I just reviewed The Eagle Lodge and mixed up the two properties. They are both unbelievable and should not be missed. The Eagle Island lodge had the very best massages that we ever experienced. Highly recommend Maggie. She is strong and very thoughtful. We did one every day and will miss her terribly! Both girls are fantastic. Maria did an amazing job cleaning our room twice a day. There is plenty of bottled water and soft drinks in the refrigerator. The terrace overlooks stunning scenery with hippos, lions, elephants and water buffalo all over the waterfront. We were served by Miss B and she was lovely. Izzy made us fabulous drinks each night! BK has the loveliest personality. Every single person who serves there is friendly and can’t do enough for everyone. Rachael helped us get our donations to the right place with our amazing game driver, DK. DK is extremely passionate, knowledgeable and just plain sweet. She found us every single animal that we always wanted to see. We really enjoyed getting to know her at sunset when she takes out a picnic basket with snacks and cold drinks. She spotted the most fantastic owl, eagles, cheetahs, lions and so much more! She is one of a kind. We loved the property and can’t recommend Belmond enough. It’s quiet, elegant and run well.

If I could give this lodge more than 5 out of 5 I would. Located with a view of elephants in a waterhole the rooms were excellent with air con, private frig and plenty of drinking water. We were woken each morning with a flask of hot water to make tea. The meals were exquisite. I don’t know where the chef learnt to cook. Meal times were when you wanted them not a rigid time. Our guide, Moses, was knowledgeable, ,enthusiastic and imparted information with having to be asked. He taught us how to track and nothing was too much trouble . He even showed us a bushman’s painting two thousand years old because one of our companions asked. I could go on and one about Moses and this lodge. I will cherish my memories.

This was our second stop on our 6-night ‘Grand Tour of Botswana’ package and I can’t decide which lodge I enjoyed more because they were both excellent but in different ways. We were in room #4 located directly in front of the elephant watering hole. This gave us a chance to sit and watch hours of activity right from our balcony. Although the rooms at this property are a tad smaller than the ones at Eagle Island, the light colors used throughout the property made for a very relaxing environment. From the meals to the spa to afternoon tea and happy hour - everything was seamless. On our final night at the lodge we happened to be the only guests and the staff went above and beyond to surprise us with dinner service from the privacy of our balcony. Thank you our guide John and the entire Belmond team for making our trip memorable. We hope to return in the future.

It was a magical experience - beautifully appointed tent-like structure, very well air conditioned, comfortable bed, lovely toiletries, complimentary laundry service and best of all a spacious covered porch looking out on the watering hole. Elephants parading by day and night for a drink! We could watch the wildlife from the comfort of our room. The staff made our stay very special, so attentive to our every need. We went on twice daily game runs with our guide Richard - saw it all: wild dogs, lions, cheetah, leopard, ostrich, and many, many elephant and giraffe and more. There's even a spa where I enjoyed excellent massage therapy. Food was excellently prepared, wines were divine. This place is very special!

Is there a word that implies more than epic? What a wonderful gem of a place. The lodge is very comfortable and well equipped. Don’t forgo the outdoor shower; turn the lights off and shower under a sky full of stars. WiFi is only accessible at the main area but if you’re there to get away, it’s certainly no bother. Our guide was Obie. He is so very knowledgeable about the animals, flora and fauna and also taught us much about traditional Africa. We saw herds of elephants, zebra, giraffe, impala (of course), lions, leopards and we actually saw a cheetah take down an impala. I can’t say enough about Savute Elephant Lodge. As well, get a massage by Kenny…..she is magnificent! And the food…..I’m gluten free and they accommodated me beautifully. Muffins, deserts….sooo very good. I want to bring my grandson (10 years) to Africa and I think this would be a good place. Thanks to all!

We travel Belmond all over Europe and it ( was) our favorite luxury hotel brand. So when we booked Savute Lodge we expected Belmond standards. What a disappointment. Belmond should be ashamed to put their name in this property. The lodge itself is old, shabby and not up to standard. The tents are very small. The lodge is just unwelcoming . The food our first night was literally inedible. This- from Belmond????? We could not believe it. They didn't even have a lemon or lime on the property for drinks. The food got marginally better- but no more that a standard level lodge. The wines were also not very good. The staff were very good. Everyone did their best and took very good care of us as best they could. This was the most expensive lodge abd we e le Ted a Singita level experi ce from Belmond. It was just terrible. Save a few dollars and go to Sandibe, And Beyond. A much better experience.

Savute Elephant Lodge is as lovely as the come in the bush. Chic decor of the common areas, an elephant blind and viewing deck overlooking the watering hole and luxury tents with large decks and outdoor showers. Food was great. The Bar man Zaza made sure you where never without a drink. The famous lions of Savute are on full display with huge prides and lots of sightings. The watering hole brings the elephants and more right up to the hotel. A wonderful 3 nights.
