A relaxing and indulgent experience! The only other "hot spring" experiences I have had, involved pumping water into a swimming pool, so I really appreciated the more natural experience of the running streams, waterfalls, etc, surrounded by the lush tropical plants. We also had a delicious dinner at the restaurant. Our server, Randall was both attentive and personable. I would recommend experiencing the springs in both daylight and nighttime. My only suggestion would be to include a map, as we discovered later in the evening a new area of pools that we had missed earlier.

You can really tell Tabacon is a great place to work as the staff are so friendly and welcoming. Special shout out to Greivin who made us feel so settled in so quickly. We stayed in the Honeymoon Suite with the Volcano views and enjoyed our room so much! We spent evenings swinging in the chair and soaking in our plunge pool with natural hot springs water…. So luxurious! The included breakfast was high quality and phenomenal service. We invested in the private dining experience and had such a wonderful time. Our host Davy & Chef Daniel created an amazing experience for us. The food was very high quality & perfect wine pairings with each course. Lastly we really enjoyed our time at the hot springs, we made sure to enjoy a couple of visits there and had a nice lounging afternoon in a cabana with some lunch and drinks. The hot springs water made my skin so soft. You do need to shuttle down to the hot springs, I didn’t realize that when I booked this place, so I was a bit put off at first that they weren’t on the same grounds as the hotel. But the shuttle is constantly cycling there and it is a very short ride. The shuttle always smells fantastic and was very clean and most of the rides it was just the two of us, so it wasn’t a big deal. Overall really happy with our choice to stay at Tabacon. It is truly a luxury resort with great service and great people! Lastly a shout out to housekeeping who always had our suite in tip top shape. It’s a big job and they did it well!

Visiting Tabacon Thermal Resort & Spa is like walking into the most welcoming, relaxing and stress free environment we have ever experienced. Words can’t express how wonderful our stay was at Tabacon. The restaurants, the rooms, the thermal springs were fabulous. The only thing better than those things was the warmth and kindness of the staff. Everyone was wonderful. We were particularly treated like family by Greivin. 5 stars are not enough. This resort gets 500 stars. Thank you everyone at Tabacon.

My husband and I stayed at Tabacon for 5 nights. From the moment we arrived until we left, it was a wonderful experience. It was our first 5 star hotel experience and we are so glad we splurged to stay here. Even though we weren't in the fancier suites we were treated with the same appreciation and care. The consistency of the warmth and genuineness of the "pura vida" attitude was delightful. I think I smiled for 6 straight days. Accommodation: We stayed in a king orchid suite. It was so clean and the bed was really comfortable. We had a completely unobstructed view of the volcano. We were lucky that it didn't rain at all the first week in March and we had clear to 80% clear views the entire trip. The whole property is lush and meticulously maintained, I saw so many birds and butterflies on the resort. Every person greets you with such hospitality and the entire resort smells incredible. Food and drinks: The complimentary breakfast is delicious. I ate an omlet and fruit every day while my husband loved tasting the Costa Rican breakfast dishes. We ate one lunch and one dinner at Ave, and the food there was excellent. Jafeth served us both times and he is the kindest, most sincere, and helpful person. He gave excellent recommendations and his attention to detail and service was top notch. Jafeth created such a memorable and positive experience all around. We ate one dinner at Tucanes, it was tasty and our server, Rodrigo, was lovely. We also had room service one night and that was delicious as well. Drinks and dishes vary between restaurants and bars so there's plenty of opportunity to try different things. Spa: I had an 80 minute Swedish massage with Siria. It was one of the best massages I've ever had! It was enhanced by the soothing sound of the springs and dense vegetation surrounding the treatment area. She used the perfect pressure and gave careful attention to every aspect of my body. The pre and post-treatment relaxation and care were also lovely and nothing felt rushed. Hot Springs: It was a super easy five minute walk from the main resort to the complex with the springs and spa but they have a shuttle that runs every five minutes so if you prefer to ride you can do that instead. We enjoyed finding new sections of the springs and moving between warmer, cooler, and hotter areas. We were so glad we brought water shoes based on other reviews because there are paved and unpaved sections and it gave us peace of mind. We had drinks and lunch in Shangri la gardens one day and at the swim up bar for lunch on a different day, both were excellent and the service was amazing. The springs never felt too busy and it was easy enough to move around and find a less populated area. Services: Fabian with Jacamar at Tabacon was incredibly helpful! We arranged two round-trip private rides into town for dinners (highly recommend checking out Don Rufino and Tierra Mia). Every driver was super friendly and professional. He also helped us book a last minute private Sloth and Bird tour that was out of this world! Maria Paula was also super warm and a great conversationalist. She really goes out of her way to make guests feel comfortable and ensure they are having a wonderful experience. My husband used the gym most days and it was well appointed. It was an incredible experience, one we will cherish for years to come!

My husband and I had a day pass at Tabacon, and it was one of our favorite experiences while visiting La Fortuna. Spending time in nature's luxury was the perfect way to end our vacation. We are already looking forward to returning. We also opted for the Ephemeral Dinner, an experience we would highly recommend, particularly for those celebrating a special occasion. The thoughtfully curated dish and wine pairings were nothing short of exceptional, each course a testament to culinary artistry. Beyond the flavors, the insight shared about the ingredients and techniques added a rich layer of appreciation to the meal. Our deepest gratitude to Brandon and Rodrigoz for their impeccable craftsmanship and hospitality. The entire evening felt like a work of art—one we will remember for years to come.

The best part of our stay was the staff. The check- in process was easy, each say the staff was friendly, the shuttle driver was nice. We had lots of questions before we arrived and changed our dates- and the staff was very accommodating. Also- terrific was Kevin who works for Jacamar to set up adventure tours. He was very knowledgeable. Because our dates changed we stayed in the orchid suite for one night which was beautiful and comfortable. We were very happy there but switched back to our original reservation which was in honeymoon suite. It was amazingly! Big and comfortable with a large balcony! Breakfast was great and had many options. All the restaurants were great. We especially likes the Thai food at Shangri La at the hot springs. Delicious! The crafted drinks are amazing and worth the price. Of course- the hot springs are great. Take advantage of Shangri La area. Complimentary yoga was a great experience too. I hope one day to go back.

Lovely resort, but the location is in 90 decree heat and the main activity is hiking. Ugh.

The main local activity is hiking the mountains - but it's 90 degrees. And when one returns to the resort, looking forward to a nice dip in a cool pool - you get a hot springs pool only. I know. It's a thermal hot springs resort, so - of course. But would be nice to have a cool pool too. Liked being able to grab a sandwich in the lobby bar. The nice restaurant: Food and service perfect. The casual one - also good. Staff were excellent and highly responsive, helpful, and friendly. The place is great - just wasn't wild about the 90 degree heat.

I want to say I worked with Alejandra Benavides, and she was absolutely amazing, she made my experience absolutely wonderful, she went above and beyond to make sure we had a fabulous experience. She kept in touch with me and even had a gift for us in our room. She deserves a raise; I am a Travel Agent on a VIP desk for Amazon and I must say she gave the best customer service, which is sometimes hard to find in people. Everyone at your hotel was fantastic. I think the Drink prices at the bar were a bit high especially with the price of the room, but it was still amazing.

We got just the day pass to go here to experience the top rated Hot Springs in law Fortuna. It was absolutely beautiful. We went a little early in the afternoon, and there was almost no one there, and it was almost like we had the place to herself. Once it started to get a little later and then it got more crowded and it wasn’t quite as nice, but we are even there for several hours.. If you want the top notch Hot Springs experience I agree that this gives you that. It is just very looks and feels very much in the middle of nature.

El Tabacon does not disappoint in terms of beautiful views and ambiance. The staff was equally beautiful. They were over the top friendly and welcoming. The only thing that was unexpected was that the main attraction tub in our honeymoon suite kept filling up with water with dirt. We were told it was from the volcano but again that wasn’t expected and changed our experience. That was what attracted me to renting the room in the first place and for the price I expected it to be perfect. The staff provided us dinner on them to try to make up for it.

Stayed only one night and it was worth every penny. Spent most of the time in the hot springs. Having a dedicated area for resort guests was really nice. The shuttle to/from hot springs to the resort property was quick and easy, takes literally 1 minute to get there. Our dinner at the Tucanes restaurant was one of the best meals we had during our entire trip. Recommend the mussels w/ chorizo. The included breakfast buffet in the morning was fantastic. We spend the first few days of our trip in Fortuna at an airbnb doing all the adventure type activities in the area so it was nice coming here for a day to relax before we dove out to the coast. Love that they open the hot springs up for guests at 8am. Was able to squeeze that in and breakfast before we checked out. They let you use the hot springs as long as you want after you check out as well. Entire staff is beyond friendly. Forgot a pair of shoes in the car when we checked in and they had them at our doorsteps within 5 minutes after we called.

To be honest, we normally choose more rustic hotels in CR, but I was intrigued that I could use my Hilton points, so we decided to check Tabacon out. It's definitely an upscale place, and very pretty, but I wonder how many guests realize that there are so many fabulous small lodges in the area that offer a lovely experience for so much less per night Some even have their own thermal pools. Tabacon's hot springs, of course, are very beautiful, but not perfect, and either a bit of a walk or shuttle ride from the accommodations. We were surprised at how long we waited for service, both to get our car (valet service is not my favorite) and at breakfast. The initial "tour" and explanation at breakfast were scripted and felt rushed to me. We've enjoyed more personal and genuine interactions st the smaller lodges. Lighting in the room was over complicated. It would take a few days to completely figure it out. There's also these weird doors outside the bathroom that open to reveal the shower. I suppose they're to provide a view while showering, but jokesters in my family would have a lot of fun with that from inside the bedroom. (Not everyone is there for s honeymoon.) Tabacon is probably popular for good reason. In my opinion, though, it's not a great fit for independent travelers who prefer not to be fussed over.
