Great stay at the American Club! Lived up to the expectations. We're staying in MKE for a couple weeks and heading to American club for the weekend. It was suburb. The staff was incredible. We received a room upgrade from the AMEX FHR perk along with a bottle of win. We also loved the chocolate turtles. Having an in-demand shuttle was also great. We enjoyed the Kohler Design Center and tour. Loved this weekend. Only point of improvement: we didn't really care for the pub in the hotel. The breakfast and everything else was great.

Wonderful winter getaway! Everyone went out of their way to make our stay memorable. Enjoyed the history tour from the concierge, deep soaking tub in our room and relaxing day at the spa. Breakfast in the Wisconsin Room featured French pastries made on site and Sarah made delicious suggestions for our entrees. Dinner at Blackwolf lodge was very cozy, the pork chops were really good. Ended our stay with a stop at Frozen Fairways which was really beautiful, even tried our hand at curling! We were able to go midweek and take advantage of a number of specials. Highly recommend!

My wife and I had the opportunity to stay at The American Club in December- the hotel is like a winter wonderland! We stayed in the Herbert V. Kohler suite. It is very possibly the most luxurious hotel room I have ever stayed in. The bathrooms amaze with all the top end Kohler fixtures. We ate dinner one evening in The Wisconsin Room. The food was superb and the service was relaxed but so professional. The staff throughout the hotel was friendly, efficient, and helpful. My compliments on a hotel that impresses - even for a couple that has stayed in many ultra-luxury hotels.

If I had to sum up our visit to the American Club, I would say with one word: memorable. Not just because of the place, but the people. After all, the name says it all. When you think of Club, you think of a collection of like-minded individuals. And at the American Club, you get not only a five star facility, but also a five star collection of staff.
When we first arrive, we were greeted by the nicest valet staff we had ever came across: Zach and Alex. our amazing host Ethan. We mentioned to him that we were there for our anniversary, and he gave us an incredible upgrade! It didn’t stop there. That night we were greeted with champagne and beautiful chocolate as well as a card that said happy anniversary with my name on it. And again, this is all within an hour of arriving. Leanne and Breanna did a really good job as our concierges. They were able to connect us with the Koehler design centre which got a set up for a tour at the Kolher center. The tour was spectacular, and that night we retired to the Wisconsin around where we had some delicious steak frites (I recommend it!). Our waitress was Olivia, which did a good job.
The next morning we got up and went back to the Wisconsin Room had a delicious breakfast. Sam was our waitress. We liked her not only because she was sweet and professional, but it was also interesting to hear how some of the locals lived Destination Kolher. That and we thought her a little kid that she told us about was adorable!
We did some shopping is at the local shopping centre and came back to grab some shakes at The Green House. Now I will admit this is where the part of the trip was not so great. The manager there named Ayana was completely rude and disrespectful when we tried to ask for a highly recommended sundae. We were mortified by her behaviour. No worries, when we talk to the front desk, a manager by the name of Shuvi took care of the matter immediately!!! We fetl way better and continued our trip for the coming days.
However, one of the best part of the trip was the tour of the hotel that was given by Ingo. One of the first amazing things that we found out was how the name international club came to be. The story is so beautiful and yet so American at the same time. Both my partner and I just felt amazing and we are proud to be Americans. Something that we, given the current climate in the country, is tough to feel from time to time. And yet here is a getaway to a five star resort that takes away all those woes in worries.
Lastly, we have to give a shout out to our Cleaning Lady Sultane who did a fantastic job. Every time we went back in the room, she left a cleaner than when we left it. And the turndown service was top tier!
So, to sum it up, if I had to write American Club on a scale of 1 to 10, I will give it a 15. Even that number is not doing it justice. It is arguably one of Wisconsin’s best secrets, if not America’s. I highly highly highly recommend American Club. Save your money for one of the most amazing stays you whatever experience. I know we’ll be back for sure. :-)

I travel with a little crochet mouse - when I returns to my room, they even had it's robe n slippers in a little American Club tray. ❤. We came for a holiday party and I'll definitely return in the future.

Spa staff called security to have us removed for having a cell phone on silent mode with no other patrons in the spa at that time. Unbelievable - stay far away from this place. At $600 + why would you expect to be treated this way.
We booked a reservation at the Carriage house at the American Club in Kohler Wi for the night of Dec 13, 2023. We checked in and used the spa until our room was ready. Around 7:30pm that night we went to use the Spa and while on silent mode with no other patrons in the spa at that time we had our phones with us. Again, there were no other patrons in the spa at the time and our phones were always on silent mode. We were then harassed by multiple staff to tell us that they had a new policy in place and no electronics were allowed at the spa. We informed the staff that we needed to be in contact with others for health concerns and that if any guests in the spa complained we would leave. We also informed the staff that at no time when we booked the reservation, or on arrival at check in, or at check in at the spa or any posted signs or at any time were we ever informed of this change in policy. The Spa Staff decided to call security and have my wife and I removed from the Spa. The manager of the American Club intervened as the 2 security guards stood by and told us that she agreed this was a mistake that the policy was new and the staff was not trained yet.
While there are many reasons guests may need to be accessible on their phones (if put in silent mode so as not to disturb others). I understand that Kohler and the American club are free to make any policy they chose. What I can not understand is why they would not tell their guest beforehand and before they take their money to stay there.
We believe we should be compensated for the time and expense to travel to the American Club for their failure to inform us of this change in policy.
While we will not be returning to the American Club due this foolish policy and the way they felt the need to call security, they should at least inform guests before they make a reservation to stay.

The staff at the American Club was beyond incredible. From the moment you check in, pick up your car, return to the resort, all spot on. The spacious room was lovely, comfortable bed, cozy comforter. During the afternoon rain they had games out in the main area and live background music at all times.
Even though we booked months in advance there were no spa appointments available. This was rather disappointing. I am surprised they don't reserve some availability for guests.
The food was a huge disappointment. The Wisconsin Room, Horse and Plow and room service were severely lacking top to bottom; food quality and staff training. Robert in Horse and Plow was a welcome standout with great service and beer recommendations. The cheese curds are delicious, meatloaf ok.
The restaurants outside of the main grounds required a resort fee to make a reservation that was not put toward your dinner. We ordered room service our last night. The food was cold (it can happen with room service) but the shrimp cocktail was actually still frozen.
Bottom line, the resort is gorgeous, the grounds are very well maintained and quite spectacular in spring. The staff is incredibly professional and very well trained. You will just need to eat elsewhere.

Don't bother inquiring about having a wedding here. My fiance and I really liked the American Club and it was on our top picks to have a wedding at. I sent an email asking for more information and got a response from the Wedding Sales Manager, Andrea, not long after. We had sent a few emails but she did not respond to them after the 3rd one. I waited a week and emailed the wedding inquiry page again and again, no response. I even ran into her at a Madison bridal expo when I was there looking for vendors and she was very short with me and told me she would get back to me and again, never did. Really disappointed in this venue and even more the lack of communication.

I had a great time at the American Club in December 2022! The property was decorated so nicely for Christmas and had such a relaxing atmosphere. My fiance and I were there celebrating our engagement and everyone was so welcoming. We got to ice skate by ourselves and got to do some Olympic Curling at one of the resorts they own on the property!
Additionally, it was so nice that we received a box of chocolates and two bottles of wine to celebrate our engagement!
I did have a small amount of time to check out the Sports Core Gym and the Spa and both amenities were very nice!
We hope to come back for future celebratory events.

We are staying at the American Club and attending the Kohler Food & Wine Festival. We last attended this event 11 years ago. I am sorry to say that this facility appears to have not changed at all in the last 11 years. We are staying in a room that does not have adequate hot water to even take a hot shower, much less fill the beautiful jacuzzi tub in the bathroom. The decor in the bedroom is outdated by at least 20 years and it shows. The television provided in the room sits in an armoire and even when pulled all the way out is not comfortably seen from the bed.
As far as the festival events, things definitely seem to have downgraded since we were last here. One of the events we attended today, Burgers & Wines, the burgers were already sitting out at our place settings when we arrived and were stone cold….not a great match for any wine! The kickoff event we attended on Thursday evening was lackluster and provided little in the way of entertainment beyond the food and wine available for tasting. The Taste of the Vine event, usually held in the dazzling Kohler Design Center, has been moved to the same space as the event we went to on Thursday night, the Beacon Center, which is a mile off property and offers nothing in the way of entertainment. It appears to be a partially finished space perhaps used for catalogue photo shoots??? So our anticipation for this evening is that it will be a repeat of last night, but with a few more options as far as food and wine, but with a much higher price tag.
Overall, I would rate this property and experience 3 star, at best, which is a huge disappointment. We have attended several Food & Wine Festivals here in the past and always came away more than pleased with the hotel and the experience. Not this time.
