Beautiful resort, the rooms are large and very comfortable. Plenty of activities. The yoga and aqua fit led by Lady J were exactly what we needed to justify all the eating. The specialty restaurants were excellent and the night entertainment was good.

The beach is glorious, and when the restaurants are fully staffed, they provide an adequate but limited menu. It was quite difficult to get into them at a time and day of choosing. Given that we had paid for the upgrade to Diamond Club, we had expected to receive improved choices. The staff were friendly and polite. Entertainment is OK, but the lobby is a dreadful area for the shows if not seated directly in front of the stage. The room was good with an enormous bed, although the balcony chairs could have been more comfortable. We did think that opting for Diamond Club meant that there would be rooms expressly for this service in a designated area, but it seems that individual rooms are equipped on an 'as necessary ' basis, but may be wrong in this. Overall our holiday was what we hoped for. A beautiful location, with lovely staff and a restful time.

This place is “adequate”. The rooms are ok, need some attention. The AC is terrible, it is either on or off. No way to control the temperature. There is no Auto mode so the fan stays on continuously unless you turn off the whole system. Complained and the maintenance tech said the system Was brand new but that you cannot set the temp you desire. The buffet is ok and is actually better than the restaurants. We ate at the Italian restaurant one evening and it was horrible. My fish filet was so tough I needed a knife to cut it. Fed is all to the resident cat who loved it. Cancelled future reservations at other restaurants based on that experience. Unless you are “Diamond Club” you are not a priority. Sadly, we are Marriott Platinum Elite and were still “ordinary” guests there. Ugh, I hate giving negative reviews but this place needs to get their act together. Never again.

Spent 9 days there celebrating my husbands 60th. What a stunning resort. We paid a little extra for diamond club, which I would thoroughly recommend. We had a personal butler, he was there to ensure we had all we needed, and if we had any requests he dealt with it. He made my husbands birthday very special by decorating our room with flowers , wine, cake and beautiful birthday message spelt across the bed in leaves, simply wonderful. The rooms were kept beautifully clean. Everyone was so friendly and kind. I personally loved the whole experience, only one negative, some of the food was trial and error but overall good

The property is described as a 5 star resort which is misleading because all that means is that the property has more than one restaurant, lifts, 24 concierge etc. The 5 star refers to facilities not the quality of hotel. We did have a shaky arrival and check in at the hotel as they didn't appear to have the correct details on our reservation and it did take an hour to check in due to no escalation procedures in place to deal with such situations. Having said this individually all of the staff always went out of their way to provide an excellent standard of service to guests. They are a credit to both the hotel and to the island of Antigua. The hotel is extremely comfortable but does have some serious management issues mainly around the provision of food in the restaurants. There is distinct lack of leadership in this area. At the buffet for example there was no supervisor in charge of making sure that everything was perfect for guests so some annoying things were often missing like orange juice and butter for breakfast. Clearly nobody was checking. The Italian restaurant I have to say was a bit of a joke. Don't offer an Italian menu unless it is truly representative of the food from Italy. At every meal we had the staff couldn't have been nicer and one got the impression that they were embarrassed with the quality of food on offer. We never had any issues with shortages of drinks in the bars (as referred to in other reviews) and we found the waiter service on the beach and around the pool to be excellent. The sandy beach is stunning but the hotel does need to invest in more loungers to accommodate the number of guests requiring one. Management should consider offering ice-creams in the pool area and revamp the Diamond Club food offering at the pool to a lighter fare. It isn't really worth going to this hotel unless you sign up to the Diamond Club otherwise obtaining reservations in the various restaurants is almost impossible. The Butlers in the Diamond Club are attentive and genuinely strive to give a quality service We really did enjoy our stay at the Royalton Antigua and with a more enlightened management this hotel could truly be excellent

Stayed 16th feb 2025. The positives are the location on the beach and the cleanliness of the resort. The room smelt musty and damp and even our clothes in the wardrobe felt as if they were damp. The beach bar continuously ran out of water, beer and cocktails this was as little as 2 hours after morning opening. Some of the sunbeds were worn and the covers grubby. There was room to set out two more rows of sun beds which would ease the morning race to obtain a bed. My husband saw people heading to the beach as early as 5.30! We ate at the Scores bar on one occasion only due to the experience. They had run out of fries replaced them with wedges. We ordered food waited for 90 mins to arrive when it did the waitress said there were no fries to which we said we understand but they were replaced with wedges to be told they run out also. We had a charred philly steak which only contained half of the stated ingredients. Some of the restaurant chefs were ignored you, I was at the pasta section and the lady in front of me was served I was stood with plate in hand and the chef turned her back on me I waited but no acknowledgement so I left with an empty plate. Staff in the main bar seemed to regularly disappear or leave to dance to the acts playing often leaving just 1 person working the bar. On departing the resort we had our own taxi booked and pre paid and this was made clear to the bellboy. However when what we thought was our taxi arrived and confirming with the driver our name after him saying are you going to the ship, we got into the taxi only to arrive at the destination where he wanted payment stating the resort had booked him. Some of the staff were polite and friendly whilst others were indifferent. Staff at the gelato and coffee shop were always welcoming. Not the service and experience you expect from a 5 star resort that said if the above is fixed you could have a nice time.

The Royalton Antigua is not an extravagant resort by any means, but is still quite nice. If you're looking for a great family, all-inclusive resort, the Royalton Antigua is the place to go. If you're wanting a couples only resort this would not be the one to book. The room we were in was alright. Clean and comfortable. It did have a slight smell when we first got in but after a bit it seemed to go away. We weren't really impressed with the resturants that required a reservation, however, we did talk to other couples who did like them. My hubby and I preferred the buffet. There was a large variety of food to chose from, and everything we ate was quite tasty. We were impressed with all the staff from reception, to entertainment, to housekeeping, and security. We found them all to be friendly, professional, very helpful. We had no issues whatsoever. The Royalton Antigua is very kid friendly, but for our next trip to Antigua we'll stay at an adults only resort.

This is suppose to be a 5 star resort. I would give it a 2.5 rating. This is the worst resort we have ever been to. As we were checking in, manager was in a yelling match with a guest about a charge. The manager finally admitted he was wrong. The guest asked for an apology and the manager didn’t say anything and turned and went through a door to the back. It was 6 pm when we were checking in and were told our room wasn’t ready. We’re told to take a look around and get a beverage and come back in a hour or more. Finally got to our room and found the room not very clean. Drink refrigerator wasn’t fun and only a couple of towels. The next day as we were by the pool there was no service to get you anything. We found out when we went for a drink they did not have too shelf liquor and no fruit for drinks. There only beer was there own Logar. We went to the concierge office and told them everything. They were very defensive and said they would look into it. We got to our room and it wasn’t any better than the day before including our refrigerator. We called down to the concierge again and got the same defensive attitude. They did send someone to touch up our room and fill the refrigerator. The next day the room wasn’t fun better but the refrigerator was not filled. My husband ordered 6 drinks along with some pop and juice with room service and was told he could only have 2. He explained our refrigerator wasn’t fun empty. When the only they came to fill it, my husband told the server if he kept our refrigerator full he would give him $20 everyday. Which we shouldn’t have to do. We couldn’t get reservations also, so we went to the concierge again and she said there was a person in our building that could do that. We went back to the building and there was nobody there. We went back again to the concierge and they said they would call someone and they would help us. We were ended up getting those booked finally. We found out that day they had American beer but you could only get that if you were in the preferred. Once again we went to the concierge and asked if we could get American beer since they didn’t have fruit to make drinks and I don’t like Logar beer. We were told she would check. Eventually we did get some and I started taking fruit from breakfast to get drinks made and paid the bartender for him making them. I was asked on the phone before we left how our trip was and I went through it all with her. And she didn’t say anything. The rooms are outdated and have mold in the shower and hallway. And it had a terrible odor. We cracked our sliding door until we say employees coming out of the trees. We had to keep the door closed and the curtains closed. The food was horrible. In the buffet at breakfast it was as like they made everything right away in the morning and put it under a heat lamp. Always no bacon. The restaurants food was also not good. Service was also not good. We felt from the time we got there that it was a chore to do anything for us. The rest of the staff if you walk d by and then they didn’t look at you or say hi. Every resort we have been to the staff smiles and makes a point of saying good morning or hi. We will never go to any Royalton resorts and the owners of the resort should be ashamed for this resort. We will be telling all of our family and friends to look at the reviews before they go. I wish I did. You will see similar reviews to ours.

We had a lovely time away at The Royalton in Antigua and found the resort, the hotel and the staff all really lovely. We didn’t want to leave! For restaurant bookings you’re best to download the Royalton app, set an alarm for 10am and book for 48hrs ahead.
Nice hotel, lovely staff and location, not 5 star or “Luxury” sadly.

We were so looking forward to a lovely relaxing holiday in this "luxury" hotel however, sadly, and despite the efforts of most of the lovely staff, this was not that relaxing or a luxury stay. The hotel is in a fantastic location with a beautiful beach but, our main issues were around food and drink availability and sun beds. If we had a £1 for every time we were told “ sorry we don’t have that right now” we’d be very rich! The beach bar became a joke every morning and late afternoon as they would be out of stock of something, from bottled water, soft drinks, tonics, wine and smoothies. They clearly had stock as they would turn up with a few cases at some point throughout the day and if you were lucky, you could get the drink you wanted. The same with the lobby bar at the start of opening at 5pm. We discovered the lovely staff would make a list of what was required when they opened at 5pm, then wait for an hour or so for someone to deliver the required stock. Why not get the staff who closed the bar at night to make the list so when it opens it is fully stocked? The restaurants we booked were also hit and miss with what was available and which wine they had available as there was always something they didn’t have. Again, we don’t believe the hotel was short, the products were just not in the right place at the right time. The main buffet restaurant was fine for breakfast and lunch, but the evening meals were not that great as a lot of the hot food was warm/cold, unless you timed it right and got there just as they had cooked some more of certain things. We tried the three “ale carte” restaurants and whilst the menu and standard was better, they still had issues with some food choices not being available along with certain wines. The staff in the main were lovely, the beach bar staff weren’t that happy, but we couldn’t blame them given the situation they were in, dealing with unhappy customers. The other issue we had was, when the hotel is full, they did not have enough sun beds and the situation is not managed at all by the hotel. They allowed guests to have as many towels as they wanted so could save beds on both the beach and by the pool. Also allowed people to go down anytime between 5am (and possibly earlier) onwards to save beds. I went on holiday to enjoy the pool and beach and not have to get up before 7am to find most beds had gone. It was also disappointing to see a large number of the cushions on the beds were in a very poor state, ripped and having black mould, not something you would expect from a quality hotel. After a large number of us complained to the hotel, they did get more sun beds in which helped if you didn’t require a brolly. This issue can be managed as we have stayed at hotels who have been able to ensure all guests have a sun bed as they only give one towel per guest. We did complain to a manager, all we were told was the hotel was under new management and things would be sorted. Sadly, apart from some more sun beds, nothing else improved whilst we were there. We worked very hard to save for this holiday and to have a restful and relaxing break however this is something we did not get.

Not 5*, Not Managed, Noisy This is a true and honest review of our experience at the Royalton Autograph Hotel, Antigua. On arrival we were swiftly taken to the Diamond club and checked in an taken to our room which smelt a bit musky on arrival. Although we asked for Block 10 for a view of the bay and a quiet room, we were put in 11101 which is opposite the diamond club reception and next to the lifts and entrance, so at times quite noisy. One morning they were using some machinery in the hallway at 7:30am which was very noisy and woke us up. The room was clean and spacious with a good bathroom and shower. We had a swim out room but Only got the sun until around 11am and the loungers were in the water and not on the terrace. If they were you did not get any sun at all. The room was cleaned daily and mini bar refilled. Restaurants-Food First night the buffet restaurant was closed, so we had to sit outside and the food available was a few tins over night-lights which were either cold or empty. Very little in the way of starter, or desserts and no cheese. The following night it was open with a much wider choice, however the food was often slightly warm or cold. On several occasions the fish section they did not light the hotplate until AFTER the restaurant had opened so fish was not available for another 20minutes or so. Very little variety in dishes on offer each night. The breakfast was a better choice, although sausages not always available. The logistics of ordering supplies and catering for the restaurants needs some better management. The steak house NEVER had any crab cakes or onion rings during the time we were there. On our last evening for some unknown reason the night time entertainment was put right outside the restaurant’s with very, very loud music. We went inside the steak house when we eventually got a table but it was still nearly impossible to have a conversation or hear the waitress, as the music was sooooo loud. Beach/Pool The beach and sea were a delight. The pools themselves were good. However again the music as so loud most of the time and when it was Aqua it was unbearably loud. It was so loud one day we could hear it very loudly on our terrace behind the wall some 300 yards from the beach especially when the female was on the microphone we had to retire to our room and shut the door. We did mention this to the butler who did speak to the entertainment team. When we did go to the beach/pool as we were diamond club we could go to the far end and using ear plugs it was not quite as bad, but not enjoyable. The area around the pools needs some serious maintenance as there were many tiles missing in the pool leaving sharp edges. The steps to the beach need painting as it is all flaking down to the wood. The paving needs some deep cleaning. There was always plenty of towels and bins to put your used towels. However, many guests were too lazy even to do this and just left them on the beds, so you did not know if the beds were free or not. The pool people are there to serve drinks etc and should not be treated as slaves. Bars There were no quiet bars or quiet seating areas in the grounds, even though there was plenty of space to put some table and chairs. At the children’s splash park parents were sitting on the concrete, which I think is unacceptable. It is a lovely area with shades but NO tables and chairs for sitting. We had paid a premium to the diamond club so we used the Diamond club lounge and terrace but there were only 6 chairs on the terrace. If we had not paid for this, our holiday would have been even more miserable. Staff We found all the staff very helpful and polite all the time. Jasandra in particular always greeted you with a smile. This was our time at a Royalton Hotel and were not very impressed at all. The hotel is completely mis-managed and the logistics of running the hotel and restaurants is not working as it should. The maintenance of the hotel also requires attention although the gardens were well maintained.
