Imagine stepping back in time to a charming 17th-century farmhouse, surrounded by the serene beauty of vineyards and rolling Tuscan hills, where romance and relaxation are the order of the day. Welcome to the luxury boutique hotel and spa that was once the home of the famous poet Antonio Guadagnoli. This countryside Relais, now part of the prestigious Relais & Châteaux chain, boasts 22 unique rooms, a renowned restaurant, a winery, and a spa offering an array of unique treatments.
The regal, old-world rooms are a dream for romantic travelers. Each comes with antique furnishings and lavish fabrics, creating an atmosphere of refined Tuscan charm. Upgraded rooms feature whirlpool tubs for a luxurious soak, while suites offer separate sitting areas – perfect for cozy evenings in. Some even feature stone walls, fireplaces, or private gardens. Each room provides a breathtaking view of the enchanting Cortonese countryside, merging comfort with natural beauty.
The hotel’s acclaimed restaurant offers a unique dining experience. It’s not just about the food – though the personally supervised cooking by Silvia, aided by head Chef Richard Titi, is a marvel in itself. The restaurant is set across two floors, with a glass and wrought-iron conservatory overlooking an outdoor dining terrace. It features an ancient fishpond and a rose-clad pergola, offering a dining experience that’s as visually stunning as it is delicious. The menu is a perfect blend of original and traditional recipes, paired with exceptional wines.
Wine enthusiasts will appreciate the onsite winery, surrounded by vineyards that paint a picturesque backdrop. But the indulgence doesn’t stop there. The hotel’s posh spa, La THESAN ETRUSCAN SPA, aims to reawaken your senses through the harmony of the environment and the flavors and tastes of Tuscany. It offers a wellness trail where water and heat are combined with therapeutic lights, sounds, and colors to optimize relaxation. Exclusive treatments featuring olive oil and wine are also available, providing a unique Tuscan wellness experience.
The hotel’s location could not be more perfect for romantic retreats and honeymoons. Set in a quiet, elevated rural location amid vineyards and olive groves, it offers stunning views of the Val di Chiana to the west, and the ancient Etruscan hill town of Cortona just three kilometers to the south. Moreover, it’s ideally located for short trips to some of central Italy’s most famous art cities, such as Arezzo, Perugia, Siena, Florence, and Assisi, all within an hour’s drive away.
Whether you wish to unwind with a glass of wine amidst the vineyards, lose yourself in the culinary delights of the restaurant, or explore the nearby art cities, this hotel is a dream come true for honeymooners and romantic travelers.
Honeymooners and romantic travelers were highly pleased with their stay at Il Falconiere in Cortona, particularly the Under the Tuscan Sun cooking experience. They found the venue stunning and the cooking classes enjoyable, with the staff being both wonderful and knowledgeable. The breathtaking views from the restaurant, the fine wine produced by the hotel owners, and the several course luncheon were memorable. The estate was described as fantastic in every respect, featuring beautiful buildings, a vineyard, olive grove, a lovely restaurant and spa, as well as excellent service and spacious rooms. The hotel's housekeeping was also praised and the surroundings were deemed wonderful.
We were so happy with our stay and experience of Under the Tuscan Sun cooking experience. The venue was beautiful and the cooking classes were fun. We have traveled all over Italy and the only issue I had was the breakfast. This was a Michelin Star kitchen and the breakfast...
Read Full ReviewIs it fair that the views are breathtaking from the restaurant in beautiful Cortona? Of course, but it made little impact because the fine wine - produced by the owners of the hotel - served by the attentive waiters matched well with our several course luncheon. Truly a most memorable...
Read Full ReviewFantastic in every respect, beautiful building s dotting an estate (easy walks by a small vineyard and olive grove), with a lovely restaurant and spa in the center. Excellent service, beautiful spacious rooms. We even stayed an extra night. Picture perfect, right out of a movie. Highly recommend.
Lovely hotel with fantastic housekeeping, situated in wonderful surroundings. However, there is room for improvement in their digital solutions and breakfast offerings. The breakfast quality varied greatly from day to day. For instance, the scrambled eggs were very dry on some days, while on other days they were acceptable. The...
