Stayed an extra, unplanned night

We were so surprised by the setting we stayed an extra night. Cabins are a nice western style, not “rustic”, face the Colorado River, with direct access and look toward towering red sandstone cliffs. They’re fully furnished with microwave, fridge and coffee maker. Furnishings are nice, comfortable, clean and modern. Plan ahead for drinking water. They do the best they can with their wells, but constrained by what comes out while softening the hard water, there was too much salt for us. The dedicated, RO drinking water wasn’t much better, possibly a membrane issue. We pack water when traveling and picked up an extra gallon in Moab; handled.
They said, before we booked they were remodeling with limited amenities. Didn’t notice, took all our meals at the temporary restaurant, chef was fantastic and while they don’t say, cooked to order! View was outstanding, they are everywhere on property and we spent time walking it.
Absolutely plan to return, enjoyed even during the middle of winter and the shoulder rates are almost free. Highly recommend!

The setting of this property is pretty special. It is a 20 minute drive over a windy road with towering red rocks and the Colorado river flowing through to reach this property from downtown Moab. We had a room facing the river which we paid suite night upgrades for. The room was cozy, comfortable and upgraded with a fan, steamer and extremely comfortable bed. So why the low stars? The property is undergoing a major renovation and there is no wifi or phones in the room. This would not be an issue but given the remote location and no cell coverage this is a major problem. First if you are missing anything and want to call front desk there is no way to reach them because there is no phone in the room and your cell is on SOS and there is no wifi. Make shift Lobby is a good walk over a graveled path by ford bronco rental. There is also a makeshift restaurant there where the service was good but breakfast just super average and the only wifi you get is by that makeshift lobby.
In today’s connected world not having basic wifi is unacceptable especially if you have an emergency. I would expect Marriott to be aware and inform guests ahead of time. The property failed to do this prior to our arrival. It’s just unacceptable to not let us know about this prior to arrival. Also make a note anytime you drive anywhere - downtown, Arches, Canyonlands etc you will have to drive 20 or so minutes more to just get out to town.
I would not recognize this property until the construction ends. Stay at other Marriott properties in town

Unfortunately we had a room that had a room connector door and when the guests in the room checked in late they were also ready to party. The rooms do not have carpet and while this makes for a much better looking and feeling room there needs to some sound proofing added-we stuffed an extra blanket at the floor but it only helped a little.
When we went to call the front desk to cope with the problem we realized there were no phones in the room. Luckily even with spotty cell coverage I managed to call from my cell phone to have them address the issue.
The kitchenette area is very nice however while it has a microwave, a toaster, and a mini fridge it doesnt have plates, cutlery or glasses and it has a very large farm house sink for some reason.
The shower and toilet are separated by a door yet there are no towel racks to hang the towels up after you use them.
The restaurant was moved to a different part of the property till the main lodge is finished but the staff did an amazing job hosting our meals, and the menu's were spot on.

We got the King river suite for the view of the river but our view was almost completely blocked by trees. We asked to be moved over to another room and was told they had already upgraded us. ( but we paid full amount for the upgrade ). We couldn't use the lodge because it was under renovation and we were not told when we booked the room! The filtered water was so salty that we had to melt ice from their ice machine to have something to drink and make coffee. We went into Moab and bought water the next morning. This place is very Expensive over $400 a night and not worth $200. Worst part of our vacation. Good thing we only booked 2 days

We arrived 5/11 for 3 nights after hiking in Mesa Verde and driving 5 hours looking forward to a cold beer and wine to learn you had no liquor license during the renovation. Your website raved about your cocktail and bar with no notice at all. By the time you drove 30 minutes from town, you can't make a trip back to a grocery. We should have been told ahead of time!!
Your Marriott Bonvoy affiliation apparently means little. We were traveling with 3 other couples, one of whom booked their room through AAA with no Marriott status and was upgraded to a river cabin. I am a Lifetime Platinum and had a Creekside Room, which didn't even have a creek.
The $20 parking fee is ridiculous given that you have a nearly unlimited gravel lot on which to park, and the rooms are far apart. It is price gouging when the registration and food are remote during the renovation and a car is a necessity. I requested and was granted a refund, but it is still offensive.
There is spotty cell coverage and no land lines in the rooms.
For the most part the staff were nice and tried hard to deal with the challenges of a renovation. However, there were systemic problems that make what should be a great property merely mediocre.
