We just spent a lovely few days in Athens and stayed at this hotel. The hotel itself is well situated and short walking distance to many of the attractions of the city. It was spotlessly clean which is the biggest compliment I can give to any hotel and all of the staff were really friendly and helpful. The food at the hotel was very good I ate in one evening and had a simple burger which was delicious. The breakfast service is great with a decent selection and the view from the 6th floor restaurant is brilliant with views across the city. There were some minor issues that lowered this review for example the bathroom seemed to have no ventilation (there was a cord we pulled but did nothing). There was a gym but it was a bit sparse many of the weights seemed to be missing but it did have three working treadmills.

We visited Athens in March and were lucky enough to stay at the St George Lycabettus hotel. The hotel is perfectly located, close enough to the city centre and the main tourist attractions while being in a quiet area. We had a Premium room with Acropolis view which was absolutely perfect (nice balcony with a fantastic view, good amenities such as a nespresso machine, spotless clean as the rest of the hotel). The hotel staff is incredibly professional and welcoming. From the room maids, whom did the most amazing job and were so kind to us, to the reception, bar and restaurant staff ! We spent 5 nights at the hotel and enjoyed every breakfast with the view, we had lunch once and dinner three times, as the food was absolutely delicious in addition to the atmosphere and the staff. If we visit Athens again we will for sure choose the St George hotel !

What a welcoming and comfortable hotel, with a perfect location for exploring Athens. And then, there is the extraordinary view of the Acropolis right from the rooftop restaurant. Be sure to give yourself a week to look around. We will definitely be back.

This medium size hotel is located on the top of Lycabettus with the commanding view of Athens and the Acropolis. We stayed there twice, before and after our cruise through the Greek Isles. The rooms are small, but we had a superior with a balcony and view of the Acropolis…spectacular! The great breakfast is on the top floor with a few of the city and the Acropolis, so even if you don’t get a room with a view, you can enjoy the view at breakfast. Also, there is a wonderful pool on the roof with a great bar. Because the hotel is located at the top of Lycabettus, you must walk down through a lovely residential area full of restaurants, cafes, and small boutiques to reach the more touristy areas. However, what goes down, must go up and unless you are in really good shape, take an Uber/taxi up the hill. Taxis are very unscrupulous, so my advice and Rick Steve’s Travel Guide is always take an Uber (which in Athens are taxis, but you know what you are going to pay because it shows up on your Uber account).

It's an amazing hotel with spectacular views. No surprise so many stars have stayed there. Thanks to its immaculate accommodations, fantastic concept, outstanding décor and art collection, St George Lycabettus is truly the perfect hotel in Athens. Central and calm, and featuring grand service and spectacular views, you’ll never want to leave. A special note to the breakfast, served in the upstairs terrace over looking the Acropolis and the sea. It’s an American breakfast and / or buffet with large choices, from local Greek delicacies, prosecco, and European pastries. Simply delicious. St. George Lycabettus is more than a hotel. It celebrates art de vivre. Taste Greek cuisine at La Suite Lounge and Le Grand Balcon restaurants, which provide views of the Acropolis and the Saronic Islands.

Beware...this is NOT a five star hotel. It is 3 star at best catering to large group tours from cruise lines etc. We paid for and were expecting a corner suite...what we got was two bedrooms with a very ugly wall partition pushed back to one side with holes in the celing to accomondate the movement of the door. The 'suite" side of the room was a folded bed with a poorly designed bedspread made to look like a couch with two plastic chairs beside a small coffee table. We paid over 900 Euros a night. I should have read the other reviews more carefully. I complained, and similar to another reviewer, we were "upgraded" into the Presidential Suite which clearly is the room used for people who are unhappy. It was a big, dated living room and bedroom with a limited view of the Parthenon but a great view of a dumpy apartment building next door with a row of trees on the terrace designed to block out some of the view. There is nothing presidential about the suite I cannot fault the poor empoyees at reception who tried their best...we would have loved to have able to cancel our resv and move into the Grande Bretagne where we had cocktails one night...now that is a 5 star hotel.

Great hotel. Rooms were comfy and the service was great. This hotel location was perfect and we could get to any of the local sites (Acropolis) and hotspots (Plaka) within 30 and 20 minutes respectfully. Pool was comfortable and the drinks plentiful in the rooftop bar. The only consideration when booking would be the floor you are on. We were on the 5th floor, directly below the breakfast area, as we had an Acropolis view room. We started hearing chairs scraping along the outdoor patio on the 6th floor breakfast area around 7am and while it didn't take away from our overall experience, it's just something you'll have to deal with for a bit (worth it for the Acropolis view from the room).

Couldn’t be less impressed. Started with hotel transportation. Booked through the hotel for $70 euro. What arrived was a yellow taxi we could have booked ourselves for $40. I think they know people will figure that out because they book it round trip and charge it before you arrive so we are stuck with it on the way out too. Shady. Awful. Arrived around 11. The room wasn’t ready which is fine. Started walking around Athens. Check in is at 3. We didn’t get a call that the room was ready until 5. We booked a corner suite two bedroom room with a view of the acropolis. They said there was a technical difficulty with the room and we were “upgraded” to the presidential suite. What an absolute joke. The room has a view of trashy alleyways. To see the acropolis you have to lean over the corner of the balcony. They were not all that apologetic. They made it sound like they were doing us a favor because the room is bigger. I don’t want a big room with a crappy view of an alley. I want a panoramic view of the acropolis. The hotel is dated. Big time. The room looks like it hasn’t been touched since the 80s. I could cry just looking at it. I wanted to sit on the balcony with a glass of wine and look at the acropolis. This has ruined the end of our trip to Greece. The customer service is poor at best. A staff member sort of followed us to the room and we couldn’t tell why. He didn’t talk to us and was trudging through the hallways. Realized he was for us when we got to the room and he looked to us for the key. Everywhere else we’ve been in Greece from restaurants to shops to planes and boats and attractions has had better service. Literally everywhere. I’m so disappointed. Do not stay here. For sure don’t pay for the presidential suite. Just go somewhere else like I would do if there were any other hotel rooms left in the city. I’d be checking out immediately if I had somewhere to go.

This is a small, comfortable hotel tucked away in a side street up the hill. We arrived before check in but were able to get to our room almost immediately. The room, while small and compact, was very nice and the bed comfortable. The bathroom is really small and two people inside at the same time is not recommended. But we managed for the 4 days we stayed there. The roof top restaurant has wonderful views to the Acropolis and good food. Service at lunch and evening was excellent, at breakfast it was hit or miss depending on how busy it got. We often had to signal several times to get the attention of the wait staff. The breakfast buffet is nice and offered many interesting food items, as well as cereals, fruit, yoghurt, pastries and more. We liked it very much. Besides the roof top restaurant side, there is also a roof top pool and bar and while it was always very busy, because it was hot in August in Athens, it was very nicely laid out. In summation, we had a great time at this hotel, enjoyed the sleep quality, the food for breakfast/lunch/ and dinner and would definitely stay there again. As other people commented, the hotel is on a hill and walking up and down to the main road, especially in hot weather, can be challenging. We did okay and explored some of the small coffee shops and eateries in that area.

I like this hotel. The rooms are not huge but are comfortable and well appointed. Bathrooms are good - the showers wake you up in the morning! I love that the rooms have Nespresso machines. The breakfast is good but not the best. Service is patchy. Food is good. Quite hard to get coffee - had to ask more than once most mornings. The roof top pool is pleasant, although a bit small but the FB team deliver prompt service.

We recently ate at the rooftop restaurant and had the special anniversary dinner. The decor of the restaurant seems a bit dated but it was comfortable except that it is an open air restaurant so if it's hot outside you definitely feel it in the restaurant. The multi course meal was gourmet, excellent but I didn't think it was Greek or Mediterranean in nature. All in all, we had an excellent dinner while looking out at an amazing view of Athens
