Stayed here for a week at the beginning of March 2025 - resort was in a soft opening but was still fabulous. Beach 10/10, rooms 10/10, food 10/10. Stayed in building 5 in a swim out suite with a mountain and canal view. No complaints, the staff are wonderful. I would only caution that if you have a peanut allergy (I do not, but I have a child with one) you should not go here, there are packages of peanuts provided in the room daily and every restaurant has peanuts on the menu or at the buffet. There are also iguanas everywhere, they keep to themselves and are interesting to watch.

-Beach, beautiful, sandy, no seaweed but if the resort isn’t going to enforce beach chairs being saved and left empty then they need more seating. Most of the grounds were beautiful but I expect that more will be done next renovation. They need working outdoor showers to rinse the sand off your feet. -Food, fresh, well prepared with lots of variety. We enjoyed the buffet and the cafe as well as the premium lounge which had snacks. All the desserts were amazing! However, the food at the buffet was sometimes not hot. Warm, lukewarm. Need better heating. Sufficient selection for vegetarians but a vegan would struggle. 3 restaurant locations at the moment: the Asian, the buffet, and the a la carte next to the buffet were open. The specialty restaurants rotated through the a la carte next to the buffet. Service was generally very good. -Staff - everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. Very nice and gracious people. - Room - we had a preferred club master suite mountain view. Great room with extra space (living room). There were minor issues like the sink not draining well, one of the USB plugs by the bed, didn’t work but it didn’t affect our enjoyment. Room overlooked the gardens in the middle of the resort and we could see the ocean in the distance. Room was very clean and comfortable and housekeeping was wonderful and very efficient. Fridge was always restocked. -will post photos of menus which I would have liked to see when we were booking - we would definitely return and stay longer

# Hotel Review The hotel boasts a beautifully maintained territory with clean pool and beach areas. We stayed in building 7, where the rooms have been recently renovated with new furniture and bathroom fixtures. The bedding was changed daily, and the room cleaning service was impeccable. The only minor issue was the old room doors that were difficult to open. The beach is small and narrow with insufficient shade for all guests. We had to secure a lounger as early as 6 AM! However, there were plenty of shaded spots available by the pool. The Caribbean Sea was wonderful at 26.6°C - azure blue and clean, with some rocky areas in places, but nothing problematic. Evening entertainment was minimal, limited to solo performers in the lobby bar area. Overall, this hotel is perfect for a peaceful retreat from city hustle and bustle. The clientele was predominantly 50+. We dined at the buffet restaurant (didn't try the à la carte options). While the buffet selection wasn't extensive, everything was fresh and deliciously prepared! They offered fish, meat, seafood, salads, pasta, pizzas, french cheeses, nuts, smoothies, pancakes, pastries and fruits. What more could you ask for? The extra couple of kilograms gained in just one week speaks for itself. One drawback was the slow service at the buffet restaurant - we had to wait for both drinks and coffee. Despite this, the staff were extremely friendly and pleasant. The bars served high-end alcohol, delightful coffee, and the bartenders were exceptionally skilled and friendly. Special mention goes to Bernard, the general manager, who was attentive, helpful, highly professional, and responsive to any assistance needed. We would gladly return after renovations and some improvements are made and the resort reaches the level of the Secret name and its high standards.

We got a steal of a deal - $3500 (for both my husband and myself) along with about 90% of the entire plane. I knew the standards weren’t up to normal Secrets/Dreams expectations based on reviews and price, but I must say I was in shock when I went to see our room. The hallways are atrocious in real life! I know they are due for an overhaul and once I got used to it, I just had to look past it. Other things are in rough shape too but I just kept reminding myself what we paid! Check in went relatively well considering there was probably well over 100 people arriving at once. I was supposed to get a mountain view room but instead looked out upon a road and fence. Thank goodness I was on the second floor because the grass/grounds were littered with paint and stir sticks. Another thing I just decided to deal with after contemplating complaining… I was not aware the 2 restaurants overlooking the water were closed and no longer open at all. I thought people meant they rotated opening. The a la carte’s were in the same location each night beside the Buffett, but with different menus. We ended up eating out at 4 different restaurants close by and enjoyed each meal. The beach is absolutely stunning with gorgeous calm, warm water. We got up early each morning except one to secure good loungers. Yes, you need to play the game. We never ended up with ideal pool loungers but we could manage to find them and move here and there through out the day. The sun is scorching so be very mindful! Plenty of towels were readily available. The drinks are made with name brand alcohol but lack the special touch of fancy glasses and garnishes both at the pool and beach bar. They do a bit more at night in the lobby bar. Food was ok. The ambience at the buffet is non existent. We usually don’t do buffets for anything but breakfasts, however here, we ate there a couple of times for lunch but preferred the Barefoot Grill. They made a really good Caesar salad but one day we had to wait 1.5 hours for a Cobb salad. Ridiculous! Rooms were exactly as shown, and expected, thank goodness. Excellent housekeeping too. Comfy beds, nice size bathroom, bar restocked daily, plenty of water and always had M&M’s, peanuts and Pringles refreshed too. All the staff was very nice. Try Ivan’s noon water aerobics. Gym is very basic. No idea about the spa as I didn’t see it anywhere. I definitely would love to return once it reopens to see all the changes and enhancements. I’m so glad we got a deal as I’d be very disappointed if we had paid what the prices seem to have gone up to. Definitely not a 5 star experience - but no regrets!

The only good things it has going for it are the kind staff and beautiful location. As someone who travels to the Caribbean and stays at 5-star resorts 5-6 times a year, I would give this resort a 3 star rating at best. Most of the bars and restaurants remain closed. The entire resort needs a full reno. The hallways and flooring in the hallways resemble those of an abandoned building. The lobby looks like a larger version of a Motel 6 lobby. We also had booking issues on arrival which mid-level management failed to rectify (we were asked to taxi over to a 3-star hotel on the other side of the island for the night as the hotel was overbooked) - thankfully, we asked to discuss our issues with the general manager who ultimately provided us with a satisfactory resolution, which we appreciated. Bottom line, Hyatt/Secrets will ultimately need to either dump a lot of money into a full renovation of this property, or simply call this resort what it actually is: i.e. a regular (not Secrets) 3-star all-inclusive resort to manage expectations. Until Hyatt gets its act together on this resort, spend your hard-earned money on an actual 5-star resort. If they do end up actually renovating up to Secrets standards, we would be happy to revisit our position on this resort...we thank the general manager's understanding in rectifying our issues and the resort staff's kindness.

Secrets St. Martin did not disappoint. The pool & beach was amazing. Room service was fast & the food quality was good. The drink selection was high quality & the bartenders were on top of their game. There was not a lot of entertainment at night but the live music was good and once the sports bar re-opens, I believe the nightlife should improve. Overall the staff was friendly, accommodating, and I had no complaints about the service they provided. Will definitely be going back…

Stay away from this place. What you see in advertising is not what you get. Only 2 of the 5 restaurants are open. The food is not good at all. To get a good meal we went out in town to eat rather than use the included meals at the two open restaurants. The resort is isolated from the rest of the island and the beach has a lot of rocks on it so it is harder to walk on it. It would be better to find an apartment at Orient Beach instead. It is a nicer beach and there are a lot of restaurants there. Right now there is live music at the Orient village on Thursday nights. We had a great Italian meal there last night.

This trip was absolutely awful to say the least. The moment we got there the lady that checked us in was not pleasant at all. The amenities that were advertised were not there. They were running out of food and not replenishing. The coffee shop never had ice cream the whole time we were there. Staff was very rude to us. They made us feel like we shouldn't be there and like we were bothering them to have them wait on us. The room was awful, the smell of mold woke us up every night until we became very ill after night 3. It has been a joke to get any kind of response out of them since we got back. I complained to Hyatt on May 6th and have called numerous times since. Still have not heard a word back. I guess I should have known better since they didn't treat us any better while we were there for 7 days. I would NEVER recommend going to this resort. It was shocking on the way the help treated us. None of the bars or even the coffee shop was ever open non time. Always at least 45 min late to open. Breakfast was terrible always the same options and could not even get a waiter to get us coffee. They got upsset when after we were finished our breakfast and still no coffee I got up to get it myself. So RIDICULOUS!!!!!!!! AWFUL ! AWFUL! AWFUL!!!!!
