The good. The resort itself is stunningly beautiful and the views from the rooms on the tops floors are incomparable ocean panoramas. The waves at night (Minus the drunk kids) was simply awesome. We ere able to watch the whales from our deck. The food was some of the best I had for an all inclusive. There was a food court, a taco truck, buffets and specialty restaurants. The pies, cakes and ice cream at the food court (market) are some of the best I've had even from Chicago restaurant standards much less an all inclusive in Mexico. Wine was also superb. The staff was attentive (Canuto the food truck worker) really stood out as did our room cleaner. The golf course Quivira is simply amazing and had some of the best vistas Ive seen on any course I've played including Pebble. The rersort is huge but its pretty easy to get a golf cart there are several pick up and drop off options and they do a good job of getting you around.
Now the caution. This resort has been discovered by spring breakers, so if you are going in spring (at least first two weeks of March) be careful if you are looking for quiet romance. We were here the first week of March and there were ALOT of college students. Estimated as maybe 30 percent of the guests. Trying to sleep with our slider open and listen to the ocean was difficult on most nights as the kids would get home from the club at around 2am and shout. Having early morning dives in the Marina it was difficult to stay asleep all night. I did call twice and security did a great job at clearing the rooms but it did put a damper on what I thought would be a romantic trip. The main pool was a no go as it was lots of drinking and partying. Even A la Carte breakfast was cancelled on our second day here because the kids were apparently ordering everything on the menu. I guess there's not much the resort could have done but I asked a few times about booking another trip the following year outside of spring break and nobody seemed to want to help. Maybe they could have offered a similar room at a discounted price so we could give the resort a second chance but we got nothing of the sort.
So one of the best all inclusive I've been to and one of the better views I'd ever had from a room but I'd like to give it another shot without all the drinking and partying.

RUNNN!!!!! I purchased at Pueblo Bonito Montecristo and Novespania and have stayed at Sunset, and the last three visits show the run down nature, problems and worse, the lack of management to address or make right. This is not inexpensive at all. Those that run this place just don't care. DO NOT PURCHASE HERE. You are making a mistake and will regret it. Trust me. I now have to actually file a lawsuit to get part of my last rental back when the bad smell was revealed from the mildew and rot under the bathtub that they pulled out while we were there, the maids using the same towels they used to clean trash cans to clean counter tops, the complete lack of care to make right what was done wrong. The prior trip we discovered for them a slab leak in the floor. The time before even that at Sunset where the bed, sunken in the middle, was ridiculous. Hey, we bought so have to go since spent. I'm merely trying to help those reviewing before buying to avoid the same mistake.

The best experience at pool 226!
Travel Date: March 31, 2025
Omar, Carlos and Marcos were the absolute BEST at pool 226!! The best food, drinks and service. We will only come down and see them when we are here. Give them a raise and keep their team together. They are so sweet and friendly, fast, and work great together.
Poor communication with management, a specific butler, and pool concierges.

I will say the only reason this resort is getting a three from us right now is because of the kindness of their servers and housekeeping staff. We had issues with management, butler, and pool concierges. The communication between our particular butler and the pool staff was awful. We tried to use our assigned butler for a few days and it did not go well. We finally just did everything ourselves and got what we wanted. Doing it ourselves means that the butlers and pool staffs are not getting tips which is what we usually do. The hardest part of this situation is that when we communicated our issues to the management of the butlers, she completely ignored us. We have spent multiple weeks here over the past 5 years. Unfortunately due to the management not at least contacting us back, we will not back. The facility is older but the staff is pretty good about fixing things. If we had been given the respect of proper communication, we would have given this resort a 5. We unfortunately will not be back. We will try other resorts now. Super sad ending.
