The Albatroz is my favourite hotel in Portugal and I have been coming here for years. Is is a place of utter beauty but without any stuffiness whatsoever. The rooms are fabulous with incredible beds, glorious bathrooms and stunning views over the bay of Cascais. The interior design of the hotel manages to be both traditional and modern, with lovely blue and white touches throughout. Not a single detail has been overlooked.
The food is superb— we usually ate at the bar— a space that seems to float over the beach— it is an intimate and cosy space. Wonderful staff and the best location in Cascais, steps from the train station, right on the beach, and close to everything.
This last trip we decided to forego staying in Lisbon altogether, and went directly to the Albatroz, with easy day trips into the capital. It is a wonderful place to come home to at the end of a sightseeing and shopping day!

November was the second time we have stayed at this hotel and it a truly delightful experience. It is difficult where to start with my complements.
The hotel position and its views over the mouth of the Tragus, the gorgeous patio inches from the sea and the bar where meals can be served, the elegant dinning room, our lovely bedroom and balcony with its spectacular views over the bay with its fishing boats coming and going, the marina with its forest of masts.
But perhaps the most precious feature of the hotel is its staff. I simply cannot fault them.

We had spent 4 nights each in Porto and Lisbon before coming to Cascais to relax at the end of our holiday. We stayed for 4 nights in a De Luxe double room with sea view and really enjoyed our stay. Everything was excellent - we had breakfast in our room twice and the standard and presentation of the food was exceptional. We also had a really fantastic dinner in the restaurant - great food and service. The location and views are great - and being able to walk to bars and restaurants is an added bonus. Many previous reviewers have said that this is a very special hotel, and it really is. I am sure we will return to Cascais, but only if we can stay at The Albatroz!

After spending a week on a luxury cruise from Barcelona to Lisbon we ended our vacation with a two night stay at this wonderful hotel in Cascais. The picture they use on their TripAdvisor advertisement was the exact view we had from our room. Being that close to the ocean from our balcony was beyond exquisite. The level of service and attention to detail made this stay worth every penny. And the location to shopping and restaurants could not have been better. Do yourself a favor - visit Cascais if for no other reason than to stay at the Albatroz Hotel!

We stayed here for 4 nights and loved every second of it. This hotel was like something out of a Bond film. Every room in the hotel is unique with its own character. We had a room with a sea view (which I highly recommend reserving). The rooms were all charming, large with comfortable beds and amazing views off the (mostly) private patios. The pool was super clean and a nice area to spend time with a drink from the bar. Breakfast every morning was bountiful with fresh pastries, fruits, eggs, juices and coffee. The views from around the restaurant and pool area are the best in Cascais. Walk out the door and you are steps away from the town and some great shops, restaurants and bars. The train stop is also steps away if you want an easy way into Lisbon. We cannot wait to return!

Understated luxury and comfort
Just a gorgeous spot.
Amazing breakfast, with spectacular views.
Rooms with lovely interior decoration.
Smack bang in the middle of Cascais, 2 minutes walk to the Railway station for trips to Lisbon and connections further afield. Great shopping, bars and restaurants a minutes walk away.

We stayed for 11 nights in room 98, a ground floor room opening onto the swimming pool. It had a bath with a powerful shower and good temperature. The bed was enormous and comfortable, and the air conditioning was very good. I think there are only two ground floor rooms, 98 and 96. 96 next to us, has a walk in shower and no bath.
The staff were very friendly and efficient, but a stand out waitress was Catia: always smiling and went the extra mile to enrich our experience and all other guests.
We had dinner in the restaurant 3 times. We got the impression, the menu did not change and although good quality, it was quite expensive compared to the local restaurants.
We had lunch on the bar terrace every day bar one and it was excellent with many choices.
We had a very enjoyable stay and would come again.
One small quibble was that waiter service around the pool was erratic. Many times I had to go to the bar to order drinks. The waiters did not patrol the pool area as often as we would have liked. Also, used glasses were not cleared away in a timely manner.
One bit of excitement, The couple in room 96 next to ours were well known actors. We sat on loungers next to them for 7 days along with another UK couple. Sadly, although my wife thought she recognised the lady next door she thought she may have been a dancer, not a film and TV star. We had long conversations about restaurants and where to go in Cascais.
It was only after they had left, the other couple told us who the actors were. And no, I am not going to tell you who they are.
At one point my wife asked the husband if she could ask a question about his wife. Looking back, he looked a bit perturbed. Was she going to ask about the actors the wife had worked with, ask for a selfie, quiz her on Hollywood or TV programs she had been in? But no, my wife asked him if his wife had ever been a dancer? The look on his face was of relief. She doesn't know who we are; we can just have a normal relationship. (His wife did ballet at school).
Great stay, thank you Hotel Albatroz.

We enjoyed a great six day stay at the hotel and were particularly impressed with:
- the waiting, dining and bar staff - very friendly and professional
- the view from our balcony
- housekeeping were excellent
- the food - breakfast was very good and had we had lovely egg dishes made to order and it is nice to have breakfast on the terrace overlooking the beach - lunch had one of the best selections I have seen with a great mix of lighter and heavier dishes (if you want a table outside, book at breakfast) - and dinner was of a very good standard
- the drink, reasonable prices and good cocktails
- the ideal location
This would have been a five star review apart from the problem noted by other reviewers of sunbed availability. On two of the six days we were there we could not get a sunbed in the afternoon. I asked reception if they could provide more sunbeds (there was room) - they said they would check but nothing happened. The usual problem of people leaving their towel/belongings for long periods....and even if no belongings had been left - only hotel towels - staff did not remove these....
Other more minor issues:
- nearly all the staff were great - but reception was variable and at times not helpful (suggesting restaurants that were closed)
- bathroom - as many people have stated - the bath/shower is very old fashioned and it is difficult to get in and out of the bathtub
- not keen on allowing cigar smoking when people are eating outdoors
- sometimes there was noise from the public beach but there is nothing the hotel can do about this and it did not bother us too much
However, despite these issues it was a great stay and we would thoroughly recommend the hotel, particularly if you use it as a base to explore the surrounding area.

All the front desk staff were incredibly helpful, friendly and attentive. They helped us make last minute dinner reservations and also booked us a driver who took us on a private tour to Casa da Roca and Sintra. The breakfast has many hot and cold options and the restaurant is beautiful with indoor and outdoor seating overlooking the ocean. The pool has an amazing view of the Ocean. Our only regret is that we did not book a longer stay!

A 5 star rating for a 5 star hotel! Perfectly situated at the edge of the Cascais, so easy to drop down into the melee of quirky shops and delightfully diverse restaurants - or head out by train or car to visit nearby Portuguese pearls like Sintra and Belém. Our room with balcony overlooking the Atlantic was stunning. The hotel was stylish and comfortable, exuding quality, but not at all pretentious. Full marks to the hotel and staff for treading that fine line between being attentive while letting us do our thing and be ourselves. Highly recommended.

We stayed at Hotel Albatroz for the second time this summer, having superb memories from our first stay, a few years ago.
The hotel is perfectly situated for exploring Cascais and there are plenty of bars and restaurants nearby to visit. Make sure you book to eat in the Albatroz restaurant while you're there. The food and service is impeccable and a feast for the eyes and stomach with lots of little surprises and treats along the way. Breakfast was tasty and offered many choices, including an array of homemade bakes and pastries. I especially loved the little apple pastries - I had one every day at the end of my breakfast. The hotel is perched on the cliffs over a fabulous little beach and has a beautiful and serene outlook over the sea. The pool area is attractive and well cared for with a choice of loungers overlooking the ocean or in shaded palmed areas around the pool. Fabulous staff provide an attentive food and drink service or you can choose to lunch on the open terrace bar, under parasols with the sound of the waves in your ears.
Staff are brilliant, throughout the hotel, from the moment you step in. They are professional, warm, friendly and helpful at all times - fantastic ambassadors for the hotel! Housekeeping staff keep and refresh the rooms to a high standard. The hotel and rooms have such a sense of coolness with their cool blue hues, light and airy furnishings and beautiful tiles and hangings. The hotel arranged pick up and drop off from and to Lisbon Airport for us. This all went smoothly and the car service was excellent.
Our outward flight from Manchester was delayed by two days due to a power cut at Manchester Airport and the hotel rearranged our room and pick up arrangements perfectly for us without any fuss, all at the last minute.
This was a memorable stay for us - we are already planning and anticipating our next stay. Thank you to all staff members who gave us such a wonderful, relaxing and thoroughly fabulous break.

We loved our three night stay at the Albatroz. Our sea-view room was lovely, bed was comfy, shower hot and the carafe of port was a nice touch. Breakfast was delicious, including omelettes available to order and freshly squeezed OJ. We also tried the a la carte dinner in the restaurant, which we enjoyed although the whole restaurant felt a bit dark - we had to use our phone torches to read the menu! The outdoor pool was also great, and the bar/terrace for pre-dinner drinks. The hotel is well-located, and we walked to Boca da Inferno and a couple of other restaurants. We were a bit nervous about the parking, but didn’t have to worry, as we just pulled up at the hotel and our car was taken care of and parked for us. We would definitely stay here again.

Breakfast terrific and as the weather was poor during our 9 night stay we were so looked after by having elongated breakfast on the terrace or in the bar.
Got to say a huge thank you to Alex and all staff in the restaurant. Food superb and just can’t be faulted. View from restaurant on to the beach are mesmerising.
A short stroll into Caicais and thoroughly recommend O’Pescador restaurant where the staff remembered us as well.
Hotel Albatroz you are simply FABULOUS and we will be back again.
Huge thanks to you ALL.
