I defy anyone not to give this place a 5 Star review. From the staff, to the detail, the Villa host, the privacy and ambience, everything was excellent. You have the option of preordering food items and there is a well stocked wine fridge which you pay for as you use it. There is also a supermarket in town which concierge will happily arrange a trip for you to go, where you can but pretty much everything you you want for home cooking. One thing to bear in mind is it's built in the side of a hill so the resort is definitely not for anyone with mobility issues. Special thanks to Shenelle, our Villa host who was lovely and for whom nothing was too much trouble.

My Husband and I spent a couple nights at this resort and cannot say enough to express our satisfaction with our stay. Upon arrival, we got a tour of the resort and felt as if we were in another universe - a green one! If you are an ecotourist and find yourself excited about modern spaces becoming one with nature? This is the place for you. The customer service was the best we have received at a resort to date, the staff are well trained, kind and very knowledgeable about the resort and its future. Our personal attendant was Safiya - I'm not sure if she can be topped by another employee. We were met with the most pleasant and genuine smile at every interaction, and she made the best breakfast for us on 2 occasions. Safiya was always willing to help and had answers to all of our questions - we wish her well. Lastly, during our stay we were welcomed by the general manager who informed us he tries his best to greet most of the guests at the resort once time allows. The personalized gestures, customer service, food and ambiance made our stay perfect, and we simply cannot wait to do it again. -Thank you :)

Secret Bay is truly a unique experience! One that we thoroughly enjoyed!! 1. Villas Absolutely Huge!! With an amazing view We were in Zambuco 3.. I would recommend 2 or ideally 1. ( known as the Honeymoon Villa for its amazing location) 3 was too close to the road so we heard ambient traffic. Many families take advantage of the fact that there is a complete kitchen, purchases groceries locally and eat in.. 2. Service The Staff there are absolutely delightful! Elena our Villa Manager was highly responsive. 3. Food We loved the food! The executive chef is French .. the fine dining menus were exceptionally good. We would have preferred a bigger array of tropical fruits at breakfast however I’m sure they weren’t in season. 4. History We loved the fact that the property was developed and is owned by a Dominican Native. The main building reflects a commitment to Art and the decor is so chic. 5. Beach We loved the natural feel.. loungers are under trees… and spaced for privacy .. water is inviting.. snorkeling around the bend is exceptional… One suggestion.. There is a fully stocked wine fridge however those prices are exorbitant… purchase wine or spirits on the way in at the airport .

Have you ever dreamed of a luxurious tree house with beautiful views of the Caribbean and your own plunge pool? Welcome to Secret Bay! A unique and magical place to either stay and never leave or to make your base of perorations exploring Dominica. (we did more of the later) The food and service is some of the best we have experienced. (We loved the breakfast tasting trays!) George, the restaurant manager and his staff are friendly and professional. (George will greet you at meals, share an amusing story or answer any of your questions) Since most units are high on hills, you may have a fair amount of steps or will be in need of a golf cart pick up, which are available at your call to the Consierge. (Before you book your accommodations, ask how many stairs you may have to reach the road---we had 120 steps which caused us to pack for the day when we came down for breakfast!) Others are located closer to the funicular. For those who don't rent a car, the Consierge staff can arrange for any transportation, guided tours etc (not cheap but then you can enjoy the experience without navigating the winding narrow roads) Dominica is not known for its beaches due to being a volcanic island and Secret Bay has a modest one that is rocky upon entry. But it is beautiful with full service.

I stayed here for just over a week with my husband who is actually from Dominica so we have had the pleasure of staying all over the island and I was really looking forward to seeing if secret Bay lived up to my expectations and I’m glad to say it did. Their accommodations are stunning. Well maintained and the wonderful details such as the fully stocked kitchen based on your selections pre-arrival, we also appreciated the snacks on the pick up from the airport and the attentiveness of all the staff during our stay. However our villa hostess Fanya was absolutely incredible. We still talk about those breakfasts she made for us each morning and how well she took care of us during our stay. We also put the security team to work too as we were out so often because it was Creole Fest, so we often come back during early hours of the morning in our in our rental needing the security team to take us in a buggy to our villa. We stayed in Yang Yang ll. During our stay on one of the excursions which we arranged ourselves I got an eye infection which I had mentioned over breakfast to Fanya and within what felt like minute she had arranged for a doctor to come onsite. She was brilliant and treated it and it would’ve been much worse had Fanya not taken such swift action. I even got a personalised follow-up from the hotel manager Craig which was a brilliant touch. During our stay we had a private dinner party for my mother-in-law‘s 70th birthday and the team did a wonderful job transforming the outdoor space with beautiful decoration and we had the private chef experience which my family who attended really enjoyed and it is something we will treasure as a memory forever. The spa was wonderful. We had a couples massage. I also paid for one for my cousin as it was her birthday during our stay. They also prepared a small cake for her and it was easy to arrange everything typically via the messaging service on the iPhone they give you. I love secret beach, the cocktails on the beach and again the service there from the team was brilliant. We ate at the restaurant and also had room service and the food is delicious. Of course like everywhere there are things that could be different. The outdoor gym needs work and for people like us who do like to use that on holiday, it would be a nice touch to update the machinery and at the least get some fans outside. Also the pre-arrival communications can be slicker mostly from a responsiveness standpoint. We will absolutely stay there again likely opting for a bigger villa so we can bring more family with us next time, it’s so wonderful as my husband is a Dominican to see how wonderfully they represent the island!

We had an amazing stay! It was our first time to the island and I can’t say enough great things about the resort. From our villa hostess Tashida who took such wonderful care of us during our stay to the rest of the staff and general manager Craig. We had issues with travel home and they went above and beyond to help us with an additional night accommodation. We felt like the only couple there almost the entire time. We had the most amazing views and th heated plunge pool for me was a game changer! We did the Titou gorge and waterfalls excursion which was perfect to get out and about for a day. We also had a couples massage onsite which was amazing. We will definitely be returning!

I recently stayed at this beautiful resort with my wife, and while we had an overall enjoyable experience, there were some important issues I feel need to be addressed. The resort itself is wonderful. The hotel is stunning, with excellent amenities, and the food was absolutely fantastic—every meal was a highlight. We felt very comfortable and relaxed in the space, and the atmosphere was truly perfect for a getaway. However, we did have some issues with the villa service. Rhona, the attendant assigned to our villa, unfortunately provided poor service during our stay. Her attention to detail was lacking, and it felt like the level of care we expected was missing, which was a bit disappointing. The most troubling part of our experience came when, while planning our next vacation together, my wife revealed that she had been sexually harassed by one of the beach attendants(Johny) during our stay. I was deeply upset to hear this, and I immediately reached out to the hotel via email to express my concerns and to ask for any follow-up. Unfortunately, I never received a response from the hotel. This lack of acknowledgment or action was frustrating and disheartening. It’s my hope that the resort takes this issue seriously to ensure that future guests feel safe and respected during their stay. While the resort itself is lovely and the food was outstanding, this experience has definitely left a negative impression. I sincerely hope that no one else has to go through something like this in the future. I do wish to return, but only if these matters are properly addressed. I hope that no one else has to experience what we did.

This place is an amazing luxury boutique experience. The resort is small enough that you never see more than 5-6 people at any given time. It’s very private. The private plunge pool is nice. They turned up the heat for us every night and we had our own little hot tub (98 degrees). The service is very friendly. Though, it’s maybe not as attentive as what you might be accustomed to experiencing in the United States. I think it’s just a cultural difference. Everyone is more than happy to provide great service. Breakfast in villa is awesome. The pool is awesome. The food was awesome. The amenities were all very high quality and functioning. It’s an amazing experience but you should also understand that you aren’t staying at the Hilton with elevator and carpeted hallways leading to your room. If you want a unique experience in nature while still enjoying the luxuries (Netflix, air conditioning, private pool), this is the place to be. Also, it’s fun to go into town and experience the towns restaurants. The island is very safe and people are friendly. It’s fun to interact with the locals and learn about the island. It’s a cool island, just don’t tell everyone about it and ruin it.

My wife and I decided to celebrate our wedding anniversary at Secret Bay in Dominica after conducting a very thorough search of hotels in the Caribbean. We landed on Secret Bay due to its size, value, location and villa accommodations. It’s clear that the team at Secret Bay cares completely about your experience. From booking, all the way through to your departure at the airport, the team is there to make sure your trip is one to remember. Since this was our first time at Secret Bay, we reached out directly to book our experience. The concierge team was very helpful in supporting us with our villa selection and package, listing out the differences between the villas alongside their availability. We landed on the Tì Fey Cliff Top I with partial ocean views. One thing to note, since the villas have full kitchens, you’re provided with a pre-arrival questionnaire to have them stocked with snacks and beverages prior to your arrival. If you only pick one thing, get yourself some rum punches. Our package included a ride to and from the airport, so if you’re not renting a car, I highly recommend organizing a driver. The drive has some impressive views as you travel along the Atlantic coast. We were very happy to have someone take us to the resort after the flights from Newark to Dominica (stopover at Miami Airport). The snacks and water that came with the van from the airport, were a nice detail as well. Upon arrival we were greeted by the lovely concierge team who provided us with welcome beverages and an iPhone that we could use throughout our stay to communicate with them and our villa host (more on that soon). When we first got to our villa we were blown away. Two levels, full kitchen, furnished patio with BBQ, plunge pool, outdoor shower and two full bathrooms, it’s one of the nicest places we’ve ever stayed at. We were also impressed by the “partial ocean view”, which from the photos, is incredible, and a perfect spot to watch the sunset from. One of the biggest highlights of our trip was our villa host, Safiyeh. Each morning you pick breakfast and your villa host will prepare it for you. Be sure to get the traditional breakfast to experience one of our favorite meals of the trip. They’re also there to support the equally amazing Concierge team with organizing your experiences and surprising you with details that make your stay even more special. Other highlights included making use of the kayaks and stand up paddle boards (no scheduling needed, just head down to the beach and chat with the team), having cocktails at the pool bar, the private chef experience (this is a must do), the beach bonfire dinner and listening to the sound of the ocean while getting a hot stone massage at the spa (which is nestled on a hillside right next to the beach). A few things to note. All the villas are up on hills and not directly on the beach. The golf carts were a fun way to get around and it was super easy to organize one via concierge on the iPhone they give you. We stayed five nights and spent most of it at the hotel. While you might be tempted to plan a bunch of adventures, don’t overdo it, go with the flow and enjoy the property, your villa and exceptional service.

HHad a little hiccup with the staff, but management really went above and beyond to resolve the situation. The property is absolutely lovely! The villa is just stunning. The location is great, offering good privacy. They organized a day tour and took care of every detail, which was fantastic!

It’s hard to describe how amazing this hotel is but I’ll try. First, its set on a magical island often overlooked in the Caribbean, brimming with natural wonders at every turn. Next, imagine a luxury hotel in perfect harmony with nature. Accommodations are simple, elegant and well positioned on the compound. It’s staff, authentic, friendly, helpful and there to make sure your every need is met. Secret Bay’s concierge team ensures that each day you can do as much or as little as you like. Each villa also has a room attendant which you can reach any time. Chanelle made us breakfast each morning in the villa and was an absolute pleasure to speak with each day. Shevon Walters, our private driver for several days, personally escorted us to all destinations and made sure we had everything we needed and were prepared for the day’s activities. He gave us a tour of his island and by the time we left we felt like it was ours. My wife and I are eager to return and bring the rest of our family on the next visit.

I am a little reluctant to write a good review as the magic of Secret Bay is that it is in an unspoilt location in a stunning country that is unspoilt by tourism. If you want a buzzing resort, do not come here - it is very quiet and that is the beauty of the hotel. The stay was magical. Great villa with a view of the sea and beach, with a spacious balcony and plunge pool. Well equipped villa with a kitchen. They cook your breakfast for you in your villa. We loved the restaurant for lunch and dinner; the chef comes out during each and every meal asking for feedback and making recommendations. One night we did the discovery menu where he designed the menu for us. The food was truly excellent. The main pool is pleasant. Good selection of unmotorised watersports (though would have loved it if they had a hobicat / sailing dinghy). Service is personable and very friendly throughout. The concierge could be a little sharper but the friendly service compensates for the short comings in terms of efficiency. Excellent massages in an unfussy spa. They offer a good selection of excursions / activities; we really enjoyed a visit to the forest and seeing waterfalls. The Indian river excursion was good. My only gripe - not unusual for the Caribbean - is the costs of drinks / snacks that are pre-stocked in your kitchen. A basic Lindeman’s Sauvignon Blanc that costs GBP7.95 in my local supermarket in the UK which was in the villa kitchen cost US$75 plus taxes etc etc! In any event, a really special place. I am really looking forward to going back.

Perfect location for some peace and quiet! The thing that sets Secret Bay apart from other locations is the staff! Everyone from the general manager to our Villa Host (Hi Fania!) to the golf cart drivers were so attentive and friendly. We had to adjust our schedule due to a hurricane that affected travel in the US and the staff was very accommodating. We had to change villas because of the schedule change but we never skipped a beat because of the way it was handled. The food here is amazing. Fania, our villa host, cooked breakfast every morning in our villa and it was better than anything I could have cooked in our kitchen at home. The restaurant has a wide variety of options for anyone, including a fantastic beef tataki for land lubbers as well as plenty of local options for those that wanted to sample the local culture. One night, we had the private chef Hilroy cook dinner in our villa and he treated us to one of the best meals we’ve ever had. What made it great was not only the amazing food but hearing about him, his family and island history made the experience one of the best of the trip. After our check in, the first staff we met were Dane and Chelsea at the pool bar. They were quick to point out the local rum infused flavored drinks and we were hooked for the rest of trip. Johnny (JJ) at water sports was knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating to all our needs. Craig, the general manager, was on site the entire trip. He had great information the history of the resort, local culture, and his primary concern was making our experience was the best it could be. We can’t wait to go back and see our new friends.

Wife and I went for our 20th anniversary. We were looking for something quiet and secluded. Definitely fit the bill. The grounds were lush and peaceful, and the staff was always attentive, polite and pleasant. The villa is just as wonderful as the pictures online. Even though the 'forecast' said rain every day - we had a nice, sunny view every day we were there (7 days). We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, however there are some things to take into consideration when thinking about visiting this property: The ride from the airport: all the roads are treacherous and winding...if you are at all prone to car-sickness, beware. We actually canceled one of our tours when we found out it was over an hour car ride from the resort. It would be nice if the resort had a boat to do some transfers to and from the resort. The water seemed quite calm, and a boat ride would've been far more tolerable than some of these car rides! Everything is expensive! (all references to price are in US$) We were expecting luxury, as we spent ~$2k/nt on the villa alone. However I can't see the reason for a patron and club soda at the pool costing $27. The specialty drinks were more reasonably priced, and were quite good - with local natural ingredients, but sometimes I just wanted a simple drink. We did bring our own liquor for the villa, and a couple bottles of wine from home, but cocktails at the bar or restaurant were outrageous - even when considering that it is difficult to get provisions to such a remote island. We had a bottle of wine from the restaurant (my wife and I are not wine snobs) and we picked a pinot noir from the wine list in the $45 range, that ended up being a $3.99 bottle you would by from a gas station back home! With such 'lux' billing...why is a wine like this even on the menu? (I didn't think it was that bad honestly...just the 10x mark-up was a bit of a surprise) 2. most anything you ask for in your villa will be an upcharge. Can of club soda - $4, bag of almonds to snack on - $25, bottle of water for the cab ride - $4ea. Less that 1/2 the price if you have a cab driver stop off at a local bodega on the way back from a tour. 2. Seemingly unnecessary up-charges continue into the tour prices... even little sites we wanted to see came with a cab fare often in the $200 range. We would later find out from locals that these rides cost fractions of that when booked direct with a car service. I had the feeling that the resort takes a considerable fee for reserving these trips. Most of the tours were individual, and our driver was also our tour/hike guide, which was nice. We would spend the entire day with these gentlemen, and would always tip on top of the cost from the resort. We had a dinner 'included' as part of our reservation, and the 'set-up' for dinner on the sunset terrace was an additional $75...I didn't understand this either. Our villa host brought our meal up to the terrace via golf cart one course at a time, and the experience was lovely...however it wasn't like there was a staff of 4 waiting on us the whole time - we just used the resort's porch for an hour or so. (lovely view though...I recommend it). A yoga class was $160, casual dining/lunch was about what you'd expect at a Ritz Carlton-type property. We did a private chef dinner in our villa as part of a 'Lion Fish Hunt' which was the best. Hilroy the chef was a delight! (the hunt boat tour and private chef for the two of us was ~$1,000) Fine dining on the terrace was a fantastic prix-fix meal...with a couple drinks, it was over $400. The kayak/canoe up the Indian River was nice, and we spent time at the jungle Rum Bar chatting up the locals, our tour guide and the bartender. We did go to 'Keepin it Real' and the meal was great - but be aware, it's quite a ways from the resort. A great meal there was about $35US for the two of us. Locals are all friendly. No pushy salesmen type. Really wonderful people. This island is VERY poor however, and the effects of a Hurricane 7 years ago is still apparent. I had no problem tipping for great service and experiences throughout our stay, and a little money from tourists likely goes a long way to these wonderful people, since even prices in the local stores seemed higher than most of the residents could easily afford. Overall, very nice experience, but I gathered that the target clientele for the resort is the 'price-is-not-a-factor' crowd. We enjoy nice vacations, but I can think of more luxurious properties to drop upwards of 15 grand on a week vacation.

An amazing vacation with the most unbelievable staff! If you are looking for a special treat - especially without kids - this place is amazing. We were there off season so there were only 8 of us on the property - they can only hold around 90 people at a time - so never too busy. The drive to the hotel from the airport is about an hour - great way to see a lot of the island. We had the same driver - Tyrone - for the whole time we were there - he was amazing!!!! Our luggage did not make it the first few days and someone from the airport had already let the staff know, so by the time we arrived - they had our villa stacked with toiletries and got us dressed in stuff from their onsite shop until our stuff arrived 2 days later. They were so accommodating!!!! (and American Airlines reimbursed us for the clothes we had to buy!). Even the golf cart driver - Dwayne - went back to his house to get me some of his contact solution since they had none at the resort. The villas are beautiful, big, clean and have some amazing views. Our villa host was Martina, and was wonderful. The breakfasts they cook for you in the room are unreal. They will keep the room stacked with food you want and anything that was wrong was taken care of right away. Craig is the manager and was always available to talk to if necessary -- he was wonderful. The food is incredible!! You MUST do the fine dining when it is offered. The chefs are unreal, from France and take so much pride in what they do - was SO worth the money and I highly recommend it. The staff at the bar and restaurants were also beyond wonderful (especially Gyaile, Dane, Jamarley). Also -no happier person on earth than the golf cart driver Jacob! You have to spend time with him - he is amazing. Could not recommend this place more - go see waterfalls! Snorkle! Scuba! RELAX!
