All that glitters isn't gold. The grounds are lovely and so is the reception area but that's it.

First impressions the hotel promises a great deal. Looks great on the approach. We opted for the online pre-checkin and were driven to our room by a bell boy. The room was a suite with a swim up pool. How disappointing. The room had loads of insects flying around inside, smelt musty and damp. The fixtures were all dated and required updating. The skirt around the bed was dirty. A sofa bed in the room looked like it had seen better days. The mirrors all had black patches and needed replacing. The door to the patio was. Secured with a latch at the top and therefore if I wasn't in the room, she couldn't reach it to open the patio door. The pool was dusted with pain flakes and the deckchairs had dried paint on them. During our stay there were painters painting above or next to us. The food in general was to a decent standard except foe a couple of times when it ws noticeable that the ingredients had been recycled. On entering every restaurant, even the sports bar, you are required to register your room number and asked about allergies. Even the buffet. Other hotels would label the food in the buffet adequately. And sports bars are meant to be somewhere guests can casually hang out without the formality. Not here. In gereral, the staff are the worse I've experienced in the Caribbean and I travel back to that region twice yearly. They are poorly trained and demotivated. Simple things like water on the floor would not be noticed in the dining area. Staff would wipe the tables and allow the crumbs to fall onto the chairs or the floor. The breakfast chef who did the eggs was positively rude. We were woken when the early staff arrived for work at the early hours of the morning by staff apekai g at the top of their voices with no consideration for the guests. On more than one occasion I had to wait for a staff member to finish their mobile call before I could be dealt with. One evening the was a massive argument at one of the restaurants and a supervisor had to defuse it. Only saw manager presence the day before our departure. No management engagement with the guests like you would at a Riu or Bahia establishment. The entertainment is basic and the vibe team just stick to their areas. Other resorts the vibe team walk around engaging with the guests. The girls in the coffee shop so a fair shift and are very customer focused. But why have a door that has to be opened inwards when you need to ask for assistance to carry out your drinks if you have a coffee in each hand? . Would take 5 mins of a Manager spending time in that area to notice and solve. Zenith in the spa was so good my wife booked another treatment with her. The guys in the gym were good and knew their stuff. The gym is probably the best I've experienced at any resort in the Caribbean. The tapenyaki experience was good but the lady doing the introduction to the evening was not up to standard. The Calypso was a great experience. Had Lerlorn one evening who was fantastic. Why have fabric chairs in the open and when they get soaked if it rains overnight, just leave them in place for guests to sit on wet cushions? Got a courtesy call asking about our stay and when we fed back no one contacted us to even try to address our concerns. It turns out that they were mainly interested in getting us to book tours with them. My assessment of this resort is that it is not a four star and barely makes it past a three star. It's poorly managed and requires managers who would lead from the front and by example. Would benefit from weekly inspections and reporting of defects etc. Visit a Riu resort and a team member would not walk past without a greeting or a smile. Either the recruiting, the supervision or the training needs to be better or all three. I've managed large customer service operations an know the challenges involved but if this resort were to address the customer service standards and the regular maintenance in an intelligent manner, they may have a chance at achieving their aspiration. My advice is to stay away. I for one won't be back.

This is a ‘better than usual’ Caribbean all inclusive resort, but not a 5 star establishment, in my opinion. Overall really nice, but needs some work in places now… The layout, with a couple of minor niggles, is absolutely fantastic. The huge open central area with the main pools between the various blocks is a huge sun trap. It never felt cramped or full, even though we were told it was at over 95% capacity. There were always plenty of sunbeds by the pools - but be aware that there were not enough parasols. As the sun is seriously hot, this is a problem. There are less beds on the beach. The beach is nice, with soft white sand. Note the water, although gentle, does dip quickly! The music from the main pool is loud and does interfere when you just want to relax on the beach, though. We were in the ‘normal’ rooms so cannot comment if the Hideaway or Diamond upgrades were worth it. Rooms are large and specious. Being on the 4th floor, had a great view across the resort. Nice, large shower. Our room was always cleaned well with fresh towels and water daily. Drinks in general were fine, but the cocktail mixtures were too sweet for us. And the beer was never cold enough! Also hit and miss which type of glass they came in! Measures were always generous and never had any issues with staff/service which generally was excellent. Food is another story. The buffet was typically fine but the a la carte restaurants were poor. Service here was poor and both the quantity and quality of the food was nowhere near where it should be. And avoid the deserts everywhere - apart from the ice creams. Real shame, as otherwise this is a beautiful resort

I have a laundry list of bad things I could say about my experience at The Royalton St Lucia but I'll shorten it for time purposes: -Paid for King bed and was given 2 full beds -Room was NEVER TURNED OVER AND THERE WAS SAND IN BOTH BEDS!! -Locked out of room for over 24 hours -Needed emergency medicine and there was no sense of urgency to help us into the room for it. -No toilet paper -Restaurant employees were so rude -Constantly harassed on the beach After meeting with the manager (Who showed up at 1pm for our 930am meeting) and thinking we may be fairly compensated they ultimately offered us nothing. Do yourself a favor and spend a few extra dollars to stay somewhere else if visiting St Lucia.

This resort was disappointing on many levels. Poor service and room amenities - cleaners took dirty towels away but didn’t replace them, coffee maker plug did not fit into socket then I waited 2 days for adapter to be provided to accommodate, not clean - there were false eyelashes on floor of balcony and shower when we moved in, property and room not easily accessible for wheelchair use, beware what is sold as beach view - we looked at trees on our second floor room - you won’t have ocean view on lower floors but they sell it otherwise, very far from airport, food and drinks inconsistent - some bartenders don’t even acknowledge you! Servings at a la carte restaurants are very small. If you are the type to turn in early, be prepared for noise until at least 10pm as the “entertainment” (karaoke) is loud and annoyingly heard everywhere. There were a couple staff that were nice ie: Porsha in the buffet and Naomi at front desk.

My husband and I just returned from a week at the Royalton. It was fantastic. Staff went above and beyond for us. Everyone was friendly. The grounds were beautiful. There were always open chairs by the pools and the beach. The room was large. We were in building 6 which is right near the children’s pool, so we were a little concerned about noise, but it was never a problem. The food was very good. I only drink non alcoholic beer and the staff at all the restaurants/ bars went out of their way to find it for us. One staff member even gave us a couple for our refrigerator in place of the regular beer! We definitely recommend this Royalton.

We just returned from a beautiful stay at the RoyaltonSt. Lucia! We stayed at the Diamond Club in Building 7. Our room was a bit dated but clean and spacious. The resort property is beautiful and well maintained. We enjoyed a few of the on-site water activities and relaxing by the Diamond Club pool and beach. We ate at a different specialty restaurant each night. Some offerings were better than others and we never went hungry. We enjoyed gelato and cookies at the cafe almost every night. The bartenders were inconsistent but we were always able to get another drink if the first wasn’t what we wanted. The majority of the staff were friendly and attentive but our butlers, Nikita and Kaysia went above and beyond to make our stay memorable and enjoyable! I cannot say enough positive things about these ladies and the service they provide! I was a bit nervous after reading some of the reviews but pleasantly surprised. Was everything perfect…no…but the positives certainly outweigh the negatives.

Beautiful property but needs updating. We stayed at the Hideaway, Stephen, Brandon, and Inga were professional and fun bartenders. Our favorite restaurant was the Dorado, the other restaurants food was lacking in flavor. The pools and grounds were clean and they offered plenty of activities.

Hotel itself is beautiful and in a lovely location with very friendly staff and excellent food and restaurant options. Personally from own experience I would not upgrade. It does come with benefits like butler service and dining areas for diamond and hideaway guests only however…. We have found normal Royalton passes to be using these facilities. The butlers only seem to be good at booking the table reservations which did help as trying to get a booking at the restaurants seemed some what tricky. When dining in the ‘fully booked’ restaurants it amazed me with all the empty tables. Service itself is very slow especially waiting half and hour to get served at the ‘Score’ bar in an evening. The men seem more interested in looking for potential suitors. The journey from the airport to the hotel was very long and roads are not great. If you get travel sick as I did, make sure you take some sickness tablets as soon as you get off the plane. We booked a horse ride online direct with ‘North Point Riding Stables’ which the hotel was not offering under there excursions which baffled me. We found this to be amazing and literally next to the hotel rather than travelling an hour away from the one that they use! Horses were looked after and the hack was beautiful with us going into the sea.

We cannot for the life of us understand the neagtive reviews. The ONLY two negatives we experienced were out of the resorts control. The almost 2 hr ride from the airport is horrible, can easily get car sick and the mosqitoes are killas. Other than that, the staff was friendly, drinks were flowing, the buffet (for a buffet) was actually ok and the pools were superb. Ok, the rooms do need some updating, but still overall good.
