Out adventure began when we exited the tarmac, as opposed to after customs, and the experience was stellar. No finger need be lifted thereafter. We were handed off to our driver and whisked off to our incredible greeting and subsequently escorted to our room (which is where you check in) with your bags at our heels. The rooms are adorned with every convenience, including welcome fruit, bottled water, coffee and fresh milk in the fridge. Do not expect cream, which is what I prefer in my coffee, so that was a personal disappointment, because the response should have been, we’re sending staff to retrieve some for you sir. Guest rooms can only be cooled to 20 degrees C (67 degrees F) which, if you like it quite cool when you sleep, especially as the comfortable beds are draped with heavy duvets, you will be frustrated. There is a ceiling fan but why restrict a guest’s ability to choose? A manager’s cocktail party was held the first night. You must attend these events if offered. You are bound to meet a cadre of interesting people imparting the most interesting life stories. This is a destination designed mainly for the inhabitants of England, as they return year after year. Therefore, they constitute the majority of the guests. Nevertheless, you may "still" find them to be an interesting lot. :) We received a call at 9 AM to ask if we wanted our room cleaned as we had our “do not disturb” light on. That was 5 AM LA time, but a very respectable London time. We were dead asleep, so not sure of the do not disturb light's intended purpose. The staff was my favorite part of our stay. The English management is expected to be exceptionally polite and the regulation level of stuffy. But the islander staff was amazing and always friendly, helpful, genuine and seemingly joyful (a rarity indeed). The beach is right there, with comfortable assigned beach chairs and no bugs. The water is that lovely hue you’d expect and is inhabited by the occasional sea turtle. There is a precipitous drop off a few feet out and coral protruding from the sea floor but it’s not too sharp. In other words, you’ll survive a swim. If you prefer, there’s an incredible pool, spa, golf course, tennis courts and all you’d expect at a world class resort destination. Value expectations? Everything on the island is imported, except perhaps for rum, so everything is expensive, even for the inhabitants of the island. But, for those guests of Sandy Lane you can expect usury prices consistent with the room rates. And bring cash as tipping is standard and, if you’re a drinker, pick up a bottle at duty free while waiting for your luggage. In an unfortunate turn of events, I contracted food poisoning from the buffet the first night. Obviously, this must be uncommon, but I spent the rest of my stay in bed….. or worse…. The resort nurse was excellent. I’m giving SL a pass on this one. Overall, your experience will be memorable and very likely for the right reasons!

We stayed in an Orchid suite for 3 nights prior to going on a cruise. The hotel was absolutely amazing and the best service we have experienced in a 5 star luxury hotel anywhere in the world. The room was immaculate with a large walk in wardrobe, enormous bathroom, separate study, separate lounge area and a garden terrace with furniture. We particularly liked the Bajan Blue restaurant which had some excellent themed buffet nights as well as the a la carte menu. The hotel really is as good as the hype and we will be back again soon. Highly recommended

This was our second 4 night visit and we were not disappointed. Sandy Lane oozes quality and, in common with other hotels where management has a high visibility, service levels throughout are top notch with lots of personal touches and attention to detail. On this visit we went to Sunday Brunch which we really enjoyed and would repeat. The range and quality of the buffet was first class. The recently opened Monkey Club (replacing L’Acajou) is fresh, modern and vibrant. In common with the rest of the hotel, the food is well-presented and high qualtity. We certainly plan to return and to stay for longer next time.

What an experience to stay at Sandy Lane to celebrate my birthday. I was not familiar with Sandy Lane or Barbados, but let me tell you what a special island and place and people! From the moment you land and swiftly taken through customs and wisked away to your transfer, then greeted by the staff with drinks, towels and a tour and check in at your room you are made to feel special. We were lucky enough to be at Sandy Lane for one week and during that time we felt so taken care of by everyone. How do they remember your name, that in itself is amazing! And I was there during my birthday and everyone wished me a happy birthday. You can't beat that!! The Spa is stunning and again greeted so lovely by the front desk and we had the scalp massage, swedish and deep tissue massages which were all incredible. My hair has never been so soft after the oil rubbed in during the scalp massage. Loved the relaxation room to just chill. The breakfast is a bit overwhelming and I particularly loved the fresh fruits and the daily tropical smoothy. The mango yogurt is simply mango and yogurt which is fabulous. Dinner we sometimes sat and watched the sunset with a cocktail and ordered sushi which our favorite was the Emperor role. We tried the pizza which was delicious as well. For dinner at Bajan Blue our favorites were the wasabi shrimp appetizer and Beef and Broccoli. The rooms are incredibly well appointed. Beautiful closets and well thought out, large bathroom with one of the best showers! The outdoor balcony is just lovely and the view is almost surreal. Bedding was perfect...BUT we found the beds uncomfortable. A bit too soft for us. We were here during low season, so overall had no issues with beach chairs or pool chairs. Sandy Lane is beautiful/special place and I don't think we experienced all that it had to offer. But our opinion is that it is the staff is who are truly special. You can't say that of many places these days. Worth every penny. As a side note: They finished the replenishing the sand while we were there and the beach looks beautiful. I would recommend watching as you go into the water as there is some coral.

Well, there is never a bad thing to say about sandy lane. We LOVE this hotel, it's staff and the whole sandy lane experience. This visit made our 17th time returning and will always be our favourite place to come. The rooms are always immaculate, the food is stunning, the staff are soooo friendly, the pool is beautiful, sandy lane has one of the best spa's I have ever visited....so if you are reading trip advisor to determine whether you should stay at sandy lane....DO IT!! A personal shout out for some of the staff at Sandy Lane Richard, you continue to make us feel so welcome. You make us laugh and are just such a fun and caring guy. Thank you for looking after us as always! Ria from Bajan Blue, you made Sophie our daughter who was vegan at the time so welcome and relaxed about asking about vegan options( that was 2 years ago now) but ever since we met you that year you have welcomed us back like a member of family, you are a true gem! Reia the host at Bajan blue- this year is the first time we met you and you were so friendly, chatty and just an all around fun girl to chat to, it's your friendly and fun character that gives the hotel is personality! Stephanie and Jowan in the monkey bar- Stephanie has been an amazing girl in the bar for years now and we just want to express how much we enjoy her company in the bar, she is wonderful and a great bar girl, tamika is also a fantastic bar girl with great sense of humour and fun converstation. Jowan, I think, is pretty new, but absolutely is one of those characters that will stay at Sandy Lane and become a solid team member. He has outstanding bar tending skills and service. He had a great contagious smile and a fantastic sense of humour (don't go anywhere, Jowan, we will be back 2025) Shane and Tonya on the beach bar are always a pleasure to chat to and are amazing at their jobs. Thank you for always looking after us! Dwight, Obrian, and Rodney at the pool are always accommodating and great to chat to at the pool area. It's a fantastic service up there!! Larry at the beach is always a great face to see, always remembers you and makes sure you have a bed on the beach! Ashlene and Darren. A big thanks to you guys, Ashlene is always a friendly face, very helpful and good to chat to, Darren is a new team member and he was a diamond sorting our reservations for us this trip. A true gem! Finally thankyou to Alpha for becoming us back, and all the front of house team, we cannot wait to get back 2025! Keep doing what you're doing, you beauty!

Our return to Sandy Lane was absolutely perfection! We have been multiple times and they always go above and beyond to make sure your stay is FABULOUS! Ashlee at the concierge desk made sure our dinner reservations were to our liking and also changed them to meet our needs when we changed our mind. She is quite AMAZING! Also, Dwight and Adrian at the pool made sure we had our afternoon snack exactly like we wished! They went above and beyond to get us a cheese and fruit tray and even had to go and get it from the resort kitchen and were so happy to oblige. The attendant team at the beach were simply THE BEST. Keshon was so kind and funny and kept us with cold beverages and served us our delicious lunch everyday. Our room was kept immaculate and the housekeepers are like ninja's...you never see them, but somehow your room gets put back to perfection when you leave it. Nevill is at the front desk (all the time...I don't think he ever goes home..heehee) and he is ready to secure your transportation to go anywhere you wish...and always does it with a smile and a fun chat to make sure you are happy. One of my favorite things was shopping in the wonderful gift shop with Shanith. She assisted me on multiple occasions to purchase wonderful gifts for my family. The buffet dinners were out of this world with all types of DELICIOUS food. Eating your amazing breakfast so close to the ocean with the breeze blowing is PARADISE! I can not say enough wonderful things about this resort! One item that makes Sandy Lane so outstanding is that the management staff is ALWAYS on property (Leonardo is the spectacular Hotel Manager) and they are "Hands ON" and notice items that need taking care of even before the guests notice. The management is definitely an All Star team. We will return again as soon as we can because in our opinion....(and we have traveled to lots of luxury hotels), Sandy Lane is by far THE BEST!!

Everything about Sandy Lane is special... where do I begin... First of all, before our arrival, we worked with the concierge and the staff to book golf (for my husband), spa services (for myself), a car rental, various dinners, etc. They were wonderfully attentive and professional. When we arrived in Barbados, we were greeted by a representative in the airport, who fast-tracked us through immigration, helped us to collect our bags, and transported us to the hotel. They have a very civilized system of having the bags transported in a cab, while they drove us in a comfortable sedan. When we arrived at the resort, we were greeted by several of the staff, who promptly showed us to our amazing suite. We booked the Dolphin suite, which is very spacious and close to the beach. The room is very elegantly appointed with a fabulous bathroom. The rooms are extremely well taken care of - if we asked for anything from house keeping (water, soda, etc) it was delivered in minutes. And we always had plenty of towels and toiletries, and only the softest towels. Regarding the service, the staff is amazing... every single person we interacted with was friendly and helpful and appeared to really enjoy their job. The staff is incredible. As I said, my husband came to golf, and really enjoyed the golf package. The green Monkey course is an EXPERIENCE that he will surely want to enjoy again. I met him for lunch one day at the country club, which is so lovely. I enjoyed the SPA which is pretty incredible in terms of the services and the general atmosphere. However, what we loved the most is the beach - the beach is absolutely spectacular. Beautiful sand (and no seaweed...) and the calmest and most refreshing water you can ever imagine. They place the chairs very nicely on the beach so that everyone has enough room. There are kids on the beach and in the resort however, the staff tries to keep them together - so we were not on top of the families. (we really appreciated that). The food is good, and the restaurants nice. Although breakfast is a bit bland - they can work on this. Overall, a simply amazing experience... We will definitely return. Yes, the price tag is hefty, however, we felt that we were getting a lot (even if we were paying a lot!).

The beds and bedrooms are ridiculously so comfy its difficult to leave them even though the beach awaits just a few feet away . Bajan blue has to be one of my favourite restaurants on the world . Everything you can want for breakfast and such quality food too , I eat mainly vegetarian and their fruit is just the best . Evening dinners too are great but the buffets are the best ive ever had - we particularly scheduled our time to be here for saturday evening buffet - i warn you its serious eating and save room for all the desserts 11/10 ! The beach is amazing the service is 10/10 .. split the day with beach then relaxing poolside too ( I warn you those beds poolside are hard to leave too ! ) have never had poolside loungers this comfy ! James and ALL the staff everywhere are what make it , all so lovely and so friendly making you feel at home and part of the family. From the iconic welcome greeting to the fond farewell , Its always been and still is a little piece of paradise ❤️

Just returned home from a 7 night stay & can’t wait to return. Everything & everyone lovely. All facilities superb such a relaxing space wherever you maybe on the resort. Views from the club house were breathtaking we just went for lunch as we are not golfers & are so glad we did. (Free shuttle to & from hotel)! All food & drinks top quality & plenty of choice. Allocated sun beds on arrival for duration of stay worked so well as did the no tipping policy. If you want to tip you can do so on checkout. Checkout was not a problem either although we had a very late evening flight we were able to keep our room longer & still use all the facility’s including the very luxurious spa to get ready for our included transfer.

We stayed 3 nights at Sandy Lane and it was average considering the high prices. The rooms are large but they lack character. The service is good but it misses the luxury feel you find in smaller hotels. The breakfast was a big disappointment - a buffet experience where you have to queue to get some eggs (the eggs Benedict were also badly cooked). They also try to overcharge us at check out. Overall an average experience and definitely not what you would expect for the prices.

The hotel is excellent, service on the beach very good, rooms are kept immaculate but the customer service is very poor for a hotel of this standard and cost. Calling the reception or the concierge is a long process normally resulting in failure, we found it quicker to actually go to the concierge. But the main let down was leaving the hotel nobody said thank you for staying with us or have a good trip or look forward to seeing you again, it was very impersonal and felt like I was leaving a large corporate hotel in a major city, not what I expect.

Having just returned from a 12 night stay, our first visit, it's hard to fathom the negative reviews posted on this site. I can honestly say that, overall and without hesitation, this is the best hotel I have ever stayed in. The vast majority of staff were fantastic, the room (deluxe seaview ), facilities, food and drink were all great and the setting is second to none. The only negative (a small one) is the lack of new things on the breakfast buffet, which becomes a bit samey after a while. This is just splitting hairs, however, because it's still a great spread. We ate out most nights but enjoyed the (Asian) buffet on one night and room service on another. We will be back.

We have been coming to Sandy Lane for about 20 years It is of an outstanding design and construction , the bedrooms are the last word in luxury - truly we usually have a luxury dolphin suite with a large terrace overlooking the beach - the bathroom. one could almost spend your holiday in - it’s very large , the bedroom , the lounge etc are palatial We now love having breakfast served perfectly on that terrace a joyful way to start the day then off to the pool to cool off until lunch where they have a great couple of chefs who cook - our favourite -gazpacho - a little spicy ,then maybe barracuda deliciously chunky and tasty possibly with crispy fries on the side served at a shady table by the pool by William or Dwight two of the friendly affable staff This food really is the best in the hotel . In the evening the buffet which changes style day to day from Indian to Asian to barbadian - with a barbecue in addition where the chefs cook - perfectly anything you might like from fish to meat However lush though the buffet is we as I have said before find serving yourself a bit of a chore and tend to go out in the evening to be served in one of the many excellent local restaurants We did on our last night try acajou their « posh « restaurant , food there was quite good without knocking anything out of the park - expensive as you might guess , service very friendly a pianist plays favourites This is a world class hotel with the most amiable staff one , of course , pays for this but on balance it’s worth it - we would not go to barbados without staying here .

Afternoon tea at Sandy Lane! It was Fabulous!!! Our 25th wedding anniversary, so perfect place to be spoilt, service was great, food lovely and was impressed by the pink hotel! Everything is pink! Still prefer the Ritz but that’s both done!
