The Cliff Hotel

We went to Jamaica for our first time in February, and stayed for over a week at The Cliff Hotel. What a fantastic place! It truly embodies the Jamaican "No Worries"! ...just a top notch property. I will try and break it down in a way that does it justice....

We went to Jamaica for our first time in February, and stayed for over a week at The Cliff Hotel. What a fantastic place! It truly embodies the Jamaican "No Worries"! ...just a top notch property. I will try and break it down in a way that does it justice. First, the ROOMS. We stayed in a 1 bedroom suite on second floor. It was wonderful to have the separate living area and two balconies, just for more room to spread out. However, just fyi, all the rooms (not sure about the villas) faced the water, and I think we would have been happy in any of them. Though the rooms are not right on the ocean, we found we didn't miss that as we still could see it, and the grounds (which were beautifully and impeccably kept --- shoutout to the groundspeople) and pool tropical views were gorgeous. The rooms were beautiful and pristine. Lots of storage and space. I read another review about there was real housekeeping here, and they were spot on. Towels and products were wonderful, and we were always in great supply with everything, including our bottled water. Our morning clean service was top notch, and turn down service every night was wonderful, with a crisply freshened bed if we had napped, fresh towels and bathroom refresh, and curtains drawn for us. We had a nice surprise for my husband of Happy Birthday written in flowers and palm fronds on our bed when we arrived, and an bottle of champagne, with a lovely personal, hand-written note to him. The bed was VERY comfortable and linens top notch. The GROUNDS. Beautiful, perfectly kept. The pool was wonderful. Lots of places to lay around it. I saw someone working on it every morning to clean, and it was spotless. I appreciated that since I swam laps in it every day (though it was circular laps!). Chairs always available, towels always available, cheerful and fun pool bartender, and someone always checking on you. ALL employees always cheerfully greeted you. You really got the feeling a sense of pride in their jobs and their property. Nice bathrooms by the restaurant to use when by the pool. We heard the massages were wonderful and the workout room. There was a pool table outside and a ping pong table. The cliff side bar was absolutely fantastic, as were the bartenders! We loved to end the day there watching the sunset- did that almost every day, unless we went out for dinner at a place that was on the water and caught the sunset there--- Though we felt the best sunset view was at our hotel! There was just a really nice, laid back vibe at this hotel that made it easy to meet others in a relaxed setting. We met some wonderful people there. The RESTAURANT. We ate breakfast there almost every morning. We loved our morning breakfasts. That view. Wow. Can't be beat. They had Very good portions and excellent preparation on anything we ordered. The people who worked there were wonderful, and so so nice and professional, yet laid back and warm. Very very good food. Some days we ordered lunch or something to split poolside. We also got room service several times for a few meals, and it was all great and easy. OVERALL. From the time of making reservations and getting lots of help and good information with several phone calls pre trip, the front desk crew and management, and all involved with them (baggage assistance, welcome drink and freshen up wash cloth,etc.), they were absolutely wonderful. Always helpful, always a smile and greeting. We also found the cab service to be great. The hotel has cabs that were for the most part the same group of drivers, that we really loved to get to know and enjoy! ...and what was great is if we went off property to dinner at night, they would take you, and then all you had to do was call the hotel 15-20 min before you were ready, let them know when, and they would arrange for the cab to pick you back up, almost always the same driver. There was really a level of comfort to that, and a very nice touch of the hotel to have that option. The hotel does not have an elevator, but even though I have bad knees, I did not find the stairs too difficult, nor the property. Once you get your bearings, you could walk all the way to the cliffs without stairs from the main level, once you figured out where the walkway ramps were vs. stairs. We loved that it was a smaller, elegant property vs one of the huge impersonal places. Overall I would highly recommend this property, and no wonder it gets consistently good ratings! Run, don't walk to book. :)

My wife and I have been coming to Negril for years. We finally decided to step up and try the Cliff Hotel and we did not regret it! The property is simply magnificent from the impeccable landscaping to sun lounge pads on the cliff. There is plenty of room to find an intimate spot to totally chill out. The room was very well appointed with REAL maid service every day. They also provided bottle waters each day which helps tremendously on warm days. Our room had a spacious balcony with table and comfy chairs making it a great spot for morning coffee. It does all comes at a cost, however... The food and beverages here are very expensive. Be prepared if you decide to dine at the hotel restaurant or have drinks at the bar to pony up big time! The good news is there are plenty of alternative (local) options for food nearby. Taxi's are easy to hire and that area of Negril is still very safe even after dark. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay and we would highly recommend this hotel.

The situation is stunning, a few miles out of town, in the extreme west on low cliffs with dolphins sometimes at your feet. The rooms and beds and garden and pool and cliff and pool bars are all excellent.Plenty of loungers and choice of sun or shade.Genuinely described as exclusive. Well staffed with very friendly people. Great massage, and excellent free yoga guru!Very quiet when we were there.About a $20 taxi ride to the middle of the Negril beach strip.Diving off the cliffs is the way to swim in the sea (and is not for the faint hearted). Use mozzie deterrent. The food in the cliff side restaurant was generally excellent. We wanted just to chill out and read for a week so opted for the full meal deal which was good value but not something to do if you are watching your weight. Everything seemed freshly cooked so took a while. There were two minor niggles that the soup available did not change until we mentioned it , and ice cream flavours were very limited. However the whole week exceeded our expectations. For us the highlight was breakfasting (3 course!)under a tree on the restaurant veranda watching the seabirds, including between 0800 and 0900, beautiful white tailed tropic birds which nest nearby.

I have been to negril more than 10x and i have never stayed up on the cliffs because i always loved being on the beach. The Cliffs Hotel changed that feeling the second i got there. The staff, the location, everything about this hotel is perfect. I can recommend this hotel with full certainty that you will love the rooms and property. The landscape of the property is absolutely gorgeous. The food there is incredible. Taji was amazing in assisting us with an upgraded honeymoon 1br deluxe suite. Cant say enough great things about this hotel

This resort is really amazing. Super quiet and relaxing. I would definitely come back. Great rooms very spacious. It has very nice natural pools and great restaurant. we really enjoyed the breakfasts.

I sit here reminiscing on the trip my girlfriend and I just returned from and I am still in awe and at a loss for words. We were greated by Vernon, who was such an amazing host along with a staff who were always pleasant and attentive to details. As good as all this was it was just the cherry on top. The rooms were immaculate and the grounds were pristine. The views were majestic from every angle and social media worthy without a doubt. With all that said, my girlfriend and I enjoyed the natural salt water pool the most. Take it from me, watching the sunset from here will be the highlight of your trip. It was romantic, therapeutic, and rejuvenating. Our future wedding destination? Stay tuned 😉

The Cliff quiet, clean, modern, friendly staff, complimentary natural cucumber ginger welcome drink (would love one everyday), complimentary daily fitness class, decent size gym for vaca (1 treadmill, free weights, mates, bench, 2-3 pieces of old equipment, water), exemplary spa service run by veteran masseuse who has worked at the top 1-5 hotels in Jamaica. The candle kept all mosquitoes away (no issue in room). Feels like you have the entire resort to yourself. This is our second stay. Initially I wanted a room near the water to hear the waves but I wasn’t sure about the other hotels and where to book (avoid bugs, old run down, request a hut for ocean view, etc). I didn’t want a bad room. At a Cliff resort, all the rooms are clean with a good view. The fitness pavilion for classes is through the spa after the 2 outdoor massage rooms at the end. I regret I booked spa service the morning of checkout and didn’t have time for a massage or additional services. Carolyn provided the best facial I’ve ever experienced (with the massage of my upper body). Magic. Small and effective. The Cliff conveniently in 10-15 min walking distance of Murphy’s (my favorite - bring cash, go early and have front desk call & ask what’s on menu) and Just Natural (prefer jewelry and natural juices). Sharks about 30 minutes, will pass Ricks Cafe, Ivan’s, Tensing Ping, convenience store on the way. Sharks and Murphy’s food is cooked while you wait. Cliff hotel for the win again. Rate: 4.5/5.0. We will stay here again or stop and visit the spa. Zest restaurant - 1.0/5.0 - the food taste bad but we only ate there for dinner (bread and water good, curry goat - nice serving size different than I ever tasted smoked/bbq favor texture was not for me (we eat curry goat frequently - decided maybe this is gourmet/fancy curry goat) salad small but good) housekeeping (4.5/5.0) could tell the difference bw the day and night housekeeper, spa/fitness classes 5/5, resort/landscape/romantic spots (5.0/5.0), room (4.5/5.0) - there was a smell in the bathroom shower, had to work the shower just right for warm water (turn hot almost all the way and 1/4 of cold). service (5/5), never crowded, no fake nice real authentic hospitality but not intrusive. Recommendations- curtains on patio. I feel asleep a couple times on the couch and would love additional privacy.

Wow - what an amazing place!!! My husband and I spent 5 nights at the Cliff Hotel and stayed in Villa 1. It was magical. Our villa was spacious, comfortable, and simply lovely. Kenton (and others) who cleaned our villa kept it impeccably neat and made us feel so special....

Kenton (and others) who cleaned our villa kept it impeccably neat and made us feel so special. The views are spectacular, the pool amazing, and the food was outstanding. We took advantage of the morning activities and enjoyed yoga, pool cardio, and tai chi. We also had several spa treatments - all exceptional. The massage was one of the best I have ever had. I have to say that most impressive, however, was the staff. The people who work there are truly what made our stay exceed expectations. They all made us feel like family and it was pure joy. I could name them all but, for fear of accidentally leaving someone out, I won't. Thank you to all of you! I enthusiastically recommend a stay at the Cliff Hotel!

Place was amazing, entire staff was very welcoming and friendly. We did not leave the resort for our entire stay. Drinks and food were exceptional. Rooms are very spacious and comfortable. We would recommend this place to anyone.

We had the best time at the Cliff Hotel and cannot wait to return. From the second we arrived, everything was a complete paradise. The hotel's grounds are stunning - I immediately felt relaxed and at peace when we checked in. The hospitality was unmatched - everyone was so friendly, welcoming, and accommodating. The food was insanely delicious - we planned to eat off-site a few nights because we assumed we would get bored of the menu, but we ended up having every meal at the hotel for our 5-day stay - and never got bored! And the views!!! I, similar to another reviewer, have always thought a "beach vacation" needed a beach - I was wrong. I never missed having sand during our stay at The Cliff Hotel, because the cliff cabana set-up was perfect for relaxing and exactly what we were looking for in a beach holiday. Special shout-outs to Rochelle, who was with us every morning at breakfast, O'Neil, our waiter at dinner who was so helpful, and Vernon the GM - you each made our stay unforgettable. Thank you to Colin for whipping our butts during the morning workouts overlooking the water! Looking forward to booking our next trip. We miss it so much!

We spent 5 days at the Cliff Hotel and are already planning our next trip back. Everything was seamless from the pick up at the airport, to check in, meals, etc. The staff is exceptional; they take the time to learn your names, your preferences, and give recommendations. The sunsets are like no other I have ever seen and the grounds of the hotel are beautiful. Our room was huge with a spacious deck. It felt like we were staying in a beautiful mansion versus a hotel.

It’s a beautiful place I have so much fun with my lovely fiancé. It was quiet. The staff was wonderful Adrian Vernon they are awesome Will be back for our wedding, there The food was amazing. Best place for a sunset
