We have stayed at other RIU hotels and the RIU Palace Punta Cana is an excellent choice for a Caribbean vacation. The hotel layout is easy to navigate and we found it to be very clean and organized. We stayed in room 2059 which is the best and largest hotel room we have ever stayed in. Ocean front and you get the sunrise & sunset views from the large balcony. Thank you to Chay at the front desk. There are plenty of friendly staff to help you. We would like to make a special mention to Ariel, Rosa, Morillo, Sanchez, Audy (Quattro) and Wilson (breakfast cook). These individuals were always positive, friendly and provided excellent service. Service Especial. We were not overly impressed with the quality of the food at the Steakhouse or Japanese restaurant, so we ate at the La Isabela buffet for dinner and La AltaGracia for lunch. Pepe's BBQ chicken and burgers are excellent. Freshly grilled and very tasty. When we stayed at the RIU Aruba last year, the food was excellent and the managers there were actively walking around getting feedback every night from the guests about the food. We did not experience this at RIU Punta Cana and it might be an opportunity for improvement to improve customer satisfaction. More attention could be paid to not overcook the seafood and pork. That being said, we would definitely go back to RIU Palace Punta Cana in a heartbeat. This is a great resort with lots of space, beautiful beach, great entertainment and excellent staff.

Great Location, But Some Service Issues The location is fantastic! The buildings and rooms are excellent, the beach is very close, and there are plenty of pools. Most staff members are friendly, though some seem overly focused on receiving tips. Unfortunately, we had a few negative experiences with certain employees. 1. Noisy Housekeeping – The housekeeping staff was very loud, shouting to each other in the hallways. Our afternoon nap was abruptly disturbed, and we initially thought something was wrong. When we asked one of the maids, she casually responded that they were just chatting about food because they were hungry. 2. Unprofessional Check-in – The receptionist was dismissive towards my girlfriend and, when I didn’t understand Spanish, asked if I was mute. Additionally, he gave us a worse room than agreed upon. Thankfully, the manager later resolved the issue. 3. Sunbed Reservation Problem – The “towel reservation” system for sunbeds at the pool and beach was frustrating. This is something you’d expect at lower-end hotels. The hotel should either enforce a no-reservation policy or provide more sunbeds to avoid this issue. 4. Poor Soda Quality – All soft drinks from the soda gun were flat and lacked syrup, making mixed drinks taste bad. The best rum & cola we had was in our room using a regular bottled soda. Overall, the stay was enjoyable, but some aspects of the service need improvement.

We travelled from the UK, and my wife is wheelchair user. We emailed ahead and asked for an adapted room. We were given room 1010 on the first floor near the reception overlooking Riu Bambu. We had read the reviews on here prior to travelling and can say that the bad ones must have been staying in another hotel. The room was comfortable with a nice large bed, and our room's floor had no step, unlike others. The reception area was large off, which was a bar, coffee shop, and sports bar. There were two lifts at either end of the reception to take you to the other floors. We visited all the resturants and they provided good meals and we didn't go hungry. The staff were very attentive from the waiters at the pool through the restaurants to the reception staff. The drinks were good, but you needed to request branded makes. Otherwise, you got local. The only beer was president, which was good. The entertainment staff do a good job keeping you occupied during the day and evening. Ok, the shows can be a bit hit and miss, but have another drink and have a laugh The pools were clean, and there were plenty of sun loungers. The beach was long and soft sand, but be aware of the ocean breakers. We travelled with Tui, and their flight crew stay at the hotel, and they enjoy it. All in all, a good time but a holiday is what you make of it.

my second trip here. Two years ago I gave this resort a 4 &1/2 out of 5 but it has gone down hill in 2 years. First, I'll tell you this is the first resort I've been to that allows the staff to be on their cell phones during working hours. This was a huge disruption to my time vacationing. I had to interrupt the omelette maker from his FaceTime call to have him make me some eggs. At first I thought he was talking to me then realized he had his phone in front of him. This was the problem all week I was there. We vacation every year in the Dominican Republic for the inexpensive luxury and the phone use by staff defiantly took that luxury away. The nightly entertainment was not up to par as it was 2 years ago either. Those are my biggest complaints. Manual was our server in the larger buffet and he was awesome. It's great to find that one staff that is so willing to go above

It is generally a nice hotel. Lots of good points but a few let it down badly. Half way across our room, leading to the balcony were 2 steps. See photo. (Beer cans to show size). They were tiled like the floor so were very hard to see, just a huge safety hazard. I am disabled and they made getting to the balcony difficult. A lot of guests had babies and toddlers. Leaving a small child on the floor to roam is a complete no no with unprotected steps. I have never seen a hazard like this in a hotel before. CRAZY. We were offered a disabled room, one of four that did not have steps but it was dank and musty and we declined. Other issues, the entertainment was poor, we've seen a lot better. All loungers etc grouped round pool areas where music blasted all day. The site shows pictures of fountains set in lovely gardens, lovely tranquil spaces, but they are only to be walked past, not used. There was a piano in the lobby area. Several times a guest played creating a delightful atmosphere. There was no resident player, which would have made a big difference.

The hotel is amazing and the staff can't do enough for you they are always there to help in any way they can. Our room (2136) was very clean no damp or nasty smells and the maids did a great job every day cleaning the rooms. The food was very nice no complaints from us about the food. The hotel grounds and the pools were kept immaculate at all times. All in all the hotel and the staff are amazing we had a great time and will be returning without a doubt. I
