Long stemmed roses to enhance the luxury feel - and they were replaced with fresh ones after the second day. Central yet on a calm square.

Location is right in center walkable to everything. Concierge was super helpful with transportation. We had dinner as well which we thought was just ok - not one dish was wow- would have been better to eat outside of hotel for dinner. The patio was closed so had to eat inside. We would definitely go back!

We contacted the reservations department before we arrived & asked for an early check-in if possible due to our train arrival time in Venice. A note back said our request was noted but not guaranteed. We arrived around 1:00 pm. The hotel employee pulled up our reservation & said, "I see you are paying with points and cash” then told us check in was at 3:00 & an early check-in was not possible. Our luggage was stored & we went out to explore Venice. After a long day of traveling, we were ready to check into our room. We returned at 3:00pm & our room was still not ready. It was almost 4:00 p.m. when we were finally able to get to our room. It was so welcoming to see yellow roses, a bottle of champagne & a bowl of oranges. Too tired to go out we ordered room service for dinner. Dinner arrived promptly, but they messed up our order and only sent one dinner. We shared the one dinner while we waited for the other dinner to show up. Before bed, we pre-ordered breakfast for the next day. Breakfast showed up on time. We sat down for breakfast, opened a jar of jam to put on a croissant & was shocked to see it was already opened & used. We opened another jar & that too was opened & used as well. ALL of the jars were already opened & used. I cannot say enough how disgusting it was to receive multiple jars of jam that were on someone else's breakfast table & already opened & used. It really makes a person question what else has been on someone else's table before it came to us. Being served half eaten food of any kind is just not acceptable anywhere and to anyone. After another bad room service experience, we left the hotel for the day. We returned to our room later that day looking forward to having champagne & oranges. Again, we were quite shocked to see that our complimentary champagne & oranges had been removed from our room. Were they only complimentary for one day? Wow!! We were so excited to stay at the Gritty Palace but this was not the 5 star experience we expected from this hotel especially one that is supposed to be so prestigious as The Gritty Palace. The hotel obviously loves to share and display all the famous people that have stayed here. It makes us question if the 5 star experience is reserved for guests that are not using Marriott points & are of a certain movie star status. I'm sorry but not all guests will be famous or of nobility, but I can assure you (Gritty Palace) that ALL guests enjoy & appreciate being treated like they matter as well.

This hotel truly offers a 5🌟 experience to all guests. Doormen great you through the front entrance only. Side door is serve yourself. The check-in staff is gracious and polite and escorts you to your room. The Sisley spa was a dream! Elena the hostess and the restaurant along with the rest of the staff at breakfast was kind and attentive. But the food was fantastic! The hotel welcomed us with complementary champagne and oranges which was a delight after traveling into Venice. The water taxis can be a bit expensive but the concierge will pre schedule and get the prices ahead of time for you. Our best hotel experience while in Italy!

Beautiful 25th Anniversary celebration
Absolutely amazing! While it is by far a beautiful hotel, the staff are incredible in every way. From the minute our water taxi pulled up to the dock, to registration, to breakfast in the morning, everyone was amazing. We will definitely be back!

Stayed for just one night in November. The rooms have an old world charm but at the same time show signs of ageing with fading colours and spots on the furniture. We had all three meals in the restaurant by the grand canal and the food and service was top notch. Only shortcoming is that their bar/ Riva lounge is touted as a must-visit cigar lounge online but we were told only possible seating for cigar smoking is a cramped side table right next to the waiter station. It was not at all a good experience by "Marriot's luxury collection" standards. Either say we don't allow cigars/smoking but this way just leaves a poor taste.

our half a week’s stay at the Gritti Palace was truly 5 stAr from things you could hold in the hand to amazing Venetian treasures and trinkets you see all around … in the lobby, the room, the bathroom in a suite too, while it was on a lower floor; awesome to be woken up in Venice as if the morning call was set to the sound of gondoliers walking through the front door, amazing … the concierges were able to pass us the correct key without having to ask for our names; each time, talk about facial recognition the maître d' and dining team organise an awesome breakfast, not light, not too heavy; tempting enough to have another plate, but we are terrace-side of the Grand Canal and Venice is calling Awesome; Amazing; Arrivederci

Wonderful experience in Venice
If you have a room with a view it is stunning, the room was very clean. The terrace breakfast - although very expensive - was gorgeous. The staff in the location is very helpful and they are ready to help you out on restaurants recommendations, reservations or taxi.
just do it spend the money

My wife and I had a fantastic stay at the The Gritti for our wedding anniversary. We booked the most basic room but as Platinum Elite members with Marriott we opted to use our suite upgrade vouchers to try and upgrade to a junior suite. When we arrived, we were informed that they actually upgraded us to another category and put is in a one bedroom corner suite overlooking the Grand Canal and the Basilica Santa Maria Della Salute. The room was absolutely stunning! Easily the nicest suite we've ever stayed in and definitely the best upgrade we've ever received with Marriott. The property itself is also fantastic. They have done a fantastic job of preserving many of the historic details of this iconic hotel while still ensuring that the amenities are modern. We loved walking through the corridors and admiring all of the art and photos on the wall. The location also cannot be beat. It's a quick walk to just about everywhere in Venice. In addition to the hotel's private dock, which you can take water taxis to and from, there is spot where you can catch a gondola right next door and about a block away there is a water bus station. Everything this beautiful city has to offer is easily within reach and if you're having difficulty figuring out how to get around the friendly concierge will be more than happy to assist you. Overall, our stay at The Gritti was an absolute dream. I only wish we could have stayed longer. Our many thanks go out to all of the wonderful staff who made our stay memorable!

Lucky to stay at this wonderful hotel! Gritti palace is very beautiful! We had a gorgeous, fascinating, truly royal room with a view of the grand canal (landmark). As a compliment, we had a bottle of champagne, apricots and cookies in our room. The bed linen is so soft, comfortable, my husband and I slept like babies all night. We sat downstairs in a cool bar, we were well served, everything was delicious! The staff is all nice and friendly! They booked for us a boat for a walk, they did everything. We liked everything! it's sad that we only stayed for one night. I recommend this hotel!
