Booked this as a surprise weekend getaway for my wife (I unfortunately caved a week beforehand and told her where we were going, which was probably a good idea). We could not have enjoyed our time more. Our only complaint is that it was too short. Described as the “shoulder season” we were literally the only guests and had our own private slice of heaven the entire weekend. The accommodations are beyond incredible. We stayed at the mountain modern Light Haus and indulged in all that it had to offer. Wood burning fireplace by our hot tub. Super comfy bed and indoor fireplace and wall to ceiling windows to enjoy the beautiful forest and sky. I was a little worried when I booked at this time of year because I wasn’t sure if it was more winter season or spring season in regard to the activities. We lucked out and got the best of both worlds. We were able to go dog sledding and go on a snowmobile tour of a ghost town all while enjoying 50 degrees and sunny skies. The guides were great and we had so much fun. This place is known for its food and it sure did not disappoint. Chef Brandon was out but we were lucky enough to have Chef Carson and he dazzled us with so many fantastic, fun, and creative dishes. We also can’t forgot Amy at the Social Haus who really made us feel welcome and at home. Truly one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in a long time. Definitely worth every penny and we can’t wait to come back.

We spent the week of Christmas at the Green O. It was a fabulous holiday. Many reviewers have raved about the food, and we concur. The definition of a Michelin Three Star restaurant is "exceptional food, well worth a special journey". We have been fortunate enough to eat in many Michelin 2 and 3 star restaurants around the world, and the cuisine presented by Chef Brendon at Green O is in that category. And our hostess/waitress/bar tender Amy was great - making us feel welcome and providing superb service. The accomodation (we were in a Round Haus) was excellent - cosy and nicely decorated for Christmas. And every day some sort of special treat arrived. For activities, we did snow mobiling and dog sledding - both of which were great fun. The experience wasn't perfect - the "concierge" service left something to be desired and the housekeeping was a bit erratic - but these are small quibbles. Overall a fabulous experience, and Green O gets our top accolade; namely, that we intend to come back!

We had high expectations for our stay at the Green O considering it cost over $4K a night to stay at one of their tree houses. The Green O has outstanding dining and the most beautiful architecture.
What they got right is the out of the world delicious food by Chef Brendan and his entire team. The ingredients they use, presentation, flavor and the enthusiasm they bring every dish to your table just blew our mind. The breakfast, snacks and lunch menu brought another level of excellence to an already incredible dinner menu. The other thing they got right was their young staff of guides they have for each of their activities. Big shout out to Ethan and Connor for showing us how to shoot rifles and Jake for being incredibly patient with us during our first fly fishing trip. These young guys were knowledgeable, professional and extremely fun to hangout with.
I can’t believe these talented chefs and the kitchen staff along with the guides are working at a poorly operated establishment like the Green O. There is something truly wrong with how things are being run with the concierge, main desk and service. We were promised a car for our entire stay and didn’t get one until we called and texted concierge about 6 times. No one seemed to know where our car was but they kept saying we should absolutely have one. Once we did get the car we weren’t provided with the gate code to reenter the Green O section. Housekeeping was at a bare minimum. They barely made our beds, throw pillows remained on the floors, food crumbs were on the patio furniture from the previous stay, did not take out any trash, replace coffee mugs or unwashed glasses, did not even take used glasses we drank cocktails from the previous nights. We dined in our treehouse twice and both times noticed there were no silverware and had to run down to the restaurant to get it.
Other frustrations were the A/C barely working and it was close to 100 degrees everyday. The sheets were linen, rough and itchy and we barely got any sleep. The hot tub wasn’t cleaned out and turning down the temperature didn’t work. On top of that our spa treatments were canceled due to the high temperatures since their spa tents were outside and they were never able to reschedule us for an early morning despite us being there for 5 days and following up on it everyday.
We reached out to concierge many times and they seem to not know how to meet any of our requests. Instead they gave the same two bottles of wine we didn’t drink when we first arrived as an apology. We spoke to other hotel guests around the property randomly that experienced the same frustrations. The lack of attention to detail is truly abysmal and this place should not be considered a 5 star accommodations. I hope the Green O figures out a way to turn around their customer service since they are bringing down all the great front facing staff down with them.
We did reach a breaking point when we were denied a late checkout. My husband went and spoke to the manager in person since other guests told us they did the same. We were credited back half of our last night’s accommodation and a $750 activities credit. We couldn’t wait to get out of there the next day and ended up going to the airport early.

This place is firing on all cylinders: the gorgeous landscape, the sleek architecture, the kind hearted and helpful staff and the FOOD. You want a car, bikes, rafting….bison?!? It’s all here. I read a couple of reviews that mentioned issues with housekeeping. Trust me, those issues have been addressed. Housekeeping was on point, and the word “no” is not in their vocabulary. my husband and I can’t wait to come back in the winter.

They don’t know what it is. They just barely made the bed even though we told them several times about replacing used towels with clean ones, hanging up robes, pretty much straightforward tidying up the room. You get that at any airport inn. It should be supper basic!

I was really anxious to try this place and had been following since before opening. We came for our 25th anniversary. It is a beautiful property. Love the design. The price was SUPER high, even for the luxury places we are used to staying. The food experience is amazing. The availability of activities is endless.
We had a couple of hiccups. One is that it is not good for people with mobility issues. My husband had hip surgery the month before (which had been delayed unfortunately) and he had some problems getting around on the gravel. You can't park in front of your house, so that's something to consider. Also the fireplace in our house did not work, which is disappointing since you are on Montana. Our smoke alarm starting chirping very early one morning. That's a bummer. I did manage to get to the spa which was great. Also we had a photo session with Stewart, who not only is an amazing photographer but was so much fun.
I hate reading reviews when people criticize for petty things. But just as I read some others on this place, for this price people really do expect pretty close to perfection. That being said, we would gladly come again.

We enjoyed a wonderful few days at the GreenO with our three adult children and spouses, celebrating our 50th anniversary. The experience was exactly what we were hoping for, from the gorgeous accommodations to the exquisite dining to the plethora of activities offered. We sampled a large array of activities, including trail riding, cattle driving, clay shooting, guided hiking, fly fishing, water rafting, UTV riding, massages and yoga. All of the staff were gracious, cheerful and helpful . Don’t miss the delicious, beautiful tasting menu for dinner at the Social Haus . We thought we might venture to one of the other dining locales but the tasting menu was just too special. One of our group is vegetarian and she was equally pleased with the very similar items on her personal menu. It was fun to sit around the fire pit after dinner one night, making s’mores, and having a delectable pizza delivered to us another night . The coffee and pastries delivered to each Haus every morning were another lovely touch. I can’t say enough about how much thought must have gone into placement of each Haus, as we visited the four which our group occupied and each seemed very private, well screened by trees and vegetation. Expanses of glass from floor to high windows brought the outdoors in and contributed to the contemporary but pleasingly rustic ambiance. We stayed in the LightHaus but the others similarly enjoyed TreeHaus, RoundHaus and GreenHaus. Our group would unconditionally recommend GreenO to anyone wanting a large choice of activities along with beautiful, comfortable surroundings and delicious food.

My husband and I spent 6 nights at green o and really enjoyed our stay. Prior to checking into green o, we spent 4 nights at their sister property, Resort at Paws Up (reviewed separately), and can say the experience between both resorts is night and day!
I initially wanted to stay in the Tree Haus, but after looking at the floor plan on the website (you have to climb up 2 flights of stairs to get to the bedroom), I changed to Round Haus. The Round Haus is very open and spacious. Pictures on the website felt accurate, but was much more stunning in person. Of note, washer & dryers are in the room, so no need to overpack.
The food at green o is incomparable to what is offered at Pomp, Trough and Shed at Paws Up. If you are expecting American dishes or slabs of meat, I would recommend staying at Paws Up instead. Chef Brandon integrates a surprising amount of Asian influences in his menus, which I was admittedly skeptical (I was not expecting to eat okonomiyaki in Montana!), but he and his team executes the fusion quite flawlessly.
Breakfast and lunch menus are unchanged, so it was worth to have lunch at Trough and Shed at Paws Up if you want a change. Trough is more restaurant dining style (appetizer, salad, entrees) and Shed is a fast casual bbq (brisket, pulled pork sandwiches, sausages). Dinner (9 prix fixe courses) changes nightly, though, we noticed some overlap in dishes being prepared a little differently other nights. Dinner is truly a memorable experience on par with any Michelin restaurant (think Eleven Madison [original concept], Mugaritz in Spain or Borago in Chile). If you want to try Pomp or the Chuckwagon dinner at Paws Up, I recommend spending 1-2 nights at Paws Up as you really don't want to miss a dinner at green o.
The only odd thing about our stay is that the staff at Social Haus wears multiple hats in being not just the wait staff, but also concierge and more. It was very odd to have them serve us lunch one moment and calling them later to address housekeeping requests, booking us transportation to the Wilderness Outpost or bringing the car around. Having said that, the staff really goes out of their way to address our questions and requests in a prompt and efficient manner.
I would say some improvement is needed with housekeeping as they were a little inconsistent, such as not providing new towels (I placed used ones in the bathtub) or refreshing the snacks and laundry detergent. However, if you alert the staff at Social Haus, they do address any requests promptly.
Activities are shared with Paws Up guests. I highly recommend the cattle herding, canoe trip on Clearwater River, backcountry road trip to Garnet and fly fishing on Blackfoot River.
I really enjoyed staying at both resorts, but if I had a limited amount of time, I would definitely choose green o over Paws Up.

AMAZING food….which is a highlight of the Green O experience! If you go, at least one night, sit at the bar and watch the chef’s magic in action. We went down to Paws Up for a meal and quickly decided we’d rather go back to the Social Haus which is for Green O only guests.
Note as Green O guests the entire Paws Up facility is at your disposal. So many activities so little time…we did ATV, UTV, horseback riding, canoeing, rafting, sporting clays (twice) and paintball…whew! Paintball was my favorite, not my husband’s 😆
This is a 5-star experience AND it’s new so be patient as there are a few minor “issues” that are getting smoothed out…

My husband and I enjoyed the most romantic and delicious night at the Green O. The homes, treehouses, and restaurant are as breathtaking as the nature-fulled property it all sits on. Chef Brandon, Pastry Chef Christina, and the rest of the team made us plate after plate of colorful, power-packed food from the Tasting Menu. An explosion in my mouth! The most impressive thing for myself was the ability to morph the plates from Venison and Bison to vegan! And not boring vegan. I mean the most flavorful vegan plates I've even tasted! To top it off, my husband is from Germany so he loves his beer. Not only did he like the beer, he tried wine for the first time and enjoyed it as well! Manager, Buck was so helpful and truly appreciated. It was a Valentine's to remember! Thank you to everyone at The Green O!

It was soooooooooo exciting to have an experience for adults only that allowed for fine dining, excursions, experiences and more. We wanted to go glamping and weren’t sure what to expect. Now we are forever spoiled by this!!!! And can’t consider anywhere else for that experience.
This was the most amazing 5 star experience of our life. My wife and I went expecting a unique experience but this exceeded all expectations. Don’t hesitate .. just go. Words can’t describe. You won’t regret it.
We just left and I have never experienced luxury like this. We had thought we had experienced 5 star service and food before but Green o takes it to the next level !! It is 100 percent worth the cost!! Looking at our calendars for a return trip.
