality excellent . Staff were all great with a special shout out to Pat at breakfast and Dennis at the bar . The beach is small and steep to get in and out of so some elder guests struggled . We were happy to walk 15 minutes to where the sea was calm and beautiful . For three days the sea generally was so rough it came up to the dining area and no one could swim anywhere , but that was apparently highly unusual . As other reviews have said the hotel fabric is a little tired but a major refurbishment starts in April and if the quality of the exterior improvements is matched internally then it should be amazing . It’s a bit strange not to have a reception as sometimes the Ambassadors are busy , but they were always so willing to help . A final huge thank you to Jason the manager as our transfer back to the airport by a third party failed and he was fantastic at stepping in and getting it sorted . Would definitely love to go again !

The accommodation is below standard, but the serving staff, food, drinks and other guests were all great. We have just returned from a 5 day stay. We were in an ocean view double (368) which boasted a stunning view. The room was tired though. It had enough space, but the door lock failed every day (needing new batteries) and things like a damaged iron, a safe where only three/four keys worked took the edge off it. The bathroom was outdated and needed a total refit. The House isn’t a five star hotel. It’s seen better days and it’s due for a tidy up and a renovation which we were told is planned for summer 2024. Having seen some of the alternatives nearby (not Marriot) if it wants to keep charging its premium rates they need to get on with it. Stage two renovations will apparently be completed in June this year (2024) Due to the renovations there is still no central reception area (reception staff hide behind locked doors in an office area and seem to enjoy the peace and quiet) so they aren’t very accessible. However, the main front entrance has just reopened (Feb 13 2024). The sunbed issue is not resolved as the hotel are not enforcing their rule to remove towels after 2 hours of unoccupied beds. Many guests throw towels over them at the crack of dawn. Often there is nowhere to sit as all the beds are taken but hardly anyone on them. There wasn’t much room on the beach due to high tides either. I wouldn’t recommend the spa. We had been given a complementary 30 min massage on arrival. There’s a sign permanently stuck to the door of the spa to say that the therapists are in treatments so I popped my head in. I felt uncomfortable from the therapist Riah’s general attitude, so didn’t want to stay and didn’t take up the treatment. HOWEVER. And it’s a really big however - if you can see past all this, (which hopefully you won’t have to deal with after the refurb) the restaurant and bar staff are great. Service is quick and good. Denis at the bar and Jason (runs hotel) Wade, Rhea, and Andrew at the restaurant all deserve a mention - they are really attentive and go out of their way to ensure a great holiday experience all round. This makes up for so much. The good and wide food choices every evening and the range of cocktails and wine are all up to expectations. Theres no queuing or waiting for anything, they really look after you. I am Gluten Free and they are all over it. There is a great vibe and atmosphere here, it’s very friendly and sociable between the staff and the guests. We had a great break, but would only come back because of the staff and in the expectation that the hotel is upgraded as promised.

We just finished 5 fabulous days at House Barbados. Intimate adults only resort on the beach in Paynes Bay. The atmosphere is as casual or fancy as you like. It’s a small hotel with great staff. There are many choices for meals including an Italian restaurant next door as an option for dinner. Shane on the beach will take care of you all day long and Wayne in the dining room always has a welcoming smile. We were upgraded to a suite with a private plunge pool just fabulous. The housekeeping team deserves a shout out for keeping the rooms and public spaces clean.

Like others that we met, we had booked Treasure Beach and were moved due to a refurb. We arrived expecting the lovely entrance as pictured and were slightly disappointed that we were to enter via next door and a corridor, we since learned that the hotel are in the final stages of re landscaping and it should be complete by now. Although we felt the lack of a reception or central point of communication, the staff were welcoming, friendly and keen to assist in all areas. The lounge and dining area are clean and comfortable and afford fabulous views towards the beach and sea, our room was much bigger than expected with a lovely terrace and spotlessly clean. The breakfast buffet was standard fare, eggs cooked to your liking always with a smile, lunch and dinner were a la carte and we enjoyed every meal - even asking for alternative sides etc was never an issue. The pool area was clean and the service was exemplary - attentive staff offering drinks, fresh fruit, ice lollies, cold flannels etc throughout the day. Unfortunately the elements weren’t kind to the beach area while we were there, the sunbeds had to be removed and relocated as the sea came so high. Water sports were easy to book with friendly staff on hand to advise. The bar area was always staffed and the team keen for you to try their cocktails, nothing too much trouble. All in all we had a very peaceful, relaxing holiday and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We had booked Treasure Beach nearby ,which we have experienced fondly in the past ,but as a refurbishment project had overrun we were offered the alternative of staying in The House . We had visited friends who liked the hotel in the past and it was considered a step up in rating and quality before we arrived . How wrong we were . Far from being luxury with service to match it would rate as poor in so many respects ( particularly compared to any hotel in Asia ) despite willing staff always 'doing their best '. The Elegant Hotels Group was acquired by Marriott a few years ago yet perhaps tellingly is not branded as such and there is scant evidence of professional management by one of the world's largest hotel chains . It is also generally tired with more than a lick of paint needed if it is to be worth the money . Amongst more specific issues are ; -Despite new loungers , there are not enough beds for the number of guests especially as shade is at a premium . This leads to unseemly behaviour early in the morning unpoliced by the hotel despite some plaintiff signs around such early reservation -The breakfast buffet is a shadow of others at similar hotels - Dining is hit and miss and one can think 'all inclusive ' promotes unhealthy complacency amongst the catering team . Certainly a wait of 54mins for soup is considered excessive - A general absence of management and customer care . We have never before been to an hotel without a reception and having always someone to ask . Though there was some supervision we believe it is unclear who is responsible for anything - Almost no communication about events , special meals , managers cocktail parties , buffets, entertainment or anything of interest to those trying to enjoy the beauty of Barbados' west coast. At more than $1100 a night it is not worth anything like it . Never again for us .
