To start, we had a wonderful time in Jamaica - we loved the people and the food, but I wouldn't call this a five-star hotel. This was our first all-inclusive experience. Many people we talked to said this was not nearly as nice of a resort compared to other all-inclusives or even other Secrets We booked through TripGuy Travel - they were great and I can't fault them for the resort b/c it's certainly the nicest one in Montego Bay for what we wanted given we wanted somewhere close to the airport. The pools, beach and exterior grounds are gorgeous and the hotel itself is well kept and clean but the rooms are dated, especially the bathrooms. They need some major updating. When we saw the preferred side there is definitely a difference in terms of ambiance and overall look/feel. We didn't receive turndown or housekeeping until Day 3 after we provided feedback through the Hyatt App (I did love the functionality of the app). I will say they immediately addressed the feedback and the final two days service was excellent, and they did provide access to the Preferred side of the resort along with dinner at one of the Preferred restaurants with a reservation, which was great b/c the Wild Orchid restaurants do not take reservations. The food was great everywhere we ate throughout the resort - room service was just OK, and I would say Blue Mountain was our least favorite. The Breakfast Buffet was excellent. I mention this because the first night we went to dinner at 7:30, and we were told they may not be able to seat us before they close at 10. Thankfully we found one restaurant that got us in by 8:30. But this really shocked me so we ensured we were down for dinner by 5:45-6 every night to ensure we'd get it. Honestly the best food was the Jerk Chicken hut on the beach - HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Most of the staff is quite friendly but some bar service was not great and the drinks were incredibly weak. The pool bars were the best for service and drinks. Most of the restaurants the staff was friendly and throughout the resort the staff always say hello, etc. We did receive good advice prior to ensure we bring cash so we can tip throughout our stay and it does make a difference. We tipped room service, restaurants, buffets, concierge. Lastly, there was a lot of saving loungers at the pool and beach. People would save spots at 8am and then not come back for hours, which was incredibly frustrating. Overall, we loved Jamaica - the people and the food. We felt incredibly safe at the resort and outside the resort, but I would definitely re-consider staying at a Secrets especially after what we spent to only go Sun-Thurs.

We had a group of 6 seniors staying at Wild Orchid Feb. 26 - March 5. We are Platinum UVC members, and have stayed at multiple Secrets & Breathless resorts, since we joined 5 years ago. Although this is a beautiful resort, our stay was somewhat disappointing in several respects. Check-in We went Preferred Club, and the check-in process went very smoothly. We had booked a Preferred Ocean View King, and were told at check-in that no upgrades were available, as the Preferred rooms were 100% occupied. Room Our room was very nice. Plenty of storage space. Everything worked. Maid service was a bit spotty, however. One day we had no maid service at all until they came to turn down the bed for the night. A couple of other times they didn’t replace the hand towels in the bathroom. Restaurants We ate at every restaurant at least once, and a couple of times at the adjoining Breathless. The food was very good everywhere we went. But our dinner at Sofrito at Breathless was the best. Service once we got into the restaurants was good, but getting in was the issue. The resort was very crowded, and this resulted in some much longer than usual wait times. Our last night we ate at Portofino, and the meal was great. But we waited an hour and 40 minutes to be seated, despite the fact that we showed up right when it opened for the evening. Bars The bars were somewhat disappointing in several respects. The Piano Bar was the best bar in the place. The “bar” in the Preferred Club was a joke. Basically, it was a small table with bottles of liquor and mixers sitting on it. Selection was limited, and some very common drinks, e.g., mojitos, daiquiris, pina coladas, etc., were simply not available due to the rudimentary facility. On the other hand, the buffet setup at the Preferred Club was great. At the pool bar we encountered, for the first time ever at Secrets, employees who were borderline rude. More on this later. Entertainment There was live music every night on the outdoor stage by the Piano Bar, and it was very enjoyable. Plenty of seating. But very spotty wait service while listening to the music. Not much in the way of entertainment during the days. Caught a couple of the shows in the theater, and they were well done. Pool/Beach We spent most of our time at the Preferred Pool. It was very quiet. There is no bar at the Preferred Pool, so if you wanted a drink, you had 3 options: - Flag down a passing waitress, but they were mostly MIA. - Walk into the nearby Preferred Club, with its very limited capabilities. - Walk over to the Main Pool, which had a swim up bar. The beach is nice, but very small. Plenty of chairs there, but bar service was non-existent. There are breakwalls that shelter the beach and make swimming enjoyable. Some snorkeling right off the resort. But the resort would not allow you to use their snorkel equipment unless you were going on one of their twice daily “guided” snorkel tours. Fortunately, we brought our own. We’ve not encountered this at any other Secrets. Conclusion This is a beautiful resort. Easy to get around and well maintained. But frankly, it was ill-suited to cope with near 100% capacity. We have always enjoyed the way Secrets employees have a smile on their faces and greet you cheerfully. We didn’t see nearly as much of that here, and there are a couple of possible explanations. They may not have enough employees and/or adequate systems to deal with the resort at full capacity, stressing out the workers. Or, this may have been a hangover effect from the labor troubles they experienced recently, which did not end well for the labor force. Whatever the reason, the overall experience was not what we’ve come to expect from Secrets. The resort is beautiful and the restaurants were great. But we would not consider returning when there are a number of other resorts that do not have these shortcomings.

For all the hype about secrets, it's not what it's all hyped up to be. First time at secrets and may be our last. Service on the beach was terrible. we tipped $10 a day and only got 1 drink an hour. Bugs in the room.It needs a huge update. When we took a shower, it leaked into where the toilet was. Dinner was an hour to 2 hour wait nightly. Mexican restaurants closed twice a week because there was no staff. No dinner buffet to go to. The other secrets and breathless had all there guest come eat at Orchid, which we were not aware of, which puts them behind. Only plus was the beautiful weather and ocean was nice. Only 1 swim up bar and pool are not combined all in 1. If you want to go from one side of the pool to the next, you have to get out of the pool, which I thought was weird. Since being bought out by Hyatt I have heard and read all negative comments on how this place continues to go downhill. Do better Secrets.

We stayed here 8 years ago and loved it and couldnt wait to go back! Fast forward to now and this trip honestly will probably keep us from going to Secrets again- which is a shame bc we got married at a Secrets and have always loved all that we’ve been to. Since Hyatt has bought it out it has gone downhill in many ways. Food is nowhere near as good as it once was- AND our friend got E coli in the middle of the trip while we were there (diagnosed once we got home) so she was sick most of the trip. We had a preferred swimout and had to wait almost 2 hrs for our room to be cleaned so we could check in (after normal check in time). The place definitely needs more upkeep. We coudnt even use the swim out bc it was absolutely freezing and the building shades it so no sun to warm you up. The positives were the amazing views and our butlers were good. Now that I am home, I realized they didnt give us our Hyatt points (even after assuring us they did) and Ive messaged the manager, Schan, multiple times with no response. They must not care about helping guests once they leave. Annoyed.

Recently returned from a two-week vacation to Secrets Wild Orchid. The hotel was extremely nice, and the room was very large with a very large, lovely bathroom. A big shout-out to the staff, especially Keniel, who worked in the pool bar restaurant for lunch and the lovely seafood restaurant in the evening. He was fantastic and very much made our holiday very special. He was extremely helpful, funny, and just a very nice man. All the waiters and waitresses were great in all the bars, restaurants, and the pools and beaches. Also, a big shout out to the water sports guys Bartclay and Neal, who were extremely helpful and friendly. Thank you for your lessons on the hobbie cat. We have one negative to say about our stay: the reservation of beds on the beach and at the pool, mainly by butlers for people in the preferred areas of the three hotels. We had to get up at 07.00 every day to join in the fun of putting towels out so we could have a bed once we had finished breakfast, overall though was a lovely holiday, entertainment team was fantastic everyday by the pool and every evening out side the piano bar, Bob Marley tribute was extra special.

The worst service ever. This is a all inclusive hotel that has only 1 person to take care of the entire beach. We were able to order only 1 drink and had to walk to the bar to get more. We had to wait 2 hours for a table for dinner, they give you a pager, but even with that we noticed the people that arrived after us were sitting before us, not sure if they bribed the hostess. There were no bath towels in our bathroom, we asked the amenities and it took 1 hour to deliver. The mattress had a deep sag and killed our backs.

One word: Disappointment I blame myself for not paying attention enough to the reviews on trip advisor before booking. First, a bit of caution from the over optimistic reviews from people with one or two contributions, they either haven’t travelled enough or are paid to write false reviews. There are always some positives, here it is: - close to airport (15 min drive when no traffic) - safe area - overall very clean - gardens well maintained - Gym is small but it does the job - we had a nice room with minor issues, like the clogged bathroom sink. I saw other comments where they had water leaking from the ceiling. - Internet worked fine from our room. Was able to do some work. But when around the resort there many dead spots, including at the beach - Many rooms with ocean views, go for it if your budget can afford it or if it is important for you Why we will never return - Food is a big problem. No buffet at night and not enough restaurants. Resort says they have 9 restaurants, but in reality only 2 or 3 are opened. You may end up ordering from your room but they don’t always pick up the phone when people call. Unless you make the line up at 5:30pm before the restaurants open at 6:00pm, you either will have hours of wait time or won’t eat. - Quality of food is average, some meals at the restaurants were very tasteful but others were disappointing - Chairs at the pool or at the beach. Just not enough chairs. You need to wake up at 6:00 in the morning to put your towels and reserve your chairs Other area of improvements - Service is slow, very slow everywhere, at restaurants, at the bar. Not only it is slow, I felt I was bothering them. Not many people put a smile on their face. They don’t look happy at their job. - Entertainment was minimal. Most of the time no entertainment at the pool. At night a small performance then DJ music. I feels the hotel doesn’t want to spend on entertainment. Overall, I felt I paid way too much for the services received. The food challenge was felt like the resort didn’t fill their part of the contract and obligation to feed us. You deserve better.

My review of Secrets Orchid Jamaica paints a picture of a deeply disappointing stay over three days. The desk staff was a positive exception, but the rest of the experience was fraught with issues: • Dining Experiences: • The Mexican restaurant served subpar fajitas with cold chicken and missing ingredients (no onions, peppers, beans, or rice), with a server taking 45 minutes to attend to us. • At the Italian restaurant, after an hour-long wait, we were never seated, prompting me to order room service instead. That room service—delivering a cold burger and fries—took 75 minutes to arrive. • Beverage Quality: • All “all-inclusive” drinks were disappointingly watered down and made with off-brand rail liquors, falling far short of the expected standard. Overall, despite a cordial reception at the front desk, the extended delays, poor food quality, and diluted drinks contributed to a “three day disaster.”

This was our second trip to Secrets Wild Orchid. We booked this through Delta Vacations this time. I have boasted how this is one of my top favorite adult only resort at an amazing location. Our last visit here was 2/2013 and we fell in love. Unfortunately, Hyatt has managed to ruin the Secrets brand and this resort completely. The days of seeking out and visiting Apple / AMSTAR owned resorts are over. You cannot trust what once was amazing. I will start with what is right with the resort. The location. Beautiful water, mountains and safe non busy end of the bay area. The gym was clean and the attendant there was always nice if around. We did not get sick from any of the food or drinks and the drinks were good. Although we chose this place twice liking how near the airport it was, unfortunately it took our driver an hour to get to the resort around 1:30 with our private transfer due to it being a Friday, and the driver driving right through the busy hip strip while cruise ships were in port. This was insane. Upon arrival, we were excited they had a room (oceanview junior suite) available and ready for us. We would later realize our room was run down, leaking water through the wall of the shower, leaking overflowing toilet, clogged sink. hot room with poor air condtioning that could not be lowered past 69.5, and lack of concierge/ cleaning staff. We were not cleaned twice of our 5 days and one night got a knock for turn down service.. we didn't use as we were getting ready for dinner. Only one night. That would have been nice on a nightly basis. When we called on Friday night for distilled water at 10:30 for our CPAP machine, they had no one to bring anything up for us. We were told they sent everyone home. They lacked daily on providing towels and washcloths, refilling soaps and restocking fridge. We had to continually ask throughout our 5 night stay. The paint, flooring and furniture are outdated and worn. There was no place in the bathroom to store toiletries away and only one hook for hanging anything. Overall the grounds, pool area, buildings, lobbys etc are worn and need a lot of work. Guest here start to reserve chairs by 5 a.m. Several mornings by 9 most of the chairs on the beach and all along the pools were taken. There are not enough pool seating and most seem to be for the Unlimited Vacation Club people or if you rent a canopy/ day bed. No worker enforced or removed towels that sat with unused chairs all day. Frustrating on a vacation to unwind you find yourself having to set an alarm to hunt for a chair at sunrise. There used to be a family It seemed the resort along with the sister resorts Breathless, St James, were lacking housekeeping staff as well as restaurant staff. This brings me to the biggest downfall that literally EVERYONE there if not a Unlimited member complained of. The dining options were horrible. The worst I have ever seen and we have been to many all inclusives as well as Cruiselines. Most nights only 4 or 5 restaraunt choices open for 3 resorts. Apparently all the Breathless people utilize the dining for Wild Orchid and St James. This lead to long lines, long waits with buzzers or being turned away altogether. I was told our second night that we had 30 tables in front of us at one place and 60 at another. NO OPEN BUFFET option for dining. We did not find this out until our last night there. Very little seating outside of the El Patio, Blue Mountain and Bourdeux restaurants to wait for your buzzer to go off. People stood around complaining and sharing stories of how frustrating this part of their trip was. Every person we met had a negative opinion of the dining process. Our last night there was only 3 restaurants open. We were told due to construction and "lower guest numbers" Remember, you are at the end of an island. You cannot just pop out to a fast food or other establishment. Room service not available and if it was, only 2 items to choose from with long wait. The coffee shop espresso/ cappucino machines were down for 2 days and much of the staff extremely rude, especially we found several of the hostess. The servers themselves were great especially for what they were dealing with. Many noticed and pointed out a group of Unlimited Vacation sales crew taking up a whole table and eating together while guest waited for over an hour or more for a table. The food portions were small but they allowed for more than one entree/ etc order per person. The last time we were there we could make reservations. They now only allow that for the preferred / Unlimited Vacation Club people. Bourdeux being one of the 3 open, turned men away for wearing dress shorts instead of pants. This is after they waited with a buzzer for over an hour. We met many unhappy with the service and situation. When we checked out yesterday, we were never asked how our stay was. I have never not been asked this before at checkout of any hotel or resort anywhere!! It was like they already knew from all the complaints daily from everyone. We are fortunate to be able to travel often and as a travel rep fully know we will NOT return there or likely ANY secrets resorts in the future. As stated we were loyal to and sought out the previously owned ALG/APPLE resorts and have frequented Dreams. Now Larimar, Breathless and Secrets Brands. We sadly will be doing the opposite and seeking other chains since the Hyatt buyout has really changed things negatively.

REONA & DOREEN AT OCEANA GRILL WERE BEYOND AMAZING! THEY MADE MY DAY DAILY! It was truly a pleasure to meet you both. This is for the owners, please upgrade your rooms. I was really disappointed in the amount of cost to stay in a room where the bathroom had broken tiles and old looking shower that clearly the cleaning people don’t have anything to do with. This a secrets issue and for me a concern because my bathroom at home looks better and is up-kept. Also note that you need to take care of your staff. I saw the TikTok’s and by then we had already paid but $3-$4 an hour for staff is atrocious when you’re charged damn near $1000 a month. The staff make this place but be warned that Europeans and Americans will disrespect them and they still smile. Tip these people because the company pays peanuts. Just search tiktok and Instagram. It’s ridiculous

My wife and I just returned from another amazing stay at Secrets Montego Bay. We have already booked a return trip for August to help celebrate Jamaica's 63 years of Independence on August 6th. If you have never visited Secrets MBJ during Jamaica's Independence Day Celebration, you need to book now. You won't be disappointed. My wife and I had just visited Secrets MBJ Dec/Jan to celebrate New Years and I posted a few weeks ago on Tripadvisor detailing that amazing trip. Our recent stay 2 weeks ago was full of fun and excitement. I have to say this stay had many special memories and moments that we will never forget! We have to personally thank Daniele Galligani, Kyle Nunes and Delrose Bahadure for creating so many of those wonderful memories. As always, the entire Entertainment Team lead by Delrose, Francois (Bleu), Samii Jo, Cassie and others along with Pace Band and Andre and others at the piano bar provided the resort with fun and enjoyable entertainment throughout our stay. The restaurants, Coco Cafe, pools, bartenders and staff, housekeeping, our UVC Rep Schan and our Butlers Chase and Dane as always went above and beyond. Thank you to all! And last, we want to give a special shout-out to the following: Entertainment member Shawn Huggarth for winning the annual employee car giveaway! Kaniel Hall, we miss not seeing you daily and hope you will be back at Secrets/Breathless very soon! Thank you so much for stopping by to see us. We always love hanging out with our wonderful Canadian friends! One Love! Jeff & Kathleen

We recently visited Secrets/Breathless Jamaica, our second amazing trip this year. As the wonderful Secrets’ staff always says, we come back to Canada to vacation, but will soon return home to Jamaica. All of the staff members are incredible, and we think so highly of the people we are lucky to call family. This stay had many high points and heartwarming moments. Listening to the Pace Band play on stage and André at the piano bar, while seeing the lights twinkle across the water at night, invoke an overwhelming sense of gratitude we feel to be able to experience everything that Secrets has provided us over the years. That backdrop is a beautiful palette, but it’s the people who have painted the masterpiece for us. Thank you Chase, Dane, and Schan for all that you do. Thank you Delrose, François, and Kyle for knowing our hearts. Thank you for Daniele for taking the time to speak with guests because as multiple time repeaters, that is important to us. Thank you everyone. We were thrilled to have attended the annual awards. It was an honour and a privilege to witness the extraordinary contributions of staff. We appreciate being included as we recognize that employee excellence is the foundation of these resorts and the reason we love it here. Reggae Love has always been a favourite for us, since its inception. We were blessed to see it twice this time, including a very special performance. A quote from the finale song of the musical is, « Now that we’ve found love, what are we gonna do, with it?….We’re gonna spread it all over the land…. » Well, Secrets, - from sunsets, to jerk chicken to Red Stripe, and everything in between, that’s exactly what you’ve done. Thanks for spreading that love all over the land.

We have just returned from Secrets Wild Orchid, celebrating our 30th anniversary. We went for the full treatment, preferred, swim up, ocean view with butler. The week was much as we had hoped. Check in was smooth and our butler took us to our room. There was a Happy Anniversary banner on our door, and inside was a bottle of champagne . Our butlers (Devon & Adia) could not have been more helpful, getting us reservations for the restaurants and getting us a cabana each day. I've seen where some say that the preferred section is not worth the expense , but we made regular use of the lounge (drinks and snacks thru out the day) and having restaurant reservations each nite, we never waited to be seated. Meals were a bit hit and miss. Our meals (one lunch, one dinner) at Altitude, a roof top restaurant ,pool and bar at Breathless, (a sister resort), were the best. We had full access to all three resorts, Wild Orchid, St James, & Breathless. We brought our own floating chairs for the water and insulated cups (drinks get warm if you drink them slowly) and this made for a better time. House keeping was there regularly and we always had fresh towels. Missing towels was a complaint I saw in several reviews, and we talked to one family who voiced this complaint. One disappointment was that there were standard chairs on the patio of our swim up room. At other resorts that we have stayed at, offering swim up or a small private pool, larger lounge chairs have been provided. If lounge chairs had been there, we may not have gotten a cabana every day. We ended up spending a lot of money, but thing went well and we enjoyed our time there

Is this place about 15 years old? Showing a lot of wear. The bar furniture is old and worn, not comfortable at all. Company needs to put some Money in this resort! We used the Preferred Club pool the first day and it was not clean at all. Our floats and swim suits came out green! Took one look at the hot tub and thought “no way”! The swim up bar pool was a little cleaner but really worn. No complaints on the food, it was really good. Beach area was really nice. Not impressed with the excursions we took, not the caliber of Cancun’s, Punta Cana’s, of Porta Viarta’s. The general staff (maintenance, waitresses, bellmen) were all really friendly. Can’t really say the same for the front desk staff.

A 5* resort but we experienced 3* niggly issues. Check in: 3pm but room not ready till 4:30pm. Issues: unable to lock door; ran out of shower gel; toilet didn't flush; excess water on balcony; room left open by staff - all resolved but shouldn't have happened in the first instance. Manager Regina McMahon took time out to listen to our issues and has promised to learn from them with the team. A shame we had a poor experience.

We just returned from our stay, March 16-21. We stayed in the regular ocean view building (not preferred), but had preferred access because of a Hyatt upgrade. Hyatt member, stayed on points! - Room was fine, clean, we had housekeeping service every day (some people said they didn’t, we always did along with turn down service). - Food is fine, but not fine dining. Don’t expect it. The casual food is yummy, have the jerk chicken and the shrimp burger. Eat at Portofino and Bordeaux. - Don’t expect hibachi reservations if staying less than a week, when we arrived Sunday, the earliest available was the following Sunday. - WiFi is spotty around the resort, even slow in room. Dead zones on the beach and pools. - Steel drum band was awesome, watch if they perform! The house band, Pace, also great. Live band karaoke was so much fun. - Plenty of drink service at the beach, both preferred and non. - Good selection of name brand liquors and heavy pours. - People claim the best spots EARLY. Towels don’t indicate taken space (Concierge told me they put out towels in the morning for guests, only personal items indicate claimed space). Plenty of availability if you’re flexible on location (i.e. don’t mind being in the sun). Both preferred and non! - Preferred isn’t worth it, in my opinion. We ate at Altitude one night and it was the worst meal of our trip (quality of food-wise). Overall, it was nice. I would never pay $800/night, I can’t see how it could be worth it (that’s the price on the website). However, on points it was great.
